The Change
Chapter 1 - Same Old Routine.
My name is Alexander Redwing, and I'm part of the SAS, my team has 4 members, all highly skilled people and great friends. We're currently heading for the jungles in Burma where we have had reports that an hostile terrorist group has discovered some ancient ruins, but I don't care much for old stuff, even though its meant to be linked to the creation of the world or something like that. Anyway we're now approaching the Drop-Zone. Our orders are to find the group, wipe them out, and TRY to keep the ruins intact...just the same old routine.
The chopper was honing in on the drop-zone, its rotors blowing the trees apart. Even though this was the year 2074 the SAS still used old vehicles. Suddenly the pilot chipped in,
*Alpha squad, we're approaching our vector, there's not enough room to land, your gunna have to rope it down there *
* Will do * I said into my comm link. "Alright guys! Listen up! We're gunna have to rope it down there, just the basics. No enemy resistance expected, its gunna be a clean jump, all right boys, lets saddle up! I take it your all know our objectives?"
"Yes sir, find hostile force, and wipe them out"
"And???" I asked
"TRY and keep the ruins in one piece"
"Good, good, this will be easy, remember... pick your targets! Don't go firing a whole clip into a bush!"
* Alpha squad, ROLL CALL! *
"Redwing standing by, Peters standing by, Wilcox ready for duty, Winger ready to kick some ass!"
* All right, jump on my mark...3...2...1...NOW NOW NOW!!!! *
"GO, MOVE YOUR BUTTS! JUMP!"
We all grabbed hold of a rope and slid down to the earth below. "Get your vectors," I said in a low voice. "We don't want any surprises"
Once we had all landed and checked the area we headed northeast deep into the jungle, where these ruins are expected to be.
After about 10mins trekking through the jungle, we discovered that the enemy was well fortified in the ruins, " Wilcox, how many do you see?"
"Looks like 12 to me sir."
"Ok, go set up a sniper point over in that tree. Winger set that M78 (upgraded version of the M60) over in those shrubs. Peters follow me"
"Sir yes sir" they all reported.
Peters and me walked slowly into the shrubs, covering each other's backs. "Peters, as you're the demolitions man I want you to plant C7 around those pillars."
"But sir, what about the objectives?"
"We can say that they destroyed them, it just makes our job easier."
"Hmmmmmmmmmm... ok sir."
* Alpha squad, prepare to go live * I said into my comm. * on my mark.........now *
A loud sniper shot could be heard, as one of the terrorist's stomach was ripped open, dropping him to the floor. The M120 started to heat up, charging itself for the attack. Another sniper shot, another dead man. I started to fire my plasma carbine, gunning down 3 men that were running for cover. Suddenly the M120 released its pent up energy, a large plasma beam shot across the ruins, incinerating anyone unlucky enough to get in its way. *ALPHA SQUAD! GO! GO! GO! *
We started to rush them, charging into the frenzy. * How's those C7's coming along Peters? *
* Nearly done sir...almost...what the...SIR...NEED...HELP.........ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!! *
* Peters...PETERS! PETERS REPORT! *
"DAMN IT! ALPHA, IM GUNNA GO HELP PETERS, FINISH THE OBJECTIVES!"
"BUT SIR..."
"BUT NOTHING, I GOT HIM INTO THAT TROUBLE AND IM GUNNA GET HIM OUT OF IT!"
And with that I ran as fast as I could to Peters last location... sure enough, he was dead, but not in the way any human gun could do, his body had changed into a stone form, "Damnit" then I looked at what he was touching. "Huh?" it was a panel of some sort, with the words "only the chosen may connect" so I decided to touch the panel... and that's when it happened, the panel started to glow a bright blue, the light forcing me to put my goggles on. Then my hand started to glow blue, "what the..." the blueness travelled up my arm, across my chest, down the other arm, down to my legs then finally up to my head, the blue seemed to give off a cooling sensation. Making me feel very calm. I knew I should have called out, but something made me not want to. That's when the blue overtook my whole body, suddenly, it gave off a brilliant flash, and I blacked out. My squad mates came running to that spot, saw Peters, and then started to think where I was.
The problem is.........I don't know where I am.
