Pit's Pit
#1 of Dark!
Stuff! VERY ROUGH DRAFT!
The ice dragon hit the ground hard as the guards released him from their talons and flew off, leaving Irogar alone in the center of the massive arena, hundreds upon hundreds of dragons sitting in the stands cheering. He stood up shakily, his head swam laps as he looked around the desert arena. He didn't want to fight again, he just wanted the killing to stop, he wanted to go back to his mate and son. It was then he noticed that they hadn't bothered to clean up the stadium from the last competition, the monthly yearling battle. The sight of so many young dragon corpses made his stomach heave and he threw up what was left of the pitiful excuse for a meal he'd been given across the sandy floor of the arena. The crowd laughed and the Queen joined in as she took her seat in the throne balcony. The ice dragon glared poison up at her and gave a growl. Queen Selina laughed again and looked towards the master of ceremonies with a nod. The vibrantly colored dragon returned the nod and took flight above the cage over the arena. "Nesses and drakes!" He shouted. "We have an exciting match for you today! After five wins, Irogar of the terrorist group Vengeance of the Seers, has the opportunity for freedom!" This was met with many boos from the crowd. "But! He can only earn it if he can either defeat our champion or survive ten minutes against him. And here's our champion! You all know him and love him, but if you're new meet that ravenous carnivore, The Cannibal!" He roared.
A heavy portcullis rose opposite the Queen's throne and a large earth dragon treaded out, his paws sinking into the sand a bit as his muscles rippled with strength beneath his tough scales. The ice dragon swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. No one had ever beaten the Cannibal and he wasn't too skilled in combat to begin with, he'd barely made it this far. He was going to be that beast's meal... He shook his head. "No, no time for that kind of thinking." He reprimanded himself. The earth dragon stared right at Irogar and grinned while licking his lips. The ice dragon shuddered and backed away slowly. The portcullis closed again with a clang and a fanfare announced the commencement of the battle. "And now, the moment you've all been waiting for! Fight!" Roared the colorful dragon before he soared back to the Queen's side to watch.
The Cannibal circled around the ice dragon, sizing him up as if determining how he was going to eat him. Irogar kept backing up before he decided to take a chance and leapt forward with a roar, tearing past the earth dragon before taking a swing at his side with his claws. The ice dragon missed terribly, but recovered and took off to safety.
Pit chuckled as he watched his prey fail at attacking him, turning his body to follow the ice dragon's movements. Irogar spun around and leapt at Pit, this time his claws raked across his heavy chest scales before sinking into a soft point between two. He latched on and started biting at his neck, trying to get his fangs to penetrate that natural armor. The Cannibal swung his neck wildly and grabbed the ice dragon by his neck and pulled, eventually freeing those claws from his neck. He flung the ice dragon into a dune with a thud. As Irogar slowly stood and turned to look back at him, the earth dragon settled low with his legs tensed and ready before letting out a massive and impressive roar. Irogar's eyes went wide at that ferocious sound and spread his wings to take flight, soaring up higher until he collided with the net of thin metal cables that covered the arena. The Cannibal laughed, it's too bad the Queen hadn't ordered them electrified yet.
Irogar tumbled back to the ground in a heap, the sand cushioning his fall and he tried to recover quickly. But as he looked up he saw the Cannibal's grinning fangs just feet from his face. Irogar cried out in surprise and swiped at that snout, scoring a hit and leaving four gashes along the tip before he follows over and spread his wings again. Put roared at those cuts and pulled back a bit only to growl as he saw the dragon prepping to take off again. Irogar tensed his legs, but as soon as he leapt something hit his side heavily. He was thrown to the ground and slid a few feet before coming to a stop. Pit lumbered up to him and placed a paw on one of his still outstretched wings. "No flying." The earth dragon growled as he began to out pressure on that limb until it couldn't resist anymore and a sickening snap rang out. Irogar shrieked in pain as his wing was broken, trashing around and taking wild swings at Pit as the crowd roared with approval. The earth dragon chuckled and pulled away, allowing the ice dragon to recover. "Now fight." He snarled. Irogar whimpered and rolled to his feet, one wing hanging limp off his side.
