#11 of Master of Aura

The cliffhanger surprise ends with a surprise of Zane's own, and the spirit in the gem and Ruli get to talk and grow a little bit closer, and the spirit warms up to Ruli a bit, literally.

(Sorry, this chapter is a bit short, the next one will be much longer though)

If you desire a part in the story, either as a pokemon or trainer, please send me a message to talk about it. (I'll also do cameos of trainers and pokemon for filler chapters where they will battle Zane and Ruli and the rest of his team (Winning or losing said battle not decided in advance, but gym leaders are off limits)) I need trainers for the pokemon who can assume the new mega forms coming in Pokemon X and Y. Those pokemon themselves I've already created personality wise, and would like their trainers to match them, but if you want to nickname them we can talk about that, or also, you could suggest (Or become) one of Zane's 3 (One has been claimed recently) remaining pokemon members to fill. (As well as their nickname).

Chapter 11

As the flash of bright light faded, I lowered my arm quickly, trying to see as I called out again. "Silver!" There was then a loud crashing noise in the stadium, as if an actual thunderbolt had just blown through the roof.

Zane coughed as a cloud of dust wafted around us a moment, waving his hand around to clear the air. The dust settled after awhile, two figures slowly showing through the cloud.

"Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh..." I could hear a chanting as the echoing boom of the attack faded as well, and as the dust finally settled fully, I saw Silver standing there chanting that to himself, his eyes closed tight as he cowered there. His white body glowed yellow, sparks of electricity jumping around him constantly. Ampharos' hand was pressed tightly up against his head, as more and more volts zapped him.

And just as sudden as it had occurred, the attack stopped, the large pokemon's fist stopping its yellow glow, and Silver stopped flashing with it, though a few sparks continued to jump around him as he still chanted.

"Oh my gosh oh my gosh..." he opened his eyes as Ampharos moved her hand away, and he blinked a few times as he stood up.

"Um...that kinda tickled really...was that it?" he tilted his head at the bigger pokemon, who then jumped back in surprise.

"Wh-What?! Tickled!?" The electric type exclaimed my worry was replaced with awe and wonder. How did Silver survive that?

"What is this?!" Naru called out in similar disbelieve, "What the heck just happened? How is he still standing Ampharos? Did you hold back too much?" The big pokemon turned to her, shrugging and shaking her head.

Zane was staring at Silver, as the last of the few sparks of electricity faded away on his fur, "It's like he absorbed the attack..."

"That's exactly what he did..." Flash added in and I looked at him.

"What?" I asked, "You know what happened?"

"Silver is the child of Jolteons. All pokemon come with their own special ability, such as how your species' minds are so focused, you are immune to "Flinching". However, Eevee are special, they will inherit the special ability of their parents, as long as said parents are the same evolution, as well as gain their own later in life when they evolve, giving them two special abilities instead of just the one." Flash bowed his head at Silver, who was looking down at all his paws and trying to look at the rest of his body right then, "Silver has inherited a Jolteons' ability to absorb electric type moves and heal himself with it instead of getting injured."

"What?!" I yowled and jumped up, yelping in pain as my side split in pain but I ignored it and yelled up at Zane, knowing he didn't understand anything Flash had just said, "Zane! Silver can absorb electricity!"

"Really?" Zane looked at Silver and he grinned slowly, apparently he knew about this, but it was only now crossing his mind. "Yeah...he's the child of Jolteons..." He reached into his pockets to take out his pokedex, pointing it at Silver and it made a few beeping noises as it said.

"Eevee, the evolution pokemon. Eevee's are the only pokemon in the world to have more than three different evolution possibilities. Their unique DNA allow them to adapt to different environments, as well as inherit and keep special capabilites from their parents while acquiring their own through evolution." The pokedex said exactly the same thing Flash said, and Zane nodded at this.

"Silver's immune to electric damage because he was born to two Jolteons."

He called out to Silver then, "Silver! Headbutt!"

Silver looked back at Zane a moment, confused at first but he quickly did as he was ordered, jumping at Ampharos as she was still dumbfounded. He bashed her in the chin, making her cry out and stumble back a bit while he fell back down to the ground.

"How dare you?" She cried out in disdain, rubbing her brushed chin.

"This is ridiculous! Ampharos, stop playing and zap him already! Thunderbolt!"

The mega pokemon flashed a few times before glowing yellow, a streak of yellow lightning striking out at Silver.

He closed his eyes again and cringed as the attack hit him, covering him again in the same glowing yellowness as it zapped him, but he opened his eyes again as he realized it didn't hurt.

"Ha...haha! Hey! This is great!" He shouted as he just stood in the attack, until it ceased. His fur sparked with static for a moment before it just seemed to fade away. It was now that I noticed, that it was seeping into his fur and into his body. He really was absorbing the attacks

Ampharos jumped back again now, sweat dropping down her face, "He's absorbing my attack?! B-but...all I know is electric type moves!"

