Chapter 6

Prom night

9 hours away, there it was the most dreaded thing for every teen, prom night. I looked myself in the mirror and noticed small grey hairs that were nearly noticeable, but I knew that mike would notice, so I wiped some of my black face fur over them and hoped that they were hidden from view. I pulled the strings of my sweat pants tighter, I started to stretch my arm, I did have my cast removed but it still itched really bad. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen to see my dad standing in front of the stove with the smell of bacon filling my nostrils. I sat down at the table and picked up the newspaper and noticed that a little line was highlighted, the line read "Andrew Corcoran abuse trial scheduled for march 14, 2012" I put the paper down after reading the line.

"I take it that mike has already read the paper." my dad said as he put a cover over the pan and sat down at the table. I silently nodded.

"oh cheer up the whole thing is already settled, he caused nearly 25,000 dollars in vehicular damage along with nearly 30 other people including me watching him attack mike and rebecca, me and your mom have talked and we have both noticed that you and mike are really in love so we have volunteered to become his partial parents for the 4 years until he becomes 21. Oh yeah and that is yesterdays paper." he said as he lightly punched me on the shoulder. I tapped his hand.

"why do you do that?" I asked before he sipped his coffee.

"what that's like 10 years of therapy to a guy." he said as he stood back up and went back to the bacon.

"I wonder who taught you that." I said as I stood up and walked over to the coffee maker and poured myself a cup. I walked off to wake mike up, he is living with us in the guest room. I opened up the door to the guest room and flicked the light on to reveal mike laying under the blankets with his feet sticking out from the other side. I turned the light off and walked over to the big window that was on the other side of the room. I pulled the curtains away from the window and natural sunlight filled the room. I walked over to mike and he smacked me with a pillow. Apparently the pillow was statically charged because when he pulled the pillow away my face fur was sticking up and I heard a light chuckle. "what are you...oh...um...did I interrupt something?" he asked as he poked his head into the door.

"yes, yes you did. Me and mike were just making out." I said as mike started to lick my chin.

"oh, okay well I just wanted to tell you that drake called and said he needed some help with his tux, oh and ah when me and your mom are at home please keep it at a PG rating, you two." my dad said as he left the room. Before he left he did that finger thing that jack did to Greg on the "meet the parents" directing it at both of us.

"you know only old people do that." I yelled over to him jokingly.

"I am old." he yelled back. I got up and pulled mile up with me.

"well, I guess you should go help drake with his tux." I said as I gave mike a little peck on the cheek. I lifted mike up from the bed and cradled mile over to the dress that contained all of his new clothes, since mikes dad kicked him out my dad and I went over to get his clothes but his dad had already burnt them to a Crisp, so in the following hours we took him to the mall and bought him a brand new wardrobe. He squirmed around and I let him go, he landed on his feet and shooed me away.

"out, out, out I need to get dressed." mike said As he pushed me out of the room.

"it not like I haven't seen you naked before." I pleaded to him but he managed to push me out the door.

"oh, and I saw some grey hairs. Nice try." he said as he shut the door in my face. I quietly cursed under my breath, I walked into the living room and I sat down on the big couch, it was a discount coach but it was hella comfy. I was about to fall asleep but then mike walked into the room with a tight sports shirt and jeans on, the sports shirt showed off his soccer abs. He pulled me off of the coach and handed me my car keys, with that we both walked to my car and drove over to drakes house, we were there in a matter of minutes. We both walked up to the door and drake welcomed us in, he had his tux all fixed up but the bow tie was all messed up.

"oh thank god you are here, Avery has been going insane. He is demanding me to show him what I look like in my tux, but I can't seem to get it tied up right." he said as mike reached up and tied it within seconds. "are you freaking serious, where did you learn how to do that?" drake asked mike.

"YouTube, that's where." mike said sarcastically. Drake slapped his forehead, and sighed loudly. Avery walked around the corner and walked over to us.

"what are you guys doing here?" Avery asked us, as soon as he did drake started shaking his head to symbolize no, so we both lied to Avery.

"oh, well me and mike came over because we were really bored and we wanted something to do before the prom." I lied between my teeth and he bought it. We both walked in as drake welcomed us, Avery only proceeded to fix drakes bow tie and then pecked him on the cheek. We all proceeded to walk to the living room, I sat down on the floor and mike sat down next to me, avery and drake sat down on the coach.

