Growing Up Gay in High School - Book 2: Sophomore Year - Chapter 1
The first story of the next book of my series!
Helloooooo everyoneee!!! I know! Such a long time! It's been crazy busy and I've barely had time to sort out how I'm going to progress this along. So we shall see! Hopefully you guys enjoy! This will be just a little short intro for the next book. I am not sure if this will be as long as book 1 but I'm hoping to make it more intense with more drama! What will happen!? Well lets begin to find out!
P.S. The brother's name is Roy, my apologies for temporarily switching it to Rory for a few chapters. It is Roy and will remain that way for the rest! Sorry again for the confusion!
The summer was coming to a close. And it went fairly swimmingly and went along with the plan that I had devised early on with Colin. Colin and I had "broken up" we made it public, did a whole fiasco that we were just exploring and that it was gross and that we didn't like it. We would get back at it during college and come out then. I'm sure the acceptance won't be 100%, but it'll be much better than now.
It was the week before school started. Sophomore year, the halfway point of high school, already! The year I would get my license and have a little more freedom from the rents. Without having to be dependent on them or anyone else for rides. I could not wait!
Back to the plan, Colin and I did indeed find "girlfriends" and to our advantage they were girls that new we were playing along to give an image. Thankfully, being gay had it's perks to become friends with a lot of girls that were willing to do a lot for you. So we would only have to show the occasional PDA in school but other than that, it was still a casual friendship. Colin and I felt a little bad because if they wanted to get a boyfriend, they really couldn't without exposing us. But we didn't plan to stay with them for along, just until we provided the right image and then we would drop it. Maybe even before homecoming. I could really care less if I didn't go this year.
And then there was Jason. I had to rethink that. It was pretty much set to the back of my mind. He was that gorgeous stallion that flirted with me the last week or so of classes. I am not sure what to do. He could definitely protect me no matter what. But what's his story? What if he's abusive? Or he could be amazing! Oh the questions! But thankfully, I still had some time before we had to cross that bridge.
Roy lay in bed, pondering his life at the moment. He was entering his freshman year. He and Luke had become lovers and things were going fantastic. We kept it right under Ty's nose. He couldn't believe that he was able to manage it. Obviously, he had to keep going to Luke's house. Thankfully he didn't live too far where he would need a ride. But whenever Ty went to Colin's, he had Luke over and just kept it on the sly from his parents. He was good, almost too good.
And questions wandered in his mind. One thing was for sure that he was not going to go public at all. He would keep it on the DL. Maybe he'll tell his best friend some day, but in no way is it going to happen anytime soon. He did not want to start experiencing the same thing Ty did. No way in hell was he going to chance it. And if Luke even hinted at it he would lay down the law right then and there that it wasn't going to happen. He got up and decided to go for a walk. It was a nice day, might as well enjoy it before he had to spend everyday in classrooms.
Colin was with his "girlfriend" hanging out at the mall enjoying some food for a while chit chatting about this and that. Gossiping a bit as well and checking out the guys that walked past them.
As Colin agreed or disagreed with Sarah, he actually began to feel turned off by the aspect of dating a guy. He began to wonder what if it was actually just a phase? Maybe he liked the thrill of the secrecy but then when he wanted to be exposed and all that followed he realized that it was awful. He was aware of the usual "it gets better" ordeal but how long before that? Was it worth getting beat up for? Not really in his eyes.
And then there was Sarah. She was amazing. She was almost like a best friend. Could he be developing feelings for her? But what is that's also just an illusion and it's just his mind's way of trying to rationalize with the situation? Gah! He didn't know what to do!
School has started. This was it. My mom had dropped me off. Shit. What was going to happen? What can I expect? Who knows! Roy and I walked in since we were dropped off together and took in the scene.
I obviously didn't expect to get ambushed within the first 30 seconds. Roy walked off to his class and to go wandering a bit in case he got lost. We arrived early for that reason. I knew exactly where to go. I had gone to my locker and put my stuff in and got it ready and set it all up for the new year. On the floor of the locker, I had noticed a folded up piece of paper with my name on it. Puzzled, I opened it up. It read:
Ty,
We saw what's been going on with you. There's no need to start dating a girl. Don't waste her time. It's ok who you are. You have support. We are the LGBTQ community for this high school and we're willing to help. We are not a huge group. In fact we are very small, consisting of 5 students. We don't do a lot of advertisements because obviously being the small group that we are we really can't. The school also is not very supportive of us either but thankfully we have an awesome teacher who is on our side. It's a shame, really, but we have to start somewhere. We meet in Room 105 on Fridays after school. Feel free to come check us out. We have given Colin a note as well.
Hope to hear from you soon.
I put the note away in my pocket. Interesting. I wasn't even aware we had a group. The school must really allow them only to meet and nothing else. Can't really say I don't believe it considering the vibe I got recently. They obviously did not know the whole situation and such so I cannot fault them for that since it's simply a clarification.
