I promised things would escalate. We also get to define who each character is more with each passing chapter. There is nothing more boring than having two loving characters who are copies of each other. Again I'm drawing on personal experience here. Sorry if the musical technicality is a bit heavy, but I'm going for realism here. I do throw puns in every now and then if you can find them ;-) I hope you enjoy!

Ch. 3 Strum und Drang

**

"No! You have GOT to stop thinking like a guitarist!"

Dalten almost shouted at Rick. It was Weds. He'd made no progress on his composition, he had no idea what was going on between him and Rick, and Rick was being a typical guitarist.

"What!?" Rick looked up angrily at Dal.

"You keep thinking in circle of fifths. That's fine if you're not going to go beyond, oh I don't know, Pachabel's Cannon in D, but on a keyboard, you have chromaticism, scales, modes."

"So what do you want ME to do about it?"

Dal paused putting the guitar gently on it's stand and calmed himself. Yelling wasn't going to get the young pup where he wanted to be. So....he'd have to try something else.

"Ok, so, no more black keys on this one. Stick to Aeolian mode."

"A---what?" Rick looked puzzled. His hands hovered over the harpsichord's keyboard.

Dalten counted to 10 in his head, rubbing his eyes and shaking his mane.

"You do know the modes right? Ionian, known as a major key, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolian, and locrian?"

"Um, well yes, on the guitar...." Rick responded his tail trembling between his legs.

"Right, so on a piano....."

Dal kept his mind on the lesson, explaining how the modes made up for different tones. He caught himself before he waxed into a discussion on the differences between natural tuning and even tempered tuning, and finally it seemed as if Rick was getting the point. There was more to a keyboard than just the same notes on a guitar. They had different ways of playing as well as different ways of sounding.

Rick launched into an Aeolian mode tune, adding a simple counterpoint.

Dal listened, his ears twitching. It was banal. It was baroque. Not bad for lesson one, but this was lesson two. Rick finished.

"Passable. Now.....Aeolian on the main melody and lydian in the counterpoint."

"How.....?"

Dal counted to twenty and motioned Rick to abandon his post at the borrowed harpsichord. He quickly adjusted the seat and sat back down.

"Like this...."

Dal played a similar piece, with dual modality under his fingers. It was an acquired taste for sure, but one that would open the pup's ears. He glanced at Rick. The slender young dalmatian had his ears cocked and looked inquisitive but was frowning.

Dal finished, and relinquished the seat back over to Rick who tried again.

**

Rick fumed. He appreciated the lessons, he did not appreciate the attitude. Dal was kind, gentle, and nice, outside of lessons, but almost rude, blunt, and hurtful during lessons. He made his way through the improvisation, his ears flattening as some of the notes didn't sound right to him, but were contrapuntally correct, and finished.

"Not bad, it could be better. Now try Lydian and Mixolydian."

Rick sighed and continued through the exercise. His ears went tight against his head as he heard Dal begin in on the guitar in yet another mode. Something chromatic. It burned in his brain. The colors were too sharply contrasted, but he kept playing. He ignored the guitar.

Big mistake.

**Whap

"OW!" Rick stopped and looked up hurt.

"When I say stop, stop. You kept playing." Dalton loomed over him and snorted in derision.

"You didn't have to flick my ear!" Rick rubbed his ear.

Dal rubbed his eyes and sat down.

"Why did you tune me out then?"

Rick thought before he answered. Because it sounded like crap is not the right answer.

"Because I didn't like how it sounded. It was too much in here.." he pointed to his own head. "That chromatic stuff was not making any sense to me."

"Ok good, you're giving me a valid reason. Why didn't it make sence?" Dal stared at him.

"It didn't fit the counterpoint."

"So why not change the counterpoint to fit the chromaticism?"

"Well....for one it didn't occur to me, and for another, I don't think that's my style."

Dal grinned.

"Good answer, and I think that is enough for a day. Truce?" Dal extended his hand. Rick took it tentatively.

"Truce."