Silver grinned and he dashed forward, "Then all there is to do is bash you till you fall down!" He yowled as he jumped up and headbutted the stunned mega pokemon again, making her stumble back once more.

"Ampharos! What's wrong?!" Naru called out and her pokemon tried to explain, waving her arms around and yelling.

"He's absorbing all my attacks! I don't have anything to use against him!" She cried as Silver headbutted her again, and he kept right at it, jumping over and over and smashing his skull against her chin and head. Of course Naru did not understand her, and she continued to call out for more electric attacks, but Ampharos refused, knowing it was pointless.

He gave her one particular hard bash that sent her falling back more than just a few steps, she almost fell over backwards while trying to maintain her balance. She managed however, but she seemed weary, after dozens of headbutts, Silver was still healthy as ever, while her entire face was brushed and battered.

"Cut! Time!" Naru called out to Fredrick, who merely glared at her.

"The trainer cannot consult with their pokemon in the middle of battle, do you forfeit the fight?"

"This isn't fair!" Naru stomped her foot on the ground heavily, "My pokemon can't damage his!"

Fredrick shook his head, "It's called a strategic advantage, no rules are being broken here. If you want to talk about unfair, I'd say this "Mega Evolution" as you called it and super charging your one pokemon, when the rest of yours were fairly weak, would be the cheating example instead."

"It...It's a league rule!" She fumbled her words though, clearly lying, "Yup, challengers can't be immune!"

Fredrick raised an eyebrow, "Can you show us this rule?"

"Well...um...I can't cause um..." She stamped the ground, "Oh all right fine! There's no such rule..."

"Then are you forfeiting?" Fredrick asked again and Naru looked over at Ampharos, who looked back at her, panting and whimpering softly in pain, face brushed in multiple places.

"We Forfeit..." She sighed, and she took the gem out, holding it out to Ampharos, who flashed a moment and returned back to her normal form, before collapsing onto the ground and passing out.

Naru didn't stick around after giving Zane his badge, a yellow badge with a lightning bolt coming out of a rain cloud. She quickly vanished after giving it to him and congratulating him, not stopping as Zane called out to her to stop, she ran out of town and out of sight, leaving us all standing confused in the town.

"I wanted to ask her questions about the gem she had..." Zane reached into his pocket and took out the the gem he had himself.

"She'll be back." The voice in the gem told me, "Her pokemon has been chosen for a greater destiny. We'll see her again sometime."

I relied the message to Zane, again surprised that our connection wasn't breaking apart, and he nodded and looked down at the gem.

"Well, whoever you are in there, if what you are is like what we just saw, I hope your intentions aren't harmful..."

"Humph..." the gem huffed to me in return, "My intention is only to stop the Calamity."

"We need to get to Mount Vazuvious Zane." I told him, "It's where he wants us to go."

"Mount Vazuvious?" Zane asked, "I've never heard of it..."

Fredrick chimed in, "Vazuvious...? I know that name from somewhere...I think." He tapped his chin as he thought a moment, but he shrugged, "I can't remember though."

"It's possible the name of the mountain may have changed over the years." The gem sighed to me, and I again relied the message to Zane.

"That really is a possibility. Maybe if we use the computers at the pokemon center, we can find some info on it?"

"It's worth a shot." I nodded and reached out to hold the gem, allowing myself to break my connection to Zane and Silver so I could speak with it and only it. Zane picked me up as he did, "Let's get you something so you can hang onto that gem Ruli." He sat me on his shoulder, and then managed to put Eevee on his other, though the four legged pokemon had to do quite the balancing act to do so. I could tell Silver felt really proud of himself, and though his victory was by pure fluke, I knew that confidence would make him stronger.

"I never expected to see one of my equals so quickly on the surface..." The voice said lightly.

"Why doesn't Naru seem to be aware of the pokemon's spirit inside the gem like me and Zane are you?" I asked as I looked at the rock in my paws.

"Because you are an Aura user. That is what allows me to speak to you right now, without it, I would just be a pretty little stone with gas swirling around in it." He chuckled lightly and I actually felt a warm sensation in my paws as I held the gem. "The other mega pokemon who are trapped in those gems do not have such a way to communicate to the humans, or possibly other pokemon, holding them. That mega is lucky however, to found a trainer who had one of her descendants she could merge with."

"So that was a merge back there? That transformation?"

"Yes it was, if it wasn't for your mate's ability to absorb electric type attacks," I blushed brightly as he called Silver my mate, "Her power would have completely overwhelmed him."

I noticed we had reached the pokemon center and I hopped down from Zane's shoulder onto the tiled floor, wincing as I landed from the pain in my side still. Most of the pain was gone and healed up already, and I walked without feeling much pain. I would just need to rest for a day or so again.

