Chapter 3. Rildels Prophesy

I slowly woke up. I opened my eyes and looked at the roof... I quikly sprang up from the bed and looked around. I was at the old house...

'So it wasn't just a dream...' I tought and sighed.

I sat on the edge of the bed and looked at the floor. What are my parents doing now, they must be worried sick, and all my friends, everyone... It was weird, for some reason, I didn't really feel homesick at all...

I stood up and walked out of the bedroom into the kitchen after grabbing my things from the table. The kind lady from yesterday was wating for me, she had made some pancakes and was smiling to me from next to the stove. I smiled back and walked to the table.

"Good morning dear." She said and brought me some pancackes.

"Morning." I said and looked at the delicious looking pancakes, they almost made me drool. I was a bit hungry...

"Go on ahead, eat up before we go." The lady said.

I nodded and gobbled up a piece of a pancake.

"By the way, you can call me Rozaline, dear." The lady, I mean Rozaline said.

I smiled and nodded.

"Pleased to meet you Rozaline." I said and ate the last pieces of the pancakes.

I thanked her for the breakfast and stood up from the bench. I followed Rozaline to the door and outside to the village. People looked really busy working around their houses, doing all sorts of chores, like watering plants and pulling up vegetables from their gardens. It looked like a peaceful place, and maybe that's why I didn't feel homesick, I felt kind of homy...

Suddenly I remembered that I was going to meet that Rildel guy... Who was he? If he knew everything about magic, maybe he was a wizard of somesort.

"Um, excuse me, Rozalin?" I said and looked at her.

"Yes, dear?" She anwsered and turned to look at me over her shoulder.

"Who is this Rildel?" I asked and blinked.

"Oooh, Rildel is a mighty sorcerer and a he has the ability to see the future. I guess you could say he knows everything about everything..." Rozaline said.

"He might be a bit, um... Loony, but he's a nice old man." she continued and shook her head.

"I see..." I mumbled and stopped as we came to a slightly larger stone house.

There was a weird looking weather vane on the roof and for some reason the house didn't seem like the others.

"This is where I'll make my exit..." Rozaline said and backed up from the door.

"You can find Rildel there, please, go on ahead." She said and showed me the door.

"Thank you, Rozaline. You've been so kind, and a great help." I said and nodded to her.

"Not at all dear." She said back and started walking back towards her house.

I took a deep breath and grabbed the doorknob. I slowly pushed the door open and peeked inside. The whole room was full of shelves full of all sorts of trinkets and devices I had never seen before in my life! Altho there were some things that looked like perpetual motion machines, but I couldn't tell for sure.

"Come on in Michael." I heared a rough, old but perky voice from inside the room. I walked inside and looked around. I didn't see anyone so I walked on ahead.

I suddenly stopped.

"Wait a minute... How did you know my name!?" I exclaimed and looked around.

"Hehe, this old man knows more than ya think, boy." The voice said again.

"Where are you?" I asked and turned around.

"Just walk on ahead, I'm right here to the left." I heared the old man shout again. I went where the man told me to, and sure enough there he was, standing on a ladder that was against a high bookshelf.

"There you are, boy." The man said and walked to me after climbing down the ladder.

"I guess you allready know me, but my name's Rildel, nice to meet you Michael." He said and shook my hand fiercely.

"Nice to meet you too Mr. Rildel." I said and nodded.

"I was told th-"

"Yes yes, I know all about your sparkles and whirlpools." Rilder interrupted me and winked.

I blinked.

"But, how?"

Rildel laughed and escorted me to a large room with a table in the middle.

"I allready told you, boy, this old man knows much more than you think. I guess you want some anwsers?" He said and signed me to sit down on the chair next to the table.

I sat down and nodded.

"First of all... What is this place, and why did I end up here, and what's with the book?" I said and handed him the book.

Rildel looked at the book and turned the pages quikly.

"Hm... This be a very old spell book it be, boy..." He said finally.

"But it looks like some of the pages are missing..." He said and shook his head.

I rubbed the back of my neck.

"Some of them must have ripped off and drifted off to the ocean when I woke up..." I said and sighed.

"There still be many spells left here boy. Don't worry." Rildel said and smiled.

"I guess you don't know much about magic, but remember that sparkle you followed?"

I nodded.

