#16 of Poems

A poem I wrote for a dear friend of mine who is struggling with a lot of grief and fear back home

All that has died will rise again, the ashes no longer bound to fate

The tears of centuries long forgotten will cascade down a waterfall

But in that timeless eternity spent, there is one thing that remains to date

That love and companionship, the real powers of this world

Will never, ever fall

For even in the darkest hours, in the coldest corners of the world

They will provide both the joy of warmth and peace of light

Their hallowed call to all who remember them unfurled

Shall give unrelenting strength to those who choose to fight

Victory is never quickly achieved, it is an ever bloody battle

The swords of one side clash with the sabres of another

The wars fought for figurative greed and power over the rabble

We shall fight against the bitter fangs of the night

For we are more than friends, my brother.
