This story is about Sunkra the otter boy visiting his parents' grave and meeting a very sweet wolf boy Nikai. This story contains: gay, no sex

Sunkra meets Nikai on a black day.

The brown leaves fall down to the earth, a little breeze waving the branches of the weep tree over the many stones in the grassy fields... the earth holds his breath in blissful peace here. With small steps and his head looking down, Sunkra steps over the little path with his bike by hand, sadness in every fiber of his being as he knows exactly where to walk to. It has been five, almost six years since he told his father about his sexual preference and his way of life now that he was an adult in the eyes of the law. He couldn't cope with it. Turning his bike, Sunkra steps into a smaller lane with graves, this is the corner where those unholy in the eyes of the church were buried: unbaptized children and adults, those with other religions, those committing crimes against the church... like suicide... The otter boy wears decent and plain clothes, though not black as he doesn't want to depress himself any further. He had taken a day off, Sunkra does it every year on the same day, a tear running down his cheek which he quickly sniffles away.

He stops, pausing for a few long seconds and then lowers himself on his knees, wiping away the tears in his eyes as he rasps his voice:"Hello mom... hello dad..."Of course no reply comes from the cold, dead stone, the wind blowing a few more leaves over the slightly overgrown duo grave. A picture of a pretty otter lady and good looking otter man look back at him from the tiny frame, the picture long since past turned yellow due to weather conditions and age. Sniveling, Sunkra gets a little gardening kit from his bicycle bags, starting to pull out the weeds and freshen up the grave of his parents,"Don't know how you's two are... so fa' away from me... I's hope you's are happy and gud where you's are now..."He can't stop another tear from welling up in the corner of his eye, sniffing and wiping it away with the hem of his shirt. "I's miss you's two so much... why did you's have to go? I's didn't want tah disappoint you's so..."

All those years back, Sunkra had stumbled back home well drunk and on his first ever high, he had never felt so good in his life as he made sweet love to the boy he thought was the one for him, right there in his bedroom. His parents had walked in and freaked, first because he was under age and having sex with another under age person, but mostly because it finally turned out he liked boys too. Well, his father mostly on the last part, he didn't speak to his son for days. Days became weeks and finally almost a month after, on a very sunny noon at school, the principal had come to his classroom and requested he'd pack his things and come with him. The school psychologist was present as the principal introduced Sunkra the otter boy to a very troubled looking policewoman, his cries and sobs of sorrow were hearable through the entire hallway outside the office. His parents were found when the station received a call of a car driving right off a bridge, diving twenty meters or so lower into the water. Rescue workers and police had swarmed in as fast as they could after receiving the call, but it was too late. The two bodies of his parents were found, his mother tightly buckled up in her seat and his father with a gun in his hand behind the steering wheel. Sunkra's father didn't have any injuries, only his mother had taken a bullet through her stomach and was most likely still alive when they drowned.

Big tears well up again in Sunkra's eyes as he plants new flowers, taking some of the old ones out of the ground from last year which had withered and died. "Why dad?" he mumbles, rubbing the salty fluid and his dreadlocks away from his eyes:"Why did you's do it? Was it that awful tah have me as you's son and take me for who I's am?"He tries to man up, but breaks down, dropping the gardening equipment and covering his face with his hands, his shoulders heaving up and down as he sobs. Sunkra had repressed the memory of those awful months to a tiny little box in the backside of his mind, only allowing himself to open it once every year on this day. His mother had been so sweet and understanding the last few days she was alive, of course she had to process it too but she loved the otter boy no matter who he was and accepted him. Why couldn't his dad do the same? Manning up and clearing his throat, blowing into a handkerchief, Sunkra starts talking to the silent grave about his past year. How he had much fun most of the time and about his philosophy that every person is in their way extraordinary and beautiful, deserving to be loved.

He had just finished planting the last flowers as suddenly he hears a voice from behind him:"Excuse me, do you have the time?"The otter looks around to see a smiling wolf boy standing a little further from him, dressed in some posh dark clothes and patiently waiting for a reply. Trying to hide that he cried, Sunkra opens his cellphone and tells the wolf it's almost 12 o'clock. A few moments pass by as the other boy doesn't budge, just smiling compassionately at the otter before he speaks again in a most sweet voice:"I'm sorry to bother you, my name is Nikai. Are you visiting anyone important?"Turning his sad face to the grave again and his paws dirty from working with the flowers and the ground, Sunkra slowly gathers his tools:"My parents, they died tahday six years back. I's Sunkra."With the same compassionate smile, the wolf steps a little bit closer, offering his hand to the otter boy which accepts it and gets pulled up to his two feet:"Sorry to hear that, man. I was just about to get some lunch and tea, could I interest you in some too? My treat of course."Looking back down at the grave and the empty plastic bags where the fresh flowers had been in, Sunkra reckoned he could cut his visit short this year and enjoy some company instead of being alone here:"Sure, why not. Lemme clean up my stuffs."

Soon the otter and the wolf boy step side by side whilst Sunkra guides his bike along, talking about light minded things. They stop at a little café and take a seat at a little table outside on the green terrace in the sun. At first Sunkra is a little hesitant to accept that Nikai pays for the lunch, but after the wolf boy states with a big smile that he won't have it otherwise, the otter caves in and orders a coke and a Croque Monsieur, which is two pieces of toast with quality cheese and ham between them. Nikai tells Sunkra that he works as a graphic designer for a pretty big advertising bureau, pointing to a huge billboard at the other side of the street and claiming that he composed that campaign. He smiles and listens with care and interest to the fragile otter boy as he tells the handsome wolf he has a job as a dancer at a night club and that his live was beautiful overall."But you're sad because today is a rough day, isn't it?" and Nikai sips his cup of tea and pulls his plate with buttered croissants closer. The otter just nods and gulps down another bite of his plain but delicious Croque Monsieur, adding some more ketchup on top of the toast:"Aye, my dad an' mom have been gone fo' a long time bu'... I's guess I's just can't forget.""As it should be, it is important to hold our dearly departed alive in our mind where God failed to keep them here physically," Nikai sips his tea again and puts the cup down, smiling at the other boy whom had gained a weird look when the wolf had mentioned 'God', "I's dun't believe in God, nevah have an' nevah will.""I can understand that, I personally don't believe in the farce that is church and the pope and such, but I do believe God exists in everything beautiful around us and in the hearts of people."

Sunkra rolls his eyes, not wanting to ruin this peaceful moment he just eats. Nikai does the same in his quiet and distinguished way, he was clearly a college kid with good funds. The otter can't complain himself, when he started dancing he suddenly earned tons more cash than when he was still a shop assistant. As they sit quietly, the waiter comes to check if everything is up to expectation and they both compliment the food and drinks, standing up as the table is cleared,"That was a lovely meal, Sunkra, I do hope you enjoyed it too and that I was at least able to lift a little bit of the clouds above your head today."The wolf smiles so sweetly at the otter that Sunkra feels a small smile return to his mouth, extending his hand to shake Nikai's, but gets pulled into a brief and manly hug,"Now, as I said before my name is Nikai and I do hope to meet you again, Sunkra, you're a very beautiful person."Reaching in his pocket, Nikai retrieves a business card and quickly writes down his number on the back of the paper, apparently his personal number. He blushes slightly as he gives the otter the card:"Call me whenever you feel like having a drink or a walk or whatever with me. I really do hope you will call!"And with a very decent but less than formal kiss on the otter's cheek, Nikai waves and walks off down the street until he disappears around the corner.

Sunkra looks at the very professional looking card in his hands, his smile slightly increasing again as he unlocks his bike from the rack and mounts it, slowly riding back home.
