#3 of An Unexpected Journey

Hey everyone! I am having an extremely difficult week in almost every aspect of my life... so instead of facing some of those problems or doing my courework for graduation in the spring... I decided to write another chapter! Enjoy! Sound off in the comments! (sorry it is on the shorter side, the next portion of my story seems to be long and putting it with this chapter would have made it extremely long and would not have been ready to post today)

I woke up in a field. Dazed and confused I tried to sit up but found doing so difficult. I decided to just lay here for a minute trying to take in my surroundings. The grass was longer than what I was used to seeing. The sun was high in the sky and the weather was quite calm with a gentle breeze blowing across the grass from time to time. It felt like a dream; a very tranquil place.

After several moments passed I remembered what had happened. This was no dream. Enough resting, I thought, I need to see where I am. I peeped my head over the grass and looked around in all directions. To my left was an enormous forest that seemed very dark and dank. To my right the field continued on what looks like for miles. After contemplating what to do, I decided to suck it up and get through the pain standing up caused, so I could get a better look.

There was no sign of the lion in sight. I could see a dirt path leading through the field so I decided to walk along the field's path instead of taking my chances in the forest. I walked about 50 feet and then saw some rustling coming from the grass a couple hundred feet ahead of me. I froze. It was the lion, I could tell by the way his mane was sticking out, but it didn't look like he was in an attack position. It was more like he was laying face up, the same way I woke up.

"ughhh," the lion moaned, "Wha-what happened."

I immediately dove a few feet in front of me, hoping the lion didn't see me.

"Shit, where is he?" the lion sat up, looking around.

"Zanith! Where are you..." the lion taunted. I could hear his voice getting close to my location. I decided laying here would be the best option. If I moved he would probably see the grass move. He continued talking to himself, as I wasn't listening to a word he was saying. His talking proved to be to my advantage because I could hear he was now heading away from me. It was now or never. Time to move, my best chance of losing him is by running through the forest area. I quietly stood up and could see the lion was getting pretty far away from my location. I turned around and made a break for it.

"And where do you think you're going?" the lion's booming voice yelled.

"Shit. Shit. Shit," I muttered trying to run even faster, but it didn't matter. The lion caught up to me before I could get halfway to the forest and tackled me to the ground.

"Oww! What is wrong with you?" I complained.

"You may be important Zanith, but I can still use force if I have to," the lion stated.

"We've been through so much... why don't you be a good boy," he commanded as he licked the side of my cheek.

"Uh..." was all I managed to get out until I realized I still haven't used the restroom. "uh... I have to uhm use the restroom."

"Ah well, let's go!" he signaled me to follow him to the nearest tree.

Hesitant, I started to follow. We walked in silence as he led me up to a tree. There he stood a few feet away from me and would not take his eyes off o f me.

"Hold up. Can't I use the restroom by myself?"

"Can I trust you to come right back to me if I was to walk away?" The lion questioned.

"Absolutely"

"Hmm..." the lion pondered, "Good try, Zanith. If I lost you the king would kill me."

"Will you stop calling me..." I trailed off, "Wait, did you say king?"

"Yes sir"

Where am I? I pondered. I need to get out of here. I began to unzip my fly when I noticed the lion was still staring at me, resulting in me pausing for a moment.

"well..." the lion said breaking the silence.

"I can't go with you watching"

"Why not?" the lion questioned

"Well for starters I don't even know you. A stranger standing next to me while I pee is awkward. I don't even know your name, you're just my captor."

"My name is Ranfult and I'm not a captor," Ranfult retorted.

"And what do you call this?" I questioned angrily.

"My last mission," Ranfult said with a hint of sadness in his voice, and with that he turned around to let me do my business. After I finished I glanced around the tree and saw Ranfult still walking away. This is my chance. I could try to lose him in the forest. I turned around in the direction of the forest and could barely see five feet in front of my due to the lack of natural light.

Suddenly I heard a noise. Something I was completely unfamiliar with. I could not put into words what I was hearing, but it was not pleasant. If I was to make a run for it, the thing that is making that noise would surely get me. Even if I was to avoid the creature I'm sure Ranfult knows the area and I'd be caught instantly. I would prefer to not be tackled again or eaten by the noise bearing creature. But still... I did not want to go with Ranfult...

Ranfult looked back at me and we made eye contact. Ok, I said to myself, Now or never. Just as I was about to run Ranfult looked away and continued to walk in the opposite direction. I decided to run after Ranfult and see what exactly is in store for me in this new world.

"Ranfult! Wait up!" I yelled as I ran after the lion. All I could think about is what I just got myself into... and why this whole ordeal was happening to me...
