Taking place immediately after The Hunt Begins (occurring more or less concurrently with the rest of the stories in that arc) we return to Doctor Rebecca "Cherry pop" Stone as she recovers accompanying Burger World on a SALAD raid. Focusing on her friends and a few locations within the city, we explore her relationships with several other characters as she goes about her day off. And perhaps a door thought once shut will gradually open again.

Continuing after The Hunt Begins...

Rebecca "Cherry Pop" Stone stirred as her alarm went off in her apartment, signaling the start of a new day in Adipose City, bloated jewel of the New England sprawl. The slender, blond chubby chaser smile as she reached around and gently hugged the big, shaggy ball of bear fur that was Jennifer Moore. The ursine animan had dropped by to check on her after the Druggist joined Burger World in an operation on SALAD's research farms up in Worchester, an operation that ended with her encountering a PhysEd Consortium agent out of her nightmares. Yet as she was bluntly reminded later, the encounter could have gone worse. She escaped and he ended up captured by SALAD security forces, left at the tender mercies of one of their mad, lipid-obsessed scientists. He got a cell in one of SALAD's laboratories; she got a paycheck with a thank you note from Bazooka Betty, the feline Street Sumo leading the Burger World team.

And right now, the gruff, dominant Road Hog Jennifer Moore had come in to make sure she got her needed smack upside the back of the head before... well, Rebecca might have had a hard time believing that there was a caring side to the "large and in charge" queen bee personality of a she-bear nicknamed "Tank Ass" before last night but apparently even Moore could be a cuddle factory when she wanted to be. Stone let her delicate fingers trace the various camouflage patterns on the seat of the bear's pants, gently squeezing the soft, pliable flesh of Moore's couch consuming rump. Even by Adipose City's generally broad standards, the pear-shaped she-bear was on the wide side of the bell curve, taking up the entirety of a couch wide enough for two slightly smaller Adipose citizens or three people Stone's size.

"Uggh, why is your alarm going off so early?" The she-bear grumbled, rubbing her eyes as she slowly rose to her feet.

"This is actually late for me, usually the clinic is open by now." Rebecca yawned and massaged some feeling back into her legs after having been sat on by the ursine colossus for most of the night.

"Really? This early?" Moore asked with a yawn.

"Why yes, it's almost like I set my schedule around a bunch of lunatics that run around in the dead of night after most sensible people have long since gone to bed." Rebecca replied sarcastically.

"Point taken. Uggh, I'm going to go get some breakfast before I head in to work for a little bit. Want to come with me?" The she-bear asked as she gathered up her helmet and chest armor, enormous bottom wobbling as she waddled about the freelance medic's apartment.

"Maybe, where are you planning on going for breakfast?"

"Usually I just go to Phatstacks and cram in a deluxe breakfast platter on my way to work."

"No thanks, I think I'll just have something quick here and then go out. Do some people watching at the mall, call up one of my friends, visit a club of one kind or another." She replied, politely seeing Moore off before returning to her apartment. As she walked back through the entryway and into her kitchen, that nagging feeling of fear and helplessness she couldn't quite shake still lingered. Snarling at nothing in particular, she opened the refrigerator and pulled out the ingredients to make scrambled eggs. Today was definitely a scrambled eggs sort of day...

Someone once told Rebecca that the more things change, the more they stay the same. And as she thought about it a little bit walking into the mall, that probably could sum up the Zaftig Mall in downtown Adipose City. For all the advancements in technology, the changes in structural engineering necessitated by the world's widening waistlines, Zaftig Mall looked similar to what Stone imagined malls before the petroleum crash must have looked like. Three stories stretching the length of a city block crammed with stores selling clothes, music, games, and all the other trinkets the corpulent consumer culture of Adipose City craved. And of course, the food court was crammed with stalls and there were a handful of vending machines selling everything from burritos to ice cream scattered throughout the mall. Polished stone floors effortlessly bore the heavy strides of overstuffed shoppers while alloyed metal supports propped up the stores on the upper levels. It was still relatively early in the day so there weren't that many shoppers out yet but on the positive side there were plenty of benches and seats for her to just sit down and watch the world go by.

About an hour past like this, politely enjoying the view as she watched some of the city's heavyweights go about their day. A crowd of human and animan shoppers gradually filled the main corridor and the terraced stories above it, her eyes nonchalantly regarding all of them as she silently admired figures ranging from the plump to the titanic. Thunder thighs wider then Stone's torso, beer bellies bigger then a metal beer keg, breasts the size of watermelons... Adipose City's corpulent splendor was on full display for those that knew how to appreciate it.

