Chapter 2: Destiny revealed
The new chapter 2
As I regained consciousness, the memories of last nights events came rushing back into my mind like a tidal wave. Jumping to my feet I discovered that I was indeed alone, alone and naked. Letting out a yell of shocked as I tried to covering my body with my hands all the while turning in circles attempting to find my clothes. Once located I hurriedly got dressed the whole time trying to figure out if last night was real or just a dream, for it seemed too far fetched to be real and too real to be a dream. But if it was a dream than why was I lying naked on the ground, looking around I noticed her foot prints in the ground, clearly there was at least some truth to last nights events for I defiantly had not been alone.
"Wait a minute, she bit me." Pulling my shirt back off I looked down at my arm and sure enough there where two small circular scars right where she had bit me. But that wasn't what caught my attention, what really intrigued me was what was located between them. There as if branded into my arm for all the world to see was a small blood red marking of a dragons head with flames coming out of its neck and then circling back to its snout. "Weird" were the only words I had to descried it as I ran my hand over the smooth marking.
Putting my shirt back on I began looking all around for the mysterious dragon I had meet last night, but she was nowhere to be found, all that remained of her where her paw prints in the earth. Confused by her absence I began packing my things up and loading them back onto my horse, hoping that she would return and answer a few questions what were rolling around in my head. Once ready I got back on my horse taking one last look around hoping to see her return, but I would not be so lucky.
Returning back to the main road I continued my journey to Harrisburg. Riding along the lonely road I plenty of time to think about last nights events and with nothing else better to do it was at least something to help pass the time. Riding along my mind began to replay the event of last night over and over in my head as I attempted to make sense of all that had happened. However so far all I could come up with was that I had turned into a dragon, had sex with a dragon, and then passed out and turned back into a man. Which still left one very big question as to why she left, it just didn't make sense as to why we would mate and then for her to just disappear or perhaps that was normal for dragons, I really had no way of knowing.
As the sun began its final decent, I decided it would be a good idea to set up camp, turning once again off the main trail I proceeded to journey deep into the safety of the forest to set up camp, wondering the whole time if she would return again. Shortly after I found a clearing to my liking and set up camp, my horse grazing on the nearby vegetation. Then as day turned to night I gave up waiting and went to bed.
The morning came with little warning as I was startled awake by the sound of an approaching animal, hopeful that it was her I jumped out of my sleeping bag and stood outside my tent, though what I saw next confused me. For the sound I heard had not been a dragon but a deer more than fifty feet away, puzzled that a creature so stealthy would be creating such a large noise was beyond me. But the problem was that it was indeed moving quietly, at least quiet enough that I shouldn't be able to hear it. It was then as I started to listen carefully to the sound that I realized that I could hear a lot better than before in fact the difference was so noticeable that it drove my mind crazey trying to figure out where each sound was coming from.
Though not only was my hearing better but my eyesight as well for I could see that deer as clearly as if it was standing ten feet in front of me, it was almost as if my eyes had involuntarily zoomed in all on their own. Taken back by what was happening I barely even noticed all the new smells that my nose had detected. For instead of just being able to smell one smell at a time it seemed that my nosed could pick out many smells all at once and distinguish between them, it was incredible.
Once I had my fill of fun with these new senses, I packed up my things and continued on my way to Harrisburg, and if I had judged it right I should be arriving there by noon. Reaching the edge of town I continued along still transfixed by my heightened senses smelling everything I could just to see what it smelled like. Yet for all the enjoyment I was having I still felt my stomach sink as I realized that I truly had no plans and only enough money for a few days of food and lodging. This realization quickly shifted my attention from just enjoying the town, to looking for job opportunities and ways to make money, but if worse came to worse I figured I could just join in the service of the king as a soldier.
As dinner time rolled around my stomach told me that it was time to eat, so giving up my job hunt I headed to a nice oriental restaurant I noticed while wandering through the city, for of all the places here, theirs was the only one my nose had become obsessed with and what ever smelled that good had to taste even better. Arriving at the small restaurant I tied up my horse and headed inside. Taking a set at the bar I found what it was my nose wanted, as a waiter delivered some bowls of what appeared to be noodles to some hungry customers.
"What would you like?" asked the old Chinese man behind the counter.
"I'll have whatever they had." I responded pointing to the table behind me.
"Ahh, good choice sir Beef Ramen Noodles it is our specialty." He said as he disappeared into the kitchen. Returning with my bowl of noodles.
"Thanks. I'm starving." I replied as I began to devour the meal which was set before me and either this was the best meal I had ever had or I was very hungry, but most likely it was a little of both. Though I really had no time enjoying the meal as I had to eat and run, for the last thing I wanted was to be wandering around a strange town at night looking for a place to stay. So upon finishing my meal I kindly thanked the old man for the best meal I had ever had, paid for it and went back outside just in time to see the sun disappear behind the mountains. Turning to my right I went to go get my horse and find an inn or someplace safe to spend the night.
"Hey where's my horse?" I said as I was looking over the horses which where still tired up. Someone must of stole it I thought turning to go back into the restaurant.
Walking back up to the bar the old man turned to me and said "Is something wrong."
"Yeah someone stole my horse."
"Well I am sorry; this town is not very safe you should be more careful." He replied with no sympathy in his voice, it was apparent that my horse was only one of many that had probably been stolen.
"Well can you at least tell me where I can find a place to sleep?"
"Yes, there is an inn just north of here. Turn right once you leave here then go two blocks down and turn left, you can't miss it." said the old man cheerfully.
