Iron Dragon Chapters 8-9
#4 of Iron Dragon
Kathrin ran into the women's bathroom and locked herself in a stall. What the hell was she thinking? She knew how much they loved each other. She had not only crossed a line but hurdled right over it. Jenny had waited for years for Alice to finally notice her, she had even tried to help Jenny. With one stupid sentence she ruined that friendship over jealousy for something that wasn't there.
Alice was in a tight spot, his fate seemed to be held in the words she put down on paper. A fine day for Jenny and him to be missing... with a few key strokes she accessed Jenny's hard drive and pulled up the untitled document again skipping to her self contained argument. Jenny all ready thought his fate was going to be out of their hands. But she now knew that was not set in stone, she had an idea and quickly called her mom for a little help.
Jenny really had no idea what she was doing, she had signed out a ¾ ton truck from the vehicle pool, thanked god it was an automatic and quickly left the grounds. She really didn't give any reason for the truck or for him coming with her. He was agreeable as always and did not ask any questions. She needed some more answers, and she needed to believe. Not really paying attention or having a plan for once paid off; as she parked the truck in front of a way out of the way coffee shop. The one her and Alice had their first official date at.
Nodrog followed her into the small shop. He was curious about what the cat girl was up too. She ordered them both something to drink and they sat at the table farthest away from the door. Whatever she had ordered them, it tasted all right. He knew something was bothering her and sat quietly while she got her thoughts in order.
"First off, I am sorry for treating you the way we have. We have always followed our orders to the letter and we didn't give you any more thought then the dead people we usually work with. We aren't used to having a roommate, so I am sorry we haven't behaved ourselves and kept our naughty bits covered up." Jenny had to work up the courage to actually say something.
"That was why I made no protest about them. I did not want either of you getting in trouble. However now that they are done, anything else, will require my consent. As for the other, don't worry because I certainly don't mind." Nodrog smiled coyly as she turned red, they both were cute when they were embarrassed.
"About the tests, there is a small problem." Jenny sipped her coffee and thought about how to say what she wanted. He chuckled lightly, maybe he all ready figured as much.
"And they would be?" Nodrog asked.
"There is no way you can be alive. You have no DNA; your blood is a toxic sludge; it carries no nutrients or enzymes; heck your heart seems to be made of heavy metal that gives off some radiation... Thankfully you have enough lead in you and it's a low enough level we don't have to worry about it. Once we removed the scale from your arm it was no longer pliable like it was when still part of you. And yet..." Jenny couldn't think of what to say next.
"And yet, here we sit drinking coffee and having a conversation. I have been a part of your life for two weeks now. What is really on your mind?" Nodrog asked and waited.
She wasn't really ready for that part. "I am afraid, we really have pulled you from one nightmare only to be put in another one. I think we might have damned you and taken your life from you." Jenny's ears lay flat and she lowered her head.
"Your afraid that once again my own fate is in someone else's hands. Times have changed and I serve no one, and I have not shown my hand yet." Nodrog appreciated Jenny's concern, it had been a long time since anyone had given him any.
Jenny didn't want to think about what kind of ace up the sleeve he still had hidden. "What was her name?"
"Elisabeth." Nodrog thought that was an interesting question.
"It can't be." Jenny looked up at him Christ the odds of that in six hundred years. "That is mine and Alice's middle name." Jenny couldn't believe it.
"I know. Six centuries of separation and yet here we are." Nodrog said.
"How do you know that?" Jenny asked as she fought back tears and being sick again.
"It is printed on your name tags." Nodrog chuckled.
"Oh, yeah. I know its personal, but what happened to her?" Jenny asked.
"She took her own life. No one knew why." Nodrog finished off the last of his coffee.
"That's why no one could save her... I am so sorry..." Jenny said as a single tear ran down her cheek.
"No one had found out till morning, when it was too late." Nodrog looked her over. Jenny was the first person he had ever told about her. In all that time no one had ever asked him about his personal life.
She reached out and grabbed his hand. "And now you have saved us twice, maybe the world is giving you a chance at redemption."
He had never thought of it that way. "Maybe it finally has." Jenny gave his hand a squeeze.
"I think it has. A simple thank you seems a little empty. I really can't find a way to express my gratitude, twice now you saved the only person I love." Jenny leaned back and held her coffee close.
"I all ready know, I can see it in your eyes every time you look at her. I can hear it in the way you talk to her. I need no more thanks then that." Nodrog truly did not need any more than that.
She looked down at her empty cup. They had agreed to not be overly affectionate when at work or out in public. For some reason they had let their guard down in front of him and acted like they usually do in private. The silly; the naughty and everything in between. They really didn't hide anything from him. Why were her feelings so confused?
