Life in Yiggow Chapter 8
Chapter 8
After Mrs. Wingcock's class was over, the furs Douglas and Berkeley went on to their other classes around Yiggow University. Once it was two a clock the wolf and the lizard made their way to Sociology History class, taught by none other than the great Dr. Wolfington.
Along with Douglas and Berkeley, both the raccoon Cymaenie and their bastard acquaintance Nash the fox had this class together. Cymaenie, Douglas and Berkeley, all showed a deep interest in the class. While the sly fox Nash found ways to make trouble in the class.
Class was already in progress, both Douglas and Berkeley sat next to each other in the class. While Cymaenie sat in the row above them and Nash sat in the farther most back corner away from them.
Dr. Wolfington taught history and sociology for his sheer love of it, but not only that, it was his keen eye for detail and his hands on experience in the Northern Borders itself that led Dr. Wolfington to be one of the most prestigious professors in all of Yiggow University.
Dr. Wolfington's prize students were the wolf, the lizard, and the raccoon. He respected Douglas, Berkeley, and Cymaenie's eye for detail. According to Dr. Wolfington they were the best students in all of the university.
Dr. Wolfington was a wolf fur in his mid thirties, he was complete hunk to all the female furs in the school. His gray fur was so soft and silky looking that regardless of who you were you would just want to go up and hug him.
His red eyes were a symbol of pride, his smile was absolutely captivating, with the whitest most perfect teeth known to any fur. His mane went down to his upper back which with that type of hairstyle many other furs mistake him for a seventies hippie.
Dr. Wolfington was always dressed in a shirt and tie trying to always look as classy as possible. He was also very tall at least 6'11, his stature made him godlike. In class he was talking about free right and choice.
"...Freedom and choice are chosen by everyone freely and exactly, the only problem that we as furs face is that we have to understand our choices, which I say to you is no easy feat."
Dr. Wolfington strides around the looking at all the fur students intently.
"Now!" said Dr. Wolfington clapping his hands together, "Who can honestly tell me that since the day they were born they've understood all the choices that they have made?"
Cymaenie raises his paw with a grin "I think I can understand all the choices that I've made, sir."
Dr. Wolfington looks over at the raccoon with a smile. "So Mr. Darkstone, can you name then the first time...when you were a baby now,...the first choice you made?"
"Yes!"
"Well then let's hear it!"
"Let's seen now," said Cymaenie contemplating his thoughts, "The very first time I made a choice when I was a baby was...when I decided whether to go pee with my number two in my diaper or to burp when my parents are feeding me or just puke on them."
Dr. Wolfington giggles to himself at the comments that were made by Cymaenie. "Well, Mr. Darkstone that is an amazing theory that has been made by you! But I can do you one better, I can remember the time when I was just furry wolf sperm and I made the choice to be the first one in my mother's Uvula!" The class laughs giggles, and snickers at the comments by Dr. Wolfington. He then raises his hands to the class to quite them. "But seriously, who can tell me a true reason of why these things occur?"
Berkeley raises his hand, Dr. Wolfington points his paw at the lizard. "Yes Mr. Stark I suppose you have some good insight on why we make choices?"
"Yes, I believe that we make choices because they help us understand ourselves and why we make those decisions for that particular cause."
"Very good my fine lizard friend, that is a very good description of why we make choices." smiled Dr. Wolfington .
As everyone showed an impression with Berkeley about his question of making choices, Nash showed disdain for his fellow class fur and then scoffed. "Oh come on!" blurted out the fox, "Are you telling me you all actually consider that crap!"
"Oh god!" groaned Berkeley as he started rubbing his temple with his lizard hand.
Douglas stares at his fox cousin, with menacing eyes, "There goes Mr. Nash having the final word."
Dr. Wolfington looks up at the fox with a little smirk. "So I see you think differently Mr. Nash. What would be your reason of why choices exist?"
"I think we make choices for the sake of not making a choice."
"Come again?"
"I would say we make choices for an excuse to have them. There always doesn't have to be a reason for them." Nash looks over at a nerdy squirrel and gives him a shake. "Say if I was to hit Wendell here I would hit him for the sake of it and to also make sure that Wendell knows his place in the world."
Dr. Wolfington rubs the back of his wolfs bane looking confused. "So what are you saying Mr. Nash?"
"I'm saying that choice is just a clever word for the usage of power." said Nash with a smirk.
"So, you think choices are only about power?"
"Well, when some one like me comes from a wealthy family and who has lived in the Southern Borders all his life," said the sly fox with a shrug, "you expect them to be very talented and powerful."
"And also boorish, foolish, ignorant and lavish jackass!" blurted in Cymaenie.
"You got a problem with me Darkstone?!" screamed back Nash.
Cymaenie turned his cool yellow eyes toward Nash, but only glancing at his fox nemesis. "As a matter of fact I do and it's about how you pampy rich boys get everything handed to you on a silver platter and just complain after you get everything."
The fox stood up and pointed a finger at Cymaenie menacingly, "Alright coon boy, right here right now lets go!"
Cymaenie stands up with his villainous fox foe and prepares to pounce on him with his vast quick reflexes. Then Dr. Wolfington's eyes turn red hot and he screams out. "That is enough out of both of you! Every time you both are in this class someone has to start something with the other!" Dr. Wolfington looks both furs over intently, "If I have to keep reminding you both about your behavior I will have the two of you here at four o'clock with me at the end of the day."
