"The answer is water."

"That is correct." the voice replied, and the doors opened. Instead of finding ourselves immediately in the Great Hall, we found Kodey standing in a metal box about two metres by five. We looked around, but there was nothing else, just small steel walls. The roof was three metres high. Kodey was standing beside a very large lever, grinning widely as we all came in, we were looking slightly confused.

"By the way, lousy couplet." Simba said to the reindeer.

"Well, I only had an hour to come up with it." the reindeer shrugged," It was spur of the moment, and I don't have Alduin's ability with word play."

"That is true, Alduin is certainly fast with a comeback or pun."

"Why else do you think everyone wants me to shut up?" I teased Simba, as Orion squeezed in. Kodey pulled the lever down, and the box rose.

We were standing in a glass elevator, and as we rose the steel instantly slid downwards, and we were looking at the banquet hall.

It was astonishing. Kodey wasn't kidding when he said the place was wet. Three metre deep water was filling the hall. On top of the water was two lines of tables on reasonably stable pontoons, and at the far end was an even more raised dais, with the head table. There were two linking walkways from each long table pontoon, and one each to the main dais. There was also the landing from the elevator, which was solid, and consequently where all the musicians had set up their equipment.

I walked along the path to the left hand tables, and walked behind several talking groups, heading towards the main table. Silverine was not there, but I walked up there never the less, looking at the party from the dais. Gareth and Tufty were booting the ball haphazardly over the reasonably wide gap between the table, a miss and there would be swimming, or borrowing of Simba's crook to retrieve it. The walls were completely unreachable, no platforms either side except maintenance walkways to air ducts.

As I stood on the dais in front of the top table, there was a pneumatic hiss, and a trapdoor opened. Silverine ascended from the door, standing in front of his chair, and god did he look good. He was dressed as a knight, carrying full armour. Chain-mail trousers, clunky metal boots, breastplate, chain-mail top, gauntlets, leather straps holding everything in place, oh, and an eight foot halberd. Just as well I am of a confident disposition, otherwise I would have fallen backwards into the water. His wings unfolded through gaps in the chain, and he smiled.

"My feline companion, how are you?"

"Getting there, Sir Silverine. I am most impressed, where in gods name did you find that?"

"I built it myself, basing it on one of your knight movies. I couldn't get a helmet, though."

"Covering your head? That would be sacrilege, and besides, most movie knights don't wear helmets so the audience can look in awe upon their face."

He also had a ruby red cloak on, but this was stuck between his wings.

Silverine laughed at my comment.

"And what tricks do you have in that very lithe costume? You look so smooth and elegant, I want to fuck you now."

"Might be difficult, due to my stitching, and your chain-mail. This is a variant on a cat costume for a musical I did.The ears have audio amplification, the claws do work, and it's a one piece suit, devilishly difficult to get out of, but there are no loose ends. This entire suit weighs as much as my jacket."

"Alduin, charging into a Hunt without a weapon?"

"Don't count my ways out, Silverine. But if I have any left after the Hunt, I will show you my trick." the Lupogriff smiled gleefully.

"Unarmed and in a sexy outfit."

"Naked under this too. But leave it in one piece, for now." I replied, and the Lupogriff merely chuckled and nodded.

Due to my athletic life style, I had immense control over my body, and I cartwheeled off the dais onto the ramp. Draco and Val, Oh my gosh, it was a wolf in a policeman's uniform, came up towards me.

"Now, now,"Val began," I'll have to ask you to move along, kitty."

"Arrest me now, officer. Or take me home to write a report on."I pleaded, and then smiled," I like that outfit."

Val pulled at the peak of his cap, and brushed his immaculate blue suit.

"I got everything, walkie talkie, truncheon, taser, policeman's badge, I'm also a sergeant, see my stripes? But what is a lost kitten doing on my watch?"

"Being lost, officer. It needs tender and loving care, but right now I'm just looking around."

"I could give some loving care to said kitty."Valmeero smiled.

"I would certainly enjoy it if you did." I replied.

Iris and Khamsina arrived, and she had dressed up as an angel, including illusionary eagle wings.

"I told you she was touched by an angel." I nudged Draco, and the dragon turned, and rapidly made his way towards Iris.

A pretend robotic Thomas came over with a really robotic Takori, and Ryan in his US ghillie uniform, including all his weapons. I looked at the tigers and the leopard.

"I see you've got everything but the dagger, Ryan." I suggested.