Getting up to her feet, the off-duty medic began to window shop. While she rarely had much need for Expandex clothes, at least at present, it was nice to walk through the selections and either admire the digital murals of models lining the walls or imagine what it would be like to join the massive masses of the city while running her fingers through the various textures the wonder fabric could be woven in, from denim and leather to more elastic weaves. Shrugging to herself, she left to explore the rest of the mall. There was one sale going on she couldn't really afford to miss out on.

Flabulous hardly looked like a subsidiary of Motherland Provisions but then for all of their nationalist pride, Motherland wasn't that keen on exporting Russian stereotypes hand over fist. As such the gainer nutrition center looked fairly nondescript except for the balloon lettering in the store's sign. Rows of metal shelves filled with plastic bottles containing everything from appetite stimulants to drugs that slowed the metabolism or increased digestion. There was also a collection of treatments for encouraging the growth of one type of fat deposit over another. While the drugs used in Stone's practice came from a reputable medical supplier, Flabuous sold a few compounds that were more appropriate for some of her other... projects. And as luck would have it, all of them were on sale today.

Picking up a metal shopping basket, the blond woman slowly walked through the aisles, perusing brands and occasionally tossing a bottle in her basket. Stimulants for increased appetite and digestion were always a given but what to do for body types she mused as she wandered that section of the store. Did she want to go apple or pear? Balanced or disproportioned? How did she want to ruin the figure of the first PEC bastard she got her hands on? While hardly as well financed as corporate chemists like Dr. Crammitin or Stoutheart, she wasn't going to deny that they were onto something with their methods for bringing those over-muscled bullies down low.

The freelance doctor still hadn't answered these questions when she realized someone was standing right behind her very patiently. Turning around, she found herself face to face with a brown furred vixen with bright green eyes and long black hair tied into a bun. Her well-curved figure was dressed in what felt like a deliberately nondescript Expandex outfit, the other female was well endowed but not significantly larger then Stone was. The newcomer smiled, "Good day Cherry Pop." The vixen animan said warmly, a practiced tone masking much of her Japanese accent.

The vengeful physician choked back a chuckle as she pushed back her dreams of revenge. "Hello Wasabi, fancy meeting you here." She greeted the off-duty PanAsian agent. Wasabi was a Grabboid employed by the Far Eastern megacorp, a skilled ninja infiltrator and a mean hand with a katana. She was also a woman that shared a few of the same interests with Stone, namely a hatred for the Consortium and an unapologetic appreciation for well-rounded figures.

"Just shopping. I've never been in this mall before so I wanted to see what it was like. And of course, to do some people watching, same as you I imagine." Wasabi answered with a slight smirk.

Cherry Pop smiled as she decided upon a variety of body supplements, paid for her purchases, then bought two cups of carbonated fruit juice from the Fruit Bar next door as Wasabi and her cruised the mall in earnest, acting like two ordinary young women on their day off. Chattering and giggling amongst themselves, eyeing and discussing the figure of this human or that animan in mischievous whispers; once or twice the object of their admiration would look back at them with righteous indignation then stop when they saw that the look on the girls faces was anything but mean-spirited. Most walked off in an embarrassed huff but there were a few that drank up the attention and gave the two women one last teasing glimpse before disappearing off to continue their errands. Overall it was an experience that left Stone feeling... normal. Thanks to PEC, she hadn't really been able to take much time to remember what it was like to be happy.

Lunch was had at a PanAsian buffet, Wasabi's treat. Sitting in a booth engineered for figures much more well-rounded then them, the two women chatted about the usual things two friends talk about over lunch. Neither of them was particularly interested in telling the other about their work but there were plenty of other juicy topics...

"So have you started dating anyone yet?" The vixen asked nonchalantly over a forkful of lo mein.

Rebecca grimaced as she worked on a bowl of wonton soup, the freelancer knew it was a well-intentioned question but still, if Wasabi truly understood she would know better then to ask such a thing. Still, for some reason she thought back to the ride back from Worcester. Being held against a sympathetic Burger Butt who had tried flirting with her on the trip down... did she really find someone? Or, femboy or not, was he just like most of the men she met over the last two years?

"I... don't know. I think I might have but... god damn it Wasabi, you should know by now how confusing things are for me." The human fumed softly.

"Indeed, you are lost in a fog of suspicion, rightfully fearing the monsters that lurk within us all. But believe me when I say you have to learn to trust something other then yourself if you ever want to leave that place." Her vulpine friend countered.

"I will never truly leave 'that place' Wasabi." Stone responded flatly.

