Life Changing Opportunity: Chapter 1: An Offer Is made
#1 of Life Changing Opportunity
Ok. It's been a while since I brought you something new, other than my usual venting stuff. This is a story that was inspired by my new beau, Kendo Kawabata. I'm trying to expand my horizons when it comes to fiction. At some point, maybe I'll have a major sex scene, but right now, I want to focus on character and story development. If you like it so far, please comment. Flames will be ignored.
Life Changing Opportunity
Chapter 1: An Offer is made
Nhir Urson waited in the lobby of a very nondescript building for someone to acknowledge him. Alone in his thoughts, his mind was spinning. In his hands was a single piece of paper:

Leo
That email was two months ago and in that time; things in Nhir's life had gone downhill quickly. He had begun to lose his mind and his health was failing. His work life had suffered to the point that his employer had fired him for poor performance. The email seemed to promise him a major change in his life. The most nagging question in his mind was why?
He was an ordinary Kodiak bear. Out of his family, he was the oldest. His sibling had a far better life than he had. His brother was a successful businessman, supporter of the arts, and well-liked. By comparison, he was always lonely, barely living from paycheck to paycheck, college dropout, and almost estranged from his family. One failed relationship after another had turned him into a practical hermit. About the only time he left his small apartment was to get food, perform laundry, and occasionally go visit the local library or park to gather his thoughts and meditate.
Why in the hell out of everyone in his family would this Killara Leo choose him? Looking around the waiting room it was sparsely furnished. There was a small receptionist desk, but nobody was there. Looking up at the ceiling, he noted a small black globe hanging up above the receptionist's desk. He assumed that considering the strange nature of this place it was probably a camera.
Killara Leo stood in a small surveillance room, watching the waiting room and smiling. Turning around and looking at himself in the mirror, he smiled. The suit he had recently purchased really showed off his figure. A mix of muscular and a little bit of flab, he chuckled and turned back to the chair and the small naked otter sitting in it, running his fingers across the keys.
"Well my pet, it appears that the subject is here a little early. Shall we make him feel comfortable? Get dressed and go offer our guest a beverage," the lion said, almost grunting. He leaned down and licked the tip of Simo's nose. "Be good and you might get some playtime later."
Simo squeaked and smiled at his master. Getting up out of the chair and walking over to a small wardrobe, he pulled out a similar suit out of it and began to dress himself. Finishing up with a light colored tie and placing socks and shoes on his feet, he stopped at the mirror to check everything, and walked out the door and headed towards the lobby.
Nhir looked at his watch; it read 9:33am. He was starting to get worried at maybe he made a mistake coming. Just he was about to get up and leave, he heard a noise and looked at the wall as a portion of it opened inward and a well-dressed otter emerged.
"Nhir Urson, I am Simo, assistant to Killara Leo," Simo said, smiling and holding out his hand for Nhir to shake. "He has asked you here to propose an offer. If you accept, you will be well taken care of for the rest of your natural life. You will be asked to live here with him and work for him. You will be paid a handsome salary, as well as many other benefits which will be explained at a later date. Before we go any further, may I offer you a beverage?"
He thought Simo was rather cute. He gulped slightly as a felt a stirring in his loins. "Thank you Simo for welcoming me. Honestly, I was about to leave. I was almost afraid I made a mistake," Nhir replied. "But since you are so welcoming, I will stay and hear Mr. Leo's offer. I would really like a mug of tea maybe that will ease my nervousness.
Simo smiled and his head dropped slightly. He removed a small flat object from his suit pocket about the size and thickness of a credit card. A low whirring sound was heard and a small table rose up from the floor in addition to two small stools, one as big for Nhir and another for Simo. In the middle of the table, a hole opened and a small tray containing a teapot, two teacups with saucers, cream, sugar, spoons, and an assortment of tea sandwiches appeared. Simo stood up, placed a teacup in front of Nhir and poured the tea into the cup. Once the cup was almost full, he stopped and after pouring a cup for himself, he placed the teapot down.
Smiling, Simo pointed to the plate of sandwiches. "Please have one. I assure you they are quite good. Although I cannot take credit for making them, as it was Killara who made them. He is quite talented in the kitchen if I may say so," Simo stated smiling as he daintily picked up one of the sandwiches and placed it on a small plate.
