Black Hell Part 6
I would like to appologize for my haitus. Kinda had to get away from the story for a while, but anyways I'm back with another part to Black Hell. I'm going to keep this short so I'll see you at the bottom notes.
I felt the coldness of the water around my scales, causing me to panic as I gasped for air. As I opened my eyes, I realized that I was only dreaming, sitting in my chair with a newspaper on my chest. I panted, grasping the part of my chest where my heart was, sweating.
"It... was just a dream..." I said to myself, slowly getting up from my chair as I set the newspaper down on the table and walked to the faucet to get some water. As I finished drinking, I slowly walked back to my chair and sighed, thinking of the past events of my life.
"I wonder what happened to Tiff after that explosion on that bridge... Its been two years now and I haven't seen any sight of her. I hope she's okay..." I said to myself again.
It was after I said that, that I caught sight of an article on the front page. It read out "Skriziana Government gets first physical proof of Tiff Leynaker's well being, forming a search party. Any volunteer's interested in this search please meet out in front of the Military Forces building at 5:00a.m. today."
My ears perked as I blinked a few times, jumping up as I grabbed the newspaper and read the entire article though, turning to the clock afterwards as I noticed that it was only half an hour more until 5:00a.m. I didn't waste any time as I ran into my bedroom and suited up in my self customized Flexi-Armor. As I finished up the last few straps on my suit, I ran out of my room and down the stairs, misplacing a foot as I was soon tumbling down them instead, finally reaching the bottom in a dazed mess.
I recovered shortly afterwards, though, and was soon out the door and starting up my speeder bike, soon in the air and flying towards my destination. Upon arriving and getting off my speeder, I noticed all the eyes of the already gathered people upon me. I just laughed and shook my head.
"So, its only you few who are going to help find my partner?" I asked.
Only a few of the braver ones nodded. I just let out a chuckle and noticed a few friends and acquaintances walking up to me. Of them were Raif, Enten, and Ajuko. But something puzzled me as I noticed a wolf-like person also approach me.
He glanced me over and then stared at me.
"So you're the legendary Skie?" he asked.
I slightly tilted my head at him and then shrugged. "If that is how you wish to refer to me. What's it to you?" I asked him in return.
He let out a slight chuckle and held his hand out to me. "I'm Wolfian, your legend has spread wide and far, even beyond the galaxy Skriziana itself resides. I've come here to help you search for Tiff." he replied.
I starred at him and then nodded again, letting out a grunt as I felt a particularly hard pat from Raif on my back.
"Well Skie, if it isn't you! Where have you been? You can't tell me you've been cooped up in your house this whole time!" he asked.
I shook myself a little and laughed. "Well actually I have, but I've come out a few times to attend military meetings. But when I noticed this search's headline in the newspaper, I've decided to put my past behind and join in. This may be my only hope to find Tiff you know, and I wouldn't pass it up for the world." I replied to him.
He let out a slight morn and then nodded. "Well, you'll have my full support and strength with you on this hunt my friend. I even went to the trouble to pull Enten and Ajuko out of their daily lives to assist." he replied, pointing to both of them who were nodding to his words.
"I've come back to help so that I can repay the debt my planet has to you. I hope I'm of some use." Enten said to me.
"And I've come to repay pretty much the same debt my planet has to you. And once again, I must say that I'm very glad that you did help us in that great time of need. Your presence in that war saved my planet from total corruption." Ajuko said, bowing his head.
For that slight moment of time I had to think, remembering back to events that occurred nearly five months ago of when the Verconians disbanded from Draconia and invaded Ajuko's home planet afterwards.
As soon as I remembered, I bowed my head in return.
"Thanks my friends, it means a lot to me." I replied, turning back to Wolfian.
"Now, as for you. Your going to get yourself killed in that attire." I said to him, pointing at his clothing.
He looked down at himself and then back up to me. "Well then, what do you believe I should wear instead of this? A clown suit?!" he said sarcastically in replied.
I laughed and then gripped his arm tightly, pulling him over to a Flexi-Armor bin that was assembled just for this occasion.
"Here, get in one of these." I replied to him, releasing my grip.
He pulled his arm away and held it. "But those are for your species only." he said with a slight growl in his words.
I laughed again and then pulled one up and displayed the "One-Size-Fits-All" tag on it.
He looked at it and sighed. "Well sorry, I didn't see the tag." he replied.
I patted his back. "Ah don't worry about it, but next time you act sarcastic, don't expect any remorse from me. I act completely different when I'm caught up in my work." I replied back to him.
