Chapter 2.

How many tears should i shed

On weekend, finally, there was the 'Animexx', the anime Convention. Ryan, his sister Megan and Ruki took a ride on a train to get there. Megan and Ruki began to laugh an chatter about everything they could thought of, but Ryan seemed distracted. He was always looking out of the windows, hoping to see Cath anywhere. First he thought he could take her with him and tell everyone it was a professionell cosplay, but it would be too conspicous.

"Hey Ryan?! Are you okay?" a voice called.

He snapped back to reality and looked at Ruki.

"Huh? Yes, yes... i didn't sleep well last night." he asnwered and in fact he really didn't sleep well. The same dream he had, the night Cath showed up. Since then he had this dream every night. Later ariving at the station they met Steve, Nick and the others, after some time in the city, they went on to the convention. He looked forward to this event for weeks, but somehow... he felt strange. Everyone around him was happy, laughing, telling jokes and doing funny stuff, but Ryan... he felt somehow... lonely. He sat mostly in the gaming room, beating up opponent after opponent on the X-Box, Soul Calibour V with Ezio.But after a while he got bored and went outside. It got late and nobody was outside anymore. He breathed the fresh air and suddenly heared steps behind him.

"Are you alright, Master?"

He turned around to face Cath.

"Yeah, but stop calling me master, please. Anyway, why are you asking?"

"I'm Sorry. When you told me about this, you seemed very happy, but now... whats wrong?"

He sighted and looked away.

"I don't know, im not feeling very good right now."

"Ryan, you..." she stopped and looked around."...someone's coming." then she dissapeared. Ryan sighed as he saw who was coming. It was Ruki.

"Ryan, what are you doing here? We looked everywhere for you."

"I just needed some fresh air." he explained.

She looked at him, she seemed annoyed.

"You cant tell me that. I know you, whats wrong."

"Its nothing."

He walked by and headed to the buiding. But Ruki stepped into his way.

"Wait, i don't let you go until you tell me whats wrong."

Ryan grumbled something.

'Sure just tell her that i met a digimon. She would think im crazy and send me to a asylum.' he thought.

"Ryan, come on!" Rukis said in a demanding voice.

'Thats exactly why Cath has to hide all the time... maybe...' He sighed and looked at her.

"Ruki, i... last week i... i met someone..." he began to explain.

"Someone i know?"

"No, im sure not." Ryan looked around and sighed. "Cath, could you come please."

She apeared right in front of them. Ruki nearly fall to the ground, and stared at Cath.

"What the... thats either the most impressive cosplay i ever saw... or its... a real Digimon."

"Three guesses..." Ryan chuckled, but Cath looked at him, a little bit worried.

"Are you sure thats a good idea, master?"

"Yeah, we can trust her."

Then Ruki began to laugh."Thats... so cool, come we have to show her to the others."

Ryan stopped her. "Ruki wait, i don't think its a good idea."

"Why not, they would... oh... its definitly no good idea."

She looked around.

"How about Nick and Victoria later?"

Ryan understood. They've planned to stay at Victorias Place this night. Her parents were somewhere else, so they would have the house for them alone. If they tell them about Cath, she wouldn't have to hide during that time.

"I think we can trust them. Just dont try to make too much trouble, Ruki. Cath, is that okay with you?"

She nodded.

"If you say so, Master."

"Stop that, please."

After a few minutes of explainig, Ryan and Ruki went back to the Convention. Cath dissapeard like always.

"Is she a Renamon?" asked Ruki.

"Yeah... somehow, she is a Chaosrenamon." he explained.

"And why do you call her Cath?"

"It's a nickname, we thought it would be easier than her long name." he continued.

But then Ruki was concerned about something other.

"Anyways, why does she call you Master?"

"I don't know, im begging her to stop that, but after a while she's doing it again."

He sighed. 'Somehow i have to get her using my name... more often at least.'

A little bit later, the Convention ended slowly, Ryan and the others left and went to a train. After the train ride, they had to walk a little bit to Viktorias house, but before they were in Viktorias street, Ruki told all to stop.

"Ryan and i have to show you something."

The others looked at them and Ryan sighed.

"Cath, come please."

The she appeared right beside him and bowed, greeting the others. But the others looked at her like they saw a ghost. Ruki and Ryan explained everything to them. But while they were explaining, Ryan saw someone approaching them.

"Cath you should hide, there's..."

"He's a Tamer!"

He looked at Cath, how could she knew? She recognized the way he was looking at her.

"I can sense another Digimon." she explained

Then Ryan saw a small device in the hands of the Guy, surely a Digivice. He had short blonde hair and wore a long grey coat. He stopped a short distance before the others. Ryan didn't really expect that they would met another tamer, he never really thought about that. Then a small fireball with hands and eyes appeared near to the guy.

"A Demimeramon." Cath added calm.

"Could you beat it?"

She nodded and stepped forward. The guy smiled.

