Desires

Settling into his new house was surprisingly easy for Paul. Sure, the strange glares and weird looks the anthro population of the town gave him made him sometimes feel a little uncomfortable... even downright unwelcome. Not all of them had treated him in such a manner, sure, but being one of a very small number of humans in town - indeed, he'd not seen any others in the first two weeks of his move - was definitely weird.

If nothing else though, the man's neighbours had generally been pleasant enough. The panther couple one house up from him was the nicest by far. Maxine and Sam had been nothing but lovely to him after he'd arrived, from taking him out to dinner on his first day in to inviting him over several times after. They'd established a rapport quickly and had become fast friends. The lone wolf that lived one house down from Paul was nice, but somewhat guarded. Unlike others of the town, he didn't have much problem with Paul's humanity. It helped ease the sense of oddness he felt, knowing he lived between a couple of very accepting homes.

That wasn't to say things had gone completely smoothly. Paul knew well that his reputation was likely to follow him. Human/anthro relationships weren't exactly the social norm. Having that level of relative infamy trail along after he moved was expected, though Paul had dared hope that the anthros of the town would view him somewhat more favourably. He'd hoped that a human that found them attractive - beautiful, even - would be preferable to one that hated their forms and viewed them as abominations of genetic science. Unfortunately for Paul, he'd been wrong.

While the panthers and the wolf had been just fine with him, others in the town had not been so polite or accepting. Parents warned their children to steer clear of his house, anthros gave him a wide berth, and even the occasional human he spotted about town gave him an odd look. If it weren't for the felines next door, Paul might have thought the whole town looked down on him. Maybe it did.

But Sam had taken it with a dose of good humour, and gave the human a hell of a ribbing whenever it came up. Maxine took it in stride and avoided the direct jokes and off-colour comments of her husband, but settled instead for teasing Paul at every chance she got. Her body was toned with her work at the gym, though it retained more than enough feminine curve to stir a reaction in Paul every time she worked at him. Truth be told, he even felt the same about Sam. While his wife was a little more muscled than he was, he still more than took care of his body. The sight of him was enough to make Paul's eyes wander just as much as whenever Max came into view. It was torture, but it was sure as hell the best kind he could have hoped for.

Paul had to take a second to brush down his jeans as he hesitated at his front door. He'd meant to go over and talk to Sam about something, but his thoughts had derailed to the night before. Instead of fixing on the offer that had been made, the human cursed his memory as it continued to settle instead on Maxine's folded arms. They'd framed her ample chest as Sam had sat back and watched on with amusement. No matter what he did, they always found just the right words or actions to tease him into arousal. He almost counted the pair lucky to be married; if either were single, Paul knew he'd have no restraint.

Slowly, carefully, Paul pushed those thoughts out of his head. The offer. That was what he had to focus on. He didn't need the money, but his old life doing contract labour was still fulfilling work he liked to dabble in from time to time. It was something he'd done for other people before he'd left his old place, just little odd jobs and bits of construction work to help expand his friend's homes. He'd made the offer to the couple, and they'd suggested that he head on over the next day to discuss the possibility with them.

"That's it," he muttered quietly as he felt the blood start to draw back into the rest of his body. Paul sighed and leaned back from the door and finally pulled it open, and he stepped outside into the hot summer air as he sighed with relief. The last thing he needed was to head over there with his jeans bulged. Not for Sam's sake; Paul could handle the feline's tease. It was for his own sake. If anyone else on the street or looking out a window caught him like that, he'd be lucky if he was just branded a pervert.

The sound of shifting weights was immediately apparently to Paul's ears, and he sighed again as he started to head down the path and around to Sam's house. All the time and effort spent trying to keep his cock down, and he could hear Sam working out. His malehood began to twitch at the sound, and Paul whimpered to himself as he hurried up his steps just a little. Part of it was to get himself out of sight before his pants became too tight again. Part of it was to see what he knew he'd find.

