The Prince and the Dragon 4- Elizabeth
#4 of The Prince and the Dragon
FINALLY, after a month of nothing posted here but bored Photoshop pictures, here's another installment of The Prince and the Dragon!
--Vincent--
"Um, excuse me" I say aloud to the oblivious dragon already walking up the stairs.
"Yeah, what?" he said, not looking over his shoulder.
"I'm not sure how stairs are supposed to work with _this"_I say, motioning to my lower body.
"You have a point. Damn, this is going to be more complicated than I thought" the dragon said, now looking like he was trying to think something out.
"I could carry you up." He said
"U-uh, yeah... sure" I stammer out, my faux human face blushing bright red. The dragon walked down the few steps he had already taken and scooped me up in his surprisingly strong arms.
--Quentin--
I take the teen in my arms and begin my ascent of the primitive stairs, the stone cold against my feet. The staircase looks like it goes on for maybe three hundred feet, like one of the old earth Germanic castles. The style is even similar to one, I guess that humans will follow pretty much the same path no matter where they are.
"How are you holding up?" I ask the snake man in my arms.
"Alright, I guess" He answers, looking a bit solemn.
"What's wrong?" I ask, the question filled with genuine concern.
"It's nothing, just, it's so weird. All of a sudden I'm part snake and a se--friendly dragon guy is carrying me up to my house for the last time." He said, blushing a bit as he finished.
"Well sometimes we have to take big changes in stride" I say, remembering how unaccustomed I was to life outside of an orphanage when my parents adopted me. Even now I still find myself doing some things differently than most.
"And it can also help to have someone there to guide you through big changes"
"Yeah, I guess you're right. So how are we going to explain to my dad that I'm a giant man-snake?" he asks, trying to change the subject.
"Well, I'll probably pose as some sort of powerful being, you know; whisk the kings son away, cast some phony curse, the works of any fairytale but I'm not actually evil. Mostly" I say, winking at the end to lighten the mood.
"Hmm, sounds like a reasonable plan." He says back with equal humor in his voice.
"Alright, time to slither along yourself now." I state as I reach the top of the stairs, I let him down slowly and pat him on the shoulder once he is situated.
"You ready?" I ask him seriously.
"As ready as I'll ever be" he said slightly nervously.
--Vincent--
I lead Quentin to the throne room where my father was most likely sitting, giving out orders and making sure everything he planned happened.
"Thank you for coming with me" I say gratefully.
"No problem Vincent, it is kind of my responsibility since I said to stop here and see what happened." He answered a bit bashfully.
"Well, let's go" I say, pushing the large doors open, and like I predicted, my father was sitting on his large throne barking orders to a poor peasant woman.
"Father?" I say, trying to get his attention.
"Vincent! Where have you been? You have had the entire kingdom worried sick!" the imposing man yelled at me as he stood and waved the poor woman off.
"I should have your room guarded and your windows sealed so you don't go on another joy ride again!" he said sternly as he began to walk towards me, most likely to scold me. Quentin steps out from behind the door once my father is halfway across the posh room.
"Sorry to say it, but that won't be happening any time soon." The human looking dragon said with a snarky tone.
"And why not? I doubt your authority is nearly as great as mine! Do you know who I am?!" my father responded with a loud voice.
"Of course I know who you are, you are the father of this boy and the king of this land. This matters not though since your child is a son of the gods, and that's who he belongs to. Now he will come with me to live a proper life with more of his own." The cloaked dragon said with a booming and dominant voice.
"You are not a god, and it is one of the greatest sins to claim to be so! The gods skins are of magnificent colors and glisten as if they were made of water, you have neither of those attributes heretic!" my father shouted at the confident dragon, who was now reaching for the strange paper that made him seem human and rips it off. His skin ripples back to his dragon form and he turns to my father.
"How dare you mortal! Calling one of your highest powers a heretic! Now you Vincent, show you father how magnificent your godly form is!" he said loudly as if in shock that my father would call him something like that. I reach for the paper on my skin and take it off in a similar fashion to the dragon. My skin ripples back to my black scales and I look to my shocked father.
"I apologize my god, please spare my unclean soul and leave me to repent my wrong-doings!" my father says as he drops to his knees and bows.
"You are forgiven, this once. Call your best servant, we need to procure your sons material needs." the dragon says with disgust.
"Certainly my lord" my father says with haste. He then proceeds to call in Elizabeth to escort me and the dragon to my former room. When she comes in she stands still in the shock of seeing me and Quentin standing there.
--Elizabeth--
As I walk into the room to the urgent sounding call from the king I am greeted by a sight I never really expected to see, there were two gods just standing there. After a few seconds of staring I realize that I am being extremely rude by not curtsying to these beings of great power and wisdom.
"M-my apologies, great ones." I stammer out as I move to curtsy.
"No worries my good woman; and you don't need to curtsy to me or my companion, we are just passing through to gather this boys material items for his journey to the realm of the gods" the lithe purple and blue dragon god said.
"Of course my holiness, but what do you need of me, a lowly servant woman?" I ask as something begins to itch in the back of my head, I'm definitely missing something here.
"I understand that you were a servant to this young man here, and one of his best friends as well while he was one of you." The dragon god said politely.
"It can't be, is that really you Vincent? You look so different..." I say as I begin to inspect the black snake god more closely than before, and I did notice some things that looked similar to Vincent, mostly the face though because the body's muscle proportions were _very_different.
"If it's not too much of a bother to you miss, we would like to start packing for Vincent soon." The dragon god said with much kindness in his voice.
"Y-y-yes of course, right this way" I say with a blush, realizing I've been staring for too long of a time.
--Quentin--
If there was one thing that I now knew about this servant, it was that she is adorable, and she's polite, well I guess that's two things... Oof!
"Oh my goodness I'm so so sorry your holiness, I didn't mean to bump into you I just thought you saw me stop and-"
"Shh, it's alright, I wasn't paying attention" I say to the stammering, panicking maid. This seems to calm her a bit, but not by much. What did she think I was going to do, vaporize her with my godly powers? Maybe.
"Um, uh, we're here sir." She said, still nervous.
"Thank you very much Elizabeth, could me and your prince have a minute to talk alone while you begin to collect his outfits?" I ask with a low, easy tone. I hope that with a nice voice I can calm her down a bit.
"Certainly" she said quickly as she moved briskly into the room and shut the door. Man, she was really terrified.
"Do you want her to come with us?" I ask Vincent.
"Do you think that she's ready for it?" he asks me after a bit of thinking.
"You seemed to handle it pretty well, didn't you?" I said back matter of factly
"I guess you're right, and yeah it would be nice to bring her along because she's almost like a mother to me." He said with a new spark in his eyes.
"Well go break the news to her snake boy!" I say, he nods and moves into the room where I can see the maid laying clothes onto the bed from a large wardrobe. I take this chance to pull out my phone and send a quick text to my parents letting them know we're bringing another person home with us.
"But surely I'm not worthy or this honor prince Vincent!" I hear the nervous maid say from the room, well I guess it's time to go tell her we aren't really gods.