"A Rookie?" he asked,"okay, in that case. EVOLUTION!"

Ryan stared at the Demimeramon as it began to glow suddenly, it disformed and grew and got even bigger than Cath.

"MERAMON!"

A tall burning figure stood in front of Cath. But she didn't seem very impressed instead she leaped into the Air, giving the first shoot.

"ONYX STORM!"

Black crystal shards apeared and shoot at the other Digimon. But Meramon just began to laugh and stepped with indcredible speed out of the way. But Cath didn't even think of stopping now, she gave another try, throwing the dark crystals at Meramon, hitting him directly. But he didn't even flinch, he just stood there and began to laugh even louder.

"FLAMETHROWER!"

Suddenly large fireballs fell from the clouds, aiming at Cath. But she was fast, she avoided them and dodged every single one. Meramon smirked and let even more meteors fell at her. She dodged them again without any effort, but forget to pay attention where she was jumping to. She got to near to Meramon and before realizing it, Meramon attacked.

"FIREFIST!!!!"

His fist began to burn and he hit Cath straight in the belly. She was thrown against a wall, and fell to the ground. She coughed and even spit out some blood. Cath tried to get up again but Meramon jumped in front of her, grabbing her at the neck and lifting her up.

"AHH!" she screamed in pain, the fire burned her fur and skin. Ryan stared at her and tried to ran to her, but Ruki stopped him.

„Wait!"

"No i have to help her!" he screamed.

"R...ah Ryan..."

"Finish her, Meramon!" The guy shouted. Then even Nick couldn't hold Ryan back, he sprinted up to the other Tamer, reaching for his pocket. Ryan draw a knife, the blade jumped out and he tackled the other Guy to the ground. The blade just about his troath, Ryan pinned him down.

"Stop your Digimon!"

He stared at Ryan, in total shock and didn't react at first.

"I SAID STOP HIM, OR I WILL RIP YOU FUCKING TROATH OUT!!!!" Ryan shouted on him.

"M-Meramon, stop it... let her go!"

The Meramon let of her and stared at Ryan. Ryan stood up, the knife still pointing at the other Tamer.

"Go!"

He turned around, called his Digimonpartner and slowly walked away. Ryan ran to Cath, helping her up. She kept holding her neck, the fur was burned and her skin black on some spots.

"It hurts Master..."

"Don't worry, come on we get to Viktoria... we can heal that. Come on, Cath."

"Ryan... it... it hurts...."

Ryan was standing beside the couch. They laid her down and wrapped bandages and some medicines around her neck. Now she was asleep, like everyone else, except for Ryan. He sat down and leaned against the couch. He was worried about her, they had lost and if ryan hadnt used the knife, Cath maybe would be...

'Don't think about that... just don't...'

He sat there for a while, then he heared someone calling his name quietly, well more or less.

"Master..."

He looked up to see Cath looking at him, she seemed tired.

"Hey are you alright."

"Im okay, Master."

"Please Cath, stop that... why are you calling me Master all the time?"

She sighed and looked away.

"I'm... i'm used to do so..."

"Why that?" he asked.

Cath continued"Youre... not my first Tamer... his name was Josh, but he insisted that i call him Master."

"Im sorry for that, what happened?"

"He... he is dead... he got killed, just a moment after he send me away, he didnt want me anymore."

He looked at her surprised about that.

"Why did he do that."

"I... i lost a battle and got hurt... but he... had...he punished me after that. And then i lost more fights... so he... decided to kill me. He aimed a gun at me, but... instead he was killed... i dont know how, or by whom... i only know that i was taken back to the digital world, got healed and a few weeks after that, they told me that i would get a new Master."

"He tried to kill you... he deserved to die..."

"Master... i failed again... i failed you. Please forgive me, i will success the next time, i promise. Please... don't be mad at me... you... you can punish me if you want, master! I wont ever..."

He grabbed her shoulder gently, and she stopped.

"Cath, dont say something like that. I will not punish you! It wasnt your fault! Meramon was on a higher level."

She looked at him, totally surprised and a little bit shocked.

"Youre... not mad at me, Master..."

"Im not like that old Tamer, i will never ever treat you like that! I will never punish you or beat you up, understood!"

She nodded, but didnt really understand why he was so kind...

"You... why did you interfere in the fight, Master? You could have got injured, or... worse..."

He turned his head and looked out of the Window. There were clouds, so not a sningle star or the moon could show up.

"You know... i dont have this many friends and... i dont want to loose one of them..."

She was shocked.'Friend?'

"You... your... friend...?"

"Yes, Cath... i dont want to be your master, and i dont want to be just your tamer either... i want to be your friend! Do you understand? I want that we are friends."

He looked at her and saw tears running down her cheeks. But she began to smile slightly.

"I... Yes... i want to be your friend, Ryan!"

She launched forward began to hug him. She buried her face in his shoulder. He heared her crying, but somehow, he was happy and returned the hug.

"Thank you... thank you, Ryan"