**

Dal hated himself. He had to push the younger canine to his limits to find out what they were, or he would not be a good teacher. He'd only be a facilitator. He hated that term. It meant someone who allowed someone else to copy. A teacher, or mentor, molded their students. Rick was good, but not good enough yet. Dal was fine if chromaticism didn't fit the pup's style. That was fine. It wasn't everyone's cup of tea. Even Ives had been derided for his dual tonalities back at the turn of the 20thcentury.

"So can I get you a drink to make up for all of that?" Dall clopped into the kitchen, already sure of the answer.

"Sure" came the reply from his living room.

Dal poured two generous glasses of white wine, and walked back in to the living room.

"I'm sorry if it seems I'm a monster at times Rick, you just have so much potential it irks me when you do something so....so......normal."

Rick gaped at him.

"Normal? Like tune you out?"

Dal shook his mane, a nervous habit. "No normal as in mundane. You tuning me out was fine, you gave me a great reason. Its when you stick to what is expected that irks me."

Rick snickered...."this coming from a stud who can't stand up to his mom about having kids...."

Dal shot him a look. "Play nice now..."

Rick glared back. "I am. All is fair you know. And this is not a war by the way. Have you heard from them yet?"

Dal glanced at his hooves and the floor. "Yes. They had a million questions about you."

"Oh? What did you tell them."

"That we're friends, good friends, and that we're finding our way yet." Dal snorted. He didn't want to bring up the other parts of the conversation. Ken had told him that his mother and father wanted to meet Rick. That was a laugh. Meet as in give him the fifth degree then dismiss him out of hoof.

He took a big gulp of wine and savored the sweet taste.

"There's more isn't there?" Rick asked. Dal couldn't meet his eyes.

"Yah, there is."

"They want to meet me don't they?"

**

Dal's head shot up as he stared at Rick. Rick was not at all surprised his guess had hit home. From what little he'd seen of the Taylor family, subtlety was not one of their defining traits.

"How did you..." Dal's ears when back and his mane bristled

"Easy. Your family is not one to beat around the bush are they. Perfectly direct people. My mom and dad though, they'd just baffle you. I can put two and two together and get four you know." Rick smiled taking a sip of the wine. It was sweet. A little too sweet, but it still was refreshing.

"You're right you know." Dal rumbled finishing off his glass and pouring another. "They - we are stubborn. I know Ken would be a steadying influence, and dad is pretty easy going, but mom wants to have a field day with you. And not in a good way. Ever play 20 questions?" Dal snorted taking another gulp of wine. "Try two hundred. If they still allowed polygraph tests, she'd have you wired up in a heartbeat."

Rick snorted.

"I'm serious." Dals voice went an octive deeper. Rick knew that when that happened something was troubling the big horse. "She's going to rip you a new one, and I don't know if I could let that happen to you...I mean..."

Rick put his hand over Dal's muzzle silencing him.

"Dal, don't you think that's my choice?" Dal shook his head.

Rick grasped the horses head tightly.

"Well it is, and I say yes. Besides, like I said....you haven't met my mom and dad yet.

**

Rick put his guitar on it's rack and greeted his roommate, Seth. "Hey Seth, how was the family."

The cheeta chuckled. "Oh you know, totally not ok that I'm straight still. Pop and dad are furious. They think I should settle down with you, not that friend of yours Val. Where is she by the way?"

Rick laughed loudly. Val, the feline violinist and his roommate had hit it off when he had introduced them at the beginning of the semester. Seth's fathers thought he should be more like them. Gay. The irony was not lost on him.

"Probably in class. Give her a call, I know you want to go...ah...see her..." Seth chuckled, bring her name up on his phone as he walked out the door.

Rick put his backpack on his bed and began to pull out his tablets and notes.

BeepBeep:

Speaking of the devil. I mention them today, and here they are. Oh joy.

Rick made his way to the video screen and hit the answer button. The bald human head of his father stared at him with a smile. "Hey son!"

"Hi dad."

"How are you? How's school?"

"It's ok."

"Ok!? Just ok?" His mom asked in the background. His father, Agustus shrugged. "He said it's ok dear, leave him alone."