Past the dark blue sedan that sat in Sam's driveway, Paul could see the door to the garage raised up. Inside was a mess of boxes for storage, but that was hardly what caught Paul's eyes. Nor were the various pieces of gym equipment, from pull-up bars to weight machines and treadmills. The little CD player set atop a bar fridge off in the corner went unheard, despite the catchiness of the 80's rock that came from it.

Instead, Paul's full attention fixed on the center of the garage. Sam lay there atop a bench, both paws wrapped tight around a barbell as he steadily pumped it up and down in time with every odd beat of the song played behind him. The weights of the barbell were enough to make the man's eyes widen, but it seemed to be entirely too easy for the panther working them.

Sam was shirtless, just as he had been when Paul had first met him. Beneath his fur, Paul could see his muscles work at lifting and lowering that barbell again and again, and it worked a shiver through him as he simply stood there at the garage entrance and stared. It didn't help when his gaze drew down along the panther's body. The shorts he wore were almost entirely too small for him, and they accented every curve and bulge of his sheath and balls. The human actually had to force himself to look away, lest he start salivating.

Then his eyes dipped to the feline's bare footpaws, and Paul found himself completely and utterly at a loss. He was what the anthros liked to call a 'pawslut.' He didn't know what it was, or why he liked them as much as he did, but Paul knew well the moment his eyes fixed on those curled toes that he wouldn't be able to easily draw his eyes back away again. They twitched and flexed with each push of Sam's arms, probably completely without the panther's knowledge. Little hints of Sam's retracted claws sparkled in the sun as their tips peeked out.

Paul stumbled a little closer, almost without thinking. His eyes remained fixed on those paws, larger than any human feet and covered in that soft fur. They were raised slightly off the larger-than-normal bench, spread apart slightly as they rested on a broad bar. It put them at just the absolute perfect height for Paul as he slowly walked around the oblivious feline. He chewed on his lower lip as he leaned over one of those paws and, before he could even tell himself not to, he lightly ground his hips forward to work his straining malehood against those pawpads.

The touch was enough to open Sam's eyes, and it equally snapped Paul out of his trance. "Hey, Sam!" he said as he fought to keep his cheeks from ignition. He drew himself back from those paws, and tried his best to keep them between Sam's line of sight and his own straining denim. "You said I should come over around now, so..."

The panther blinked as he sat up, legs still raised slightly. He turned and glanced over at the CD player, and Paul could see a small digital time display on it as he firmly shifted his focus. "Ah, yeah I did!" was the panther's reply, and he grinned as he set the barbell back behind his head and swung his footpaws down and off the bar and bench. "How're you doing? Can I get you something? Drink?"

Paul shook his head as he pressed his hands down firmly into his lap in an attempt to hide his hardon from Sam, and it grew a little easier as he sat down on the vacated bench. "Nah, I'm good, thanks. I didn't mean to interrupt, though. You can keep going, if you like. That was some impressive weight you were lifting."

With a shrug, the feline strode over to the CD player and hit pause before he turned back to Paul. "I can push a bit more. I don't like to unless I've got someone here to spot me, though. Don't wanna choke myself on my pride, after all!" He laughed and shook his head as he folded his arms across his bare chest. "So, let's get down to it, mmm? You wanna help out around the place a little, do you?"

The man nodded as he fought to keep an even smile. "Sorta, yeah. You mentioned last night that you used the garage for your little makeshift gym here." He glanced around the garage again. "You've got a... a lot of stuff in here. There's really not a whole lot of space for cars or anything, and there's barely enough room for all your equipment."

"We were thinkin' about getting someone in to extend the garage back and out a bit," Sam said. "You know, give us a proper storage space for one and an actual home gym for two." He hooked a thumb over his shoulder at the garage's back wall. "We've got plenty of room back behind here, and we don't really do anything with it. There's still plenty of backyard if we want folks over to entertain, and we do that sometimes. Hey! You should probably head on over next time we do!"

But Paul shook his head as his smile turned into a grimace. "Oh, I don't know about that. You know how a lot of the people around here look at me. I don't wanna give you guys a bad name or anything." The smile returned as Sam lifted both eyebrows, and he rolled his eyes. "Alright, if I said I'd consider it, would it get me off the hook?"

