5000 Septims
#1 of Septims
The first TFTG story I ever wrote and also the first one I ever posted on FA. Obviously I don't write in copyrighted settings anymore (I.E. fan fiction :/)
"And what are these supposed to be?" The apprentice alchemist asked, glancing at the offered alchemical ingredients that lay upon the table.
The Argonian standing across the young man shook his head and picked up one of the ingredients. Holding it up to the apprentice's face, he spoke in a raspy voice:
"This is a demon's heart."
The apprentice snorted. "It doesn't look like a daedric organ. It looks like a plant!"
"What would a Nord know of Daedra?" The Argonian snarled. "Or of alchemy atall?"
"More than a lizard!"
The Argonian slammed the ingredient onto the table. "Fetch me your master, apprentice! I will speak to one more knowledgeable!"
Though the Argonian was well muscled and carried a nasty looking sword, theapprentice did not seem scared of him at all.
"Oh no," The apprentice said, folding his arms across his chest as he sneered. "No, no, no. He doesn't have time for frauds."
"Fraud! You stupid smooth-skin! You don't even realize the deal I offer! I couldsell these for two hundred and fifty septims each yet--"
"Two hundred and fifty septims?" The apprentice exploded with laughter. "Neither I or my master would pay a septim for this detritus."
"Actually, Eitvaul, I am quite interested in this Argonian's offer." A new voicespoke from behind the Nord. At the sound of the voice the apprentice stiffened and turned to the newcomer, a Dunmer. Though shorter than the Nord, the dark elf obviously drew respect from the apprentice that had nothing to do with physical ability. Still, the apprentice could not help but protest the perceived unfairness.
"But master--"
"You have done more than enough, Eitvaul. Go organize our new garlic shipment. I will finish this transaction with our esteemed customer."
Defeated, the apprentice drooped his shoulders and nodded reluctantly. He exited, though not before giving the Argonian one last nasty glare. After the apprentice's departure, the dark elf sighed and walked towards the table.
"You'll have to forgive Eitvaul, Argonian." The master alchemist said as he examined the ingredients. "He is a good student, but he does not always recognize value."
"Then you'll buy them?" The Argonian asked hopefully.
"Of course not," The dark elf chuckled, picking up one of the ingredients. He stared into the Argonian's reptilian eyes. "These are not Daedra Hearts. These are Briar Hearts, worth a mere twenty septims each."
"Then what value--?"
"I do not think you just stumbled across these Briar Hearts. You have killed some Forsworn, yes?"
The Argonian nodded.
"Then the value is in your services. True, I do value the ingredients you brought me, but ingredients are not all that interest me."
The Argonian narrowed his eyes at the dark elf. "You want someone killed?Forsworn slain?"
"No," The Dunmer shook his head. "But some may die in the service I require of
you. You see, a forsworn Briar Heart has something I want and it's not his heart I am
after. This possession is priceless to someone such as I, but nearly useless to you. You
see--"
The Argonian cut off the Dunmer's words with a wave of his clawed hand. "Just
tell me what you want and how much you'll pay."
"Five thousand septims for a staff." The dark elf said, smiling at the look of surprise that came across the Argonian's face. "Yes, it's worth that much to me, and yes, I can pay you, but not until you retrieve it for me. You must realize that I offer so much because the object that I seek will entail some danger in its retrieval. However, I trust your previous experience--" He motioned to the Briar Hearts. "--will serve you well."
"There must be something more," the Argonian insisted.
"Of course," The dark elf said. "The staff is dangerous itself, but the savage who possesses it does not know of its power. Still, once you retrieve it, I would refrain from doing more with it than carrying it."
"All you require is that I retrieve a staff from a Briar Heart?"
"Essentially, yes. Since you understand so well--" The Dunmer paused. "I apologize, I do not know your name."
"Dreet," the Argonian said.
"Well then, Dreet," The dark elf extended his hand towards the Argonian. "Do we have an agreement?"
Dreet took the dark elf's hand and they shook.
A few days later, Dreet stood upon the outskirts of the Forsworn outpost that the Dunmer's directions had led him to. Though the journey had been cold and windy, the Argonian did not feel the least miserable. As he had gotten closer to the location, he had felt his lust for blood and dreams of gold overcome any of the travel's troubles. He could already imagine the coin clinking against his side as he walked away from returning to the staff. Still, he knew he needed to focus and keep aware. The Forsworn were tougher adversaries and Briar Hearts tougher, but he had slain plenty before. No, Dreet was more leery of the staff. He disliked how the dark elf had dodged any questions of why the staffmwas so important or what it did or why a Briar Heart even possessed it. It all seemed so strange and untrustworthy as magic always did to Dreet, but five thousand septime was five thousand septims.
As he drew closer to the outpost, he paused and sniffed. He not only smelled the stink of the Forsworn, but smoke as well as--was that cheese? He squinted his eyes, but he could see no Forsworn walking or standing among the wooden palisades. Could they have already moved on or been slain by someone else? Concerned, the Argonian kept one hand along his sword's hilt as he approached the palisades.