Nhir picked up one of the sandwiches in his paw and after sniffing it, took a small bit of it. It was delicious and he almost moaned in delight. Placing the rest of the sandwich down on his plate he smiled at Simo. He picked up a small spoon and added a small bit of sugar and cream to his cup and took a sip. "The sandwiches are wonderful. I see what you mean. Also this tea is wonderful, is this a blend," he asked.
Simo smiled. "When you meet Killara, be sure to tell him so. The tea is actually a custom blend. It's quite expensive to acquire, so be assured, you are quite important to Killara, otherwise he would not have had me send you the email in the first place," Simo stated, in between sips of his tea.
Nhir dropped his head and placed his hands on the table. He looked at Simo with sad eyes and turned to face the wall. Simo looked back at the Nhir's actions. He sighed and pulled a small phone out of his pocket. Going to the area of the open wall, he briefly stepped inside and pressed a button on the phone.
"I see what happened there. No I do not fault you for that," Simo heard from the voice on the other end. "Clean up and bring him inside. Have him wait in the lounge. Use my usual relaxation techniques, button 75 on your remote. I will get ready and be there in ten minutes. Do not tell him anymore than is necessary."
Simo replied with just a simple yes and placed the phone back in his pocket. He emerged from the wall and walked over to face Nhir. Placing a small paw on top of Nhir's, he looked into those sad eyes.
"Killara has instructed me to bring you to meet him. He sees something in you, something special, something extraordinary that has brought you here to him. If you were not special to him, this would not have happened. That is the reason you received the email in the first place. I was the last one to receive the email, and that was almost a decade ago. I had the same trepidations you had, the same fears you now have. Please, there is a lounge with more, more comfortable surroundings. Killara has asked me to bring you there. That is where he will meet you," Simo stated rather seriously.
Nhir looked away towards the table and the wall. 'It's now or never,' he thought. Standing up, he smiled. "Simo, I accept the invitation. Please lead the way."
Simo pulled the remote from his pocket and pushed a button on it. Immediately, the table and stools began to drop back into the floor. They walked towards the open door in the wall and into a well-lit hallway. The hallway was painted in a light teal color, which Nhir commented was lovely. Simo smiled at this.
After what seemed like an eternity, but was only a minute or so, they came into a beautiful apportioned lounge area. There was a large fireplace in the middle of the room, with couches practically surrounding it. Off to one side, there was a wardrobe cabinet next to a small kitchenette with a sink and some cabinets. Simo led Nhir over to the wardrobe cabinet and stopped. Opening the door, there was a row of vertical shelves on rollers. Tapping the fourth shelf, it swung out and produced a white robe with Nhir's name embroidered on it.
Looking up at Nhir, Simo smiled, almost lustfully. "Killara had this custom tailored based upon specifications I had gathered. He spared no expense on this and would greatly appreciate it if you would wear it while awaiting his arrival. The kitchen is stocked with your favorite beverages and alcohol. Feel free to enjoy yourself, and I almost forgot-," Simo stopped, removed the remote and pressed two buttons on it. Instantly the music of one of Nhir's favorite groups filled the room.
We live in a bubble baby, a bubble's not reality; you've got to have a look outside. Nothing in a bubble is the way it's supposed to be, and when it blows you'll hit the ground.

Nhir's eyes widened, "How did you," he asked.
"From many hours of observation and careful studying. You are special and I've been following you for years, both on-line and off," a deep feline voice spoke from across the room. "Simo, you have taken too much time. I will have to deal with you later."
Simo squeaked and quickly ran out of the lounge and down the hallway, whimpering. Nhir turned around and he saw a beautiful lion standing in front of the fireplace dressed in a ruby red robe, which touched the floor. It was trimmed with royal blue and the name was embroidered in gold thread. "Nhir Urson, it is at last we finally meet. Of course, you know who I am. Here, let me help you get more comfortable."
Killara walked to where the Nhir was standing and began to remove the jacket Nhir was wearing. Unfastening the tie and pulling the shirt from Nhir's waist, Nhir squeaked a little. "Relax Nhir. I have no intention of harming you. Simo was supposed to do this earlier. I guess he lost track of time. Let me help you get more comfortable." The lion began to unbutton Nhir's shirt bottom to top, slightly humming in time with the music. Removing Nhir's shirt, he pulled the robe from the wardrobe and placed the shirt, tie and jacket on the hanger on it. Tapping the shelf, it swung back in and the wardrobe closed. Placing the robe on Nhir, he tied the strap around his waist and stepped back.
