Unstable Serenity - Chapter 10, A Nation for Liberation
Moscow, Russia
Max's POV
"What do you mean the American embassy closed!?" I yelled at Viktor.
"You see Max, the Americans got a plane, and left. It's that simple" Viktor replied.
The two of us were occupying a diplomatic room in the Kremlin, Viktor was calmly sitting down and drinking his tea while I was nervously pacing about the room.
"You need to relax, Max" Viktor said.
"How!?" I pondered. "How the hell am I going to ever get home!? I have no money, no passport, no plane!"
I rolled my eyes and sat stressfully on the couch. There were a few stressful moments of silence while waiting, the clock on the wall ticked second by second, time felt like it was never going to end, and my days here seemed as if they would soon be permanent. A young vixen entered the room and broke the silence by speaking.
"Mr. Sikalinsky, General Evvi is ready to see you" the Vixen spoke.
"Alright then, let's go Max" Viktor gestured me to follow him.
I was tired, sore and worn-out completely, even after I had a nice ten hour sleep, I was still in pain. I still wore that Russian military outfit and had bandages and patches cover parts of my broken body. We walked through the set of doors that lead us to the command room, it was similar to the one in that facility in the Ural mountains, only bigger. It had the computer screens with workers typing away and a giant projector in the middle of the room hanging from the ceiling, facing a giant white board.
"Viktor!" General Evvi spoke with a smile.
"Sir," Viktor replied "there's been an issue."
General Evvi completely ignored his statement.
"Ahh, and I see this is your American friend? Why is he so huge? What in the world do they feed him in the west?" Evvi spoke.
The general offered me a paw, and I shook it nice and firm.
"It's good to meet you, sir" I replied.
"Umm, guys" Viktor cut it. "I have something very important to tell you..."
"What is it, Viktor?" Evvi asked.
"It's Zarith Quilz sir, he has... Got away" Viktor said in disappointment.
"I gave you an army!" Evvi shot back.
"S-sir, I-I-" Viktor stuttered.
"-It was my fault!" I interrupted.
The two of them just glared at me after I made that statement.
Evvi pointed at me and said: "You let him get away!?"
"Yes sir," I gulped. "He had a hostage, and I wanted to make sure that we could save him."
Viktor let out a sigh of stress. "We were so close! And you blew it! Now you're saying that now we have to commence a rescue mission?"
"Sir, this kid... You need to see it for yourself to understand!" I replied.
"We'll track him down. In the meantime, find a hotel or something, you might be staying here for a while" Evvi said.
"Okay sir" I replied.
Viktor and I exited the room.
"I have a house here, in Moscow that you can stay in" Viktor said.
"I thought you lived in Siberia?" I asked.
"My family does, I keep them away from this world's shitty society by having them live in the middle of nowhere" Viktor replied.
We both walked outside of the Kremlin and towards the road, where Viktor called for a taxi. We drove down the beautiful city for a few minutes before entering a neighbourhood.
"I live in here" Viktor said.
I nodded in reply. Once the taxi pulled up to a smaller looking house, we got out of the cab and approached it. Viktor paid the cab driver and then lead me into his house.
"It's not the best, but it works" Viktor stated.
"Hey, all I need is the basics, nothing fancy!" I replied.
Viktor lead me to the guest room, and told me that I would be staying here. The guest room was located on the first floor, it had beige carpet, a bed, two dressers and a closet.
"This should work" I said.
"You need to rest a bit so you can heal, after that once General Evvi has everything we need in order; we can rescue Steven and kill Zarith" Viktor stated.
"...And William" I added.
"Anyone who's on his side really. Anyways, you should get some rest, I need to help General Evvi with some information gathering and planning. If you need anything, here's my phone number" Viktor handed me a piece of paper with his contact information. "There's food in the fridge and water in the tap, I have to go!"