He nodded and started walking back to the rest of the commoners that would be in this search, but I caught his attention and motioned him to follow me back to my friends. He blinked a few times and nodded, following me.
All five of us were soon sitting down next to each other in chairs, sparking up a discussion as we awaited for the one who would be commanding the search.
"Oh man, would you look at all the newbies were stuck with?" Raif said.
I nodded, outside of the rest who just listened. "Yeah, but the real question is who this new CO is going to be. I know it can't be Lagato because he retired just three months back. And yet ironically, I haven't attended any of the military meetings I've been invited to since Lagato's retirement. You wouldn't happen to know either would you Raif?" I said and asked.
He shook his head. "I've pretty much had my claws full with my mate, trying to start up a family." he replied.
I blinked and nodded. "Oh yes, I forgot about that. How's it coming so far?" I asked.
He laughed a little and blushed slightly. "Well, we've got a clutch now. Just waiting for them to hatch." he replied again.
"Ahh.." I replied and then turned my head to Enten and the others. "Oh I'm sorry, me and Raif kinda get into conversations like that. Do any of you have events that you would like to share?" I asked them.
Wolfian immediately shook his head and Ajuko just shrugged. Enten did step up to the plate though as he began to talk.
"Well, since our battle with the Verconians, Draconia has been healing very well. All of the remaining forces were desolated. But... a weird person who fled into the atmosphere who called himself Skuz --" he said before I spit up the ale I was drinking from my canteen.
"D-D-Did you say SKUZ!" I shouted in disbelief, attracting the attention of the other newbies nearby.
Enten blinked and nodded. "Y-yes, why?" he asked.
"....." I remained silent for a few minutes before talking. "Skuz... was the most evil person I've ever met. He was the one who enslaved the Skrizian race and trained them for his army... But what you've said has to be impossible... I killed Skuz with my own two hands and sacrificed my own life to do it... Which made my Adrenalin X injection necessary to revive me. But... if what you've said is true... the whole galaxy, no the whole cosmos could be in grave danger..." I said, raising my head above Ajuko to check on the newbies behind him before lower it back in and motioning for everyone to bring the heads closer. "Listen, what Enten and I just talked about... Don't mention it to a single soul or you could cause mass panic... Lets just search for Tiff okay, and when this is done, I'll leave and search for Skuz myself. I've been the only one known to stand up to him and actually survive to tell the tale." I replied to them.
Raif was the first to nod before he slapped Enten on the head which made him nod as well. Seeing this, Ajuko and Wolfian nodded as well.
"Good..." I replied.
It was just shortly after our silence agreement that a speeder bike, much like my own but of a different model, pulled up beside mine. The obviously feminine Skrizian pulled her helmet off and held it underneath her arm as she walked into the middle of our circle. She looked around and then walked away and into the newbie circle as she looked at the others there too. Upon surveying everyone, she then walked back into ours, looking at me.
"Hmm... your "the" Skie Strife right? Its an honor to meet you. I am Shektra, Skriziana's newest military commanding officer." she said, bowing slowly.
I let out a low gruff of a laugh and shrugged. "Forgive me if I do not sound too pleased. I was hoping to have someone with a little bit more of experience for my CO." I replied.
She laughed in her own way and grabbed her staff, whipping it to my face where the edge was just barely inches away from my face.
"I was warned of your stubbornness Mr. Strife, but I assure you that I have more experience on the battle field than Lagato himself. Now, I'll forgive your little attitude for now, but do not show it to me again. Is that clear Mr. Strife?" she replied to me.
I growled slightly and then nodded, mainly because I did not want her to stop our search before it had even begun.
She grinned and withdrew her staff from my face, saying "Good Boy" as she then proceeded to walk off to the troop of newbies nearby. That's when I heard Raif began to chuckle, followed by his bursting laughter as Ajuko and Enten joined him.
"Boy Skie, she sure showed you!" Raif chuckled towards me.
I laughed sarcastically and walked up to him, putting my now extended index claw up to the tip of his snout.
"Watch what you laugh at Raif, or do I need to take my anger out on you?" I replied to him with a sadistic smirk.
He blinked and shook his head quickly.
"No no! I'm sorry Skie, it shall not happen again!" he said with a slight whimper.
I laughed and pulled my claw away from him, bringing it back into my hand as it resumed its normal size.
"Good" I replied to him.
He rubbed his snout and sighed. "Boy Skie, you've changed... What's happened to you?" he asked me.
