The sun shined brightly in Celestic town, and Alex was all packed up and ready to leave. He took a quick shower, packed his clothes away and had breakfast alone. He only had to wake up Riolu and start traveling. At this rate they would be in Pastoria by mid-day. The human approached the king size bed and gently shook the puppy until he woke up.

"Rio rio?" The puppy yawned and rubbed his eyes to the sight of his trainer.

"Wake up pup! We need to get going if we want to get to the next city!!!" Said Alex in a happy tone. The puppy had no time to react when he felt Alex lift him up and position him on the floor. He made the bed neatly and then turned to the puppy. "well, the place looks nice! Now we only need to get some food for you and we're set! Do you have anything in mind you would like to eat sweetie?" The puppy uneasily grabbed Alex's bag and looked for his treats. After a minute he pulled out some of the remaining chocolate bars. The puppy smiled and tried to gobble a bar down but was cut off by Alex. "Im sorry pup, but chocolate is more of a dessert food, not a breakfast food. Besides, I don't think you want to feel all energized right after being exhausted, it will mess up your energy; and we don't want that don't we?" The puppy made a pout and a small growl at the human. "Don't worry Riolu, I will give you some chocolate later, I promise. I'll just make you an omelette for now!" Alex grabbed Riolu's paw and walked him to the kitchen, where the rest of the team was waiting.

"Good morning Cynthia!"

"Good morning Alex, Riolu! I've seen you've woken up your team!" Said Cynthia as she looked at Prinplup, Ponyta and Staraptor, who were siting on the counter chairs.

"Well, there's nothing like a family breakfast, isn't it?"

"I have to agree with that!" Said the champion. "Anyway, I have to return to the city hall to help with the restoration of the ruins, just remember to lock the door and leave the keys under the rug at the entrance!"

"Don't worry, I'll take care of it."

The champion grabbed her purse and left the room, she closed the door with her elbow as she left.

"Alright guys! Dig in!" Said Alex as he allowed his Pokemon to feast on the Poke Chow. "And for you sweetie (Riolu) here's your omelette.

"Rio ri!" The puppy munched down the food happily.

"I also made some pancakes for you guys!" Said Alex to Staraptor, Ponyta and Prinplup. The whole gang stood in the kitchen, they looked just like a loving family!!!

It was 8:45 and Alex had already left town. He was in the middle of the woods and had already crossed the lake. He walked with Riolu on his shoulders. And Staraptor in the sky guiding them. As for Ponyta and Prinplup, they were both taking a good nap after the meal inside their pokeballs.

"Hey Staraptor can you see the city?

"Start star!!" The bird pokemon nodded.

"Good, we are at a good pace guys! Oh that reminds me! Riolu here!" Alex handed the puppy a chocolate bar.

"RIO RIII!!!" The emanation pokemon became insanely happy.

"Hey do you want to split the choco---

*MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH* the puppy devoured the whole bar in less than a second. Not even a bit of chocolate was left.

"Um...never mind! Said Alex as he chuckled.

The three of them kept on walking (expect Staraptor who was flying) for about an hour when Alex decided to make a stop. He laid down a squared cloth on the ground and placed his bag in the center so it wouldn't fly away.

"Staraptor you can come down now!"

"Start star!" The bird descended into the ground and stood in front of his master.

"Time for a good rest huh?" Said Alex to the flying type. The three of them, including Riolu, stood silently gazing at the sky. It was a beautiful day after all. The sun was bright, the sky was clear. The breeze was just about right....it was the perfect day! Riolu started feeling playful; so he stood up and walked toward Alex. However the trainer didn't notice this as he had his eyes closed. The puppy then jumped up high and laid his entire weight on his.

"Ouchhh! What the--"

"Rio rii!!! The puppy had a big smile on his face.

"Ouu riolu that hurts a bit!

"Rio?" The puppy was confused, he thought he would make Alex laugh.