He hoped she would not ask anymore, one missed love and saving them, did little to atone for the number of people's lives he had ended. It was not the first time someone thanked him for saving one by killing another. As cold as it sounded, you can't save both sides when they each demanded death.
"If it comes down to it... will you kill for your freedom?" Jenny asked.
"Yes." Nodrog felt she deserved the truth in that regard.
"Then how did you end up chained in a hidden dungeon?" Jenny asked and looked up at him.
"By that time, I was no longer an equal or even a soldier. I was a slave and a monster. Enough time had passed they were afraid that I might turn and took action before." Nodrog was a little concerned where this conversation was headed.
"Why didn't you escape?" Jenny asked.
"Because that would have proven them right." Nodrog said.
"So to prove them wrong, you didn't resist. Was it worth giving up that much time just to prove someone wrong?" Jenny's ears and tail gave away her curiosity.
"Hard to say now that so much time has passed. Judging from the history I have lightly learned, there were people far worse then I." Nodrog said.
"Yes there have been, still to have lost four hundred years..." Jenny now wondered how old he was. If he lost her six hundred years ago, he would have to be older than that.
"I wouldn't say they were lost, it would not be any difference from you sleeping at night." Nodrog thought she was cute when she was puzzled too.
"I would, so then how old are you counting those years?" Jenny asked.
"Counting them, almost two thousand." Nodrog said.
"And only one love, that is sad. How have you stayed sane all that time?" Jenny asked.
"Only the first two centuries are hard, you simply get used to it, or go mad. I would say roughly half of immortals take their own life; around the second or third century." Nodrog stated rather matter of factly. It was a fact, as many lived much longer than humans.
"I guess that makes sense in a morbid kind of way. How can you be immortal and still die?" Jenny asked.
"Immortality does not guaranty invulnerability." Nodrog said.
"Does that mean you can die?" Jenny asked.
"I don't know. Truthfully I have not given it much thought... However that is a strange question, coming from someone who doesn't understand how I can be alive." Nodrog had told her a lie. He never gave it any thought because he all ready knew the answer.
"Not really, most people are afraid of death. I am... Alice accepts it as a normal part of life. I don't have to understand the how or the why. Because I know that you are; the other stuff doesn't matter." Jenny thought she had began to understand the iron dragon.
"Fair enough." Nodrog said.
While Jenny and Nodrog were out, Alice's mom was on her way over with some more information. Keith in medical owed her a favor and thanks to his help she had some different results. While the finished product would not hold up to any real scrutiny, it didn't have too. Because of her track record so far, no one had any reason to scrutinize her work. It was a brilliant plan, no one would ever suspect her of manipulating information for anyone's benefit. Jenny had pointed out all ready what the simple answer was, all she needed was information that supported it.
It was shortly after one in the afternoon, when her mother knocked on the apartment door. Alice wasn't expecting her dad to be with her. Jenny had pointed out their own relationship would work, because her father was part tabby and her mom was part mouse. Apparently cats and mice got along very well. She explained in more detail what was going on and why she needed the little extra help from her mom.
"See if I have this straight; our daughter could be risking her career; to save a four hundred year old dragon that had saved her life. And not because she feels she owes him, but because she couldn't live with what might happen otherwise. Am I correct?" Her father Ron, said.
"It is considerably more complicated than that, but since you understand it that way, then yes." Her mother Lucy, said.
"I can live with that. I can't fault you for trying to do the right thing." Ron said.
"I am glad both of you understand. Wait here and I will be back in a little while." Alice gave both of her parents a hug before she left.
"Well for good or bad, at least she is going to try." Ron said.
"And here you thought that over emotional Jenny was going to be a bad influence." Lucy laughed and kissed him on the cheek.
Chapter
He enjoyed Jenny's company, she was smart, funny, pretty and madly in love with Alice. Of course he could say the same of Alice. He was given more insight into their lives as Jenny told him about Alice wining the road race, and how cute she was in her fireproof suit. He learned Jenny didn't understand why Alice liked fast cars, and that Jenny could speak three languages fluently. The only part of the job they didn't like was dealing with all the bugs and snakes that usually inhabited tombs.
Jenny was surprised to find he could also speak Russian. She managed to get him to open up a little more and learned he enjoyed classical music and could play the piano. He had been to almost every region of the world, his favorite location was a small vineyard in central Italy. The thought of him sitting on a patio drinking wine was amusing. With every little bit, she knew that he really was alive, despite what the science she liked so much said. It also was going to make it even harder for her to accept whatever cruel fate might get handed down to him.
They had a light lunch after spending a fair amount of time walking around a park. She had left her phone at home, but had grabbed the grocery list. It was boring, but it needed done and he had almost drank all of her mountain dew. Really she was just drawing out the day; they couldn't make a decision if they weren't there. It wasn't a good plan, but it would force it to be put off till Monday. Which would give them the weekend to work out a better one.