I laughed again and brought my head down. "I guess the Adrenalin X and the absence of Tiff have transformed me more than I thought they have..." I replied, sitting back down as I put a Tenken Cigarette in my mouth and lit it.
The others watched before Raif spoke out to me again.
"Skie... those aren't good for your health." he said, making a bold move as he pulled it out of my mouth.
I blinked and laughed. "Yeah, your right, but I took it up in some of the latter days of my depression. And you know how I get when I'm depressed, so it started to calm me down... It worked for a while, at least until I started craving more. All well, maybe some day I will stop, but I'll do it when I'm good and ready..."
He sighed and shook his head. "Its your call Skie..." he replied.
I was just about to shout a smart remark at him before Shektra walked back to us and motioned for us to rise.
"Alright, enough fooling around boys, its time to start the search. We've managed to lock onto her current position using her internal beacon systems. If we leave A.S.A.P. we should be able to find her. Now, there's no time for horsing around, lets load up and move out!" she said, pushing a button as a few dozen of speeder bikes rose from the ground.
Just as I was about to say something, she walked past me and jumped onto her bike, placing her helmet over her head.
"C'mon, lets not waste anymore time. Each bike has been specially made for each of you, so you should find no problem in driving these. In the display above the speedometer, you should find a radar system in which there is a red dot. Follow towards that to find our new rendezvous point. Upon arriving, park your bike's in the ship's hangar and meet upstairs in the command deck for more instructions." she said, revving her bike up as she sped off.
I looked at the others and laughed, walking towards my bike as I revved it up as well. "Don't take to long now guy's, its not hard to drive these things once you get the hang of it." I finished up, turning around as I sped after Shektra.
After driving for nearly five minutes, I began to see Shektra in my sights, pulling up next to her as I waved and then sped past her, signaling a challenge to a race. I saw her look up and shake her head, speeding up as she sped up quickly, passing me as well before I pulled the rev throttle down as far as it would go, wheelie-ing as I sped up and passed her in return. Somehow, though, she managed to speed up and close the gap between us, staying up with me as we weaved through the streets, buildings, and traffic.
We were only about ¾ of the way to the ship before she caught my attention with a wave. The, without any warning, she raised up and kicked me, planting her foot on my chest as she nearly threw me off my bike, only managing to hang on by my handle bars. As I gasped and tried to regain my composure, she took up the opportunity and left me in the dust as she used her overdrive mixture. Shortly after though, I managed to get seated back in my bike as I looked hastily at my overdrive mixture, thinking back to what happened the last time I used it, which landed me a two month stay in the health barracks. I shook my head and returned to reality, deciding to use it as the bike ignited and picked up speed faster than I could compensate before, only managing to hang on to the handle bars as my body flailed helplessly in the intense wind. Its only mere seconds before I blew past Shektra and was closing in on the target destination. Luckily, my mixture slowly became dormant as I slowed down, managing to get seated again as I noticed I was close to the ship, nailing the airbrakes harder than I ever had, bracing myself as I decelerated quickly, pulling into the hangar as I slowed to a stop.
I turned the bike off and panted, not noticing as I slowly fell over off the bike.
"Damn... that's the last time I EVER use the overdrive mixture..." I said, regaining my strength as I stood up again.
I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder as I turned around to see Shektra. She was looking to the left at my speeder bike with her ears flattened down, slowly pressing her two index claws together.
"I'm... sorry about the way I acted back there... I just get caught up when someone challenges me you know. And I'm also sorry about being cruel to you when we first met." she replied to me.
I gently felt the footprint size bruise on my chest and smiled, using the Adrenalin X to heal it away.
"Ah don't worry about it, I tend to get that way too. And I'm sorry too for acting sarcastic." I replied to her.
She smiled warmly and hugged me, as if she had known me for years.
"Good, I'm thankful. But you wouldn't mind me if I asked you about what kind of overdrive mixture you use?" she replied to me.
I blinked and then scratched behind my head with an innocent smile.
"Kinda my own special mixture." I replied.
Her head tilted as she slowly nodded. "I see..." she said.
It was a few minutes afterwards that we were soon talking and sharing things with each other of our past lives, talking for nearly an hour before the others arrived, feeling the curious eyes of the others upon us.
She slowly got up and smiled at me. "It was fun getting to know you Skie. Perhaps our friendship will grow, but I must go and prepare the ship. I'll await you in the command deck." she said, walking off to go where she needed too.

