_ Episode 3 - Zip Lightning and the Vulcoon Castaway _

Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of Zip Lightning, Space Cadet Wonder Cub! "I'm the only one still on board, although I believe the others are still alive. They were sold into slavery, all outside of Starfleet space." the vulcoon explained.

"Slavery! Those beastly barbarians! We can't let this happen again Tobias. We've only just been captured, so the crew of my ship must still be on board. He have to rescue them and escape!" the fox cub rose to his feet and slammed his tiny fist in his paw.

"I suppose if we could access the khaydarin crystallizer it would be possible to divert power from the ion drive into the ship's hyperducts." Tobias pondered, rubbing his chin.

"That's genius Tobias! Then the hyperducts will overload and cause an ionized explosion throughout the whole ship!"

"But sir, an ionized explosion would only incapacitate the pirates for a few minutes. And it would incapacitate us as well!"

"Do you see any hyperducts in here Tobias? You know what they always say, the best defense is a good submatter energy cage! The plan is simple, we trick one of the pirates into taking us down to engineering. One of us distracts him while the other sets a timed divert routine on the khaydarin crystallizer. When the pirate is done with us, he'll take us back to the cell, lock us up, and boom! The hyperduct overload will knock out anyone not in a prison cell, and the power surge should be enough to knock out the energy wall long enough for us and the other prisoners to escape! "Damn goody two-ears Starfleet tail-lifters." he muttered more quietly, patrolling back down the hall to where Zip and Tobias were held. "Tobias, what do we do?!" Zip shook him frantically by the shoulders.

"There should be another escape pod on the starboard side, sir. If we hurry..."

"Then hurry!" Zip interrupted, grabbing the vulcoon by the paw and dragging him down the corridor. They ducked and dodged as more laser fire sizzled around them. The crew was beginning to wake back up and were quickly realizing what had happened. They heard a yell and a topple as Zip looked back over his shoulder. "But these escape pods have energy dampeners don't they? We can take a few hits, and we'll be out of range soon!" Zip frantically tried to mash the buttons on the console.

"Probability of survival is only 6.9 percent sir, I don't know if we'll..." A blast of phaser plasma rocked the escape pod. The electrical systems flickered and the cubs were thrown against the wall. Two more phaser blasts hit the ship. "We've lost the port side thrusters, Captain! We're spiraling out of control!"
