Desiring some kind of ascent, or uplifting from the human race,

I picked a tail and coat of fur.

One to properly accentuate my taste,

For lithe frame, cleverness... and grace.

I wanted to be free--from a society

Of cheats, preachers, and smiling thieves.

And to never form attachments

That would later make me grieve.

To no longer feel the weight

The need to prove myself the best,

To embrace the strength of animals;

To feel it in my beating chest.

Lastly, loneliness surrounding me,

I wished for another of fair figure,

I wished she'd have an honest heart--

Would follow in my beastly guise

...And never tell me she'd depart.