Rick chuckled.

"Hi mom!"

Hi mom's spotted fur appeared in the screen, her brown eyes almost perfectly matching her human mate's. "Hi sweetie. Have you found a boyfriend yet?"

"Mom!"

"You do know she's not joking right?" His father smirked.

"Yes I know mom, I have, a...friend."

"Son, Three of your brother's are already mated, two have pups on the way, and you're the oldest at 23!"

"Mooom....I know. You're sounding too much like Dal's mom."

"Who?" His canine mom cocked her head to the side....

"Dalten Taylor. He's my friend. I was privy to a family chat of his. I think I'm invited over for the weekend."

His mom couldn't hide a huge canine grin.

"I KNEW it! Didn't I tell you Augie! He'd find someone...."

"Mom...please....you're giving me a headache." Rick closed his eyes wincing.

"Sorry dear."

"No it's fine." Rick opened his eyes, his mother gone from the screen. His father frowning.

"Dalten Taylor? As in the composer - the EQUINE composer?"

"Yes dad....we're just friends." Rick was getting a feeling he knew what his friend had gone through that day.

"Well be careful son. They're bigger than canines if you know what I mean."

"DAD!"

"Well they are son. I'm just reminding you...." Augustus looked like he was enjoying making his son nervous.

"DAD!"

"Although lube wont be a problem from what I hear from rumor....."

"Augustus! Leave him alone." His mother shouted in the background. His father smirked.

Rick just moaned.

"Just be careful son. They're also stubborn as all hell. Once they set their sights on something, they never let up. Just like real horses."

"Tell me about it!" Rick groaned. He'd been doing his best to keep things easy between Dal and him, but it was taking all of his strength to not let things get too heated.

"Well glad all is well, keep in touch son!"

The screen went black. Just like his father. To the point, blunt, and quick. Rarely did Rick ever get a chance to say goodbye on his own. But his dad had given him an idea. Rick grinned evilly.

**

Chorus in on measure 64, now the basses in Latin, the tenors in German, the Altos in English, and French, Baritones.....we'll hold off on other languages for now....lets see....

Dal worked furiously. His Thursday had only been broken by a quick snack for lunch. He'd have to head to the gym soon to work off his energy. Working too quickly on a piece could spell disaster. If he didn't take a break soon he'd keep working until he passed out, and at that his last hour of work was usually rubbish. A glance at the clock on his computer showed it to be only 2:30 in the afternoon. He'd stop right after the chorus was complete.

knock*knock*knock*

Dalten sat upright and blinked his eyes. Someone was at his door? At this time? Rick's lesson wouldn't be until tomorrow and he wasn't expecting anyone. Sighing he put his pencil down and walked to the door ready to usher whoever it was away.

Rick stood in the door frame smiling, his hands shyly behind his back.

"Rick?" Dalton was confused. He was sure it was Thursday. Plus the canine didn't have his guitar with him.

"I got out of class a little early today and thought you could use a distraction and we could NOT focused on music for a bit. Here"

Dalton stared. A dozen roses. He looked from the flowers to Rick, his chest tightening. He was confused and excited at the same time.

"Um...for me!?" His eyebrows rose. His voice almost squeaked.

"Yes, and are you going to just let me cool my heels out here or can I come in?" Rick had a lopsided grin on his face.

**

Rick chuckled inwardly. His dad was right. They really were one minded. Get one of those equine brains on a track and they become so hard to steer. However, in Rick's opinion sometimes a hammer worked a lot better than a subtle hint.

"Um...yes....I mean Yes! Come in that is..." Dal stammered. He looked like he was absolutely stunned.

Perfect. He won't know what hit him.

Dal took the roses and closed the door, quickly rushing into the kitchen. He came out a few seconds later, the roses stuffed into a very large beer mug with water. He placed them on the windowsill.

"They...they're beautiful, um, thanks."

Rick walked over and sat on the middle of the couch.

Come on horsey, be polite and join me....there you go....

Dalton sat down next to Rick.

