#1 of Credence

Edited, still need to edit more. I switched the lab portions to only chapter one and the parts with Ariana into chapter two, seems to make more sense that way.

"Welcome to Flashpoint Incorporated Mr. Roberts. I take it you're here to test the Neurologic game system?"

Jonathin was somewhat confused when the lady at the front desk knew who he was, and why he was here at this game developing corporation headquarters. Flashpoint Incorporated was at the forefront of developing the most technilogically advanced gaming systems and this one would change the face of gaming, or at least that's what he was told.

"Umm yeah, I'm supposed to meet Jory Stanton in 5 minutes."

The receptionist pressed a button and over an intercom that rang through the entire building, her annoying voice was amplified and crawled under his skin.

"Mr. Stanton, a Mr. Roberts is here to see you at the front desk, Mr. Stanton, to the front desk."

Jon scratched his ears trying to get her voice out of his head when a very tall and skinny man buzzed in through a sliding glass door to the right of the front desk. He could have swore that if this guy was any more nerded out that he could be a mathmetician working for a space program. Big glasses included. Thankfully his voice was actually quite normal as he reached out to shake Jon's hand

"Hi, I'm Jory Stanton head of research and development of the Neurologic system, you can just call me Jory."

Jon shook his hand and was surprised a little by his grip, as nerded out as this guy was he could already tell that this man was an honest and straightforward person."

"I'm Jonathin Roberts, so what's this new game system that's supposed to revolutionize gaming?"

Jory gave a glance at the receptionist and had a peculiar look, like he didn't want her to overhear so he started guiding Jon to the door he just came though. With a flash of his ID card the door buzzed open and they were inside what looked like a normal office building except for a very complex and fancy looking circular glass room with what looked like a labratory chair and innumerable computers, monitors, and wires around the room.

"Sorry about that, when it deals with product of this importance I prefer to keep as few people in the loop as possible. Better safe than sorry."

Jon shrugged his shoulders and supposed it was understandable. Given the magnitude of what's set up in that glass room he stomach started tingling with excitement at what that just might be in there.

"No worries, so is that the system over there?

Jory was glad to change the subject, and conveniently everything was set and ready to go for its first trials.

"You would be correct. I wont bore you with all the technical specs, so I'll simplifiy it for you. This new gaming system will actually plug you into the game, and it's set and ready to go as soon as you are."

Jon stopped and stared wide-eyed for a moment, plug you into the game? The name for the system made sense now, and he was never more ready for anything in his life.

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be."

"Great. Now I'll be plugging you into a fantasy realm. Lizard people, wizards, dragons, all that fancy stuff. Your character profile is already created, sorry, but we need to make sure that this works first. After that you can start working on variations and different classes and whatnot. You'll be playing as a male elf named Seloran. The game will guide you through the beginning, just don't get lost.

Half of everything that Jory was telling Jon was going in one ear and out the other. He hadn't even realized that they were already in the glass room and that he was being seated in the chair in the middle. Medical equipment came out and was being attachedto random spots on his body and head, and then the helmet was fitted over his head. At this point his heart was racing and he had no idea what was going on or what to do and in an instant his vision was blinded by the most intense white light before everything turned black.

Alarms on the heart monitor that the medical staff placed on him started going off and the brain monitor showed no activity. A steady monotone beap rang throughout the room and all else was silent as everybody realized that the system had just cooked his brain and killed him

"Jory, JORY, you need to see this.

Jory was in shock and in a daze walked over to the voice and saw what his fellow researcher was seeing.

"Didn't we set Jon up to be a male elf?"

"Umm....yeah, who's she?"

On the monitor a very noticably female humanoid lizard lay on her back, unconscious, wearing nothing but what appeared to be a cloth sack for clothing, and she was breathing. Jory looked back at Jon's body on the table, and then back to the monitor.

"What have we done?

"What are we going to do about Jon?"

Jory slumped down on leather computer chair and cupped his face in his hands. Sighing he looked at Jon's body, lifeless and the monotone of the equipment suddenly the key focus of his problems.

"Shut off that infernal contraption, Brian is Jon responsive in the game?"

A nurse shut off the medical devices and Brian, the programming expert clicked away on multiple keyboards dashing to and from different monitors and occasionally referring to the big on on the wall and then checked a stone slab sitting next to one of the computer towers. The archaic rune inscribed in its center was glowing bright blue. A couple more checks and he just kicked back in his chair dumbfounded.

"It's not responding at all."

Jory looks up and over at Brian, at first confused and then steadily getting angry. Not necessarily at Brian but at the situation.

"What do you mean it's not responding?"

"The software I used was supposed to work in tandem with the rune to create a fantasy world. It was either that or this 'game' wouldn't have been even testable for another year at the earliest. Somehow this rune though, the computers activated it and took Jon's consciousness."

"Where? That doesn't look like the game you had prepped a couple days ago for the preliminary testing."

"Because it's not a game, we opened a dimensional rift or something because where Jon is at, is real."