He took off in a hurry, I just hope that we're able to bring Steven the justice he deserves, and give him closure to his pain and suffering. I sat down on the bed, still feeling exhausted and hurt from the previous events. I've lost track of how many days I have been here, and I wondered how hard the navy is looking to try to find me. I rested my sore body on the bed, and slowly dozed off into a nice deep slumber from there.
Tbilisi, Georgia - 24 Hours Later
Zarith's POV
"Sir, the Israeli and American governments are holding a meeting in Haifa about the car bomb that went off in Tel-Aviv" one of my soldiers said.
"Interesting, this has my attention! Forget the attempts on California and Alaska! We have bigger rewards to reap!" I smiled as I paced back and forth in the room.
"But sir! I thought you needed to fire a few test runs to see if there are any flaws? We can't just try something like this so soon!" The soldier replied.
"You have no idea what opportunities are coming our way! Why wait? We need to do this now! While we can!" I stated.
William walked in the room, wearing pajamas. His feet dragged across the floor and his eyes had bags in them, indicating that he was tired.
"William! Did you have a good sleep?" I asked.
"Yes sir! I was even comforted by my prized possession, that otter" William replied.
"You use him as a comforting toy I see" I inquired.
"I use him for everything! Slaves are a fantastic investment! If everyone owned one, then this world would be a better place! No more poverty as they would be enslaved to the rich and more money as the rich won't have to pay their slaves to do jobs. The world would simply thrive!" William happily shouted.
"You can keep your voice down you know," I smiled. "After I'm done doing what I have to do, then one day, in the future, slavery will arise again! But that's not my main focus you see, I want justice! Slavery can be your department William, since you seem to fathom it so much."
"I would love to see a day where this world would see legal slavery again, it's just so beneficial!" William stated.
"Well, since you love it so much. I might give you a little more, as a reward for completing a task I have for you," I said.
"Really?" William asked.
"I was going to call you up soon but since you're already here I mine as well" I began. "In two days time; in Haifa, Israel, American and Israeli military powers are holding a meeting regarding our attack in Tel-Aviv. I need you and a team to go and strike that location" I explained.
"Is there a plan here? Or do we just run in with AKs and start screaming?" William joked.
That idea made me laugh, but it wasn't a bad one either, we might die in the process, but we would get our point across. My whole plan is to get my point across and have as many furs as possible follow me to true glory and justice!
"Sir! Breakfast is ready! I thought I would come down and tell you because I know how cranky you get when you don't eat!" another one of my soldiers interrupted.
"Thank you Private, we'll be down shortly!" I replied.
The soldier then returned to his duties, and I told everyone to go for breakfast. At the breakfast table, was almost everyone, except for the slaves, they ate in other room, where they were out of sight from us. For breakfast, we ate well, as today was an important day, a day where we would receive our supplies from ex-Georgian officials to help our cause. We were expecting a lot of support and armament from these guys, so I wanted to make sure that we were ready for a big day.
Breakfast was the usual; eggs, ham and Eggo waffles. We didn't eat too much but we had enough to satisfy ourselves until lunch, and then dinner. We have to haul a bunch of packages and supplies in... Well, I don't but my men do. I get to observe and supervise.
After eating our meals, the slaves cleaned up after us while we got ready for the shipment to arrive. I needed both my slaves and soldiers to do the hauling as there was simply too many packages for just the slaves to handle. I also needed it done quickly, as we were in a state of vulnerability whenever we had something on the move.
About eight big trucks pulled into the lot that we owned.
"That's a lot of stuff! Don't you think that the Georgian government will notice?" William pointed out.
"Hah! They already are aware of our presence! They're too corrupt to do anything! All you need is something to bribe the officials with" I replied. "And with the war going on here, it shouldn't be a problem!"
One of the truck drivers got out and approached me with a piece of paper, and a clipboard.
"I just need you to sign here to confirm that you have everything" he said.
I stroked the pen on that paper and then handed him the document, in which he safely compiled it within his jacket.
