Rose had just saw Ivan transcend onto the next world. She could not believe it; she did not want to believe it. She unlatched his leg and bit him. That normally would wake him up. It did not work. Rose yelled at him, "Ivan come back to me, I need you! Stay with me! Rose had the other attention. "You cannot be dead. I want you back!" Rose was weeping and holding Ivan's leg. The human girl came in and saw Rose hiding in the corner holding the leg. She looked and saw Ivan's body motionless on the floor with his eye's open. She called her parents in and they were not as surprised as their daughter cried. "He was acting so young today, I thought he would live for another week or two!" She said. "Listen dear. It was his last day. I have seen it before, and you found him when he was mid aged. Most espeon live for ten years in a house and less in the wild. If you are lucky, twelve years' maximum." Her father said. He was also affected by Ivan's death and removed his harness. His wife called the pokémon center to cancel Ivan's checkup, "Hi is Nurse Joy around. No, well I would like to cancel our appointment of our espeon. His tag number is 772A-35-E he just passed on. Thank you for your condolences." Rose cried herself to sleep holding Ivan's leg. Angle tried to comfort her but it did not work. Rose was crying, "His eyes were open and he was scared. I want Ivan back!" before she fell asleep in the corner. The next day a neighbor made a grave marker out of rebar. Rose held his leg and Lue, Yapper; Victor had not come to terms with Ivan's death. Lue and Yapper were taught how to fight by Ivan and wanted him to see their first battle. Rebecca was in a tree when she asked Rose where Ivan was and Rose cried again. Rebecca realized something was wrong and asked Victor, "Where is Ivan, I wanted to show him something?" He said, "He is here and not around anymore." She looked around and saw his grave, "I was going to show him his grandson but it is too late? Dad is dead?" Rebecca stayed for the funeral. "Victor why is Angle not as sad as the rest of you?"She asked. "Ivan killed her love "Eye Patch" and she has not forgiven him yet. You know what happened" He replied. Rose recalled the incident and stopped crying. "Rebecca he fought that fight for my honor where did he go?" She asked Rebecca replied, "I met a jolteon once who nearly died and he said, " If it is for honor, protection, food, or love you go up. Revenge, fun, hatred you go down." Eye Patch was after revenge and went down. I think Ivan went up." After the funeral Rebecca went around telling the news. Ivan was respected in the neighborhood. He was strong and did not hurt anyone who did not deserve it. One week later it was a full moon. There was a domestic battle in the park with a moment of silence. Yapper and Lue were their to compete. Victor came to watch. Angle stayed home, after Eye Patch was killed she lost interest. Rose went to the woods for a Wild Battles. She was depressed and came there. Ivan loved these battles and Rose learned to like them. They were exciting the contestant might live or die if the winner decides to spare or end their lives. A unbreon saw she was sad and he asked, "Why are you so sad? Did your child die?"

"No, Ivan died last week!" She cried out. The audience was silent and the battle paused. It was quiet until the contestants fought again. "Then, why are you not mourning if you are so sad?" He asked.

"Ivan loved these battles and thought the domestic ones were funny. I wanted to remember a fun time with him." Rose told him. She watch the battles and it made her feel better. No one mention anything about Ivan. They knew he was legendary for strength and ability to fight. Some pokémon learned how to fight from him. A white eyed ninetales came to Rose, "Can you show me where he is buried, I want to say my goodbys.' Rose replied, "Sure after this is over. When the battles were over rose guided he and a poochyena to his grave. The ninetales put a rock on his grave. Rose asked why and her name. "Sticks are for mates and children, rocks are for anyone else their lives touched. It is a way to remember the great ones after they are gone. My name is Clara what was Ivan like living in a house Rose? No one knew he lived here." Rose cried and said, "I know he is dead but I want him back!" She was crying in Clara's fur. Clara said, "Listen death comes for us all. Ivan gave me the courage to leave my pack and move on. My mates had died years ago and I still stayed. I missed them. Time heals all wound, but never completely when it is your heart. I lost my first child and I want him back, but I cannot go to him right now. I met Ivan and we would talk in his own way once a month. He made me feel normal and understood me better than my friends ever did." Clara stayed to listen to Rose until day break. In the afternoon Rebecca brought the umbreon over. He place a rock and she placed a stick. They sat there saying their goodbys. Over the next week his grave was covered in rocks and bones. Rose asked Rebecca, "Why bones?" Rebecca replied, "They are to feed his soul for one month and then, he is free on the other side. That is what we believe in the wild. It was summer and wild battles were more often entertainment that combatants held back on killing. That was for the winter and early spring over mating rights. Yapper and Lue evolved and the domestics were not exciting to them anymore. There were some new neighbors in the area with an absol and floatzel. Yapper asked the absol out to watch the wild matches with him. She refused unless the floatzel was invited. Yapper convinced Rose to join in a double date. The absol was named Jenny and the floatzel was called Walter. He was funny and very relaxed. Walter looked at Rose trying to find out her past mate that the other spoke of. Jenny loved watching Yapper battle and she loved the fights. Unlike domestic battles flexibility and improvisation was more important than level or strength. When they reached Rose and Yapper's house Walter saw the pile of rocks and bones above a grave. He asked Angle who it was. "That is Ivan, Rose previous mate. He passed in the winter. (Her voice changed.) He killed my lover in a duel over Rose's honor. I have not forgave how he killed him. He was call Jackal but everybody called him Eye Patch. His back was broke and his kidneys and liver were pulled out when he was still alive." Angle told him. Walter said, "That sound gruesome and romantic at the same time. With that much stones on one grave he must have been respected a lot." Rose was talking to Ivan when Walter told her, "They must have respected Ivan a lot for a pile that big. Why was there a leg in the hall of your house?" Rose chocked up and told him, "I was Ivan's replacement leg after he lost it to Eye Patch. Ivan this is Walter, I miss you every day." Walter thought she was strange but, it was temporary. He noticed she looked like someone came from the dead when skarmory walked by. When it was winter she mated with him and she got pregnant and never showed who the father was. The humans assumed it was a wild pokémon but they now knew when she was in season. Next year she would be locked up. Her pregnancy was normal until late term. She was having problems giving birth. Angle was with her at the pokémon center when Rose spoke, "Ivan is that you? I'm Not ready yet. I want to be with you please let me see you?" She was delusional or that was what Angle thought. In truth Ivan was there waiting for Rose. After giving birth she told Angle what happened. Angle did not believe her. Rose had a daughter that year. Her daughter started her journey with the human girl. Over many years Rose and Walter were deeply in love. She still talked to Ivan once in a while and held his leg when the day he passed came up. She would never forget him. Rebecca kept his grave as clean as she could with Rose to help. Rose would talk to Clara and remember the good times with Ivan. Then, they would talk about their current mates. Clara had multiple mate Rose had one. They swapped sex stories with Angle and Rebecca every fall. Rebecca and Clara soon left the area and Ivan's grave was in disrepair one winter night. Rose walked outside seeing Yapper and Jenny who were mates setting on the back porch. Rose hated the cold she was from the desert not the north. She cleaned you Ivan's grave as best she could when it got dark and cold. She slept by his grave and was shivering. Yapper tried to get her up but she was dying of hypothermia. She was in a warm hall covered in a bright light. Ivan came behind her. She saw his stub and knew who it was. She asked, "It is my time?" He nodded, " yes." A bright light surrounded her and she left the living.

The next day she was buried next to Ivan until neither grave remained.