"Um, so what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?"

"Several things. First off I tried calling three times and got no answer, so I figured you were in the throes of composition. Second, we should see each other outside of lessons if this is going to go anywhere, and lastly, I missed your company." Rick glared at his paw cleaning one claw meticulously.

Thats right stud.....the carrot is right there....just move forward a tiny bit....

**

Dal was recovering. "Missed my company? After I tortured you during lessons? You missed me?" Dal laid his arm along the back of the couch.

"Well I don't miss you being a prick of a teacher, but I did miss your company. And besides, if this is going to go anywhere don't you think we should at least date and spend time together?" Rick grimaced as he found a bit of dirt in his paw. His instinct was to lick it, instead he just brushed it on his pants.

Dal let the words sink in. He wants to date me. He wants to DATE me. I haven't been on a date in years, what do I do?

"So ah...what do you want to do? Dinner? Movie?" Dal could barely keep the tremor out of his voice.

Rick gave him what could only be an old fashioned look. "That's for first dates, we've already done dinner, though a movie would be nice. Why not watch one here? You DO have that rather expensive video screen after all. Just move it so we can watch it from the couch."

"Um sure...." Dal stood up in a daze..

**

Rick could barely keep his laughter in. He watched as Dal obediently walked over, hefted the huge screen from the wall and moved it to the other wall in front of the couch, a task that would have taken two or three canine folks of Rick's size. The equine bent over to adjust the wiring. Ricks eyes took in the sight. Dal's muscular back strained in that shirt. His rump was very powerful. His tail matched his chestnut mane in color but Rick thought he could see a light gray dappling right at the base of the tail and at the base of his back as his t-shirt rose a little.

Easy boy, take it slow. Don't rush too much. This is date number two. Or is it three? Rick was trying to keep his mind clean, but it was hard to do so with such a view in front of him. He desperately wanted to see how far that dappling went.

"There, any ideas on a movie?"

In the end they both picked a comedy and sat side by side on the couch. Around midway Rick let out a huge yawn and lay down with his head in Dalten's lap. Soon after he could feel that strong hand stroking his neck.

**

Dal looked down at the snoring dalmatian. He was beautiful. Lithe, strong, and very sweet. He couldn't deny that he was falling for the canine any more. He smiled softly so himself. The dalmatian flicked an ear ever so lightly. The movie had ended almost an hour ago, but Dal couldn't bring himself to wake Rick up. He just ran his fingers through the neck fur.

He's right, we do need to take things slow. At least emotionally. I have been hard on him, but I do have to say that having him here just feels right. I won't read into it any more than that.

Rick opened one eye lazily and smiled. "Don't stop, please that feels too good."

Dalten laughed deep in his chest. "I don't plan on it. You missed the ending by the way. It was hilarious."

"Oh I didn't miss it, I was enjoying this too much."

Dalten put two and two together. "You planned this didn't you? A movie at home so you could curl up in my lap?"

Rick chuckled. "Well I hope not just curl up in your lap really...."

Dalten's eyes were wide his brow wrinkled in thought.....

"Say what now?"

Dalten felt a finger slide gently up his thigh. He tensed, but it felt so good. Suddenly Rick's paw was on his bulge...massaging it ever so lightly. Dal could feel his length begin to slide from his sheath.

"Um....Rick?"

"Mmmm?" Dal glanced down....Rick's muzzel was inches away from his crotch. He knew the canine was taking in his scent.

"It isn't that I don't appreciate what you're doing....but.....I am really going to have to re-adjust here in a minute."

"Mmmm?" Rick looked mesmerized. Dal snorted.

"On your feet pup. I'm not going to be a prisoner in my own clothing."

The dalmatian sprang to his feet laughing. Quickly, before things could get too hard for him, Dalten unhooked his belt, undid his jeans and slid them down.

Ahh....much better...he let himself lower.

**

_Oh my lord._Rick stared. Nothing anyone could have told him would have prepared him for this moment, and for an instant he was sorely frightened.

And turned on.

And then not frightened at all as he saw the look on the equines face.