"Oh Riolu please get up you're squishing me!!!!!!! The human begged. Noticing this. The fighting type quickly moved away from Alex. He expected him to scream but he didn't. Instead he felt his soft hand rub his tummy; which made him purr. The three once again gazed at the blue sky. Alex soon fell asleep. After all he had slept like 5 hours only; and with a dog on the bed his "good sleeps" were long gone.

It was 12:00pm and the Sun remained with its shiny brightness all along. The crew got to the city just in time.

"Perfect timing! Now I just need to find a cheap hotel to sleep in and we can take on the gym.

Alex and his pokemon started walking down the dirt street. Pastoria was a well looking place. It was full of swamps and bushes. It has lots of green areas and pine trees; and beautiful scenery. It was also the home of the pokemon safari, where inexperience trainers could interact with pokemon. The crew kept on walking for a while, when Alex heard a scream.

"SOMBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!" Said a feminine voice.

As soon as Alex turned around, he was pushed by a man in a black hoodie. He lost balance and fell to the ground. The puppy himself didn't like this, as Alex fell on top of him, squishing his body. But that wasn't what upset him. He felt disgrace, thievery and shame in the figure's aura; an on top of that, he pushed his master!!! The puppy growled loudly and sprinted like never before, following the man in the black hoodie.

"Riolu wait up!" Screamed Alex. He got up only to trip again by a girl who pushed him accidentally.

"Seriously!?!?" Complained Alex as he got up.

"I'm so sorry! But that man stole my pokemon!!!

"What!? Well lets get going!" He said with excitement

"You're really gonna help me?" Asked the girl, which seemed very familiar to Alex at this point.

"My pokemon ran behind the man who stole your pokemon. Do I have a choice?" He said sarcastically.

"Well....I guess not...thank you anyway!"

"Yeah yeah lets go before he gets away!" He said as he grabbed the girls hand and started running down the street.

The man was running down an alley. He had a crimson fox tied with some fishing cord and was crushing it with his arms as he desperately escaped. What he didn't know was that Riolu was following all along.

"RIO RIII RIOOLUUUU RII RI RII WAUFF WAUFF GRRRR RIOOOO!!!" Barked the puppy.

"What the hell" the robber turned away to see the pup at his knees. "Well well well, look what we have here. Perhaps another trophy from our robbery?" The man grabbed Riolu by one of his head appendages (which hurt badly as these were his 'sensitive' spot.)

"RIOOOO!!!! Rio Riii!!!" The puppy squeaked as he felt the pain.

"Hahaha look like I'm getting a special buddy this evening or perhaps two! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" The mans laugh made both Vulpix and Riolu shake, wether the man wanted to sell them, rape them or eat them, neither choice was appealing. The man continue to laugh when Riolu hardly bite him on the arm, tearing blood and flesh of his body and making him let go. Riolu fell to the ground and quickly picked the injured Vulpix and carried on his back as he started running away. However a serious bite wont stop a man ten times bigger than the pup. Riolu was about to escape when he felt something tug his canine tail.

"You fucking nasty dog! How dare you!" The puppy struggled and left the other pokemon fall unconscious to the ground.

"and now, for biting me, you are going to pay a price, you filthy pup!" The man slammed Riolu on top of a rusty old table. The puppy lost balance and couldn't fight back. The robber soon lifted riolu by his his tail and slammed him once again on the table. The dog had his eyes closed all this time, waiting to be hit or something, but things died down fastly and the scene became quiet after he heard a metal strike the robbers had. The puppy slowly opened his eyes and recognized his trainer. Alex was holding a metal pipe in his hands. The puppy turned around, facing his master.

"Oh my god Riolu you're ok!" He said crying. His tears wet the puppy's fur. Alex picked Riolu up and hug him tight, almost squishing him. The loving moment was interrupted by the girl.

"Hey look we need to get out of here he's waking up!" The man who Alex hit was gaining his consciousness. Although he seemed lost and unable to get up.