"That's much better, isn't it? Come, let us get more acquainted. Shall we have a seat," the lion asked, hand outstretched towards the couch.
Following the lion's prompt, Nhir walked over to a couch and sat down. The lion sat down next to him, but still leaving a little bit of space between him and Nhir. "I had Simo summon you here because I have admired you from afar for several years. Some might consider it stalking, but being who I am, many who know me know that I pretty much get what I desire. To put it simply, I desire you Nhir," the lion said almost growling.
Nhir turned away and began to cry. He felt the lion's paw on his shoulder. "Why did you pick me? I'm nobody special," Nhir sobbed. "Even my own family tells me that. They always compare me to my brother who is so far more important than me. You could have chosen him. You don't want me."
Removing a similar remote from his pocket, Killara tapped a few buttons and the song changed. Nhir cocked his head as he was somewhat puzzled. Killara stood in front of Nhir, knelt down and placed a paw on Nhir's knee. Looking into Nhir's eyes, Killara began to sing:
"I used to be able to do everything myself, but now I think I need a little help. Time, time is a guarantee that all will end. So maybe it's time to being to look. I look to be safe in your arms,"

"In all of Copenhagen," Nhir replied, tears in his eyes.
Killara smiled. "Sing the next line Nhir. You know it."
"I used to be able to do everything myself, but now I think I need a little help. I used to do everything I wanted on my own, but now I don't want to be alone," Nhir sung in his best voice.
Killara smiled. Leaning in, he hugged Nhir in a deep embrace for several long seconds. Releasing the embrace, he leaned down and placed a kiss onto Nhir's muzzle. Returning the kiss, Nhir moaned and pulled Killara into his arms. "No, I don't want to be alone," Nhir sang almost silently. They both fell onto the couch in each other's arms kissing, hugging and holding. Several minutes later, Killara got up and stood in front of Nhir.
"That is exactly why I chose you Nhir. I don't want to be alone. I chose you because you are exactly like me. We have been alone for so long had to be alone, doing everything ourselves and getting nothing out of it. That is what drove me to find you, and what brought you here to me. So here is my offer, stay with me, live here with me as my love, my partner, and my mate, and for the rest of your life, never have to worry about anything ever again. You will be loved, cared for, and anything you want is yours. My world is yours...if you want it," Killara said, kneeling down in front of Nhir like someone would when making a marriage proposal.
Nhir got up from the couch and took Killara's hand in his. Smiling, he leaned down and kissed Killara's nose. Reaching into Killara's robe, he removed the remote and tapped a few buttons on it. A song unfamiliar to Killara began to play. Hitting a few more buttons, Nhir forwarded the song to the brige. Standing up, his hand still in Killara's he cleared his throat just before the brige ended and in perfect pitch he sang:
And I want to wake up with the rain, falling on a tin roof. While I'm safe there in your arms. So all I ask is for you to come away with me in the night. Come away with me.

As he looked down, he could see the tears in Killara's eyes. Nhir smiled and pulled Killara towards him again. "That's your answer. I accept." He then placed the remote back into the Killara's robe.
Killara kissed him once again, this time with more passion and love behind it. Once the kiss had ended, he pulled a phone out of his pocket and tapped a button on it. "Simo, Nhir has accepted the offer. Please begin the arrangements. Also remember that you and I will discuss what happened earlier in private," Killara stated, matter-of-factly.
"You have made a wonderful decision Nhir," Killara continued. "Now that the negotiations have commenced, we need to make certain arrangements are taken care of. You don't have to worry about going back to your apartment. Several of my staff are on their way to your apartment right now to gather up items of sentimental value and bring them back here. Don't worry about your car, a new one is being ordered to your personal specifications and will be delivered tomorrow afternoon. It was purchased outright so you will not have to worry about a payment. Your computer specifications are being compiled and a new system will be here within a week."
Nhir placed a paw on his brow in disbelief. This was all happening so fast. What did he agree to?