Dalten stood naked from the waist down. His flaccid tool was quickly hardening, and dropping. It was mottled pink and black, and Rick now knew where the dappling went. A thin line of dappled grey fur wound from Dal's belly to his sheath. His huge balls were of the same dappling,

Rick stared.

Dalten turned around and took off his shirt. His muscular form had the dalmatian very flustered.

And leaking.

"Damnit!"

Quickly Rick removed his own pants and shirt, his tail tucking between his legs. This was no time to be modest. He was very much a leaker, and didn't want to have to ruin his clothing. Besides he doubted Dalten would have anything that would even fit him.

**

Dal turned around to take his shirt off. He knew he was putting on a show for Rick. He had always been a tease. The beach, running, even at the gym. He knew how imposing he looked. Right now he wanted to make sure the canine got an eyefull.

"Damnit!" Rick yelled.

Dal slowly turned around, his hands on his hips, almost laughing as the canine stripped himself bare in seconds, his pink rod quickly emerging from his sheath. It oozed with precum.

"Sorry about that pal." Dal grinned pointing to the leaking member. "Was that on my account?"

Rick bared his fangs, "you know very well it is!"

Dal took in the sight of Rick standing nude in all of his glory. His spots were thick on his chest and abs, and a light white patch divided his torso in two, bare of any spots. Dal was very impressed at the canine's member. If he had any size consciousness it was unwarranted. Dal didn't think he'd seen a bigger member on a canine before.

"Woof! You're hot."

**

Rick blushed. "Look who's talking. He quickly padded over to Dal. His head only came up to the broad equine chest. Each pec was very defined and stood out in perfect releaf. Rick glanced down. Dal's thick equine cock was drooling continuously. He gulped. "Um...just how big are you?"

Dal nickered. "About 8 foot, four hundred pounds." A paw slapped him gently on the chest. "You KNOW what I mean....Dal....that has got to break some type of a record."

Dal nickered again blowing out his nose in embarrassment. "Well, if I said 16 inches in length and 8 in girth would you believe that?" Rick nodded staring at it.

"You aren't even hard are you?"

"Not yet...."

Dal leaned down and took the dog's muzzle in his mouth and kissed him deeply, passionately. Rick was timid at first, but gave back as good as he got. Both of their passions building, along with a thick puddle of pre at their feet. Equine and canine mixing together.

"Um....now....I think I'm hard" Dal whispered into the canine ear. Rick glanced down.

"Wow."

**

Dal stood back and gripped Rick's paw in his hand and led him slowly to the bedroom. He sat on the bed. Much better. This way he could look the canine in the eye almost evenly. He stole another kiss. He could feel his balls churning heavily as his pre now continuously leaked onto the side of his leg, his member standing straight out, hard as a rock. Rick broke the kiss and licked Dal's thick neck finding a sensitive spot on his side. Dal let out a deep groan. Slowly the canine worked his way down his shoulders, his chest, and his thick abs. The dalmatian seemed to be mesmerized by his dappled marking.

Dal closed his eyes just enjoying the feeling.

**

Rick inhaled deeply as his tongue worked over Dal. He was taking in every scent. His canine brain and nose working in concert to memorize every bit of Dal. There was a faint smell of horse flesh, sweat, dust, and cinnamon. No real human words could describe the actual scent. Suddenly he was faced with that dappled trail leading down. He nuzzled it gently with his nose. Dal sighed above him.

Rick stared at the equine member. He hefted it in his paws. It was huge. It was kind of scary. He'd bottomed before, but this would be a challenge for even the horniest of porn stars. Well I have time to work up to it I guess.

The sight of Dalten's huge sack made his mouth water. He placed the equine member on his shoulder and leaned down and lapped at the sack. The same scent assaulted his muzzle. Clean, lightly musky, and a touch of cinnamon.

"Ohhh" Dal rumbled. "Now YOU don't stop"

Rick's back was wet. He knew what was causing that. Dal's equine member was drooling all over him. The smell was thick, musty, and sweet.