"Lets move! I hit him hard but I only hit him once!" Said Alex as he picked Vulpix and Riolu.

"Alright lets go!" Said the female as she grabbed the boys hand and sprinted sown the alley. The couple soon got away, leaving the injured thief behind.

Both humans kept running for the past five minutes. They reached the center of the city and were panting and breathing heavily, trying to catch some air.

"Are you *breaths* alright?" Asked Alex

"*breaths* I'm fine *breaths* thanks" replied the girl.

"We better get this two to a pokemon center before things get ugly!"

"You're right! The pokemon center is right up ahead! We can still make it!"

"Alright lets go then."

"Lets go!"

It was around past 1:00pm and both humans had dropped off their pokemon at the hospital. Luckily, neither Riolu or Vulpix were badly injured, just a few bruises. Alex and the girl were sitting on the waiting lounge,well....Alex was sitting on the chairs comfortably; the female was the one upset. Alex noticed her uneasiness and tense walking and decided to talk to her.

"Hey, you need to calm down, its over now, it will be fine!" He said reassuringly.

"I know...but this is all my fault. If I wasn't distracted he wouldn't have stolen Vulpix from me...how could I be so stupid!"

"its not your fault. It can happen to anyone." He said.

"And the worst thing of all is that I couldn't even save him! You did! You knocked him out and risk your own life!"

"It was nothing really!"

"It was something! You could have gotten injured!"

Alex blushed. "Look, I may have been the one who knocked that guy, but that doesn't mean anything!

"Yes it does, if it were only me I would have already lost my pokemon!" She said

"Thats probably not true and the fact that you were willing to confront a guy five times your size means that you care for your Vulpix."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that you are brave enough. That you care for your pokemon!" And thats what matters in the end: the love for your pokemon."

"Thank you...thats...nice of you to say!" She said blushing.

"Well. I really mean it!" He said, trying to comfort her.

*silence*

"Let me compensate you!"

"Excuse me?" Asked Alex

"Let me do something for you! As a "Thank you" for helping me!"

"What do you have in mind?" Asked Alex (he had an idea ;D)

"Let me buy you some lunch!" (Bummer...)

"I have my own money dear." he said teasingly.

"I don't care! Its the least I can do!"

"Im not hungry anyway!"

"Then I'll buy some coffee!" She insisted.

"Look, you really don't have to do anything!"

"Yes I do!" She said as she sat down next to him.

"No you don't!" He continued, scooting a bit away.

"Just let me do it!"

"There's no need really!"

"Oh for god's sake, suck up your male pride and accept my offer!!!" She screamed in excitement! Well the girl said sounded a lot like Jenny, which made Alex accept.

"Alright fine!" He said.

"Thank you! Besides, maybe we can get to know each other better!" She said with a smile.

"Sure! I would like that!" Replied the male. "I'm Alex, by the way!

"Jade. Jade Rosalind!"

"Oh my god I remember you!"

"Huh?" Jade looked confused.

"You participated in the Theatre festival months ago right? In Canalave? You are the girl with the huge Tyranitar aren't you?"

"Um..yes, why you were at the festival too? Beg pardon but I don't remember you!" She said shyly.

"Oh no I did not participated! I was in the crowd!"

"Oh, well, good to know you recognize me!"

"Why would I forget your beautiful face?" (Oh my things are getting flirtatious!) Jade blushed and laughed a bit, their conversation was interrupted when Nurse Joy called them. After picking up their pokemon, Alex and Jade were about to exit the pokemon center when Alex asked her to wait a minute.

"I just have to call my sister, its important!"

"Go ahead l'll wait right here!"

"Thanks, it shouldn't take long!"

Alex entered the telecommunication booth near the entrance on the pokemon center to call his sister. There were about three people in front of him, which wasn't much really...but there was this guy who kept on talking and talking and talking to his girlfriend. He was on the phone for some 10 minutes. Alex patience was running out quickly as he overheard the conversation.