"No, I got that, it's in my boot." he clarified, through his suit. If he lay down on a hill, you'd only find him if you stood on him.

Tahir walked up behind them.He was not solid, I could see right through him. He clapped heavy hands on both the tiger's shoulders.

"Boo!" he said, as they turned.

"Translucency spell, nice." Takori commented.

"Well, Felicia's dressed up as a nymph, Alex is wandering around as a priest, I thought there's nothing harmful as a ghost."

"Miaow." I hinted, and the wizened elf smiled.

"Ah, we have a kitten here." he stroked my back, and I rubbed against him in a cat like manner, purring like a thunderstorm.

"Friendly as well, rare in a kitten." Ryan Viper teased, and I hissed gently, swiping my clawed hand from a distance in mock annoyance.

"Where'd he get the claws from?" Takori asked aloud.

"Abigail made them for me." Takori gently took one of my paws to look at how well she'd made them.

"These are beautiful,Alduin."

"Thank you, Abby designed them." I crawled next to them as they walked back down the hall, and thus saw the movement in the water. With a burst of spray, a dolphin erupted from the water and landed with it's front on the planks. I gave a cry of surprise, and then a second of delight.

"Cetacean!" I shouted, making to hug and then thinking better of it. The dolphin clicked merrily.

"Silverine asked me if I wanted to be a scout, and I said it sounded interesting. So I am the first aqua scout of Central."

"Congratulations!" I smiled, and Cetacean clicked in pleasure and dived back into the water.

"Kitty will get a bath if he doesn't get out of the way."

"Kitty will sink his claws into said person who tries." I turned to find Ryan Viper grinning. Ryan Lewis was on a maintenance walkway to an air duct, sitting there and looking very shy.

I crawled underneath the table, and slunk unnoticed over to the walkway, I slipped out from under the table, and crawled onto the walkway, to the human. He looked slightly scared of the crowd.

"Miaow?" I said, and Ryan Lewis smiled.

"Hey, Alduin."

I came closer, and gently rubbed the back of my head against his legs.He shifted his legs so I could crawl over them, and kiss him gently.

"Enjoying it?"

"Not really, there's so many of them, are they all in the Hunt?"

"Not everyone, some of them will be watching the Hunted's progression, some of them enjoying sex with one another."

"Will you?"

"I will be a Hunter, I have so much fun in it. You should too."

"I'm just scared of my performance."

"No one really gives a damn unless you don't run. Just do your best."

Ryan nodded at me. I rubbed against him again, and he rubbed my back.

"You make it look so easy."

"I was nervous too." I replied,"But you'll get a cheer if you do well, and if you don't, well, you'll still get a good effort. Now, go and mingle."

"Do I have to?" the human looked at the crowd, as Landon, dressed as an artist with his artist's apron, the artist's black beret, two brushes, and a fake palette came over. Ryan shifted hurriedly, and was immediately immersed in conversation with Alecto. That was good, the fox was always a person you could talk to. Landon sat down next to me on the walkway.

"It's a dear little black cat!" the artist said gleefully," Now if you hold that pose, I'll draw it."

"Nice costume too, Landon.I'm sure we can have a painting session sometimes, and I, as the model, certainly wouldn't mind.Only problem, what do I get?"

"The portrait, and regular breaks.I'm sure we could find some time to engage in strictly artistic ventures apart from painting."

"You mean, artistic ideas with a naked model? I'll go with that, as long as I get plenty of milk."

"Milking." Landon added, smiling and looking at the suit where my unerect cock was covered.

"That too." I purred.

The usual sexual jokes were quite normal, and I heard definite references from one of the elven females about Valmeero, along the lines of 'bring the truncheon'.We were in the thick of role playing our characters, and the sexual cracks and roleplay together made for some pretty funny stuff. The Hunted were not involved in this, they were not really mingling.Sunrise was talking with Javid, Runo and Hinori, and by the look on the three Hunted, Javid was scaring them with his plans.

Landon looked through the open air vent. It was about two foot square, and he had never been in one before, but was prepared to look now. It was quite thoroughly clean, and he crawled in. I followed suit, and we went briefly down the narrow passage, and then made a sharp turn. Immediately I made a dive at the fox, who was not expecting it. I spun him around and lay him on his back.

"I've got a new toy." I sounded delighted, and rubbed my knuckle against his foot, tickling him.

"Alduin, let go." he squirmed, laughing at me.