As he lapped at those monstrous testicles he adjusted his own sheath. He was not small by any means. His own member was a good nine inches long and six thick. His knot on the other hand, well, it was much thicker. It was already forming at the base of his sheath and he pulled it free.

Slowly Rick pulled away from that delicious sack, and hefted the huge equine member to his face. A long line of pre ran from his shoulder to it's tip. He looked up at Dal. Dal's mouth was partly open, he was panting heavily. The warmth and need in his eyes burned into his own blue.

His eye was dawn to the slit of the huge cock in front of him. He inhaled it's musky sweet scent and lapped at the tip.

Oh....this is heaven...

**

Dal moaned. It rumbled deep in his chest. When Rick had looked into his eyes, he was captivated by those clear blue pools. He had a need burning in his loins, but he didn't want to be too lusty. Luckily the canine had his own ideas. The second that warm tongue hit the tip of his cock, he was in heaven and moaned loudly.

The dalmatian ran his hands to the tip, slicking them quickly in Dal's pre. The paw pads, now slick, ran down his turgid length, finding his medial ring, and giving it a squeeze.

Oh....thats.....he doesn't know does he? Thats a sweet spot....I....should I....warn....

Dal was almost incoherent in the mating feeling he was getting. He never felt this was with any woman or filly, but with Rick, he was mesmerized. He could feel the pre rush into his cock and gush into the warm dalmation maw. Rick moaned and lapped greedily at it.

I guess I don't have to warn him...

The canine worked him over well. He could feel a pressure building inside him.

"Uh...Rick?"

"mmmm?" came the muffled answer.

"Rick...if you don't stop...." Dal tried to warn his friend.

"mmmm!"

"Um...ok"

**

Rick dove down on him as far as he could. His lips met his medial ring, and Rick gently let his teeth massage it for a second. Dal's precum was flooding out now....with this he was not going to last long...

"Rick.....I.....oh!"

Suddenly his breath came heavy to his chest. The huge equine snorted. His hips involuntarily bucked a couple of times, he could feel his cock begin to flare, trapped in Rick's muzzle. Rick quickly popped off with an audible squelching noise.

Dal came. The first shit hit Rick in the chest. The second, his the dalmatian in the face, the third, fourth, fifth, and further shots went over his shoulder. Rick leaned in and laid his head on Dal's hard abs. The equine whinny from Dal was involuntary. It was also VERY loud. Rick could feel the cum run down his back. Warm and comforting.

_Wow can he cum!_Rick thought he'd seen some big cummers in his time. That bull in high school was champion, but Dal came, not in ounces, but in quarts. He'd put everyone to shame. Then again, Rick had never been with an equine, let alone a Clydesdale stock equine. He leaned in his head to Dal's tummy as Rick shot his load. Rick had cum seconds before, smearing his own load on the bare wood floor. Dal whinnied VERY loudly. It sounded like a feral horse. It sent a shiver down his spine.

Dal collapsed backwards. Rick quickly found a towel in the bathroom and cleaned off his face chest and back. He then thought about trying to clean up the huge mess of pre and cum in both rooms and shrugged it off. I think I can see why he has hardwood floors. Hopefully this stuff doesn't stain and he has some type of protecting sealent there.

Rick padded back into the bedroom. Dal was slpayed out on the bed. Arms wide as if he was trying to hug the sky. A distant thumping came from the floor. Rick cocked his ears and thought he could hear an elderly female shout something about keeping it down.

"Everyone's a critic...Dal whispered falling asleep.

**

Dal awoke with a start. There was a warmth next to him. Rick was curled against his side, his head on Dal's thick chest, a puddle of warm drool matted his fur. Dal sighed. He'd get used to it.

"Rick?"

"mmm?"

"Rick....I...ah....."

The canine didn't move an inch, but one ear flicked.

"Not yet Dal. Not yet you don't. That's the afterglow of lust. But if it means anything, I really really like you Dal, more than I probably should at this point."

Dal's chest tightened feeling very warm.

"Me too Rick."

That weekend is going to get here far too quickly.