"Thanks" I replied as I left the restaurant and headed back outside. Once outside I turned right as directed and headed down the street, trying to decipher between alleys and actual streets so as not to get lost and make a wrong turn. But it turned out to be harder than it sounded as I turned on what I thought was the second street only to find myself in a dead end alley. "Man this sucks" I said as I turned around to see four young men coming towards me.
"Can I help you find something?" The biggest one asked as he approached me. "You look lost."
"Hey come on guys I don't want any trouble." I said trying to remain calm.
"Well if you weren't looking for trouble you came to the wrong place buddy, but seen how you look like your new around here I'll make a deal with ya. Just give me everything you have and well let you live, how's that for a deal."
To say I was scared would be an understatement, as I stood there frozen with fear my mind going over my options, either try to fight and lose or have them take everything I got left and try to make it back home without dieing, both of which looked pretty bad at this point.
"Well what all it be." The big guy asked as his buddies circled around behind me just incase I tried to run.
As my fear increased to panic I began to hear the rapped thud of my heart beat as adrenalin pumped through my body preparing for a fight. Then as if time itself had slowed down I began to feel my fear melt away as a surge of power rushed through my body, causing all my senses to sharpen. Suddenly I no longer had to wonder where the four men were standing for I could locate them just by the sound of their breathing. The darkness fading as if it were daylight out as my eyes zeroed on its target.
"To late" The leader said stepping forwards as he wound back with his right arm preparing to hit me in the gut. Then as his fist was coming towards my stomach I reached down grabbing it with such speed that he had no time to react, then side stepping him I threw him to the ground while my other arm elbowed him in the face sending him flying backwards. Staring eye to eye now with the man who was on my left I could see the shock on his face quickly fade into anger as the guy behind me grabbed my arms putting me into a full nelson. The man in front quickly taking advantage of the situation grabbed my head and threw it towards his knee which was making its way up. But their strength was no match for mine as I used the momentum to throw the guy off my back and into his buddy who was about to knee me in the face.
Turning to the fourth guy who by now had pulled out a knife and was already lunging at me, but even then he was no match for my speed as I grabbed both his hand and rolling backwards kicked him in the chest throwing him harmlessly past me, only to land with a loud thud. Then with a quick flip I righted my self back up and turned to face my attackers, my rage burning within me at what these men had tried to do and with that anger came another surge of adrenaline, causing my skin to grow tight as my body began to bulk up even more in preparation of another fight.
The men who had by now regrouped stared in horror as I continued to grow bigger before their very eye, my skin turning darker beneath my ever tightening clothes. Then as quickly as they had gotten ready for another attack they changed their minds, fleeing from this monster that stood before them. Once they where gone my mind began to final relax, my heart rate returned to normal as my transformation stopped. Looking over myself I started realizing the reality of my situation, for had I began to change in public I would have been in a world of trouble. Not to mention that the king has ordered the killing of all dragons and had I changed all the way there is no doubt in my mind that he would of given orders for my death too.
I must learn how to control this I thought looking once again at myself as I waited to turn back to normal, but it appeared as if I would have no such luck this time. "Alright you can do this." I said as I calmed down focusing had on my old self as if willing myself to return to normal. Nothing happened at first and then slowly but surely I could feel my clothes loosen as my body began to shrink back to normal. Opening my eyes and checking myself over one more time just to make sure that I had indeed turned back to normal, I walked calmly back out of the alley and out onto the main street, which was now quite a bit darker since my vision had returned to normal as well.
Once back on the main road I found, that had I walked a little bit further I would have found my turn easily as there was a well lit inn just down the road to my left right where the old man had said it would be. Walking in, I found the place to be pretty busy for this time of night as people were spread through out the dinning area eating and drinking, basically just having a good time talking with one another. Though I should have tried to get to know some the people in hopes of finding work I was too tired to care. So after paying for the night I retreated quickly to the solitude of my dark room exhausted from the transformation I crawled into bed though I don't remember my head even hitting the pillow before I was out.
Awaking I found myself standing in the forest, shocked I looked around to see exactly where I was, I noticed that my body just didn't move quite right. Looking at my legs I discovered the reason, I was back in my dragon form standing naked in the forest. Well this is odd I though as an old man walked towards me, leaning heavily on his staff as he came into view wearing a white robe.
"Hello Draco, I have been looking for you for a long time now." He said coming to a stop just in front of me. "My name is Steve Hui and I am a teacher."
"Hi my name is John" I replied, shocked at what was happening for it was as if I was dreaming but still awake all at the same time.
"No! My student." said the old man sternly. "When you are in this form you are Draco, it is who you are."
"Who are you, and what's going on here?"
"As I said I am a teacher. Your teacher. I have been searching for the one for years waiting for him to arrive. Now that I have found you I will teach you the ways of the Dragon. Though since I am far away I can only teach you in your sleep, for it is when you are dreaming that I may communicate with you. I know you have many questions but for now you will have to wait as I must go. But do not worry I will return to begin your training tomorrow night. Until then you must keep your abilities a secret, for there are those who wish to kill you Draco." And with that he vanished leaving me in this dream world.
"Man this feels so real" I said as I began to explore the forest around me. Which turned out to be harder than it sounds as walking on my dragon legs took some getting used to, but in no time flat I was able to get the hang of it and began enjoying the thrill of running through the forest at speeds that rivaled even the fastest horses. Wow this is incredible I thought, pausing to catch my breath as I remembered that I was in fact dreaming, or was I. It felt so real, well only one way to find out. Then willing myself to wake up, I sat up in bed only to find myself back in the inn. "Wow, that was cool." I said laying back down to go to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day I thought as I began drifting off to sleep once again.
