The black car came to a screeching halt beside the pavment, and futher up there was a charming little white painted house. He turned the motor off, and opening the car door, he marched out into the pouring rain. He was completely drenched when he was finaly standing on her porch. For a moment he fumbled for the spare key Tamra had given him. He finally found it and when he with a shaking paw pushed it into the expensive dark-wooden door's lock, he tried to blame his nervious trembling on the cold rain. He unlocked it and with only a few seconds of hesitating, went inside.
The hallway was gloomy, but not dark enough to render him complelty unable to see. Quickly shrugging off his coat, which landed on the hard-wood floor with a wet splatch, the dark tiger quickly made his way up the stairs. His mind had been up to that point only filled with the thought that she'd been all alone the days up till now, battling what must be a conflicting sea of mother instincts and her quicker, more rational mind. And yet it irqued him that she hadn't called him the moment she ha left the hospital after the abortion was done. He'd wanted to know far sooner that something like this had happned. But that was just the way Tamra was; though-as-nails and smart, but also trying to show that she could take care of herself. He knew she could take care of herself. It didn't make him worry any less however. To think that his beautiful strong-willed cat was hurting, that she maybe thought that the pain was to heavy a cross to bear, made his stomach clench together in worry. And then and there he vowed that he would help her, in any way that was possible for him to.
He didn't care to knock on her door, he just pushed the brass handle down and went in.
At first he didn't see her, only to realize seconds later that she was on her bed under the covers: A pretty big hill-like bun clearly visible under the bedsheets.
"Tam? Kitty cat?" He tried to convince himself that the sound that came from the bed wasn't a sob. Lumping over to the bed, Arlen sat down on the side of it and placed a paw on the warm body underneath it. He lightly started to stroke it, and not long after a pair of slender arms snaked their way out of the sheet-prison. The light pink sheet with tiny cream colored heart on was slowly pushed aside to reveale Tamra Delgado - looking more huanted and misreble than Arlen had seen her in a long time.
He almost held back a wince; her eyes were red, swollen and puffy, most likely from crying but also possibly becuse from lack of sleep. A quick scan showed that she wasn't at least any tinner. And becuse of it the black tiger allowed himself to relax just a little bit. "What are you doing here?" Tamra whispred, and Arlen felt how a wave of pity crashed over him, her warm, pretty voice sounded as hunted and pale as she looked. The big black tiger shrugged one shoulder in response. " I uh...I just thought you didn't want to be alone, so I just wanted to chek in on you." He replied, momentarily averting his gaze before looking back at her. A small spark of life flicked in her beautiful green eyes, before it was extinguished in the sea of woe. Tam's head lowerd, and he was worried that she was crying. She looked up agian without warning however and said, "You can go home now, Arl, I'm fine, really. Thanks for coming by." She tried to smile, but it became stiff and unatrual, he mouth trembled far to much. He shook his head. "No damn it! You're not okey, so stop pretending you are." She just placed her paws on his shoulder, and when she gazed away her eyes seemd to glow with desolation. When he gatherd into his arms she didn't fight, on the contraty - she seemd to crave the contact, and she cluthed him with everything she got, as if she was terrified that she might drown if he'd let her go.
He knew that she'd started crying when her body started to shake in his arms. He just held her tighter, trying to comfort her with his precence alone, becuse that was all he could do at the moment. To ease her of some of the pain he started to purr and gently rock her. Her crying started to turn in to mellow whimpers, and soon she lifted her head which she had bored into his shoulder, and wiped the tears away. Her eyes were still glossy, but she seemed to be a little better now. And that was all that mattred to him at that point. He rumbled thoughtfully while he idly caressed her right cheek. "Did... you wanna keep it?" He asked carefully after a pause. Tamra tilted her cheek into the big tiger's palm. "I...I don't know; a part of me wanted it, but I knew that I could never care for it alone. Our line of work isn't the most ideal one for family-life, exatcly." Tamra replied.
Arlen didn't know if he should agree or disagree. He didn't say anything however, becuse Tamra looked like she really wanted to tell him something; her mouth oppend and closed slowly, and her eyes were downcast, if he didn't know any better he'd swear she looked guilty. As gulity as if she had murdered somone he knew!
He silently encouraged her to speak her mind by rasping his tounge over her forhead in a lick. It seemd to work becuse she purred and closed her eyes in response, so he continued with it.
"Arlen?"
"Hmmm?"
"Please...don't be angry." She whispred once again and reached up to wound her arms around his thick neck again.
"Hmmm:" He replied again.
"...It...It was ours. The unborn cub that I a-aborted...was yours." Her words were slow and stuttred ever so slightly, but her voice was firm and strong.
His tongue stilled against her forhead. Frozen in mid-lick
A sharp flash of lightning lit up the room.
