Option B go and check on Dillon the human soldier.

Zack couldn’t help but feel responsible for Dillon. The human had shown him kindness and… more. As a result the rabbit had gotten free and so many of the human’s shipmates had died. The least he owed the human was to make sure he wasn’t alone when he woke up. He sent a quick message to Qerry with the room number and gave Kelo and Reese a quick goodbye.

He grabbed a gun as he left, the other pirates had spent hours combing the ship and they believed all remaining crew had been removed. However, there was no reason to not be careful. The reports had come in, Qerry had hacked the comms the ship had received. Over thirty pirate ships had been taken in less than five days. The rest were in port at the time and most were running scared.

Deju had sent out a call to a few friends, hoping to get a few more crewmembers. There was an arranged rendezvous in a few days. Assuming anybody actually showed up the crew would then head out. There was no time to wait, with the pirate fleet down it was only a matter of weeks before the colonies would face a choice, starve or submit. Hearing that made Zack realise that they were the only hope left and nobody knew. His mind went to his family, his parents. They had struggled so hard to create a life, a business and to live free.

The deaths on the crew weighed on his conscience, yet he knew that if Deju hadn’t taken the ship, or if they had lost too many people, the colonies would be lost. They would have had no choice but to run into hiding and hope that someday the elitists could be forced out of government.

The rabbit reached Dillon’s quarters and entered. The human was still on his bed sleeping, the stun blast should have worn off, but it wasn’t unusual for victims to continue sleeping for hours afterwards unless woken. He smiled at the snoring human and felt a tad guilty for what he had to do next. Wake him and put him off the ship. He had asked the crew to leave it to him, they had left the slumbering human undisturbed, though they had locked his door from the bridge.

Just as he reached out for the human the door opened and in walked Qerry. The red panda smiled at him though the rabbit could see the exhaustion in his eyes. The human forgotten for the moment Zack got to his feet and rushed over to hug his love. “I missed you.” The rabbit mumbled into the red fur on the panda’s neck as he squeezed tightly.

Qerry hugged back tightly kissing the rabbit’s forehead and smiling. “Long day huh?”

“Crazy day more like, I need some sleep and soon,” mumbled the rabbit.

“Yeah me too, I think we have been up almost twenty four hours straight,” the panda replied kissing his cheek.

“I on the other hand need no sleep, but a few explanations would be appreciated,” the voice came from behind them, Dillon was just getting to his feet the human was still naked and weaponless.

“I… there’s something I have to tell you,” Zack replied pulling away from the hug of the panda.

It wasn’t an easy conversation to have, Dillon was shocked to hear what happened to most of the crew of his ship. The human ended up sitting on the bed, still naked between the two pirates. “So what do I do now, are you guys going to shove me in an escape pod or what?”

Zack glanced at Qerry, who shrugged, “well I guess, I mean, what do you want to do?”

“No idea really, I… never really fit in with the military, I don’t agree with what’s happened to the colonies over the years.” The human mumbled and glanced at the furs on either side. “I mean the romantic in me kinda loves the idea of joining up with you guys and just seeing if I could make a difference.” The human blushed deeply as he reached his hands out, placing one on the thigh of both Zack and Qerry. “Or seeing what I have been missing out on living in the core.”