"If the song you played with that there flute was called 'Song of the lost love' it was a spell to find you're one true love it was." Rildel said and nodded slowly.

"What? So, does that mean that my destined lover lives here?" I asked as my eyes widened.

"It certanly looks like it, it does..." Rildel said and placed the book on the table.

I quikly grabbed the book and started looking for the spell again, but I couldn't find it, it must have ripped off of he book.

I sighed.

"But what was that whirlpool?" I asked and looked at Rildel again.

"It be a portal to this world." He said and walked to the end of the room, where he pulled down a large map.

"See, the world you live in is indeed not the only one. There are many other worlds that exist beside your's. Altho I do not know why or where these portals came from, you can get to the other worlds trough them." He explained.

I shook my head and tryed to memorize everything. I took the book and searched it. There seemed to be other songs in there too.

"Are these spells too?" I asked and looked at Rildel.

He walked to me and looked at the notes while following them with his finger.

"Yes they be spells indeed." He said and nodded.

"I suggest that you should start suddying them, boy." He said and pointed at my flute.

'This is kind of exiting...' I tought and smiled while looking at my flute. I never knew that magic really did exist in this form. I could be like a wizard in those cool fantasy movies.

Rildel pattet the book and looked at me in the eyes.

"But you remember boy, these spells not be ordinary ones... It requires some true skills of a Minstrel." He said.

I blinked.

"Uh... A Minstrel?" I repeated and tilted my head.

"Yes, that's right, a Minstrel." Rildel said and started walking around the table.

"A Minstrel uses the power of music and feelings as spells. But, the effect of a spell is not allways exact, the spell is also affected by you're own feelings, and might not allways do exactly as it's supposed to... For example, if you want to grow a flower with a song, the flower doesn't grow very quikly unless you really want it to."

I rubbed my head and narrowed my eyes.

"I hope I remember all of this..." I said and sighed.

"Oh, you will, boy... You have no choise." Rildel said and shook his finger.

"Excuse me?" I said and looked at Rildel.

He chuckled and sat down opposite to me on a chair. He leaned to the table and looked at me in the eye.

"Want to hear a little seacret?" He whispered and signed me to come closer.

I leaned over the table and Rildel closed his eyes. Suddenly, his eyes sprang open and they where as white as blank paper. I got startled and flinched back on the chair.

Suddenly, Rildel started speaking:

"The one who doesn't belong will find the one who slain the brother not of own will. The two shall tie the link between races when the shackles binding love are removed and thus shall the reign of the corrupted end by the power of the races combined!"

Rildels voice echoed on the walls and the room felt like it was shaking. Some of the books were falling off of the shelves and pages were ripping off. I grabbed ahold of the book so that no more spells would fly away.

"Rildel what's wrong?!" I tryed shouting trough all the noise.

Then Rildel suddenly closed his eyes again and the wind in the room stopped. I breathed heavily as I closed in on Rildel.

"... Rildel?" I whispered.

He suddenly opened his eyes and exlaimed

"Now that's your prophesy boy! Don't tell it to anyone else! NOT EVEN ME!" I got startled again and stumbled backwards.

"O- Ok." I said and nodded slightly.

Rildel chukled his "old man laugh" and looked at me.

"I bet your's was really special.. right?" He said

"You see. I don't know the prophesies I make, unless I make them for my self." He continued and shook his finger again.

I looked at my Flute and then at the book.

'This is all getting pretty freaky pretty fast... "The one who doesn't belong" must be me, but who is this "the one who slain the brother not of own will..."' I tought and then looked at Rildel.

"So... What should I do now...?" I asked and stood up.

Rildel slapped his hands together and smiled.

"You're going to stay here as my apprentice. I'm going to teach you how to use that book! And then, you will find your path and follow your destiny." He said and danced around the room. I looked at the old man who was bouncing around the room and a small smile came on my face. This should be intresting.

Chapter 4. My Hero

For the next couple of weeks I lived with Rildel in his house while training as his apprentice. He tought me many things about magic and the book. He taught me how to make the spells active with my flute and I even learned a couple of songs by heart, so I don't allways need the book. And of course, some spells needed sigils, so Rildel tought me how to draw them too. I even got new great looking clothes that Rildel said Minstrels usually wore.

