The State Suites Hotel was a relatively new hotel that opened only five years prior only a few blocks away from the San Francisco harbor. It was a very retro-modern design with a surprising interior with a massive courtyard-like lobby. On the second floor was the dining room with a balcony that overlooked this lobby and a four star class restaurant that was a favorite spot for tourists visiting the Bay Area as well as locals. The bottom five floors opened up onto each other forming this massive space that looked like it was supported by the six elevators that lined it.
Down towards one of the elevator shafts was a group of mismatched strangers met seemingly to head up to their respective rooms. However, once inside the elevator and with the doors closed the story quickly changed.
"Okay Bun-bun, cut the camera feed and work your magic" the person in the front of the group spoke sub-vocally, though they all heard him as if he had said it.
"All set on my end, the operation is green" said a voice in their collective ears very formally. They started pulling stuff from their luggage as the elevator slowly crept up to the target floor under the guidance of the unseen force that was observing and monitoring the operation.
"You need to lighten up Lieutenant if you're going to be my Operations Chief."
"Sir, May I ask you to please limit unnecessary com chatter" replied the Lieutenant.
"Whatever" he said aloud while putting a magazine of .50 caliber ammo into the machine pistol he was wielding and then bringing his hand down on the bolt handle on the front of the weapon to prime it making a satisfying click sound. There were two more of those sounds as well as a much larger sound of the charging handle being pulled on the heavy rifle. He turned and faced the three other men with him.
They were all wearing their light protect gear which consisted of a chest piece, greaves, arm-guards, and their helmets with masks and goggles. He too was wearing a chest piece and greaves but had also a black overcoat he had changed into. The two men closest to him also had .50 caliber machine pistols and the man behind them had a paratrooper heavy rifle, which was a short version of the heavy rifle they usually carried. All of them suppressed, including his .357 he was loading.
"You ready for this, because I know they're not."
"Yes, sir" they responded in unison, their voices muffled by their breath-masks. He turned back around, donning a wolf head mask in the color of a gray wolf. It's presence transforming him from a man to a nameless cold-hearted killer that shows no mercy to its enemies. Complete anonymity, striking from the shadows.
"All right Lieutenant; let's do this." There was a ding the signaled they had reach their destination, the tenth floor. The elevator doors opened and the heavily armed group stepped outside. Turning right, he raised his pistol up at the two men half way down the hall, standing guard and the only ones out in the hall. The two shots seemed to just roll off the weapon as the slide clicked back and forth. It almost couldn't be heard over the sound of their boots. He emptied the clip into them just to make sure and reloaded, placing the pistol back in its holster and bringing up his machine pistol.
They formed up to breach the door, one on the right by the handle, and the other three lining up on the left with him taking point in the front. He nods to his man on the right who pulls out the Key-Card-Cracker, which looks just like a key card but slightly longer, and slides it down. It takes only three seconds for the mechanics of the hacking device to thwart the lock's computer and forcing it unlocked.
The doorman pulls the lever down and card out as soon as it unlocks and he forces the door open quickly with his left arm, his weapon drawn in right rushing forth into the room. His thumb making sure the weapon is in single fire as he squeezes the trigger at the sight of the first enemy in front of him, the round hitting the man square in the chest knocking him off his feet.
His left hand goes to the foregrip of his weapon as he clears the door, steadying his aim as he sweeps slightly to the left to the man who was standing next to the man he had just dropped. His thumb switching his weapon to two round burst he squeezes the trigger quickly as his gun fires two rounds rapidly and silently into that person which also puts him to the ground.
There were two others off to his right that he knew about in his peripherals. The room was part of a larger two bedroom suite, on his left was a wall, the man who had been in front of him was standing by a doorway that led to one bedroom and bath. On his right was a half wall that separated the entry from living and dining space. There were two men directly left of him, one was sitting on the couch that was back against the front wall, the other standing beside him with a drink in his hand. There was another man in the kitchen and a fourth sitting at the dining table adjacent to the kitchen.