Dr. Wolfington turns his attention to Nash, "You Mr. Nash will get much worse for these outburst since you are the aggressor and all the students have to fend against you. So for your second punishment if this continues will be a letter written from the dean upon my request, sending a letter of behavior home to your family."
The fox looked astonished, "You can't do that, that's only for the most of extreme cases!"
"This is turning into a most extreme case, Mr. Nash." Dr. Wolfington gestures to all the students in the room. "Just because you come from a rich fox family that is well established doesn't mean you can flaunt it all around the other students and make you think you are better than them." Dr. Wolfington bores a hole right into Nash as the fox stares right back. "Do I make myself clear?"
"Quite clear sir." gulped Nash.
"Good" said Dr. Wolfington with a smile, "Now what Mr. Nash said about the rich can be true with some high class furs. They do believe that their choices come from their power that they hold." Then he points a paw over at Cymaenie, "But as Mr. Darkstone pointed out some rich people get blinded by their choices and it effects them greatly."
Dr. Wolfington walks right in front of the student rows looking them up and down. "Now why don't we have an example of this." Dr. Wolfington looks among the students and a gleam passes his eye when he spots Berkeley. "Ah, Mr. Stark would you like to help me with this presentation?"
The lizard smiles as his name was called. "Why Dr. Wolfington it will be my pleasure to help you in this great endeavor!"
"Quit trying to suck up to me Mr. Stark. I don't need another lapping lizard around my heels with a bizarre crush!" Dr. Wolfington spots the two friends of Berkeley, Cymaenie and Douglas. "Now if I can get the help of a raccoon named Mr. Darkstone, and a wolf called Wonder that would be great!"
Both Douglas and Cymaenie smirk as they stand up. "Now what I want you boys to do is go over to Mr. Stark" Both the raccoon and the wolf go and walk over to Berkeley, "Now, I want the two of you to grab Mr. Stark tightly." said Dr. Wolfington with a grin.
Looking at both Douglas and Cymaenie, Berkeley looks worried about is current predicament afraid that the worst might happen. "Actually sir," said Berkeley looking at both the wolf and the raccoon holding him. "I would like to send my offer to someone else please."
Dr. Wolfington's makes an evil grin, "Well, I'm afraid it's to late for that now Mr. Stark, you should've thought about that before you raised you're hand."
The wolf professor starts to laugh and Berkeley looks like he's about to wet his pants and his scales. Both Cymaenie and Douglas giggle along with the Professor. "I've got a bad feeling about this!"
"Now what I want you two to do, said Dr. Wolfington giving out the instructions, "is throw Mr. Stark at me as fast as you can and I will make the choice of weather or not to catch Mr. Stark before he goes into the black board!"
"What?" Berkeley had the look of shock shown throughout all the features on his lizard face.
Dr. Wolfington raised his paw into the air, "Are you ready Mr. Darkstone?"
"Yes sir!" said Cymaenie with absolute clarity.
"Are you ready Mr. Wonder?"
"Most certainly sir!" responded Douglas with just as much clarity.
Dr. Wolfington points right at the frightened lizard, "Are you ready Mr. Stark?"
"As ready as I'll ever--be..." responded Berkeley shakily.
"Alrightyo!" Dr. Wolfington clapped his paws together, "On three, here we go! One, two, THREE!"
On three the raccoon and the wolf threw Berkeley into the air. Berkeley went soaring over the students heading straight for Dr. Wolfington who was poised to do nothing as Berkeley soared closer to the wolf teacher he shut his eyes getting ready to hit the black board.
At the last possible second Dr. Wolfington's wolf arm stretched out and caught the lizard before he went right into the black board. Berkeley opened his eyes to see the professor looking down back at him. "Now that is the choice I made. And as you can see students if I didn't catch young Mr. Stark here he would have been in for a world of hurt. So in my view I made the right choice." Dr. Wolfington exhales deeply "That is what choice is all about!"
Berkeley looks out towards the window at the end of the classroom and spots Mrs. Wingcock having lunch on the bench just outside the class room. "Hey it's Mrs. Wingcock!"
The students and Dr. Wolfington look out to see Mrs. Wingcock sitting outside on the bench having lunch.
"Hey students I have an interesting idea!" stated Dr. Wolfington, "Why don't we open up that window where Mrs. Wingcock is sitting and I am going to choose to throw Mr. Stark here at Mrs. Wingcock as a joke!" The class starts muttering in agreement, "Are you up for that?" Dr. Wolfington asked Berkeley.
"As ready as I'll ever be!" exclaimed the lizard.
"Alright my furs, open up the window in the back behind Mrs. Wingcock." instructed Dr. Wolfington.
The furs slowly opened up the window behind the toucan and the wolf teacher got Berkeley in great throwing position. "On the count of three!" "One, two, three!"
Dr. Wolfington threw the lizard back towards Mrs. Wingcock, Berkeley watched an amazement once again as he soared above the furs and went straight for the toucan. "Yo, Mrs. Wingcock!" screamed Berkeley.
Mrs. Wingcock turns around to see a lizard flying towards her. With no time to react Mrs. Wingcock just screams as the lizard flies toward her and smacks right onto her, sending Mrs. Wingcock and her lunch flying back!
"Ow! JAMES!!!!!!!!"
"I know I'm going to have to speak to the college committee once again for this type of behavior, but hey it was so worth it!" said Dr. Wolfington with an evil wolf smile.