They were most defineatly the most exiting two weeks I had ever experienced. I mean, you could never do stuff like this in my world. Maybe it wes because of that that I wasn't too homesick. But still... Something was indeed bothering me. The first spell I ever cast... The love spell. Was my one true love really here, in this world? Or did I just do the spell wrong or something?

Rildel noticed that I was bothered by something when we were eating dinner at the table.

"... Is it the prophesy or the spell you're wondering about, boy...?" He asked calmly.

I poked my soup with the spoon and nodded slightly.

"I think it's kinda both." I said.

Rildel smiled.

"You ought not worry about that yet boy. The time will come, you'll see." He said and stood up from the bench.

"I mean, I have just seen a fraction of this new world I'm at. And.. And I'd really want to see more." I said and Rildel stopped.

"Is that so?" He said and turned around slowly.

I nodded.

"And, maybe... Maybe I want to find something..."

Rildel grinned.

"Aah, so it's the love you're looking for."

I blushed like a tomato and pouted.

"Well not ONLY that!" I said and looked at the wall.

Rildel laughed.

"I understand, boy. And like I said. One day you shall find your path..." He said and placed his bowl in a wooden platter full of water.

I looked out of the window and sighed. The seashore, little forest and this city were about the only things I had seen here...

'There must be some amazing things out there...' I tought as I daydreamed of the kind of fantasy lands you see in RPG games or movies.

"Stop daydreaming boy and start packing your things." Rildel said and chuckled.

I woke up from my daydreams and sprang up.

"So, I can go?" I said tryed hard not to smile too much. I was leaving afterall. Rildel nodded and smiled. I ran to him and almost jumped to hug him. I was so happy. I got to go adventuring in a new world! See amazing things! And, just maybe...

I ran to the room Rildel had given me and quikly started gathering all the things I might need. Of course the things included the book and my flute. I was running back to the foyer but then suddenly stopped.

Rildel was standing near the door and he was talking to two soldiers dressed in dark armour. They had red shileds with a picture of a black dragon on them. Something told me they weren't ones to mess with... I walked to Rildel and the soldiers suddenly stopped talking to him.

"Who's he?" The other one on the right asked and pointed at me.

Rildel turned to look at me.

"Who he? He's just my nephew, from the naigbour town." He said.

'What the heck...?' I was thinking, but a little voice inside my head told me to keep my mouth shut.

I nodded slightly and smiled to the soldier. The soldiers looked at eachother and the other started walking towards the next house.

"Well. If you see anyone strange, contact the legion immediately, got it?" The one who still stood at the door said.

Rildel nodded and slowly closed the door.

"Who were they?" I asked and lifted my carried bag on my shoulder.

"They're soldiers from the Legion of the Black Dragon." Rildel said and started walking around the room while shaking his head.

"A Legion of soldiers? Working for who?" I asked and blinked.

Rildel stopped and looked at me.

"They're working for the current king... King Talor..."

I tilted my head.

"Talor..?"

Rildel nodded.

"Yes. King Talor." He anwsered and suddenly walked to me.

"What were they looking for?" I asked as Rildel looked at me with a worried look on his face.

"They said, they were looking for someone 'from the outside'...." He said looked into my eyes.

I gulped.

"What ever you do... Stay away from those men!" Rildel exclaimed and grabbed my shoulders.

I nodded and looked at the door. Why where they after me...? And how did they even know that someone "from the outside" is here...?

As I went trough the door I turned around and smiled to Rildel one last time before we sayed goodbye to eachother.

"Take care of your self boy! And remember what I said!" He yelled to me when I was walking away from the house.

"I will! Thank you about everything!" I said and stopped at the city gate.

I looked up at the big blue sky and took a deep breath, This was it. One of the biggest steps in my entire life. A new world just wating to be explored and found. Who knows what might await me on my journy. Well, I was going to find it out, no matter what.

I looked back once more when the city was shrinking in a distance behind me. I sighed and turned to look forward again. Come to think of it, where should I even head out to next? Rilded mentioned that there was a naighbour town here somewhere, but he didn't say wich direction it was at. I tryed not to think about it. I kept repeating my self that I'd eventually end up in some town if I just kept following the path.

I had walked for an hour or so, and there still weren't ANY signs of sivilisation around. All I could see was grassy fields and hills and an edge of a forest going alongside the path I was walking on. I stopped and sighed as I saw the sun start to set.