She was in a pretty good mood until she opened the door to their apartment. Scary VP; Jade and Kathrin; Lieut. Sherman; and Alice's parents were all waiting for them. It hurt her brain, why were they all here? Why were Alice's parents here? Why did the bags suddenly feel so heavy? Everyone greeted her politely as she and Nodrog set the bags down in the kitchen. Her thoughts running a hundred miles an hour in a hundred different ways.
Alice all ready knew Jenny was going to be a little confused. She walked over to her and placed her forgotten phone in her hand. She gave her a hug. "You missed a very important call, you should go to our room and listen to it." Alice gave her a quick wink.
The wink didn't help Jenny figure out what was going on. "Thanks." She excused herself and went into their room to listen. She smiled as the caller ID showed Alice was the only call she had missed and the one that left the message. She punched in her pin and listened to Alice's message. 'I will explain everything later. All you need to know right now is, we did it! Love you.' Jenny collapsed to the floor, all of her fears washed away in a flood of emotion. She wanted to jump up and down for joy, she wanted to cry, she wanted to molest Alice. The only problem was, she didn't know why. After a few deep breaths to calm her nerves and the urge to rip Alice's clothes off she went back out.
Scary VP stood up and spoke first. "I am here because after hearing your report and discussing the matter over with my constituents, we will not pursue anything further. As far as I am concerned, Nodrog, you may stay and accept a few offers, which I hope you do consider. Of course if you want, you may leave at any time." Scary VP said and shook his hand. He excused himself and left.
"Which is why I am here. I have agreed to Kathrin's request for additional help. If you want, there is a spot open for you." Jade said.
"I am putting together a specialized team, there is a spot on it if you want it. It is more of a short notice short assignment, and actually that training would qualify you for field security. Which if I am not mistaken would be a position Kathrin could use." Sherman said.
"Actually that would work out very well. Its late so why don't we leave you all alone and pick up the matter next week." Kathrin said, her and Jade said goodbye and left.
"I knew there was another reason I liked you. I will get in touch with you Monday." Nodrog said and shook hands with Sherman.
"Have a good weekend. Plus I know a place that is a little more damage resistant for work outs." Sherman said and left.
Jenny was for a change left mainly speechless. Not only was he not going to be a guinea pig forever, he was offered a job. She just sat there she really couldn't say anything.
"So, we finally get to meet the man who protected our daughter and daughter in-law." Ron shook his hand. He ignored his daughter's embarrassment. "I am Alice's father, Ron."
"Pleased to meet you as well, sir." Nodrog said chuckling at Alice's outburst.
"I hope they have not caused you too much trouble. I am Lucy." The three laughed at the two girl's outburst.
"No trouble at all." Nodrog now knew were Alice got her good looks from.
Lucy asked him another question in ancient Egyptian, and was rather delighted he answered her in the same language. She could ask all kinds of things and they wouldn't know.
"Do either of you know what they are saying?" Ron asked. The girls shook their head no.
"That's not really fair, he could tell her anything and we won't know." Jenny's suspicions was further proven when they both looked at her then laughed.
"Actually I would be more worried about what your mother is telling him." Ron said as the dragon and his wife shared another private laugh.
"Oh god, you better not be." Alice said. "MOM!"
"I guess we had better stop. We will have to talk about the ancient world another time. Hearing about what it was like will be interesting. Especial to see how it matches up with the written history." Lucy said. Alice took being teased like her father.
"Any time, ma'am." Nodrog said and just to egg the two girls on a little. "So they really did do that?"
Lucy laughed at his sense of humor. "Of course, oh, the stories I could tell you."
Both girls cried "Mom!" And pouted as they laughed again.
"Well dear, we should get going. It was good to see the three of you, don't be strangers." Lucy turned to Nodrog and asked him to look after the girls in Egyptian. She knew he had twice all ready, in their line of work one could not be too careful.
Nodrog replied that he would do his best to continue looking after them. He reminded her if not for her daughter, he might still be buried in that castle.
Jenny gave them each a hug after Alice had. She wished her parents understood as well as Alice's parents. As long as Alice was happy, they were happy for her. They accepted her no questions asked; because they had seen how much Alice meant to her even before Alice had. She had told them before she had told Alice, it wasn't as hard as she thought it would be.
With their guests all gone Jenny couldn't hold it in any longer. She pushed Alice backwards over the arm of the couch, pinning her down and kissed her. Alice didn't even resist which took a little fun out of it, but not much.
He shrugged it off and went into the kitchen and opened a can of beer. Jenny let Alice sit back up as he sat down on the far end of the couch. "I think you owe us a little explanation."
"No the whole explanation." Jenny said.
