Star's Tales chapter 1
This is the first story of Star's Tales, it is meant to be just a teaser and opener of Star's story giving the events that motivated hir to become a police officer and will spur the events that will come in other chapters
Star's Tales Chapter 1
My life has never been what one would consider normal but then being a Chakat, normal is purely subjective. I grew up in a friendly neighborhood never worrying about the problems of the world, after all I was a young happy cub with two loving parents, and three siblings, how could anything bad come to change this happy life? I know...life isn't that simple right? Well things did change, and that change would shape the direction of my life from then on.
It started when me and my twin sister Icepaw begged our sire, Snowpelt, to take us to the park, our older sisters were staying with friends for the weekend and our mother, Blizzardpaw, was at work so it was just the two of us and our Sire alone in the house and Ice and I had never liked being cooped up for too long, besides it was coming up on christmas and the park would be decorated for the holidays. So we put on our jackets , our gloves, and headed for the park. It was a innocent enough outing, we'd gone dozens of times before, but today the park was playing host to something more sinister. When we arrived at the Park it was packed with humans, all of whom seemed to be part of a ralley, I didn't pay much attention to it though, I was more concerned with reaching the playground and playing in the snow.
Icepaw's coat allowed hir to blend in with the snow except for hir black spots, shi had white fur all over hir body with black jaguar pattern spots covering hir body. Shi was lithe even for a cub and always had that graceful cat look, which ofcourse shi was, shi loved to dance and had begged our parents to put hir in dance classes. I on the other hand stood out against the white snow, I was a snowleopard patterned chakat but my fur was pure midnight black, my spots were blueish white which ofcourse is what had given me the name Starpelt, because I looked like a field of stars. Everyone always told me that I was very exotic looking, back then I honestly didn't know what exotic meant but they seemed to mean it in a nice way so I took it as a compliment.
As Icepaw and I ran for the play ground, Ice throwing snowballs at me from behind, the noise from the ralley behind us grew louder and they seemed angry about something, our sire seemed to be growing worried about something, shi raced over to us and began to usher us out of the park, the yelling and screaming behind us growing louder and closer. We grew scared clinging to our Sire's hands, I could hear Icepaw starting to cry as shi gripped our Sire's hands as we ran, We ducked behind a store outside of the park, and our sire opened a janitor's closet and pushed me and Icepaw inside telling us to be quiet and not come out no matter what we heard. Shi closed us into the closet, I held my twin sister as we hid in that closet, it wasn't long untile the screams started. Those screams of anger, of hate..and of pain.
Later I would learn that the ralley was for a group of dissidents calling themselves Humans First. They hated furs, blaming furs for the lack of jobs, for anything really, they belived that Fur's were no better then animals. They had spotted us playing and chased us down, they beat our Sire, Snowpelt, to death, shi had never stood a chance. Five other Furs were murdered that day besides our Sire, two of them were cubs, younger then Icepaw and myself. The cops had showed up in time to break up the riot before the humans found me and my sister, but not in time to save our Sire. My sister and I were found in that closet clinging to each other, crying, thankfully they had the decency to make sure we didn't see the beaten body of our Sire.
11 years later....
Starpelt stood infront of the grave of hir Sire, a bouquete of white roses laid under the headstone. Shi turned to the fox morph staring at him with a gentle smile."That day changed me, and my family forever." Shi said, shi had been telling him the full story of what happened the day hir sire died. Shi had met this fox morph four years after hir sire's death and they had been friends ever since. He had an unusual coloring for a fox, but that was due to a dye job, his fur was normally the regular orangeish red that was common for foxes, but he commonly had his fur dyed a very dark violet that seemed almost black at times. His name was Fin Foxglove, he came from a very wealthy family, his father was a software engineer that ran his own software firm. Shi loved hanging out with Fin while both of their parents were out working, hir mother was a Doctor, so shi was gone for long hours.
Fin looked at hir with a sad but understanding expression across his muzzle."I can only imagine how much that day must have hurt you." He said softly."I have never lost anyone like that, I mean we both had our share of Fur haters in highschool but I never expereinced that kind of violence." He said shaking his head. Shi smiled softly at him, shi only been Seven when shi lost hir sire, shi was eightteen now and coming into hir own. While hir mother had hoped that shi would have wanted to be a doctor like hir, Star had other ideas for a career. Besides hir older sister Ruby had already followed in their mother's pawsteps. Shi had signed up for the Police acadamey. Shi looked down at the forms in hir hands that held the insignia of the Police Department. The forms were filled out with all hir information
"I don't want anyone to have to experience that kind of violence again, I don't want anyone to lose family members to that kind of hatred." Shi said looking at hir best friend."That's why I am going to join the police force, I am going to become a cop, and I will put a stop to things like this!" Shi said firmly. Shi had made up hir mind and there was one thing that hir family all agree'd on, once Starpelt made up hir mind there was no stopping hir. This was ofcourse only the beginning of a very long and adventerous tale.