'Oh, this isn't good...' I tought and looked around. The forest didn't look very friendly and i started picking up my pace. I didn't have any experience in spending the night outside in the wilderness. So I HAD to find a place to stay. Somehow, I knew I wasn't going to find one... It was allmost dark, and the sun was almost fully dissapeared behind the horizon.

"Aw that's just great! This is how my 'grand adventure' is going to be like!" I yelled and walked around in circles frustrated, and angry at my self.. I should have just stayed at Rildels place.

Suddenly, I heared some voices in the nearby bushes. Rustling. What was it? A wild animal? Or a weird creature that didn't even exist in our world? Or better yet, a monster!? All the possibilities ran trough my mind like slideshow pictures. Then, I heared growling.

I froze up completely as I saw two really weird and dangerous looking creatures crawl out from the bushes. They looked like lizards with fur, or like a strange mixture of an alligator and a wolf. Either way, they didn't seem friendly. I stumbled backwards and fell down on the ground.

'Use the flute! Use a spell! ANYTHING! QUIK!' I kept telling my self but my body wouldn't co-operate. I just quivered there as the two dark figures crawled closer and closer. I covered my face when one of them suddenly jumped at me letting out a furious roar. But then I heard a loud thump and the whimpering sound of the creature.

I slowly opened my eyes and looked forward. There was a huge figure standing infront of me, in between me and the two creatures. The other one of the creatures had fallen down and the other one was growling at the figure before me. But as the fallen creature rose up they both started running away, back in to the depths of the woods. The figure lowered his arms and turned around. My eyes widened as I saw the creature before me.

A glistening golden main. Deep blue cat like eyes and huge strong looking arms. A muscular body and a long tail swaying slowly behind him. He was like a lion walking on two feet! Or a mixture of a lion and a man. That's the best way I could describe him. He was wearing black baggy pants that were held up by a heavy looking belt with a big golden buckle, he wasn't wearing any shirt. He also had a tattoo in his left shoulder and a black armband in the other arm. There was also a chain-like necklace around his neck.

The lion looked at me in the eyes as if to see if I was allright. I was about to say thank you, when he suddenly turned around and started walking forward.

'Huh..?' I tought and quikly pulled my self up.

I ran after the lion and ran beside him.

"Thank you, you... You saved my life!" I said, but the lion didn't seem to even look at me.

"Um. Helloooo? I said thank you!" I said and waved my hand. The lion just scowled at me and continued walking along.

I stopped.

'What's his problem...' I tought and shrugged. I ran after him again and this time infront of him.

"Excuse me Mr. Lion sir. Would you happen to know the way to the nearest town?" I asked but stumbled on a rock because I was walking backwards.

"Wh-Whoa!" I studdered as I fell down again. The lion didn't seem to bother at all again. He just went past me minding his own business.

This time I got really pissed. I quikly stood up and ran infront of the lion again.

"NOW SEE HERE, you, lion you! You just saved my life back there! Could you even tell me your name? Huh?" I said and spread my arms.

Again, no anwser. It was allready dark and I was getting hungry. My stomach growled. The lion seemed to notice this and he smirked a little. He turned towards the woods and made his way trough the bushes. I blinked and watched after him, curious about what he was going to do. I pushed the bushes aside as I went after him into the woods.

I tryed to make my way trough the bushes but I stumbled many times and fell down alot, I even got my leg stuck in the vines! But after struggling for a while, I saw a faint light from between the leaves. It was a campfire. I peeked trough the bushes and saw that the lion was sleeping next to the campfire on a pile of leaves. I slowly walked closer, and saw that there was a piece of meat on a stick over the campfire, there had been two, apperently, since there was an empty stick next to the lion on the ground. To my surprise, and releaf, I also saw that there was another pile of leaves on the other side of the campfire.

'Did... Did he make this for me...?' I tought and slowly pulled the meat off of the stick. He didn't seem to mind... Or he just didn't notice.

Anyway.

I was too hungry, I HAD to eat something, so I ate the meat.

Aftar gulping down the last bit of it, I sat down on the empty leafpile and sighed.

"Thank you..." I said quietly and layed down. And before I knew it, I had allready fallen asleep.