"They should really install another telephone, that way people in a hurry wont have to go through this!" He whispered to himself. Unluckily the man heard his thoughts.

"Um excuse you need to use this?" He pointed at the screen,

"Yes but take your time I can wait!" Alex had a tender blush. He didn't expect the man to hear.

"Oh no its ok! I thought no one was behind me! I've been talking here for the past hour, here!" The boy stepped to a side and allowed Alex to use the telecommunication. He press the buttons and dialed the number of his sister, she soon picked up.

"Hello? Oh Alex its you!"

"Hey Zara! How are you?"

"Im fine thanks! Hows mom and dad?"

"They're great!"

"Good to here! Hey, listen um...I need one of your pokemons!

"Really why?

"Im gonna challenge the Pastoria Gym, which uses water types."

"Oh so you want me to lend you my--

"Exactly!"

"Ok no problem! I will sent him right over. But take care of him!

"Don't worry, l'll take perfect care of him.

"Im sure you will! Is that all?" Asked Zara

"Yes thats it, and say hi to mom and dad from me!"

"Count on it! Bye!

"Bye!!!"

Alex hanged up and left the salon after picking up a pokeball that materialized in a special transportation machine. He exited and headed for the entrance, were Jade was waiting for. As he got out, he felt everything was surreal. Today he saved his pokemon, he helped and save another's pokemon, and now was about to have lunch with a beautiful girl. To give you a brief description of Jade: She was a 15 year old girl with long brown hair, her hair tips having a lighter brown color. She had turquoise eyes and a fit body(both which Alex found more attractive of her). He continue to walk out and met with the girl at the entrance of the hospital.

"I don't know you but apparently my definition of brief is different from yours! What took you so long?" Said Jade after waiting more than expected.

"Oh just a guy that lasted more than what i expected, but now I'm here and we can go grab that coffee!"

"Excellent! Lets go!"

It was around 2:00 pm now and Alex and Jade, along with Vulpix and Riolu, had entered the best cafe in town. There was a bit of line but after a couple of minutes both were ordering.

"Hi! How can I serve you?" Said the worker.

"Hi um...cappuccino!" Said Alex.

"I want a cafe express please!" Said Jade.

"Sure anything else?" As the lady behind the counter asked the dog spot a bash full of chocolate cakes!

"Rio ri rio lu lu rir ir rio riiii rio RIOOOO!!!!" The dog got out of control and started pulling Alex's hair and pointed at the sweets.

"Ou ouch Riolu! Stop it you're gonna rip off my hair!!!

"RI RIO RI RI LI LUUUU RIOOOO!!!!" The puppy started barking and jumping on top of his trainer!

"Ok ok fine I'll buy the cake! Just please stop now!! I SAID STOP!!!" The puppy settled down as he got what he wanted. Jade giggled.

"You two do make a funny partnership!"

"Who? Me and Riolu? You don't know the half of it. He is the most annoying and whinny pokemon on the face of this planet!" Said Alex teasingly. The puppy growled silently at his master's comment.

"You clearly haven't met my vulpix! He is the most annoying whinny and needy pokemon!" Said the girl

"I highly doubt that!" He chuckled. Their conversation was later interrupted by the waitress that delivered their order. The group exited the shop and headed for the park that was in front.

"Its really beautiful here!"

"Well, this sector of the city is part of the pokemon safari, so many pokemon live here!" Said Jade.

"Really, maybe I can meet one and catch it!" Said Alex enthusiastically

"Well, pokemon here are protected by law so you cant actually catch them unless its with a pokesafari pokeball. But if you want we can go there later!"

"I would like that, but I came here to challenge the gym, so I really want to concentrate on that." Said Alex. "By any chance, have you already won this gym match?" He asked.

"Oh I don't do gyms..."