"Alright! Let's get these packages moving!" I hollered out.
One by one the furs got out of their trucks and helped everyone unload the packages and supplies into the building. Just then I thought that something had caught my eye, a dragon, he was tall and built, but I couldn't get a good glimpse of him as he was wearing a ball cap and a garbage man's suit. I tried stopping him but he walked too fast, and William cut me off to ask me a question.
"Sir! Where do you-" William was interrupted by gunfire and screaming.
Suddenly I heard the sound of Russian attack helicopters fly my way, and soon enough, four out of the eight total trucks were annihilated by the attack helicopters' missiles.
Out of nowhere three Russian tanks came smashing through our defensive walls.
"Kill 'em all!" I shouted.
I pulled my gun from its holster on my thigh and began firing upon the Russian soldiers.
"William! Get as many as you can rounded up! We're leaving NOW!" I commanded.
"Yes sir!" William's acknowledgement was barely audible as the gunfire was too loud, but I knew what he meant.
Max's POV
I removed my cap and Uzi from it's hidden holster within the garbage suit that I wore and began firing upon the Cevenda terrorists. It rained hell upon the compound as shelling and gunfire bombarded the building, my job was to escort any and all slaves out of the building. I especially looked for Steven.
I removed the garbage man suit until I was back to wearing that Russian military uniform. Running down the hallways of the building I could hear screams and gunfire.
"Steven!" I yelled. "Steven! Steven! Where are you!? Steven!"
I was more concerned about Steven than anyone else right now. I was caught in a gunfight between two Cevenda soldiers as I ran down the hallway, and took cover behind a crate. I fired five shots their way, and only two of them were hits, one bullet entered one soldier's thigh while the other ripped right through the other soldier's skull. The remaining soldier cried out in pain and began firing upon me again. Just as I was about to return fire, three Russian soldiers annihilated him with suppressive fire using their AKs, I swear there wasn't a bullet that didn't hit a single part of his body.
Blood painted the walls as more bullets continued to rip through both sides of the fight. I was lucky enough to avoid getting shot in another crossfire. The Cevenda soldiers used their slaves as living shields, so many innocent and unarmed civilians were killed. A grenade came my way, but I didn't play hero and try to throw it back, instead I ran to get out of the way. Shrapnel ripped through everything as it went off, and I heard ringing in my ears, the same ringing I heard when I crashed in Siberia.
A wall behind me came down when one of the Russian tanks fired one of their shells, I thought that it was better to get out of here, so I tried escaping from the scene. But before I evacuated, I saw William holding Steven at gunpoint. William smiled right at me, with his gun pointed right at Steven. If William can't have Steven, then no one can.
As I was about to make an attempt on William's life, I paused. I can't risk killing Steven, I convinced Viktor to call off a strike that would have prevented all this, and if Steven died right now, it would all be in vain. But the ceiling collapsed on them. I booked it over to the two of them, I didn't even care about killing William, as long as Steven was alright.
Rummaging through the rubble I saw that Steven was half-conscious. I picked him up and threw him over my right shoulder. I began walking as fast as I could while trying to escape the scene. My primary concern was Steven's well-being, I knew that he had been abused more than any other slave, as I had seen it first hand.
"Viktor!" I screamed out.
"What is it!?" He yelled back, trying to overcome the loud gunfire.
"I need to get him out of here safely! You can deal with William and Zarith and everyone else, I just care about Steven right now!" I explained.
"That's awfully sweet of y-" Viktor was cut off when a giant explosion rocked the entire compound, the building that I was just in was completely decimated.
"You need to get out of here now! We'll make sure that they're all dead! Go! Take him and go!" Viktor ordered.
I nodded in reply and ran towards one of the Russian transport helicopters that had arrived a bit late. The noise of the helicopter was too loud for verbal communication, so I handed Steven to them and hopped in the helicopter myself. A few more wounded Russian soldiers followed, until the helicopter was full. We took off and headed back north to Russia.