"Well... today certainly has been an interesting one. I finally get out of the house, see my friends, meet my new CO, get kicked in the chest, and nearly kill myself using the bike's overdrive mixture. Yep this one will certainly be one to remember." I said, taking in another breath.
As I finished up my cigarette, I couldn't help but notice the others who were still staring at me, probably wanting some form of signature but too afraid to ask. The whole thing just started to get on my nerves after a while so I just stood up and walked off, heading to the command deck twenty minutes earlier than I was supposed to. Stupidly, I opened the main hatch without knocking, walking in as I looked around, not seeing Shektra anywhere.
"Hello?" I said aloud, hearing no reply in return. My curiosity got the best of me as I started to explore around, coming across two different rooms before I heard another hatch opening. With my military instincts, I dove behind a control panel and shielded myself from sight, slowly ducking my head out the corner as I looked at the person who just entered. My eyes burst wide open, taking in the sight of Shektra's nude body. That's when she saw me...
"EEK! SKIE!" she said, covering herself quickly with her wings as she ran into cover, away from me.

The new suspicious recruit Wolfian has also been assigned to your pack and I want you to keep an eye on him. Freelancer's like him are always suspicious so don't let him out of your sight." she said.
I looked down at the paper and then back up to her, listening to the rest of her speech before nodding.
"Alright. But what will be using for communications? My suit modifications, that I've done myself, does not require a helmet so a helmet mounted radio will not work." I said to her.
She thought for a minute and then gripped my wrist, pushing a few buttons on my arm console. It bleeped a few times and then displayed "Radio Transceiver" in the upper right hand corner.
"It's a good thing that you did not tweak your arm console very much, or I couldn't have been able to do that. But now your arm console will serve as a dual purpose device, providing you with radio communications with us. And do not worry, I've also preset the radio frequency. Now leave and read up before we land and your confused." she finished up, pushing me out the door before I could react.
I sighed and then looked at the paper, walking down the stairs as I was soon down in the main deck. I heard a sound of something crashing as I looked up and saw Wolfian fighting one of the lower level beginners. I growled and folded the paper, putting it in my pocket as I navigated my way through the first ring of observers, pushing to the main fight as I pushed both of them away, taking a punch from Wolfian in the process. I wasn't hurt, but the red mark now on my face showed that it was a strong punch. I just sighed and put both of them in a headlock.
"Now, why are you two fighting?" I asked with a bit of a rough tone.
"That freak over there said that my wife wasn't even worthy of the Verconians!" he shouted.
Wolfian growled and shouted a reply. "I stated that because he stole my weapon's catalyst crystal!" he said, trying to squirm free of my grip.
I shook my head and released them.
"And just how am I supposed to believe either of your claims?" I asked.
Two Skrizians stepped in and said to have witnessed the threat Wolfian made to the beginner. Wolfian growled even louder and faced me, pointing to the one he was fighting.
"Just check his pocket, he has it on him I swear." he said, walking off to sit on a bench.
I looked to the trio of newbies and grabbed the one Wolfian said to inspect.
"HEY! What the fuck are you doing! Let me go!" he said, trying to squirm free as his friends grabbed my shoulders and tried to pull me off.
I growled in defense and turned to the two, watching there eyes get big as they let me go and stepped away. That's when I turned back to the one in my grip and check his pocket. Sure enough, in the front right one, was the catalyst crystal Wolfian mentioned. I held it in my hand and released him, kicking him in the legs as he fell to the ground.
"Don't you even think of stealing again. I swear, that the next time I hear that you've stolen something, I will personally rip out your spine and send you home in a body bag! UNDERSTOOD?!" I shouted to him.
He gulped and nodded, scampering away as I tried to kick him on the ground. I then turned and walked back to Wolfian, pulling out his hand as I dropped the crystal into it.
"I believe this belongs to you." I told him.
He nodded. "Thanks Skie..." he replied.
I nodded in return and dropped a device into his hand as well.
"This is a direct link to me. If your in another problem like this, or if its even worse, contact me and I'll help. After all, it takes more than just one person to keep these new ones in line." I said, smiling a bit as I walked off and sat down in another vacant bench. I barely had time to get out the plans again before Ajuko and Enten sat next to me.
"What's up Skie?" I heard Ajuko ask.
I blinked and looked at them for a minute.
"Ah nothing, just reading the damn plans that I missed." I replied to them.
The both looked at each other and then asked another question.
"Both of us have been wondering, how come you did miss the meeting?" Enten asked me this time.