I pulled up his artist's apron, and lo!, he was naked underneath. He looked at me.

"I thought you said you were playing with me."

"I want to play with that." I made a mock pounce, and began sucking the fox's cock. He dropped palette and brushes, and lay back.

"I thought our sessions in art would be for this."

"Then too." I replied, and he sighed deeply,"So how long would a portrait take?"

"In all honesty, an hour, maybe hour and a half."

"Tomorrow?"

"I would enjoy painting you." he replied.

"Good, I'll tell Draco that we'll be doing art all afternoon."

"But it only takes...oh, you counted that in. All afternoon, possibly even some time after dinner." the fox smiled, as I rapidly rose and fell sucking on his cock. My treatment of him meant he took very little time to come to ejaculation, and with a muffled howl, he let go into my mouth. I swallowed quickly not wanting to ooze onto my make up.

After I finished milking his cock, I turned back and rejoined the chatter. Abigail saw me properly in the suit.

"I think I could devise some way of keeping you in that suit more often."

"Really, how?"

"Well, some way to cover your cock when you don't need it, and to let it out when I want you to fuck me."

This was only slightly worrying. Everyone was finding me hot in this suit.Doubtless I would also have to make them a way to get through the material so they could fuck my ass, and I said so to Abigail, who laughed.

"Easy, make a small rip big enough, and then octo bond the edges."

"You can do that with fabric?" I asked.

"Yes you can. Tell you what, pop around tomorrow morning,I'll do both, and you can pay me by fucking my vagina." she replied.

"Might need to be earlier than that, Abby. Silverine wants to fuck me, and he won't be choosy about material."

"Five minutes with the octo bonder, after the hunt?"

"Sounds fair enough. Will you actually need me out of the suit?"

"No." the lioness shook her head.

I was most relieved. I broke away from Abigail, and ran into Brendan. He was dressed like a pirate.

"Kitty!" he crowed in delight.

"And a yo ho ho to you too, Brendan. Looking good."

"You look so sexy in that outfit."

"As several others have said also, Brendan."I replied.

"Can I please?"

"No."

Too bad, the dragon dived on top of me, I landed right next to the water with a dragon on top of me.Looking calmly up, I tried to be polite to the dragon.

"Get off, Brendan, the suit isn't as strong as you think."

"Just the once, Alduin."

"Besides, there isn't actually a way you can get in without ripping the fabric."

"I don't mind." Brendan chuckled. Several people were looking at this, Draco included.

Thus they were treated to me rolling hard. Brendan slipped off me, and then realised he wasn't actually on the pontoon. There was a large splash, and I got to my feet.

"Man over board!" Silverine called from the top table, as Brendan broke the surface of the water, looking very surprised. Spluttering and drenched, he swum strongly back to the pontoon, and Gareth and Thomas hauled the pirate out of the water while I sat down next to a broadly grinning jungle native.

"Nice, now you have a sodden pirate looking for your ass."

"He can join the queue." I yawned, as Brendan walked over to me, shaking water off me.

"That wasn't nice."

"On the other hand, Brendan, you need to cool your jets. Who offered you sugar?"

"No one yet. Do you have a bottle of Lift Plus?" he asked hopefully.

"Brendan, look at the suit, does it look as though I'm carrying anything?"

"No." the dragon slumped, but then perked up.

"Still, that means you don't have any." he lunged at me, but I jumped to the top of the table, pointing an arm at him.

"Fire left burst!" I shouted in English. Unseen, a canister exploded outwards from under my wrist, and landed smack bang on Brendan's chest. There was a huge explosion, and smoke and flashes of light went everywhere. Brendan fell backwards in surprise, and landed in the water again. Everyone looked at me in surprise.

"There is a reason he's called the Magical Mister Mistoffolees." Gareth said, looking at the smoke from my burst, as it covered me and Draco.

I walked out of the smoke, my suit glittering, and leaned against the table with one hand as Brendan broke the surface again, swearing.

"Why didn't anyone tell me Alduin has magical powers?" he demanded, as Gareth and Thomas yet again retrieved the dragon. Winslo began casting a spell, and then spoke in surprise and suspicion.

"That was a strange spell, I can't even detect it's presence." he said. I smiled.

"It's handy that way. You can't detect it, and I can do many things with it."

I think half of them actually did believe I was magical at that point. Silverine was smiling widely, he realised what my toy was, and Ryan Viper knew about flash bangs and smoke grenades. This was just a bit of both of them. Sunrise was looking in surprise, Ryan in astonishment, and Simba was impressed. I sat back down, and Silverine spoke from the head of the hall.