That was enough to make the panther nod, and he grinned right back. "At least for now. As for now, what do you think?" He waved a paw across the equipment. "What're we going to need for all this?"

Happy to turn his attention away from the panther's paws or thoughts of the town's dislike for him, Paul looked around the room slowly. "Well, things are packed pretty tight as they are right now. You can get around, but I bet you move stuff off to the side when you're not using them, right?" He waited for the panther's nod before he continued. "Well, you'd probably have enough room without all these boxes. So if you want, we can just double the depth of the garage, wall it off, and maybe build you a little shed. Or, if you'd prefer, we could just do the shed and you could keep all your equipment here in the garage." He shrugged as he turned back to Sam. "Your call!"

Sam nodded slowly as he pulled open the door to the bar fridge and pulled out a little bottle of water. "And what are we going to be looking at, for all this?" he asked.

At that, Paul could only smile. "Well, I'd just be happy to help out, personally," he replied. "If you can get me the materials, I've already got just about all the tools I'd need. Might take me a little bit by myself, but if you or Max wanna help while you're home, it'd make things go faster. So we can figure out how much the materials will cost later, and we can go from there."

The panther shrugged as he unscrewed the cap on the bottle. "I'm not sure how much help I'm actually going to be," he said after he took a little sip. "I'm going to be heading out for work for about a couple of weeks. There's this big conference I've got to go speak at in New York, and..." The panther shrugged.

Paul just shook his head, smile still on his face. "Well, you've got nothing to worry about on that score. Who knows? Maybe with Max's help I'll be able to get it all done before you're back. It'll be hard work, but that's good for you sometimes."

Again Sam nodded, but there was a shift in his expression as he looked at Paul over the top of his bottle. "Yeah, I'm sure she'd be happy to help you," he replied, and his guarded tone invoked a little confusion in Paul. "I mean, she'd also be more than happy to tease you the whole time you're workin', so I don't know how much you'll actually get done before I'm home."

There was no amusement in the panther's tone as he spoke, and it caught Paul completely off-guard. It wasn't like the playful ribbing he usually took part in. It sounded to the man's ears like he was genuinely offended, or at least put off. "Well, maybe we can speak to her about it," Paul carefully said. He kept his own voice even, emotionless. If something was going on... "It's not exactly the worst thing I've had to endure for what I find attractive, but if it's going to be a problem for you guys-"

"You do find her attractive though, right?"

The question almost sent Paul reeling. The panther knew the answer already; there was really no point in asking the question at all. They'd addressed the issue very thoroughly during dinner the night Paul had arrived in town. "I... uh, yeah. Course I do. She's as beautiful as you always say she is, and she's great fun to be around. 'Attractive' doesn't quite cover it." He frowned slightly as he looked up at the feline. "Sam, what's wrong?"

Sam's tail lashed nervously against the fridge as he shrugged, and he set the bottle of water down on top of the CD player. "Well, I'm just gonna be out of town for a while, and it'll be the first real time I have been since you've arrived. And we like you, really. Quite a lot. And what you're offerin' with this extension for my equipment's a real treat, don't get me wrong."

As understanding slowly began to dawn on Paul, the man shook his head quickly. "Oh... oh! No, no! You've got nothing to worry about with me, Sam! I... shit, I'm not going to sleep with your wife while you're gone! I wouldn't dare!" He shook his head once more. "No, man. I'm not like that. You guys are married. What is it, eight years now? Like hell I'm going to slip into the middle of that. That'd just be wrong, and I'd probably have to move again afterwards." He began to chuckle.

The feline nodded slowly as Paul laughed. "What if... we asked you to?"

_That_instantly snapped Paul's chuckles out of existence. "If... wait, what?"

The confusion on Paul's features must have been evident, as the seriousness of Sam's expression slipped and a hint of a smile cracked through. "I'm saying, what if we ask you to sleep with her? Would you dare then, or would it still be off-limits?"

Paul's jaw went slack for a moment before he caught himself. "... what?"