The bell had rung signaling a minute left before class started and I had to book it since I got lost in the note from re-reading it a couple of times. When I got there it was pretty booked. I noticed a couple of familiar faces and I saw Luke! I didn't know that we were sharing a class because at first we had saw that we didn't have any together.
I walked up and sat behind him.
"Hey man! I thought we didn't have any classes together!"
"We didn't! But I switched due to a conflict with one of my electives and such. Blah blah blah. But it's cool to have you in at least one!" he laughed.
The teacher walked in and began to start. Here we go again.
After Colin had read the note, he simply threw it in the trash. He wasn't going to bother with it. He decided he might want to explore the girlfriend prospect a little more. Ty doesn't have to know, right? But Sarah isn't probably going to go for it. She doesn't want to get heart broken. He couldn't really blame her for that. But it was worth at least bringing it up and trying! He wouldn't know unless he tried right?? He felt a little selfish for this but in the end, he has to look after himself. For all he knows he could be going to a totally different college in a totally different state from Ty and he was not going to do long distance.
He walked to class, sat down, took out his notes, and waited for it to begin. He still had some time to ponder this even during class since the teacher was probably only going to go over the syllabus within the short time frame that they had.
His mind began to drift. Here we go again.
When the bell had rung signifying the end the end of the first period Luke was ecstatic. He ran out and to his locker, grabbed his things for the next class bolted to it, and sat down eagerly. He was very early but he didn't care.
The class that he enrolled in was the intro to a language course that of course was mixed with freshman. And there was one particular freshman that had enrolled in it as well and fate so had it that they ended up having the same class together. He looked eagerly at the door and waited for him.
And then his annoying mind began to interfere with its questions. How was he going to tell Ty? How would he react if they did? And if they broke up in some bad way before Ty found out and Roy ratted him out and made him look bad Ty was obviously going to side with him. Great. This just ruined an awesome moment.
Roy walked in and when Luke saw him, he smiled the best he could. Roy smiled back and took a seat right next to him.
"Is something wrong?" Roy asked.
"No not at all!" Luke smiled and turned to face the board. The teacher was rambling in Spanish and he had no idea what she was saying.
Here we go again.
At the end of the day, I was so relieved that nothing horrible had happened. I walked to my locker for what will be the last time today and got his things. But I spoke too soon. The Doberman that pushed me last year and pushed me to a locker arrived and pushed me again to turn me around.
"What the hell do you think you're doing faggot?" he growled.
My eyes had widened.
"Wh..what are you talking about it?" I asked, mentally punching myself for stammering.
"Why are you dating my cousin? You're a faggot. You're going to break her little heart." He continued, getting closer.
My heart sank. Are you kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me? Why didn't she tell me!? I mean, obviously there were plenty of Doberman that went to this school so when I had told her this story she didn't think it was her cousin, but guess what!? Great. Just great. I had to cover my tracks.
"It was just a phase. I'm not gay. I thought I might have been. But I'm not." I said firmly.
He stared deep into my eyes and put his hand on the locker right next to my head making a deafening sound. I flinched slightly.
"You better be fucking right because if you do break her heart and I see you with a guy I'm going to beat the shit out of you." he barked.
"Leave him the fuck alone." A voice had said.
I turned. It was Jason. Are you kidding me? Could this get anymore insane!? A little too coincidental of timing if you ask me. Jason came closer and hovered over the Doberman. He was so much taller. And more ripped if you asked me. He was wearing a torn sleeveless shirt. He must've been on the way to the school gym to work out. God he looked gorgeous. Enough! I have to get out of this mess.
"Why the hell are you protecting him Jason?" So they knew each other. Interesting.
"What do you have against him Corey? He hasn't done anything wrong. Leave the kid alone." Jason stepped closer. I could see there was some anger in his eyes. He glanced at me. I blushed slightly. So Corey was the Doberman's name.
"I'm just making sure he won't fuck around with my cousin. He needs to know that I don't bullshit." Corey stepped back and turned fully to Jason.
"He gets it. Get the fuck outta here before I get really mad." Jason said, glaring.
Eeek. Don't want to get on his bad side.
Corey left and Jason stood there. I could feel myself blush more.
"You all right?" he asked, his expression totally changing to caring. He put his hand on my shoulder.
I could've melted right then and there. God he was amazing. I nodded.
"Thanks." I whispered.
"No problem. I like to look out for the younger classmen, especially certain ones. Guess you could say I'm a rarity." He let go and smiled, looking down at me.
I wasn't sure how to take that but I blushed even more. Gah I had to get my act together!
"Well, I'll be seeing you around. Talk to you soon!"
And that was that. Nothing else. I stared in disbelief.
I began to walk out of the school and Roy found me.
"Hey bro, how was your first day?"
"It was alright. Nothing too eventful." I lied.
Quite the contrary, not only was this day eventful but I feel this whole year was going to be.
Well there you have it! I hope you guys liked the intro! I look forward to writing more! Hopefully they won't take nearly as long! I'm back folks!