"The time is eight o'clock, just speak your request for dinner. Can all the Hunted please come up to the head table?" he smiled.

The eight Hunted came forwards. Kodey was smiling, the doppelganger was emotionless, but everyone else was nervous. I also found out who the eighth was. She was Deltora, a female elf with magical powers and also good with several weapons. She normally looked disdainful and distant, but she was looking very shy and nervous of the crowd. All eight came forwards, and sat down, Kodey and Ryan either side of Silverine. Everyone else also sat down.

I looked at the condiments, and then at my empty plate, as everyone began to pull up seats. Doran sat beside me, and Time, Valmeero and Gareth opposite.

"Battered Hoki, with thousand Island sauce, stir fry of capsicum, carrot, cabbage and onion, and let's see, a portion of spaghetti bolognese." I enunciated, and after a flash of short range teleportation, which I instantly knew to be the glowers, A piece of battered fish, my stir fry and spaghetti arrived on my plate neatly. A small bottle of thousand island sauce sat neatly by the plate, and I filled up my glass with water.

"Hoki, what's that?" Doran asked, as there were miniature flashed from everyone else ordering. I gently poured thousand island over my fish.

"It's a type of fish, and the condiment is 1000 island, which goes nicely with most types of fish. Any further questions?"

"I can see why you ordered it." Doran teased."Only good kittens get their fish."

"I am a good kitten." I purred against his shoulder, and he laughed, and made his order.

I tucked in ravenously into the meal. The stir fry was done to perfection, as was the Hoki. The spaghetti bolognese was good, and it took half an hour to finish the portion. Some people started ordering dessert, but I refrained on account of the Hunt. Once again, during my frequent glances at the top table, the Hunted weren't eating much, except Kodey, who was quite possibly enjoying himself more than some of the Hunters.

Meanwhile underneath the table, Gareth's football was exploring up and down the table. All of us were playing kick the ball to one another, and there was the occasional judder as the ball hit the roof of the table. As I finished my meal, I disengaged from the table, and the football shot out where I had been sitting.

I saved it from a dunking, and kicked over a bridge to the other table, where upon it disappeared and continued up and down. It shot out seconds later and landed into the water.

"Alright, who did it? Someone's got to get that ball." Draco heckled.

Cetacean bobbed to surface, and flicked the ball into the air with his tail. As it came back down to him, he whacked it hard with tail, back to me. I jumped, kicking hard at the ball, and connected, sending it spiralling towards Silverine and the head table. They had finished eating, and the Lupogriff got up from his seat as the ball cleared him and bounced off the back wall. He bombed it back down the length of the hall.

Most had finished dinner, and everyone got up at the possibility of a very strange game of soccer. The ball landed next to the elevator, and I raced Blake to it.We pelted down the hall, and the tiger beat me to the ball, walloping it off one wall and landing it next to Winslo, who passed it down his table to Javid, who gently looped it over his table to Grant, and the panther kicked it back down to me and Blake.

"One for the Head Table!" I shouted, as Blake trapped the ball.

I charged forwards, and hefted a mighty kick. The ball sailed down the length of the hall, curving slightly.

"Ryan's!" I shouted, and the human got to his feet. He headed it ungainly high into the air, and then trapped it for Kodey, who kicked it underneath the table and bouncing off the edge of a pontoon before it splashed back into the water.

This was a game of delicacy. There was a lot of water hazard, and if you miscued, it landed in the water. Fortunately Cetacean was more than happy to recover the ball if it landed out of arm's reach. The time was now nine o'clock, there was one hour until the Hunt, and the Hunted all left the Hall via the elevator, preparing for the Hunt.I slid professionally down a walkway, and lay in an air vent, conserving my strength. Doran climbed in after me, and we watched the foot ball traverse the length and breadth of the hall multiple times until I lost count.

Doran was speaking to me about the Hunt.

"Any ideas who you're going for?"

"You know me, Doran. Anyone will do. I've never spoken to Deltora before, and I'm interested in Ryan Lewis, but all's game."

"I'll keep that in mind." the wolf replied.Draco caught the ball with his hands at twenty past.

"Now now, people, we won't have enough stamina to catch the Hunted if we play this." he got a laugh, and he tossed the ball over to Gareth, who sat down, spinning it in his fingers.