I blinked and thought in my mind to make up and excuse. I know they wouldn't take the "busy" excuse and saying sleeping with Shektra would just make matters worse. That's when it hit me, a good excuse. And without missing a beat, I delivered to make it sound true.
"I was asleep." I replied to them, hoping they would buy it.
They blinked at each other and shrugged.
"Well, Raif needs to talk to you before we land. Enten here just followed me. So catch Raif alright?" Ajuko said, getting up as he walked off, Enten following him.
I sighed and finished up reading, getting up as I proceeded to walk to Raif's room.
As I approached, I heard the hatch spin open, but it didn't open completely. Being as the curious person I was, I grabbed it and opened it up, seeing Raif right in front of my face as we nearly ran into each other.
"Oh Skie! There you are. I was just about to come looking for you." he said.
I blinked and laughed. "Yeah, had to read up on something. Anyways, you wanted to see me?" I replied to him.
He nodded and held up a cannon that didn't have a trigger. I blinked at it and shrugged.
"What about it?" I asked him.
He chuckled. "Its a shoulder mounted versatile cannon. It will be the only weapon you'll ever need again. Both Enten and I developed this for you when we would see you return to the open. And sure enough, you have, and in which I must give this to you." he said, putting it in my arms.
I looked at it and then back to him. "What's wrong with my plasma rifle?" I asked him.
He let out a laugh and smiled. "This far surpasses the plasma rifle my friend. I combined my knowledge of infinite ammunition with his knowledge of human weaponry to come out with this invincible gun. The best part about it is that it is expandable, meaning that you can add more onto it. That is due to the fact that the gun morphs to its host's wants. Now sure there may just be a plasma rifle in it, but you can find expansions for this such as a chain gun, a laser, a mini-nuke, etc. Another fun fact is that it will ping when its found a suitable thing to expand upon. The only problem is that it could be underground quite a ways. But I'm sure you'll find a way to get to it." he said, watching as I strapped it on and put the targeting recticle next to my eye.
"Well, it fits... but just how do i operate th--" I started to say before the gun fired a blast at the ceiling.
Both of us blinked as parts of it fell down. "Umm be careful about this. It will fire when you want it too. A simple thought is all that it takes, along with a viable point of lock-on. Just don't shoot me next okay?" he said.
I nodded and smiled innocently. "Alright, I thank both you and Enten. Oh yeah, and sorry about the roof." I said walking out.
I could hear Raif's chuckles slowly fade away as I made my way through the corridor, hearing an alarm and an announcement shortly after I had made my way to the main room. Apparently, we were beginning to enter Draconia's atmosphere, the ship rocking furiously as everyone scrambled to grab onto something. I was one of the less fortunate though, falling to my legs as I rolled across the floor and up against a wall. The hit alone didn't phase me, it was just the other five Skrizians that pilled up next to me that nearly knocked me out. As the ship finally landed, I began to groan as I gasped for air, pushing the Skrizian's whom had piled atop of me away. I was among one of the first to stand again, hearing Shektra's gentle claws tatter against the metal flooring as she walked down the stairs and into plain view.
"Alright people. We are going to execute Operation: Search & Recover. Everyone line up to be paired off in groups with the elites." she said, asserting herself clearly.
Within seconds, everyone was lined up perfectly, awaiting their orders. Wolfian was in front, and just as Shektra exclaimed earlier, he was grouped with me. A few mere minutes afterwards and everyone was where they were supposed to be. Since I was the first group, I was the one to lead into the hangar first. We all powered up our speeder bikes and sped off into the distance, I being sure to go slow enough to where the others could keep up.
As we drew closer towards the beacon of Tiff's vital readings, Shektra radioed in.
"Skie, Tiff should be around in the general area. We are all going to search different parts of the location, you have the north end. The rest of us will cover the middle and other three directions. If you see Tiff, or if you encounter enemies and need backup -which is unlikely-, then radio in. Understood?" she spook.
"Clear as crystal." I replied.
It wasn't long before we had reached the north end though, slowing down dramatically as we pulled close to a forested area. It was unusual, as 48% of Draconia was often desert wasteland, but a hunch in my heart told me to push forward and enter into the forest. In response, I got off my speeder bike and motioned for the rest of the crew to do it too, extending my claws as I prepared to slice through the heavy foliage. Right before I began my first slash, a sick sense overcame me, as if I was being watched. I immediately looked up and around but saw nothing, looking down at myself as I knew something was wrong but I couldn't interpret it. I just sighed and slashed in. I knew Tiff was here, but I still felt the greater evil's presence nearby in the same forest...
