#5 of My Hero and Me: My Greatest Adventure Ever
Chapter 5: The Nightmare
The following week had went on in a simple routine. Sunday, when there is no school was focused on both my training sessions with Kimahri and the fun things to do like playing video games, working on my computer, and, well, you know. Monday all the way through Thursday though, it was going to school like usual, but I'm more happy about my life ever since Kimahri's very arrival into this world, the ronso makes a great teacher. After I came back, we start our combat training for one whole hour, learning when to attack properly, defend from incoming blows, and the advantages (and occassional disadvantage) of abilities. After that comes the half an hour of magic training, which was harder than I thought it would be. I learned about the benefits of each type of spell and how some of them use a specific element in them. We both knew that everyone in Spira had the use of Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Water, but he told me about hearing of some spells containing four other elements such as Earth, Wind, Light, and Darkness.
I have learned many techniques along the way, and it showed my approvement. As each day went by, I first noticed a change within me that took place in the bathroom mirror. I started to gain a little muscle in my arms and lifted heavier things. The next change I noticed was that my grades in school have gotten higher, the B's I would normally get, is either an A- or just a plain A. Mom was incredibly proud and it made me guess that the use of magic made me smarter. Those weren't the only things that changed about me, one day in school, I just ran across the hall at a speed that anyone would think is impossible. I could compete on the track team if I wanted to, but I wasn't interested. After the training was finished was just a fifteen minute recovery and relaxation, removing the cluttered in my mind and keeping only what I want with me, helping me concentrate and organize better.
The rest of the day was mine to spend on whatever I've seen fit, so I wasn't seperated from my hobbies. In my last training session, I started to dodge more of Kimahri's quick jabs and attacks and strike quickly but wasn't perfect enough to block and evade everything. Also I was able to cast more spells without tiring out as much. I just didn't feel like myself anymore. Kimahri had also taught me about retrieving my weapon when it's forced away from me without leaving myself unguarded. He always got me several times over and pinned me down everytime, unable to escape from his perfectly built weight, until I finally managed to do it once, but that was it. Kimahri was extremely impressed from the improvements I've made throughout the week and felt proud of not only being my new "Guardian", but also being my teacher.
Following Friday today, I came home from a great B-Day of school, and I saw Kimahri out in the backyard waiting for me.
"I'm back!" I shouted.
"Eric." The ronso smiled, and came up to me with the most wonderful smile I've ever seen from him. It made me extremely happy that he went from usually sad and silent, to smiling and being happy and laughing. "Eric did great job. Kimahri proud. Eric take day off today. Enjoy yourself. Kimahri give reward later tonight." Upon finishing that sentence, he winked at me, and I knew so much already what he meant by that, and also what he meant by "reward". I went inside and sat down on the chair in the TV room, I flipped channels and saw a commercial of a funny movie that came out just barely today. Oh yeah, I thought, that movie just came out. I think I'll go see it tonight, but I just got to get it with Mom first. Normally, other people would find these types of comedy to be stupid, but I like it that way, so I would go see it anyway.
I went about the rest of my things for a few hours while waiting for my mom to come home from work. When she did, I asked her.
"Is it all right if I can go to a movie?"
"If you want to go, that's fine. But you need to have someone with you, I'm not going to let you by yourself." I was about to get mad again because she never realizes my intentions.
"Why not? Ryan's not around and Joe's at work!" I shouldn't have mentioned Ryan though, everyone's still hurt from his disappearance.
"Well, you can't take Kimahri with you." I made a quick resentful sigh and spoke again.
"I know that, but there's no one else I could think about."
"You could take Sue."
"I don't know if she's available."
"Then text her, or call her. Jesus Christ, you make things so difficult!" I made a low growl after hearing that. Why does she always do that? I thought, I'll be eighteen next month, I shouldn't be bothered by her anymore. I checked the calender and check the date was August 22nd, Only a month from yesterday away and it's my birthday, I thought. I went to my room resentfully and started texting Sue if she was available to go see the movie with me. I got a reply shortly after saying: Yes, I'm available, what movie are you going to see? I made a reply telling her that it's the movie I saw on the commercial. Her next reply was: It'll probably sound stupid for me, but if that's what you want, that's fine too. What time? I told her it was around the seven o'clock hour, and then she replied again: Okay, then I am available, Cya :). I then told my mom about the plans and got that settled. After we ate our dinner, I got myself ready and took the car to Sue's house. Before I left, I assured myself to Kimahri.
"Will you be okay at home with mom?" I asked.
"Kimahri ok. You two have fun." He made another wink at me and we smiled at each other as I left to head to Sue's house to pick her up. When I got there, she was already waiting for me from the stone step in front of her front door. She came up to me and got into the car, I asked.
"You ready?"