"you guys can sit on the couch if you want." drake said as he say down and unbuttoned his tuxedo jacket, and sat back. He breathed out heavily, Avery put his head down on his lap.

"I am really bored, I can't wait till the other get over here so we can go to prom." Avery said.

"what others?" drake said.

"a couple friends, my friends from my other school. Travis, Adam, kaden, and Jessie. they should be here in a hour, they said that they would be here at 6:30." Avery said, there was a knock at the door. Avery shot up and ran to the door, there was a lot of talking and girly screaming so I'm guessing that Avery's friends are here. Avery walked back accompanied by 4 other furs, a pink husky, burgundy furred skunk, a blue husky and another otter. They were all differing heights so standing side by side they kind of looked like a phone service meter.

"guys I would like to introduce, all the way from the other school, kaden, travis, Adam, and Jessie. I really only have contact with these guys because of Facebook." Avery said as kaden, Jessie, Adam, and travis all walked over to shake our hands. Travis seemed to be a little out of place because he wouldn't look me or mike or even drake in the eye. They were all dressed in tuxedos with a corsage that were the same colors as their fur but travis and kaden had the same color corsages.

"I don't mean to intrude but are kaden and Travis a couple?" I asked as kaden and travis sat down on the floor next to us.

"yes we are, 5 years together." kaden said as he kissed Travis on the top of the head, Travis swatted at kaden's snout. Travis continued to kiss him but no he started to nip away at travis's cheek, Travis only giggled away. I and mike stood up.

"get guys mike and I have to go, we have to get ready for prom." I said as I pulled mike into a hug, he fought me but I threw him over my shoulder and he continued to playfully kick me. I walked out the door with a 164 pound tiger draped over my shoulder. I grabbed my shoes and walked out the door, I walked out to my car and drove off after throwing mike into the back seat. I drove down the road and I turned the radio and my and mike's favorite song came on, set fire to the rain by Adele.

"I set fire...to the rain" mike sang aloud, he hadn't learned the lyrics so that was all he knew, the drive was short and sweet and we were both in the driveway in a matter of seconds. I got out of the car and walked around to where mike was sitting, when I opened the door he jumped into my arms and I carried him inside. I walked up to his room and we both got dressed.

I drove to the high school and drove around in the parking lot for a parking spot for about 15 minutes. I finally found one and parked in it, we both walked inside hand in hand. Drake, Avery, Jessie, kaden, Adam, and Travis were all waiting for us in the front, Adam walked up and opened the door like a gentlemen and we all walked in to the dark room that was usually our gym but the decor was changed to display a wonderful flutter of color and sparkles, I looked around for Rebecca and I saw her. Her dress as white as snow and covered in sparkles, a thin veil covered her face to show only a small bit of her actual face, she was beautiful. Mike helped her pick out her dress and she said she didn't look very good but she was being modest. The prom was only a couple hours long so we just danced and ate a little bit but Avery and drake along with Travis and kaden were cutting a rig out there, Travis was a very talented dancer. The prom was nearing the end and all that was left was the crowning, the votes had been tallied and the principle was up on the stage with a microphone.

"students, it is the time you all have been waiting for. The crowning of the prom king and queen, today we have got a record breaking amount of votes, the king of the Tyson high 2012 prom is... Justin kale." the principle said into the microphone and the room broke in to a frenzy of cheers, I walked up and the principle placed a crown on my head. He walked back to the microphone.

"okay, now that we have a king we need a queen and with a total of 348 votes the queen of the prom is..." the principle froze and signaled me to come over, the card read Avery smith.

" the queen of the Tyson high 2012 prom is... Avery smith" I said lightly into the mic. Avery walked up and took the crown and placed it on his head, with tears in his eyes he walked up to the mic and said. "eat your heart out Kate Hudson." the room broke into a full on riot with cheers. The principle took the microphone.

"well, it is time for the king and queen to dance." he said as he ushered us to the dance floor, I took Avery's hand in mine and I started to dance. The song was wrote for a samba so I did samba, Avery stepped on my toes a couple of times but it didn't matter. Drake wasn't mad he was actually cheering us on, I spun Avery around and ended the dance and he was elated, he was smiling so much I think his face got stuck like that. I gave a bow and he did a cute little curtesy, the prom ended and we all left, I drove back to the house and carried mike into my bedroom.

"so how did you like prom?" I asked him as I kissed him on the lips and slipped my tongue into his mouth.