He didn't worry about them as the men who came in right behind him, wielding the fully automatic heavy rifle and unencumbered by having to support the door and able to have full control of his weapon, concentrated on them by unleashing his weapon and it's 6.8 x 28mm bolts at 750 rounds per minute. He caught the first guy who was on the couch in the side of the face putting three rounds through his skull. He then followed up, as the man behind him took control of the door so it didn't swing into his back, with the second man who was standing next to man whose brains he had just exploded over the room by swinging his firing weapon towards him, catching him first in his stomach and then in his upper torso.
Clear of the doorway, he slide over the half wall, all while still firing his weapon at the dude in the kitchen who got hit in the shoulder as he dove for cover behind the island that divided it from the living space. The third man had given up his duty of holding the door to the doorman as he single fired his weapon at the man at the table who had managed to draw a weapon but couldn't decide who to aim at. He put two rounds into him, one in the chest and another in his skull. He then moved forward so that the doorman could enter the room and let the door close behind him, and so that he could move up and cover the pointman, his fire-buddy, as he moved into the left bedroom to clear it having ignored the other four hostiles.
He walked through the doorway, greeted by the open bathroom door which he moves forward to check if anyway in there by firing his weapon right to left into the shower curtain at hip height before sweeping it open with his left hand wall he looked into the tub. All he heard was his rounds piercing tile and an empty tub. The pointman also came up empty hand.
While they were doing this, the other two, the automatic rifleman and the doorman, had unloaded their weapons into the wall behind the kitchen that led into the other bedroom before entering it. Their ammunition had be designed and weapons modified for this mission to not double pierce, in that they would only go through one wall, or at least a body and one wall and vice versa. They didn't really have to worry about the next door suits as they were vacant per the guests of this suite's request, but their normal ammo and weapon settings were known to pierce many times.
They entered the room and the rifleman swept right checking behind each of the beds, which were now destroyed by their barrage. The doorman, a fresh magazine loaded in his weapon, unloaded all twenty rounds of it into the closed bathroom door, being precise where he aimed to make sure he hit his possible target. Letting his weapon fall to his side and hang by its sling, he draws his .45 side arm and kicks in the door, finding only a bloody corpse with a weapon drawn. "Clear" he says aloud.
They all meet back in the common room, the pointman and their leader standing over the corpse that had been standing with the drink. The holotool on his left arm active and displaying a picture that looked like the man. "Looks like we got him Lieutenant, are you ready for upload?"
"Ready on my end, use the tool's scanners to get a sample and I'll confirm if it's him" said the voice over their intracom channel which made him sound like he was talking right into their ears. "Be advised, the locals were alerted. It seems someone tipped them before you arrived, there's already SFPD in the lobby and SWAT teams are setting up.
"I'm getting the scan now" he says sticking a finger into the corpse's blood.
"Scan received."
"Good, now disperse as planned."
All four of them headed out into the hall and back to the elevator which opened to them. Entering it, they packed away their gear into two bags and a pack. Then the three went down to the lobby, back in civilian attire, while the pointman took the gear up the stairs to the roof two stories above. A strong wind assaulted him as the turbofan powered VTOL aircraft glided to the open space on the room rather quietly. The rear hatch lowered down and he threw the gear onto the "whirlybird" before stepping off and back down the stairs to the ninth floor before getting on an elevator and down to the lobby.
"Hold it" said the SFPD officer, "there's been a report of a murder in the building, we're going to have to search you."
"Oh my" said the pointman throwing his hands out and looking astonished "that is just awful. Why of course you can search me officers, I just came from my room on the ninth floor." He let the officers pat him down and look in the elevator. He knew if they ran the tapes it would show him getting on the elevator earlier and taking it the ninth floor where he checked into his room and then got in that elevator and rode it down sometime later.
"When did you get here" one of the officers asked.
"Just a few minutes ago, I'm staying for a conference in the area. It doesn't start till tomorrow so I thought I would see some sights before I turned in for the evening. Someone has really been murdered in this hotel; I might just have to go somewhere else."
"Everything is perfectly safe, we're checking into the claim and most likely this is an isolated incident" responded another officer.
"You can go on your way, sir" said the first officer.
"Thank you. I do hope you catch whoever did this." He walks off towards the main entrance. The clerk at the front desk saw four men enter and four men had left. The tapes would fill in the blanks of things that the witness didn't see.
"Target has been confirmed and noted as K.I.A." said the operations chief in his head.
"Sic Semper Traditoribus" he subvocalized his response.
