#14 of The Silver Dragon

Hey! So here is the next chapter and I hope you people i.e readers enjoy it! It would have been up earler today but there was an incident with a spider the SIZE OF MY HAND that pervented me from going in my room all day :/ still parionoid... Anyway sorry about that and credit to artist. please point out any mistakes in comments! Also if you could please comment about how I can improve! It would mean a lot! :3 Thank you!

They both just stared at the drunken mess lying on the bathroom floor. After a few minutes they decided that he wasn't going to regain consciousness soon. So Silver carefully picked up his sick friend and, ignoring his complaints, proceeded to Sky's bedroom.

Once he reached the room he carefully placed the boy onto the bed and sat on the corner. They both remained silent for a while, each wrapped in their own thoughts. What were they going to do? It was Silver that eventually broke the silence,

"So any ideas? We can't just ignore it you know."

"Yeah I know but what can we do?" Sky replied weakly, he still didn't feel very well and this wasn't exactly helping.

He was right though. They didn't exactly have a huge amount of options.

"Not to make this any worse than it already is, but..."

"But what?" Sky asked.

"Well... you know when I went out looking for you? Well... someone kinda saw me and took a photo, so they news people have offered a reward for anyone that catches me."

Sky's face darkened at the revelation.

"Oh great! Not only does my uncle know about you, now the entire county is hunting you! And I'm pretty sure my uncle would rat us out to the news with no second thoughts!"He was angry now, why was all this happening!?

He could feel the tears rising and could do nothing to stop it. Soon they were freely streaming down his face and he wanted to do nothing more that bury his face in a pillow and forget this entire mess.

"Sky... Please don't cry. Everything will work out." Silver assured, but it didn't seem to work.

"How...how do you know it will work out? The boy whimpered, tears still steadily streaming down his cheeks and onto the bed.

"Because I-I..... I just know it'll all be fine." Silver stated, putting on a fake smile. He couldn't even convince himself that was true, so how would he convince his friend?

"No it won't!" Sky replied angrily. "I-I just don't want them to take you away from me.... You're my only friend Silver..."

Tears started to form as he heard this; he didn't want to leave his friend either!

"S-Sky I p-promise t-that I'll never l-leave." He whimpered as the tears were now freely falling from his eyes. He hugged his crying friend, trying to cheer him up. He heard a whisper.

"T-thank you..." And felt him weakly hug back. He separated from the embrace and looked at his frail friend. He smiled and rubbed his eyes,

"No more crying, ok?" He said and put on a big, stupid grin. The boy couldn't help but smile and replied,

"Ok." And rubbed the tears out of his eyes.

They were both too busy grinning and looking at each other to notice the movement coming from nearby. The source was Sky's drunken uncle regaining consciousness.

He got up and rubbed his head, it was pounding. Why was he in the bathroom? And why was he unconscious on the floor? Suddenly the memories poured into his mind and he remembered what had transpired. He was attacked by a dragon!

"That lousy dragon... I'll teach him a lesson." He grumbled as he remembered a news report on the television. He put the pieces together and a plan had formed in his mind. An evil smirk stretched across his face as he pulled out his phone. He dialled 999 and pushed the call button.

"This'll show that stupid cun- hello! I'd like to report that I have located the creature from the news and request the help of the police to help capture it...."

Silver felt a shiver go down his spine. Something was wrong. He could see from his friend's expression that he could feel it too. Then horror struck there faces as the door slowly opened and revealed the horribly man holding a phone.

"Shit." Silver cursed.

"Hello boy!" His uncle said smugly. He then pointed at the dragon.

"As for you vile creature, the police are on their way here right now to retrieve you." He then let out a triumphant laugh similar of that to a villain off a video game.

Silver saw the mixture of horror and sadness in his friends face and it made him furious. Why did bad things always happen to them!?

He leapt up from the bed and before the man could react, he unleashed a full power punch straight into his jaw. It impacted with a loud crunch and the man fell to the floor, knocked out again and by the looks of it, he had broken the man's jaw.

Silver tried his best to calm himself down and prevented himself from hurting the monstrous man again. Sky wouldn't forgive him if he hurt the man any more, and he wouldn't be able to live with himself either; even if he didn't deserve mercy.

Once he was calmed down he looked over at the boy and saw his frightened face. He didn't know what they were going to do. The human fidgeted and slowly made his way off the bed. He was wobbling but managed to stay upright.

"W-what are we going to do!? Silver!?" He panicked.