As Sam laughed, he walked over to sit down on the bench beside Paul. "Well, like I said, we like you plenty. You're good people. You're also human. This's a pretty important thing." The panther frowned slightly. "Don't know anything about anthro genetics?"

When Paul shook his head, still somewhat confused, Sam continued. "Well, I know you know about the World War Two experiments that made us in the first place. They weren't intended to create a species that could breed, but all the bits and pieces were there. Genetically, we're kinda human and kinda animal and kinda... something else entirely."

"I heard about that, once," Paul said as he nodded slowly. "I read a book about the history, the early war experiments. There was a third genetic element. Kind of a synthetic genetic material that was a cohesive... thing... that kept the spliced DNA together, right? Except that it could be produced naturally by the body, and passed along?"

Sam chuckled again and nodded once. "Yeah, something like that. I'm not a biologist. Thing is, that combination of different factors is how we propagate. Anthros weren't allowed to breed during the war period, and there were severe restrictions on us before we won our rights. It's also why you sometimes see hybrids wandering about. I work with one, actually. Carl's a good guy. Lion on his mother's side, wolf on his dad's. We have fun calling him a lolf. Doesn't hurt that he laughs easy. We've got a whole line of office-unique memes thanks to him."

Despite his amusement, Paul shrugged. "And this has what to do with me, then?" he asked. "I mean, Max is your wife, Sam. I'm not really sure any husband really wants to ask the neighbour to have sex with his woman. Uh... female. Mate?"

"Mate. And marriage aside, she's not mine." He smirked. "Maxine could beat me six ways from Sunday if she wanted to. She's not mine, I'm not hers. We love each other. That's the nature of the bond. As for the point... you're not getting it, yet?"

It took Paul a few more confused seconds of contemplation before he finally settled on what Sam was getting at. "Oh. You're all biologically compatible with one another... but you're not compatible with humans. Right?"

The panther's grin almost split his head in two. "Exactly! Well... there's ways around it. I understand there's genetic therapy treatment around these days to manipulate existing human DNA to bring it closer in line with anthro DNA, but the fertility rates aren't too high after it. That's not quite the point, though. The point is that you're not able to get my Max all knocked up. We want kids, but that's gonna be between her and I, thank you very much."

"Well, you're going to make great parents one day, I'm sure," Paul said, as he leaned back a little. "So, I... what are you actually asking me here, Sam? Are you actually, honestly asking me if I'll sleep with your wife while you're away? Cause no offence, but they make shaped silicone for that sorta thing, don't they?"

The suggestion alone was enough to make Sam burst out laughing, and he nodded vigorously as he clapped Paul on the back. "Oh, that they do! And believe me, Max's got a toy drawer that'd put the Playboy Mansion to shame. But it's not gonna be as simple as that, not for her and not for you." He nodded back towards the house. "I'm going to be heading out in a little under a week, and gone for the next two. Now, she'll be fine for the first week I'm gone, but... well, according to the calendar, she's due to go into heat for the second half of my trip. Probably persist until a little after I'm back, too, and this presents a problem."

"They make condoms to solve those problems," Paul countered quietly. In his mind, his thoughts were screaming at him to stop giving Sam other ideas. There was a golden opportunity before him, and his dick certainly didn't want it to go to waste. There were other considerations that kept Paul from listening, though. "I'm sure it wouldn't be too big a deal to have some on-hand."

Sam just shrugged. "And that'll do for when I'm back. We've had some close calls in the past, though. She's gotten over-eager, and... well, let's say that I'm just glad I've been able to pull out in time, those times we've gotten things to work right. It ain't perfect, but we've been lucky with it so far." He grinned. "But you'd be able to give her the stuffing that she needs. It won't sate her heat; her body's not going to stop pumping those hormones until she's bred or it's passed, but it'll definitely keep her head on straight while I'm gone. Give her a bit more relief than the toys will."

Paul nodded slowly, his malehood still all but screaming at him. "Well, I... don't really know how to respond to this," he managed after a moment. "I mean, yeah, I'm interested. Hell yeah I am. But this is kinda..."

"Weird?"