"You're sick!" The ice dragon spat out, hobbling away from him. He was moving slowly with his injured wing, it hung limply beside him and dragged causing him to wince and whine. He wouldn't be able to run, he couldn't fight. Not while he still had the wing. Pit laughed and advanced slowly, keeping the distance between them constant. Irogar reared back and let out a blast of his chemical venom, a ring of liquid spurting out of his maw towards Pit, particles of crystal water forming behind it as it travel. The Cannibal deftly dodged the blast that landed on the sand, causing it to freeze solid in a small areas, and let out a roar as he barreled towards Irogar. The ice dragon inhaled to try again only to have the whole weight of Pit slam into his side. Irogar fell over again, gasping for breath as the wind was knocked out of him and his last venom shot went wild, forced out by the impact to leave his glands empty. It'd take a bit to make more. Pit snarled and placed a paw on his throat, pressing down slowly. Soon the ice dragon was clawing at that leg while struggling to get even the shallowest breath. "Hush." Growled Pit as he pinned the dragon's hind legs with a foot and his thick tail. The Cannibal lifted his free paw and rubbed the back of his claws over Irogar's neck lightly with a grin as he released some of the pressure from his other. The ice dragon stared back in confusion as he could finally catch his breath, what was he doing? The earth dragon started to trail the backs of his claws down Irogar's chest, then belly, and down on towards his crotch. Irogar's eyes widened in terror 'no, he wasn't going to... no!' He thought to himself in horror. The Cannibal then circled a claw around his genital slit before slipping one in around the tip. Pit then began to slice, cutting his claw up towards Irogar's chest, splitting the scales and skin of the dragon apart. Irogar screamed in agony as he was slowly cut open, digging his fore-claws into that leg holding him down in desperation. The spectators roared in approval and Queen Selina looked absolutely entertained. Pit ignored the pain as he continued slowly and carefully, making sure to cut between his scales and slice through his skin and the muscular sack protecting his organs while not damaging the actual organs, eventually stopping his cutting when he reach the ice dragon's sternum. He removed his claw and licked it with a grin as he released the ice dragon. "Stand up~" Pit said with a chuckle as he stepped back.
Irogar had nearly blacked out from the pain and was now breathing heavily and staring at the slash that had split open his belly. Those words made him whine. He couldn't get up, he'd die and leave a nice mess for the earth dragon to eat. Irogar placed a paw over the gash and tried to hold it together, the sight of the blood and glimpses of his own internal organs made him sick. He heaved again, but there was nothing left in his stomach. Pit laughed and stepped away. "I'll make you a deal. You make it to the exit..." He pointed towards the gate and nodded, the guards opening the portcullis. The Queen leaned closer and watched intently, the dragoness having specifically instructed not to be informed of her champion's plans as to truly enjoy them. The crowd held it's breath and watch. The gate rose completely and soon a few figures could be seen in the gateway. Irogar gasped and whined, two of the figures were his mate and son, his mate bound up tight as his son struggled inside a small cage. "You get to the gate before me and you and your family go free. I make it there before you, you and your son make a great meal while I enjoy your mate's company."
Irogar hissed and tried to spit his venom again, a pitiful amount splashing onto the sand. Pit shrugged and began to amble off towards the gate, pausing to grab one of the yearling bodies and toss it into his maw, crunching down on it only to grimace. After he'd swallowed he growled. "Cold. Much better when they're warm." He muttered before resuming his leisurely pace. The ice dragon whimpered and began to pull himself forward with one paw, the other holding his gut close. Each tug pulled on his broken wing causing sparks of pain to erupt through his body. "P-please! They're innocent! T-they didn't know about me!" He pleaded. Pit shrugged. "So? What do you care about innocents? You killed plenty of them with your bomb."