"Oh are you a pokemon coordinator?" Asked the male.

"No."

"A breeder?"

"Nope!"

"Then what are you?" Asked Alex.

"Um I am nothing...I just like having pokemon and care for them. I do train and enter battles now and then but just for fun. Im guessing you are a trainer!" Responded Jade.

"Yes I am!"

"How many badges do you have?"

"This would be my fifth one! Well of course if I win."

"Im sure you can win. As long as you have an electric or grass type you should be fine against Crasher Wake!

"Yeah don't worry, I just asked my sister for one!"

"Oh, well I guess you are ready? Are you gonna train at least first?" Inquired Jade.

"eeehh I'll just leave it to luck!" He said sounding a little cocky.

"Hahaha well, mind if I watch?"

"The battle? Yeah sure why not?"

"Excellent! At what time are you planning to go? The Gym is open until 8:30 pm!"

"Well, I would like to register at the Pokemon center and Settle down first!"

"Well, lets go after we finish our drinks!"

"Alright then!"

Alex and Jade continue talking, while all this time Riolu had wandered off...he had finished his cake and happily explored the beautiful scenery Pastoria had to offer! He walked on all fours while he sniffed and sniffed every tree in his way, he ate some apples, talked to some Pidgeys nearby, and reached to a little neighborhood near the park were Alex and Jade were. He wasn't that far either, he really didn't see why Alex would get mad if he went a little further. So, he walked close to the houses. There was this one in particular that called his attention, the reason being that the smell of meat was coming out of the house. The puppy wagged his tail as he got closer and closer. You see this house was an "antique"! It was a three story house with cracked walls and a water mill on the side, probably its power generator. On the balcony stood a grill full of meat, and the sound coming from the house suggested a reunion was taking place. Obviously Riolu could not control himself and had to grab a bite, so he started climbing the cracked walls. More than once he felt sores in his paws from the scars and scratches, but he finally reached the balcony. The puppy saw the cooking meat and moved down the railing to grab a bite. However, the concept of being careful was completely ignored by the blue dog. He ran excited towards the grill. He lost balance after a couple seconds. As the puppy reached for the meat he tripped and fell off right into the water mill. He fell on to the wood and as it kept spinning, the puppy fell into the freezing water. He tried to swim but wasn't able to reach the surface do to the wheel and axle pushing him down. Riolu tried holding his breath but was desperate and freaked out. He struggled to move but his useless kicks only got him trapped under the mill. The wooden structure was squishing his little canine leg as the water filled his lungs. His vision started getting blurry as his air supply was decreasing. He felt his heart skip a beat as he started panting heavily. He tried screaming, but the water only shut him up. His whining only resulted in Riolu loosing more air. He continued to swim helplessly underwater but his leg was still trapped. Nothing he could do would actually work. He even tried a force palm on the wood, but he had already lost a lot of energy and was unable to concentrate. He started to faint as he saw nothing but darkness, his lungs filled with overflowing liquid as his last breath escaped his body. Suddenly the struggling stopped and the puppy let go. His body was floating towards the surface, but remained enclosed by the wood. The bubbles caused by his desperate movements of escaping disappeared and everything became calm...no kicks...no punches...no cries.....no breathing...dead.

Back at the park, Alex was waiting while Jade threw away the cups and plates in a nearby trash can. Jade grabbed her purse and stand up.

"Well, i think we are finished here!" She said happily.

"Yeah, lets get going shall we!" He said as he wrapped his arm over the females shoulder.

"Common Vulpix lets get going!"

"Pik pik vul pix!!!" The crimson fox followed the couple.

"You too Riolu lets move!

.............silence..............

"Riolu? Common stop hiding lets go!" Alex turned around only to find that his pokemon was gone.

"Looks like he wander off?" Said Jade.

"UGHHH FOR GODS SAKE! Not again. I swear I'm gonna kill that dog when i find him!" (Soooo ironic!)