"Yeah, weird. Very weird. I mean, I suppose that it makes sense. It's just a lot to take in." He took a slow breath. "What do you think? Where do you stand on all this?"

"I stand to make a killing, selling the recordings from the hidden cameras." The panther laughed as Paul's face turned bright red again. "Oh, don't worry, there aren't any. Seriously, though? I, ah... well, when she's in heat, things are easy enough." The moment of levity faded away as Sam glanced towards the CD player, about as far from Paul as he could. "Used to be easier. I'm gettin' old fast, I guess, but I... have a bit of trouble keeping it up with her."

As Paul nodded slowly, the panther immediately jumped to the defensive. "It's not that I don't want to! God knows I do. But she's still got her needs, and... well, they gotta be met." A very forced smile came to the panther's muzzle. "And if she needs it, I'll do what I have to do to make sure she gets it. And like I said... we like you plenty. And we trust you."

The human nodded again as he fixed Sam with a firm stare. "Yeah, but where do you fit into all this? I mean when you come back and she's in heat, and she's still coming over to my place for it... are you gonna be okay? Is that really something that you want?"

Sam huffed a sigh as he glanced away again, and looked out across the sun-baked street. "Honestly? I'd rather do it myself. But we can't risk that sorta thing, and I've still gotta be out of town when this hits her. I'm not gonna be able to do it, even if I want to." He smirked as he nudged Paul with his elbow. "But hey, if she talks you up a bit and you don't mind an audience, I might sit in. See just how you're treating my Max."

If Paul thought his blush had been given time to fade, the suggestion brought it right back in full force. "W-well... I-uh... I mean, I don't mind putting on a show," he stammered. "Just that... well, I've only really been watched doing it once, and he joined in." He chuckled nervously through his laugh. "Not much chance of that happening, is there?"

"Oh, probably not," came the panther's reply, but he turned away from Paul again pretty quickly. "But hey, we'll just have to wait and see how things end up going, right?"

Even despite how quickly Sam moved, Paul knew anthros well enough to spot the burning red inside the feline's ears. He was just as embarrassed as Paul was. Whether that was at the thought of being involved or doing something that involved another male, Paul wasn't quite sure. Something set that flesh red, though, and it was hard to miss the swelling in those way-too-tight shorts. Whatever it was, it certainly tweaked the panther just right. "Yeah, I guess we will," he replied, as he stood up. "Well... listen. I need to give this some serious thought, okay? This is... well, it's weird!"

Sam nodded, and he very slowly turned back to Paul again as he too stood. By the time he faced the man, the heat had faded from his ears but the bulge in his pants hadn't even begun to subside. It was difficult for Paul to tear his eyes away. "Well, we just thought that you, of all people, would be up for it. We've not really had an opportunity like this in... well, ever." He shrugged. "Look. If you think you might, just go get yourself checked out at the clinic in town. Maxine's gonna insist on getting your load in her if you go for this and, while there's not much that goes between species, we don't want the nastier ones that do, okay? Clean bill of health, and you're right to go."

Immediately, Paul nodded. He managed to keep Sam's frankness from inducing a fresh blush of his own; his cheeks had been burned enough for one day. "Well, I'll tell you what. It's just good for your own peace of mind, so I'll head down there now anyway. You talk to Max once she gets home, maybe come around later tonight, and we can discuss this together. I'd really like to know where everyone stands before we get into... well, this kind of thing."

"Now see, that's the kinda sensible attitude that makes me think this wasn't such a bad idea after all," Sam replied as his broad smile returned to his face. "Well, you go on and do that then, and we'll pop on by later tonight for that chat. Meantime, I'm gonna get back to my weights. They aren't gonna lift themselves!"

For his part, Paul just nodded and waved as he backed out of the garage slowly and started towards his house. A thousand different thoughts and options flicked through his mind as he took that short trip back to his car, but one thing was absolutely for sure. No matter what happened, the night to come was definitely going to be an interesting one.

He made a bee-line right for the car, unlocked the door, and slipped into the driver's seat. There was no sense in waiting after all, and if things went well, that clean bill of health might be needed sooner rather than later.