"First food, then I will tell you everything." Alice and Jenny both got something small to eat and Alice told them how she creatively edited and had some things completely falsified to work out the report so it didn't actually say anything. With her mom's help she had a few obscure documents to back up her obscure facts, which really didn't say anything.
"So you spent the better part of an hour, not saying anything." Nodrog was intrigued by her rather round about way of thinking.
"To an extent, I just made the facts say what I wanted them to say. The reason they are not pushing for more testing is because I made you more dangerous in sample then you are whole." Alice said.
"Of course, you used his own toxicity as his defense. No one would want to work with his blood because it is toxic and acidic; add in a little low level radiation and people freak out. There are days I can't tell which I love you for more, your brains or your hot little body." Jenny leaned over to kiss her again.
Alice squeaked as she was quickly pulled away by him. She was almost on his lap, he gave her a light squeeze and a kiss on the top of her head causing her to blush.
"You are the first person to have defended me in a long time. Thank you." Nodrog said.
Jenny crawled over to them and put her arms around his neck and Alice. "And you have protected us without fail."
After six centuries he thought his heart might finally be mending. Alice defended him, Jenny believed in him and Sherman respected him. Maybe the world was giving him a chance at redemption. It might take a while to make up for his sins, but time was something he would always have. Alice and Jenny went to bed, he found himself wanting them to stay. He just couldn't find the words...
Jenny stripped out of her clothes and put on her over sized yellow happy face t-shirt. "So how did you come up with that idea.?" She asked as Alice stripped.
"I didn't come up with it, you did." Alice put her pink tank top on.
"No I didn't..." Jenny bit her lip. Alice wasn't even wearing panties today, it always turned her on when she did stuff like that. Though Alice never understood why her being commando for a day turned Jenny on.
"You forgot to turn off your computer, and I snooped around." Alice said as Jenny sat cross legged on her side of the bed.
"You naughty little mouse... but how did..." Alice interrupted her by placing a finger on Jenny's lips.
"The two pages of your own argument on that untitled document." Alice let out a sigh as Jenny licked and sucked on her finger.
She was a bit embarrassed that Alice had found her early morning ramblings. "I don't know what I was thinking at the time."
Alice gently pushed Jenny onto her back; stood above her on her hands and knees. Her hair falling down covering both of their faces. With their lips almost touching Jenny moaned as Alice began using her all ready wet finger. "That doesn't matter now... you gave me the idea..." Alice whispered softly. She slowly curled her finger into Jenny, no teasing at all just right to that spot. Their lips barely touched as she whispered again. "I love you."
Jenny softly moaned at those three words and from Alice's touch. After the ups and the downs from the day she couldn't move. She usually never felt helpless, today she had felt of little use to either of them. She had ran from the problem, not solved it. Alice's light kisses and her gentle touch was making quick work of removing her insecurities.
Alice knew the last few days had been stressful on Jenny. She knew Jenny had been upset because she couldn't protect her from Dave; and that she was worried about the iron dragon. Their positions had been reversed, Alice couldn't get Jenny to see she only wanted her friend's love. Jenny didn't need to do anything more than love her. Alice kissed Jenny once more then lowered her head and very lightly kissed one of her nipples through her shirt.
Jenny clawed at the sheets and arched her back as Alice's tongue and lips joined with her fingers. She couldn't help but push her hips up to meet Alice's mouth as she lingered on the edge of going over. "Alice... I love you..." Jenny managed to moan out as she climaxed. She tried to pull away and return the pleasure, but she couldn't as Alice slowly built her up to a second.
Alice took pleasure in taking away Jenny's resistance. Jenny always made her feel wonderful when they were together. She always tried to make her feel the same or better. It might not be fair to take advantage of Jenny's current weakness, but she would take any advantage she could to give back as much affection and love as she got. Now she needed a little as she fingered herself while Jenny twisted and moaned.
It was rather early as he heard one of them dig around in the fridge. He was a little surprised Alice drank out of the milk bottle instead of using a glass. Her hair was a mess and she was wearing a white bathrobe. He didn't pay much attention to the time or what she was doing up so early after a late night. She didn't give any warning and sat down on his lap. She had nothing on under her bathrobe, and didn't hide it.
Alice leaned against him and kissed him, his utter shock was cute. He had a somewhat coppery taste, not unpleasant; and also kinda tingly like a battery. She giggled as he clearly didn't know what to do. "I never properly thanked you for protecting us from Dave." She said and followed his eyes down to her now exposed privates. She place a hand under his chin pulling his mouth back to hers and gave him a second quick kiss. "Thank you."
She got up and went back into their bed room. Leaving him speechless and wondering if he was dreaming or really awake. If he wasn't made of metal he would have pinched himself to be sure. After maybe an hour they both came back out to the kitchen and made themselves breakfast. Neither of them said a word about what had happened.