"Yes, and don't worry about paying for this. I can get both of us in for free, 'cause I still work there." Oh yes, I remembered that was one of the benefits of working there at the theater. We drove down the street to the big theater, "Stadium 10", and Sue got us the free tickets.
"Thanks. It's really nice of you to do that." I told her. "You saved me about fourteen dollars."
"Anytime." She gave me a hug and we went inside. Walking through a crowd of strangers that I could care less about was not my thing at all, but we had to do it now. We skipped getting stuff from the concession stand and went straight to the ticket podium. The employee working there recognized me and asked me.
"Why did you quit? You we're so cool." I didn't feel like answering that question but I did anyway.
"Well, number one, the job completely sucks. Number two, the customers are annoying. Number three, they never pay enough to deal with this. And finally, number four, everything that was great about the job is gone now!" What started as a calm response turned into frustration really quickly and Sue stepped in and told me.
"Hey calm down. You don't have to worry anymore, besides." She then whispered in my ear. "I'm starting to dislike it too." I was wondering when she would realize the bad things about the job, but the guy tore our tickets and we went on our way.
"Yeah, thanks Josh!" I said in a sarcastic tone. When we stepped into the darkness that was the theater, I took a deep breath and calmed down.
"What's wrong Eric?" Sue asked. I then recognized that she noticed my attitude towards this place.
"Well, umm-" She then interrupted me with.
"Hey, don't worry about it. Be happy, you wanted to see this movie so..." She paused looking forward worried.
"So, what?" I asked. I looked ahead with her and to my next dismay was that we found her two stalkers in the theater, sitting on the far row in the back. Oh crap, I thought. Why? Why does it have to be them? Now I was the one concerned for her. "Don't worry." I asked. "Let's just sit very far away from them and ignore them. Hopefully, they won't acknowledge us." Sue hesitated, but nodded in confirmation. We sat and just stared at the ads and trivia that always loops before the show. We continuously waited for the show to start when the silence between us broke with a voice from behind.
"Hi Sue." We heard it and looked back behind us to see the stalkers right in front of us.
"Oh no." She said in a miserable tone.
"What do you want?!" I asked, glaring at them. The stalkers snickered when one of them replied.
"We just thought that we would drop by and say hi to our favorite person. hehe." I saw him shift his gaze towards Sue, and she looked away from them and it started to piss me off even more.
"How do I know you're not just trying to rape her?!" I snapped and the other stalker came to me and asked.
"Says who?" He asked, his accent a little different from the other.
"I do, now get lost!" I wanted them to leave her alone, and I wasn't afraid of a fight either. Since Kimahri's training made me tougher. Instead of leaving, they're just persistent and we're carrying on with their conversation to us.
"Just back off hood!" Snapped Sue. The stalkers finally gave up and just decided.
"Well fine. We've got better things to do anyway. So see ya." After that they left the theater. When they did, the theater grew darker showing that the movie's about to start. We just left that talk behind us as we tried to watch the movie. Sue was just standing there thinking 'what the crap?', while I was just laughing my heart out from the constant jokes. After the movie finished, we went back outside to the the night sky back to my and exclaimed.
"That was funny!" The funniest jokes we're still fresh in my head.
"I thought it was kind of stupid." She said.
"Maybe, but it was funny to me." We drove back to her house and I noticed that Sue is still troubled by our encounter with the stalkers. "You okay?"
"No." She took a deep breath and continued. "They're just harassing me and won't leave me alone." I nodded in affirmation.
"I understand that, did your parents know of this?"
"No, I would have already if they haven't blackmailed me too." I was puzzled from that. Great, I thought, first they want to rape her, now they blackmailed her? What's wrong with them? I asked that question out loud to her.
"They said that they'll do anything to anybody just to get what they want, and that's the case, me."
"If you want to tell your parents, we'd better do it now. I'll protect you, and we'll also get help from the police."
"The police are already distracted from the search for Ryan to do anything about this situation, and they're trying to take advantage of it!" Now they're going way too far, and I was really pissed off and wanted to tear them up a new asshole because that's bullshit. We got out of the car and walked up to the house and asked.
"Is it all right if I hang out a little longer? If it's all right with you."
"Sure that's fine."
Meanwhile, Kimahri and Mom was just enjoying themselves in the living room and the Ronso heard some faint conversation. He got up and walked up to find out, and mom instantly noticed his sudden movement.
"What's wrong?" She asked. He didn't answer and pulled the blinds and saw that a bunch of people we're walking in a group all wobbilly and said some things that we're suspicious to the Ronso.
"Kimahri going out." He said as he gathered his spear and started walking out of the house from the back way.
"What for?" She asked.