"Nor should you, but neither should you live in it utterly." The other female pleaded encouragingly. Stone hated it when the vixen started sounding like a fortune cookie; Wasabi was as likely to embrace Asian stereotypes on a whim as either girl was to join the Consortium. Which meant the vixen was trying to give some advice that should be taken to heart and not sure how to say it.

The rest of lunch passed by silently as both females tried to work out what to say next but words wouldn't really come. Leaving the restaurant, the two women walked for a bit before parting ways. While the diversion was as appreciated as it was unexpected, Rebecca had another appointment she needed to keep. One with someone who understood what the lithe fat admirer was going through much better then Wasabi hopefully ever will... and one that needed Stone's emotional support as much as the medic needed hers. Getting on the subway, the relaxing freelancer made her way to the Aristo spire.

Aristo's Adipose City regional headquarters, in the heart of their part of the city, was fairly predictable for the company. Instead of small campuses of several more modestly sized structures, the Anglo-Franco Corporation decided to go all out in buying a small arcology, a self-contained city within the city roughly seventy-five stories tall. From here, the company projected or at least attempted to extend its reach across the entire eastern half of the continent. Gothic arches and architectural flourishes covered a giant skyscraper that contained company offices, upper class apartments, and an array of stores, eateries, and workshops to help provide employees with a feeling of home in a foreign land.

Walking to the bottom five floors of the arcology, Stone was greeted by a sight similar to the Zaftig mall. Similar except there was a distinctly Aristo-flair to the retailers here, giving foreigners a taste of what the corporation had to offer without having them traipse all over the tower; as much a means of convenience as a way to make things difficult for spies to "get lost" in the upper levels of the tower where people might see or hear things better kept private.

Taking a seat in front of a small bistro near the top of the commercial levels, Rebecca sat and waited for her friend to arrive. A few minutes later, a sheep ewe dressed in street clothes waddled up to her table and took a seat... and another seat. Stone wondered why anyone bothered with stools in Adipose City anymore when over half the population needed at least two of them to support their padded posteriors and a lovely girl like Hilda needed a minimum of three to support her broad bottom. Hilda Kraftquik had a rather unusual species choice for an animan, a domestic sheep with black skin cover by white wool, blue eyes, and platinum blond hair that blended in with her soft pelt. And as her seating arrangement suggested, she was a rather large woman with most of her weight packed away in a pair of exceptionally thick muttonchops. Yet it was her eyes that currently commanded the other woman's attention, eyes that bore the subtle signs of fatigue.

"Having nightmares again Hilda?" Rebecca asked the other female sympathetically.

The ewe nodded silently and led her friend up into the residential levels before taking her into Hilda's apartment. The décor was muted, lacking most of the elegance someone would expect of one Lady Nelson's roly-poly armored Knights of the Round. But then Hilda was in it for the paradoxical illusion of safety that came with being one of Lady Boobsalot's Knights of the Round Butts, not necessarily the wealth and status that came from being one of Aristo's darling agents. Though as Stone stepped in ahead of her host and turned to watch her shut the door behind the both of them, the human decided that the ewe definitely indulged in the more caloric wealth of her patron corporation quite well...

For a moment neither female spoke, both of them just stood there in Hilda's living room. Then the dam broke, emotions and memories they had both tried to suppress with varying degrees of success rose up to the surface and tormented them once more. But as the tears began to gently run down her German friend's face, Rebecca smiled with a mixture of relief and depression. "Last night I ran with an agent team... and we ran into a PEC team lead by Leo while we were out there. I... I don't think we have to worry about him anymore." She began before giving her round, wooly friend a hug. It was the first time she felt truly relieved about the previous night's events since they happened.

Taking her guest over to the sofa, Kraftquik sat both of them down and let herself be hugged. Hilda buried her face in her friend's shoulder, squeezing the other female with a soft embrace. "Is it over?" The ewe asked the other female.

"I don't know, I hope so..." Stone replied softly. The two women sat in silence for what felt like a long time. When they spoke again, it was about things other then what weighed heavily on their minds...

Sometime later, Rebecca was on the elevator down to the ground floor of the Aristo campus; escorted out by Lady Nelson herself. The exceptionally big-bosomed vixen looked at her guest thoughtfully; a bust to rival Bazooka Betty was clad in a conservative Expandex dress as the vulpine clearly thought about what to say, the miracle fabric doing an impressive job holding its occupant in while looking ready to explode in a shower of ripped cloth at the same time.

"What?" Cherry Pop began at last, breaking a silence far more smothering then even Nelson's impressive chest.

"I'm not sure how to ask this but what happened to the two of you in Hamburg?" The unarmored knight asked politely.

