Reunion
Part 15
Brett awoke to a horrible pain in his shoulder, he remembered what had happened the previous night and thought little of it. Kurt wasn't in the room, it wasn't a school day, so he was most likely just upstairs doing something in the kitchen. The human's suspicions were confirmed as he saw the door push open as the large tiger backed into the room carrying to plates of eggs and a rose in his mouth, but as his eyes glanced over the small human he dropped everything and rushed to his side.
"Oh gods... just... don't move ok?" Kurt said with worry in his voice. "I don't understand... I thought I... disinfected it..."
"What are you talking about Kurt?" Brett attempted to sit up but was met with the pain in his shoulder growing to be more intense than anything he had even felt before.
"It's infected... it doesn't look good..." A knock came at the door to the two lovers' room and a familiar voice echoed in from the yard outside.
"Brett, it's Clay! I just... Really need to talk... you here?" The large dragon ducked through the doorway into the smaller pair's room and saw the situation in front of him. "You... marked him?"
"Yeah, but I used the black stuff on it! I don't know how this happened!" Kurt replied, panic rooting in his voice.
"He's human... his body isn't as strong as beast-men... The scarring agent probably CAUSED the infection... just... move." Clay walked over and moved Kurt out of the way gently placing his hands under Brett's back and lifting his upper body from the bed, a small red and green pool having formed under the shoulder. "Just keep still... I promise it'll only hurt for a little bit ok?" The human braced himself, as did the dragon, as the reptile's long tongue dragged across the wound. The dragon's saliva causing a sensation which started as just an itch, but soon burned like acid, causing the small human to scream.
"What are you doing to him?!" Kurt yelled at the large black creature sitting over his mate.
"He'll be fine, I'm fixing this... you forget... I'm half Mirage..." Clay replied quietly, the end of his sentence marked with an exhale of eerie blue flames. "Ok... this is the last part ok? Just be strong for us..." The dragon released a breath of grayish blue ghostly flames onto the now fizzing shoulder. As the flames hit, the wounds began to look better, and quickly closed, leaving only the intended scar and light burn scars in their place. "There... sorry that it hurt.... but you'll be ok now..."
"Thanks big guy." The human said softly as he was sat up in a nearby armchair so the bed-sheets could be changed. "So, what's up?"
"Vi and I broke up after the party..." Clay said sadly.
"What? Why?" Brett asked, confusion in his tone.
"We just realized we weren't working... I mean... we've been together for a while and never really did much couple stuff... so we realized we have just been friends this whole time, and it's better that way... but it still kinda hurts..." Clay began to tear up but immediately choked it down. "It'll be fine... but I kinda just wanna hang out here today..."
"Yeah... of course you can! Right Kurt?" the human asked.
"Yeah... sure... why not..." Kurt replied, mild annoyance in his tone, but not enough to notice.