"Kimahri sense danger. Make sure not for Eric." In a flash like that Kimahri was outside of the house, carefully watching for other humans, and jumped from rooftop to rooftop, spying on the group of strangers and following them. The Ronso sensed a strange scent eminating from them as though it was like alcohol. They also seemed to be armed with somethings, and he did not like the sound of that. He continued following them at the stealthiest way possible, seeing what they're going to do next.
"Good night. Have a great weekend!" Sue and her mom exclaimed at me as I walked out the door.
"Thank you!" I shut the door behind me and walked out of the house to what would seem like walking to my car. Which was apparently not where I parked, and it made me scared. "Where's my car?!" I asked out loud, fearing that it might have been stolen. Then, coming from my left, was some laughing in the distance. I turned and saw that it was, oh god, Sue's stalkers. But this time, they're with several other people, who appear to have different tools in their hands. From behind them was a bunch of scattered car parts and pieces which happened to be my car. What the hell is going on here? I thought, why are they doing this? Again more laughing.
"Going somewhere?" The first one smirkly asked. I noticed that the way he said that wasn't completely coherant, Huh? I thought, Are they drunk? I was right, they we're drunk, way drunk. As if they'd crash a party at some person's house.
"Afraid we can't let you do that this time." He said and pulled out something which I didn't know about at first until I knew when he flicked a little blade from it. "Otherwise we'll never get to Susan." They continued laughing. Oh Jesus, I thought, What am I going to do? I've never faced a situation like this, not like this. Although they seemed too drunk to even get me at all, maybe I could outsmart them.
"Hey look!" I shouted pointing at a random direction. "A cop!" The very second they turned their head, I made a mad dash for it. It wasn't long enough for they went on chasing me after they found that I tricked them. This wasn't any chase, I was running for my life, not wanting to die. This just has to be a nightmare, I thought nearly crying, Kimahri, please wake me up! I kept pacing for a good few miles and stopping at a local park to catch my breath. This so-called nightmare suddenly grew worse when I found that the stalkers and their lackeys had caught up to me, and they stumbled and tripped. The blurry effects of the beer was taking it's strange toll on them. Now there was anger coming from the stalkers.
"This isn't part of the deal!" He exclaimed in a raging voice. "First, we'll kill you, then we'll finally rape Sue." This is it, I was done for. I looked all around me and there was absolutely no way out, my life was about to flash before my eyes when I looked up and saw a shadowy figure from the trees. It looked really tall and looked like it carried a spear like weapon. Maybe that was Kimahri. Wait, maybe, I thought, they might seem to be too drunk to remember any of this. Out in the open, I didn't care about this anymore and called forth.
"FIRE!" I didn't really aim at them, but more likely aimed it at the grass beneath their feet. In a sudden flash, the green grass was consumed by the tiny inferno and everyone was alarmed and worked their was on putting each other out. This was the perfect chance for me to run. I continued running but they once again chased me some we're still behind putting eachother out while the stalkers and a few others we're already out of it. The shadow was Kimahri and he jumped into another tree, following them, spear ready and prepared to face to worst yet to come. Now I was cornered at the park's water fountain and was caught in the arms by one of the two stalkers.
"So, you like playing with fire eh?!" He snapped, "How about we put you out huh?" With a sudden jerk, my face was suddenly emerged on the water in the fountain. This was my worst yet as I found myself struggling to breathe, my heart racing and adrenaline rushing. Every time I did reach out for air, I was only able to draw in a short inhale before my head was dunked in again. Coughing and gagging, Kimahri watched in horror from the distance and aimed his spear ready to throw, it's was almost over from me when I tried shouthed in desperation.
"KIMAHRI!...... HEELLLLP!!" The Ronso made his aim and threw his spear at the stalker drowning me.
"No ones going to help you now!" The stalker exclaimed while laughing maniacly and the other followed. "Now that you're about to die! Hahahahahaha, welcome to Hell, Boy!" His laughter rose to as loud as it was when a sudden shock paused it. Everything fell silent and the other stalker asked.
"What's wrong?" He didn't answer as he thuded into the fountain, dead. Everyone was freaked out to find a spear hanging from the back of his head, and blood streaming all over. Kimahri roared and jumped into the scene, grabbing his spear from the dead stalker and kicking one of their buddies really hard in the chest, knocking him out. All the hatred and other emotions from them and the remaining stalker especially, was completely lost after the sight of the enraged beast. The stalker ran away screaming, but there's no escaping Kimahri from this. He made another load roar as A heavy stream of fire bursted out of his mouth and struck the other stalker, who screamed in pain as he was quickly burned to nothing but a black skeleton. The ronso saw that the other people get up and run away, and quickly came up to me, still in the fountain. The last thing I remembered was feeling a force pulling me out of the water, then I blacked out.
Phew, well, it atcually didn't take me very long for me to type this. It just took Ryan a few days to actually help with corrections, so yeah, I hope you enjoyed it. Stay tuned for chapter six. ;)
