Of Men and Animals
A prologue for a story that's been on my mind for months. Expect several chapters of varying length, intensity, sexuality, and violence.
This is a prologue for a sotry I've been wanting to write. Its exceedingly short. Chapter one should be up some time next week, hopefuly. Expect something dark, but not too much (no one dies yet, that is all I will say)
When the world ended, it wasn't with a bang. There were no bombs, no great fire or flood. Buildings were left intact, homes and infrastructure left untouched. All of humanity though was thrown to the proverbial winds. What man knew about physics, biology, evolution, chemistry: it all ceased to have meaning during the Shift.
It started small. Scientists began noticing radical changes in what they knew about life at the molecular level. Atoms began shifting, rearranging themselves seemingly at random. It gradually grew larger. DNA structures began to change: human, animal, and vegetable. Over time it became so drastic that the public, once in the dark, could no longer be kept ignorant. When the Shift finally happened, it was massive.
Families woke up in the morning to find the dog raiding the refrigerator, standing on two human like legs, grasping the milk with a human like hand...and having the discourtesy to drink right from the jug. Farmers found their livestock literally just walking away in protest. Florists and hobby gardeners would find their own plants judging them. The turmoil and upheaval was massive.
It has been well over fifty years since the world as we knew it came to an end, since man ceased being at the top of the chain of both food and intelligence. Things will only get worse before they get better