"I-I'm not sure... but I think we'll have to leave." He replied. What else could they do? The police were on their way here and Sky was bound to get in trouble for harbouring him. It was their only option.

"Well.... I-I guess we'll have to. As long as I'm with you Silver, I'll be fine." The boy said bravely, he tried to walk forward but stumbled over; luckily he was caught by the dragon.

"You're in no condition to travel though.... I'll have to carry you." Silver said while helping his friend back onto his feet.

"But I'm fine! Really I'll be fine to walk...I just tripped!" Sky lied. He was weak and barely had the energy to stand. He didn't want to be a burden.

Silver was angry by this blatant lie. "Don't lie! You always make out your fine, look at you! You're struggling to stand! Please.... just let me carry you, I don't want to cause you any more pain."

Sky was touched by his friend's kindness and compassion for his wellbeing. "Okay.... just don't push yourself, k?

Silver nodded and then proceeded to carefully lift his friend up. Sky hesitated,

"Wait... I need to get some stuff first." He said weakly. He could barely move though and they needed to go quick. Silver knew the urgency of their situation so he offered to get the stuff for his friend.

"Ok..." Sky said. "Can you get that bag there?" He pointed to the opposite side of the room were a drawstring bad was sitting in the corner. "Then fill it with the first aid kit.... some food; probably canned is best..... A can opener.... umm some bottles of water.... a sleeping bag... and a box of matches. Also...."

"Also what?" Silver queried, they didn't have much time!

"Umm... never mind?" Sky quickly replied.

"Ok... I'll get all the stuff you said. I'll be right back ok?" He shouted as he ran out of the room with the bag.

Sky then sighed and slowly made is way over to his desk; we quietly opened it and took a blue folder out. It contained all his drawings, his notebook and some other stuff. It was important to him but was very personal. He hugged it tightly and closed the drawer.

Then he looked over to where his uncle was laying and stared at him for a while. That was the man that tormented him for most of his life, and he was reduced to this. Most people would be happy and say he deserved it... but still he felt bad for him.

He had to do something, that he wouldn't be proud of... but he needed it to keep his friend safe.

He wearily made his way over to his uncle and sat beside him. He was so tired but now wasn't the time to rest. He used the last of his strength to roll his uncle over onto his side and took out his wallet. He took the money and debit card that was inside and put them into his own wallet. He knew the pin and he might need it if they run out of food.

He still felt bad... and a bit like a petty thief, but if it meant that it would help them then he had to do it.

He soon heard the dragon bounding back up the stairs and he burst in the room holding a slightly overfull bag.

"I got it all... but it barely fit in." He said between breaths. Once he had caught his breath he passed the bag to the boy and scooped him up. A big grin went across his face as he did so.

"Why are you smiling?" Sky asked curiously.

"Dunno... just this is like an adventure. We'll go travelling together and see knew places. It sounds like a lot of fun to me!" He replied and continued smiling. Sky couldn't help but laugh.

"When you put it like that... it does sound fun!" Then he put on a big smile of his own.

"Glad you see it from my point of view! But we better be off now." Silver said and headed toward the window.

"Wait..." Sky quickly said. "We're going out the window?"

"Don't worry!" Silver relied optimistically. "It's night time so no one will see us! Plus I'm sure you'll enjoy it!"

Sky nodded nervously and accepted the decision to fly. It would be weird though... he hadn't exactly ever flown though the sky with a dragon before.

A sudden loud sound down stairs caught their attention and it got louder as multiple footsteps came rushing toward them. Sudden a loud voice boomed through the air.

"This is the police! Come down peacefully or else!"

"We'd better go!" Silver shouted and opened the window. He jumped up to the ledge being careful not to hurt his friend, and looked outside. Suddenly a man burst into the room and saw them.

"Found them!" He shouted. He looked very young and inexperienced. More pounding footsteps approached the room.

"Crap!" Silver exclaimed and quickly leapt out the window.

"Hey you! Come back!" Some officers shouted but he dived lower and then flew up with a sudden burst of speed.

The officers watched, with dumbstruck looks across their faces as the dragon flew off into the trees and away from home. They fired their guns but it was pointless, Silver had already flown out of their range. Sky felt exhilarated, flying was amazing! He looked at all the tree's and buildings below and was taken back by how small they looked. The wind felt amazing too!

Then he glanced back and watched as his home got further and further away. It was sad, in a way. It was where he had grown up and it held memories... even if his uncle was horrible, it still meant a lot to him.

"Goodbye..." He whispered into the rushing wind as the house was lost in the dark shroud of night...