Zane interrupted my conversation a moment then as he told me, "Ruli, take Silver back to our room all right? I'll gonna get some healing medicine for your wound to help with the pain at least, and get something so we can tie the gem around your neck."

I connected my mind with his for just a moment to reply, "All right Zane...Love you..." I blushed again and smiled at him brightly. He smiled back at me before walking in the other direction as me and Silver.

Silver followed me to our room, and he curled up next to me quickly as I sat with the gem silently. I rubbed his silver furred mane with my paw lightly as I murred to myself, and I heard him murring back.

I returned my focus to the gem, keeping my paw rubbing Silver's shoulders and back through his fur as I asked, "What is the merge again, you told me once, but we were kind of arguing back then."

"Just like mega Ampharos," he began, "all of us mega pokemon can "merge" our spirit energy together with a close likeness to our own self. You saw how she changed after the merge, that appearance was what mega Ampharos looked like all those centuries ago, but at the same time, it wasn't completely her. The personality was off, she never lost her cool the way she did back there."

"So what is your "close likeness"? Is it my evolved form?"

"Yes, your evolved form, Lucario. Rather, you'll still be called Ruli, but I've become okay with that." I smiled lightly at the acceptance, "Anyways, your evolved form is the form closest to my own likeness, and can handle my power and the transformation."

"How do I evolve?"

"Normally, back when I had a body of my own, our species lived in the mountains, where the terrain and challenging environment would push you to your limits and force you to grow and evolve. However, you are growing strong quickly traveling with Zane as well, and the battles against tough opponents are rapidly causing you to develop. Surely you've noticed you feel stronger, and your battle moves come more naturally."

"I have noticed that..." I remembered all the Force Palms I had planted on the Menectric's face during the battle. I didn't even really need to purpose focus to use the move anymore, it just happened on its own when I wanted it to.

"You're close to evolving, I can feel it. You just need that last little push to reach that final bit and push the change."

"Yeah, I'll try. I want to help you." I told him and smiled.

"And I wouldn't mind helping you through your battles, but my power is still limited as I am. You can't use a mega form often and for very long."

"That makes sense." I nodded.

It was right then that Zane entered the room, and mine and the spirit's attention was drawn to the chain he was carrying, along with what looked like a small round snap on of some kind.

"Here Ruli, this should work. Here, we'll just slip this part around your neck like this."

I held my head up as he slung the chain like collar around my neck, it hung loose enough to not choke though, which was nice.

"I got a bigger one in my backpack for when you evolve someday." Zane grinned at me, "Gotta stay prepared." He chuckled and patted my head a moment, making me murr softly. Silver had apparently fallen fast asleep beside me on the bed, unmoving as Zane gave me the other round object. He picked up the gem and he gently pushed it down and snapped it into place. He picked up the new piece and connected to a hook on my collar.

"There we go." Zane smiled and I looked down at the gem. It laid on my chest, just within my field of vision as I looked down at it. I felt the gem warm my chest and I thought I heard the spirit inside make a humming noise.

"Wait..." I blinked and giggled, "Are you...murring?"

"Wha- N-no! of course not!" The gem said and I felt my connection to him break as he retreated farther into the gem, the warm sensation fading as he did.

I giggled and looked up at Zane, wagging my tail and smiling as he smiled back down at me and leaned over me to kiss my head lightly.

"I love you too by the way Ruli...we did amazing today, you get some rest. I'll tend to your wound real fast."

I nodded and laid back slowly onto the bed, keeping my left arm up above my head so Zane could get at the still nasty looking bite marks as he took a small bottle and began to liberally spray it across the wound.

It stung slightly, but the stinging meant it was working, and soon I felt my side become numbed from the pain which would allow me to heal without having to feel disabled.

"I wish there had been something like this when I had broken my arms..." I sighed softly as I started to doze.

Zane chuckled as he patted my chest with his hand as he finished, "There was, they gave you quite a bit, but like Lucario told you before, human medicine can only do so much."

I nodded and sighed softly, "I'm getting stronger Zane...the gem thinks I'm close to evolving, I just need that one last little push."

"Yeah I've noticed it too. I think Silver got a lot of confidence today too. Oh! We're going through the mountains tomorrow to get to the next town, it's called Gracel Town."

"Through mountains?" I looked at him, recalling what the spirit had said about mountains being my natural habitat. "How long will be going through them?"

"Fredrick thinks it'll take us at lest three days, but there's a safe man-made path through the mountains we can follow. We should be fine. So get some sleep now all right?"

I laid my head back down and relaxed, "All right Zane, see you in the morning." I closed my eyes and held the gem with one paw against my chest as I felt Zane leave the bed and he eventually crawled into the bed across the room from me and Silver. I heard him wrestle out of his own clothes before he settled down and turned the lights off.

Just as I was about to drift off into dreams, I felt my connection to the gem reform as he returned, and it began to glow in the dark and warm my chest slightly, making me smile.
