A human Caucasian male of 6'3", brown hair and dark blue-green eyes stood before the glass that made up the front of the bridge. You could see there was more to his smile than any particular form of happiness. He sighed as he looked out at his home world for the last time. He knew that this was the day he had been anticipating for the last 90 years. Just as I remember seeing it in the vision, he thought before he forced himself to turn from the captivating sight, letting his face return to its natural, seemingly semi-angered appearance. He then walked back to the rear of the compartment and took up his seat in the captain's chair, linking himself up with the ship via the system implanted in his skull.
"Hauger, you getting the feed on this?" he asked through the interface once he was done plugging in. The ship's cook, often referred to by the crew as 'Jaker-Baker', immediately responded. "Yeah, Sean, I'm watching right now. Why're you asking me, by the way? Is this going to be another one of those big things you like celebrating?" To this, the captain said "No, Jacob, this is when I ask you to open the Brightshadow vials. I was hoping for another decade, but that is not to be the case." The two minutes of silence that followed felt to Sean like an eternity until his friend finally spoke. "This had better be some really fucked up joke, Bridges, or I will have Bobs cannon your ass to hell. There is no way it is happening now, do you hear me!?
It was no surprise that by the end of this retort the normally well-mannered tom was snarling his full head off. The full extent of how much the captain's statement had upset him was evidenced in his mentioning the ship's gunner, Robert Applestine. The serpent never liked shooting anyone, but when he pulled that trigger, his 100% accuracy rate made him more than lethal enough to compensate for his pacifism. However, all of this meant little to Sean as he had only moments before he needed to return to his household to prepare for what was to come. "Jake," he said after a moment's pause "the litter will be fine. I can handle them the same as you and Sarah." This caught the vulpine by surprise as he and his vixen wife had only just discovered she was pregnant. Then he remembered just what the seemingly frail little human he had once been the same species as really was. Therefore, he only had one single question to ask.
"Are you sure it's today?" Sean could only sigh once more before the admission came forth. "As sure as I am about the wolf skinny dipping in my cousin's snatch." Richard had a fetish for felines that the whole crew knew about. Ever since the lioness had joined on as engineer, they knew the miserable little helmsman wouldn't be able to keep it in his sheath. The certainty of the intimacy of the two being used to confirm the certainty of another matter was enough to satisfy Hauger. "I'll get started on them right now. Will you be saying anything to the crew, or are you just heading straight there?"
You could almost hear the regret in the human's voice as he replied. "I'm not delaying this any more than I have to. After I activate the command sequences, I'll be leaving you all to it. There's nothing I can say that any of you don't already know me well enough to come up with on my behalf." Jake just laughed at how true the last bit was and got off the coms panel of the mess hall. Sean still had one last thing to do, though, before shutting down the link he currently had with the Empress. "LISIA, sweetheart, I know you were listening. Please don't force me to make it an order." The AI simply replied "I know, Dad, I already set everything up. Just need the authorization code from you and that'll finish it all."
"Thank you, dearest. Authority code: Vengeance." After a few seconds she spoke once more. "Codes accepted, Brightshadow protocols engaging. 'Night, Daddy, and happy birthday." Again did she surprise him by just how innocent she could seem while still being the brains of the most lethal ship in the 'known' universe. The proud parent couldn't help but smile at his daughter's words. "Good night, little LISIA," he said tearfully, "I'll be sure to wake you nice and early for school tomorrow, okay?" "Thanks, Daddy." She happily countered. "You're welcome, sweetheart. I love you." Thus was the shared little bit of playacting between them brought to an end. "I love you too, Dad," she said before he disconnected himself, "I love you too."
Not bothering to stand Sean simply bubble-Gated himself off the Empress and into the Central Sanctuary of the Church. This was in fact the most massive chamber in the entire Hidden Church of the Elden Gods. And it hosted the Grand Alter upon which rested the two most holy artifacts someone of the same theology could ever only dream of seeing. The Book of Beginnings was to an Embiranite what the intact first Torah ever is to a Jew. The Sword of Souls was the best thing that could happen to a mortal in a death match against even the Goddess of Souls herself as it was the ultimate holy weapon/etcetera. And now he was going to make use of one of the other applications it had.
In observance of the formalities of what was soon to occur, the human walked from the entrance until he reached the Alter, kneeling before it as a sign of his serving those to whom the Church was dedicated. After reciting certain passages of the Book in proper Eldred, he finally stood and unsheathed the blade, setting the tip against the underside of his chin. "By the Power, the Will, the Promise, and the Sacrifice, let it be so." Those were the last words of one giving up life as he knew it for a greater purpose. He then put all the speed and strength his body had into a single upward thrust, the blade managing to exit through the top of his skull by a few inches. The power of the Sword was all that kept him from dying long enough to turn around so he would fall onto his back upon the Alter. Suck on my Project Rebirth, Planet Earth, 'cuz sis is gonna be pissed!!!
So ends the tale of the Forgotten Son of Earth.
1 hour later: Oval Office: Washington D. C.: United States of America. "Yes, General?" she asked, wondering why this call had been made at such an inconvenient time. "Brightshadow has been lit." the man on the other end told her. "Do we have permission to respond?" She smiled at the thought. "Get it done." She replied. "Thank you, Madame President." Was all she heard before he ended the call. Now to celebrate. She thought to herself as she experienced her arousal reaching a cresendo. She reached over to her intercom. "Shane, I need you in my office, now." She then proceeded to prepare herself for more rounds than her honeymoon had consisted of. When her husband finally arrived, he was fortunate to have already stripped himself naked. She was prepared as well. The entire building was closed off that day and didn't reopen until the second morning after. Shockingly enough, no one asked why...