Once he stood in front of the palisades, the smell of cheese grew stronger as well as another scent--the smell of burnt flesh. Dreet put his back to the palisade and shimmied over until he stood on the edge of the gap between the wooden spikes. Heglanced into the encampment and saw something he hadn't seen before: a Forsworn crouched behind the skin of a cow stretched on a rack. Better yet, it was a Briar Heart, the Briar Heart he was looking for, and in the Forsworn's right hand was a staff. Around the Briar Heart were a strange assortment of objects: charred Forsworn bodies, a few sweetrolls, random pieces of armor, as well as a few blocks of cheese. Dreet didn't care why such things were there or why the other Forsworn appeared to be dead. Instead, he felt a rush of excitement overwhelm him before he began to focus on the terrain and how best he could approach the Briar Heart. If he moved carefully, he could avoid being seen until it was too late for the Briar Heart, not that the Briar Heart seemed to be paying much attention anyways--at the moment, he seemed to be perfectly content murmuring to himself and occasionally shaking the staff.
Dreet began to sneak towards the Briar Heart, moving slowly in case the Briar Heart was to suddenly change his behavior. Everything seemed to be going well until he drew close to the Briar Heart, hidden behind another animal's skin. At this point the Briar Heart got to his feet, but kept his back away from the Argonian.
"I know you are there," the Briar Heart giggled. "I want to see what will happen."
At this Dreet crouched completely still as he considered his options. Before he could make a choice, the Briar Heart turned towards the Argonian and lifted the staff. With a flourish, a ball of fire launched itself from the staff and towards Dreet's location. He was able to dive out the way just as the fireball impacted the animal skin and burst it into flames. Dreet drew his sword and glared at the Briar Heart. Hadn't the elf said the Briar Heart hadn't harnessed the staff's powers?
"Ooh, fire!" the Briar Heart giggled again. "You are lucky you did not burn." The
Briar Heart looked down at the charred remains of his comrades. "They did."
Dreet response was a cry and a charge towards the Briar Heart. The Briar Heart
giggled once more, leveled the staff, and fired a blue ball of energy towards the
Argonian. This mystic sphere moved faster than the fireball before it and so struck Dreet.
Thrown backwards, the Argonian lost his grip on his sword and he landed on his back
with a grunt.
"That's it?" the Briar Heart asked, clearly disappointed.
That, however, was not it. Dreet's body began to convulse as the magic continued to not only affect him, but change him as well. His scales shimmered as they transitioned from rough green to a smoother red. Dreet brought his shaking hands towards his face as they became less worn and more slender. His whole body was affected as he subtly shrank somewhat, his arms, chest, and legs losing their muscled tone, becoming smoother and more slender. Dreet could do nothing while his hips cracked and widened and waist pinched inward, leaving him with an overall more curvy form. Worst and most torturous of all was the feeling in his groin as he felt something tug at his genitals and then all he could feel down there was a void. Before he could worry about this, though, two mounds upon his upper chest began to form. Dreet felt uncomfortable and new sensations as these two orbs pushed and strained against his leather chestpiece. When the changes finished, Dreet started to get to his feet only to realize too late that the Briar Heart was now standing over him.
"Hmm," the Briar Heart mused. "I didn't know you were female."
"I'm not--" Dreet began to protest before covering his mouth at the sound of his
voice. It was no longer as deep, but higher and lighter.
"We'll see," the Briar Heart chuckled. "But one more."
Dreet yelped as the Briar Heart lowered the staff towards him and fired another sphere of energy at him, this one green. The Argonian tried to roll away, but his now ill-fitting armor was not conducive to this movement and he was unable to avoid the projectile. Dreet whimpered and closed his eyes, unwilling to witness what would happen to himself next. This time, however, there was no feeling except one of lightness. The Argonian opened his eyes and glanced toward his outstretched arm, an arm now naked and no longer covered by a leather sleeve. Fearfully, he glanced towards the rest of his body and saw that not only was he completely naked, but also the full extent of the changes the first projectile had wrought.
The first thing Dreet noticed was that the mounds were what he had feared them to be--fully formed breasts and a generous size too. In the cool Skyrim air the naked nipples were erect and sensitive. Though he was fain to do so, Dreet shifted his gaze past his large breasts, beyond his flat stomach and to his crotch, where a perfectly formed flower of womanhood lay, the tiny nub of a clitoris the only remainder of his once proud manhood. The Argonian whimpered as he realized he could no longer deny being a she.
Dreet's unfamiliar breasts swayed as she attempted to stand. Just as she was about to get to her feet, she felt someone grab her tail from behind. Having almost forgotten about the Briar Heart in her need to face reality, Dreet panicked and instinctively kicked towards the Forsworn and was fortunate enough that she struck the Briar Heart in an organ she no longer possessed.
The Briar Heart howled and clutched at his bruised genitals as Dreet stumbled to her feet. She quickly glanced behind her to the pained Briar Heart and then forwards to where her sword lay. She dove towards the weapon and landed uncomfortably on her breasts. Gritting her teeth and cursing her new assets, she gripped the sword and rolled towards the still recovering Briar Heart. Before he could do anything, the Argonian struck with all the might her weakened body possessed and cut his briar heart in twain. With a groan the Briar Heart fell backwards, dead.
Breathing heavily, Dreet got to her feet and looked down at the Briar Heart, then to the staff, and finally to her new body. Sighing, Dreet dropped the sword and bent towards the staff. She picked it up and examined it, noticing it was relatively lightweight and topped by a carving of the gaping mouth of a madman. Though she was tempted to use it in hope it might reverse her condition, she glanced around the Forsworn outpost and was reminded of the consequences of the use. Though she hated to hold the staff, it was what she had come for. Even if she could not recognize herself, the dark elf would surely recognize the staff and to him it was worth five thousand septims. Dreet did not know if that was enough to reverse her condition or if she could even be as she once was, but five thousand septims was five thousand septims.