"I did not! Th-" He let out a pained groan as he continued to crawl, attempting to use his hind legs to assist him. "The building was empty!"
"Was it?" The Cannibal replied, peering back at him. "Tell that to the three classes of yearlings there on a sudden impromptu field trip sponsored by the queen~ Forty seven children dead along with their teachers. And the way you blew up the building trapped them inside with no hope of a rescue. Shame." Pit grinned at the thought. Irogar gasped. No. He was sure that building was going to be empty... she had known, she did have spies in the Revenge. She had known and set him up. That's how he was caught so fast, one of his own must of sold him out. He whined and tears welled up in his eyes at the thought of what his protest against the tyrannical queen had actually accomplished. "I-I didn't know..."
Pit laughed. "Too bad. Now better hurry." He said as he walked behind Irogar and made quick cuts to his hind legs. The ice dragon whimpered and kicked at him to try and put up some defense as he got closer and closer to the gate. "Daddy! Help!" He could hear his son's voice as the young dragon clashed against the cage. His mate was staring in horror, but was too bound and muzzled to say or do anything.
Suddenly Pit grabbed his tail and held him still. "Stand now." He growled. Irogar shook his head. "I-I can't!" He looked up at the massive clock above the Queen, it said he had only three minutes left to survive. If he could just stall... "STAND UP!" Pit roared and tugged hard on his tail, ripping the end of it off as the ligament and skin have way. Irogar screamed and kicked his legs in agony, the crowd giving a cheer. The ice dragon looked at his family and nodded. "I-if I die, will they be safe?" He asked, just a shred of hope left.
"Maybe." Grunted Pit. "Now stand up." Irogar dug his claws into the two flaps of his stomach to hold it as closed as he could, rolling and struggling to stand. He could feel the weight of his organs shift and press against the seal his paw made, blood oozing from the slits he couldn't cover. Soon he was up and wobbling on three legs before he beg to limp towards the door. Pit laughed and followed close. There was only a few feet left and Irogar started to grow hopeful yet again when he suddenly cried out as a flash of pain raked across him. Pit had dug his claws into the ice dragon's side and ripped down the flesh, leaving four bleeding gashes down his side. But in a reactionary movement he removed his paw from his belly to defend himself. He instantly realized it, but was too slow to fix his mistake. In a sickening moment his organs were no longer internal, slumping to the sandy ground beneath him. He stared in horror before falling on his side near the bloody, pulsing mass that was once inside his body. In a mindless panic he tried to push them back inside his body. Pit laughed as he watched him, looking to his Queen who nodded in approval as she gave a cheer along with the rest of the crowd. Irogar watched as the Cannibal stepped closer and lowered his maw to the pile, opening his jaws and taking a large number of his organs into it before closing his mouth and pulling back, ripping those life giving bits from the ice dragon's body. "W-why?" Irogar gasped.
Pit shrugged. "Tastes good." He said before leaning in for more. The ice dragon was fading fast as he looked towards his family. "I... Love..." He pointed at them, no longer able to speak clearly as blood pooled from his mouth. Pit raised his head and looked at the guards. "Send them both to my quarters." He said. In his last moments, Irogar heard that and his mouth opened into a silent scream before he stopped moving and finally died.
The Cannibal chuckled and resumed eating, ripping off chunks of flesh as the crowd went wild. The colorful dragon returned. "The Cannibal everyone! Now undefeated over two hundred times!" He roared. The Queen nodded at him and smiled before turning to leave the arena. "Alright! Don't forget, tomorrow we have a Knight of the Wing who'll be fighting their way through our own TOURNAMENT OF DEATH! See you there!" He said before landing and running to catch up with the Queen. Pit ate as much as he wanted from the dragon before leaning up and licking the blood from his muzzle. He turned and left the emptying arena as the portcullis closed behind him.