Alecto and Silverine were setting out the big screen T.V.'s for each drome, and Abigail and Ryan were programming each drome.Conversation was rife, but everyone was talking and not exercising, except Takori Tano, who had special things in his legs which meant he could run around all day, so he was practising his running.

"So you have your forms?" Doran asked.

"Still the F1 car, but I've got a new plane." I said, and we left the vent and mingled among the tables.

"Go on, let's see it." Doran prodded me. I got onto the table, and changed into the Su-47.Many people turned around to look at the bizarre craft.

"Alduin's concentrated his wings the wrong way around." an elf commented. Ryan Viper came up to observe the Sukhoi.

"Ah, I had heard about that. Not the fastest in the air, but it can turn on a penny coin."

"Is that why it looks like that?" Time Dancer asked.

"Yes, it's designed to give it better turning. Less armament, less speed, but can out turn anything thrown against it."

"Alduin's gone for something with less weapons, he's not going to be carrying anything..." Draco began.

"What's wrong with him?" Simba completed. The black Sukhoi reformed into me in my cat form, and I rolled my eyes.

"Who needs weapons during the Hunt?"I'm going to hunt down and catch people, I don't need a fighter plane, I need something that can turn through the corridors. And I bet I'll catch someone this year."

"No bet held." Draco replied,"It's foregone." Everyone lost attention in me, and turned back to their own business. I stepped down from the table, and continued tactical conversation with the wolf. the minutes passed, until , at quarter to ten, the Hunted reappeared, milling about the elevator. Silverine announced to everyone.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, will the Hunted step forwards on their name?"

No one heckled him this time, compared to Ryan last Central new Year.

"Deltora!"

The elf stepped forwards, magical spells bursting off her and earthing into the ground. Her sword had lightning dancing around it, and she stood next to Silverine.

"Hinori!"

The ice dragon solidified an ice passage down the water, and walked primly across it. Cetacean came up to see why his water had gone cold. Hinori stood next to Deltora.

"Kodey!"

The reindeer walked up, displaying no tricks. He looked confident, I could grant him that, and he stood on the other side of the Lupogriff.

"Orion!"

Magical fire erupted along one pontoon, in a path. Orion stepped along this path, both ends of his sword staff alight. He formed next to Kodey and his blades stopped burning.

"Polymorph!"

The shapeless shifter drifted over the water towards the Lupogriff, coming to a halt directly in front, and then kneeling, facing us.

"Runo!"

The almost ever confident dragon came forwards. He drew the heat from the magical fire, and used it to vaporise the ice path Hinori had built. He kneeled beside Polymorph, in front of Kodey and Orion.

"Ryan Lewis!"

The human came forwards, not looking at anyone, except glancing at me. I nodded at him, and he knelt on the other side of Polymorph, in front of Deltora and Hinori.

"Sunrise Eclipse!"

There was a bang, and the human changed into his dragon form. There was a second bang, and he vanished, casting Dimension door to arrive directly behind Silverine, who showed not the slightest reaction to the arrival of the dragon.

"These are your Hunted, the time is nine minutes to ten. You have nine minutes to pick your target."

On this last word, the dromes appeared and hovered over their corresponding person. A couple of the less versed in the Hunt among the Hunted looked in surprise, not all of them knew they were being recorded. The big screens crackled in life, and I slunk cat like over to the grate.

No Hunter could leave the hall before two minutes were up, but there would be a rush for the elevator when we could go, and I was not prepared to wait on someone. Doran was standing next to the elevator. It rose reasonably quickly, and Iris was speaking to Draco.

"I will be operating the lever, I want you to show me what you're capable of. Catch one of the Hunted for me."

"It will be Runo." Draco replied, bowing to Iris. Khamsina was in her arms, and another elf spoke.

"Iris, do you wish to take part in the Hunt?"

"I would like to."

"Then let me look after Khamsina while you do so." she offered, and Iris smiled.

"Khamsina, I'll be back in a while." the dragon made a mere chirp, and snuggled into the other elf, going to sleep. Iris thanked Felicia, and we waited. Then the bell tolled ten, and the Hunted ran forwards. To avoid the crowds, all the Hunted who couldn't traverse the water leapt onto the table, scattering candelabras and glasses. Iris went over to the elevator, and stood beside the lever as the Hunted piled in. the doppelganger was last, and Iris threw the lever, and they descended from sight.

After fifteen seconds, she reappeared in an empty elevator.