The silence returned with a vengeance as the medic contemplated whether or not to answer the other woman's question. "We met under... trying circumstances." She replied vaguely. Not really much of an answer but the best she could give circumstances being what they were. She still wasn't even sure if Leo was gone for good. Even if he was, one of the other agents was bound to have escaped and told Iceland that at least one Hamburg survivor was hiding out in Adipose City....

Nelson nodded, not entirely convinced. "I know about the Consortium prison camp and the inmate riot that went on before Aristo destroyed the facility. But everyone I talked to that's been there has been rather vague about what went on before that... Hilda won't even talk to me about what went on there."

"I don't blame her. I don't think I've met any of us that want to remember let alone talk about that nightmare. And I don't think I met anyone that really wants to know what went on in that place."

"I do, I want to know what happened to Hilda."

"No... really you don't. Besides, I'm not even sure you'd believe half the things that were done to us." She replied curtly.

With a quick flash of fingers, the vixen produced her override card and shut the elevator down with a graceful stop. "Try me." She replied simply, the challenge as direct as it was obvious.

For a moment the silence returned as Stone looked back in the other female, lost in thought. On one hand she wanted to smile, as clearly there was more to Boobsalot then her huge rack and a "good girl" aristocratic demeanor, on the other she knew Nelson was going to regret ever asking that question. So, with a deep breath, she started at the beginning and did her best to avoid skipping over the graphic details. How she got captured and taken to the PEC camp in Hamburg, how she met Hilda and they overcame the language barrier between them, and the increasingly brutish methods PEC employed to "treat" her for her fat admiring tendencies.

Lady Nelson kept her expression neutral despite the increasingly depraved abuses Stone described. When the blond woman got to an abridged version of her history with Leo, the vixen started the elevator back up and got them off about a level above the freelancer's floor. There, after leading her guest into a quiet corner, the Aristo knight gave Hilda's friend a long hug. Rebecca squirmed briefly to unbury her face from the vulpine female's massive cleavage but the other lady didn't let her go, keeping her squished in a sympathetic embrace. Sighing, the medic returned the hug and did her best to enjoy the moment while it lasted. She did not hold any real attraction for the Aristo agent but she hadn't lost so much of her humanity that she couldn't appreciate the gesture.

When they did finally break away, Rebecca did her best to return the British vixen's smile before she turned to continue on her way. As much as she hated to admit it, Wasabi was right about one thing, she was pretty well entrenched in her little world. Unfortunately it was going to take a lot more then a hug to get her out of it. Still, there was one place where she could go to at least mentally recharge once she had dinner, one place that was horribly ironic on several levels....

It was always a guilty pleasure entering Club Derriere, one of Adipose City's... better-known strip clubs. The faint sheen of sweat on the big-bottomed dancers, the soundtrack alternating between the slow, rhythmic beat of heavy drums and a selection of lipophilic tunes both new and old, and the broad-hipped "waitresses" both male and female that could serve a drink and a lap dance in the same order. That was the pleasure. The guilt was that she treated some of the club employees or their family members... It was a very fine line regarding the divide between doctor/patient relationships and one she wasn't entirely comfortable with being near, but the club also had a relative monopoly on her favorite meaty bits. So when the immense muscle-gut bouncer out front waved her in, she sucked in her breath and quickly scanned the main floor, keeping an eye out for new faces or familiar ones she didn't know outside of the club while taking in tonight's theme.

Her most recent employer probably would have mixed feelings kind of shameless promotion that was going on tonight. Tonight's theme was "Burger World Salute" and the dancers and waitresses were dressed in appropriate paramilitary style; camouflage panties and bras, fingerless leather gloves, black lipstick, and black leather "combat" boots with six-inch high heels. A "mudslide" dessert was available for paying customers to make their hired dancer chug while they performed. And from Stone's perspective, the scenery worked all of it well. Once seated, she electronically placed an order for a drink and an hour's time with a dancer. She hesitated when asked whether or not she had any specific requests, briefly considering flipping through the registry then deciding to just hit "male, no specific preference." A moment later she saw her drink carried her way, resisting the urge to cringe and kick herself when she saw who was carrying it.

Stone sucked in her breath when she saw him coming her way, Thunder, an effeminate black-haired Caucasian male. A human with short-cropped hair, bright green eyes, and a fat femboy figure with an elfin face, generous potbelly, and positively thunderous hips complete with an expansive backside that he could almost balance a serving tray on. Soy's boyfriend, a freelance Big Tool that danced on the side to support his ailing sister, a tragic victim of a bizarre allergic reaction to PEC's fat dissolving chemicals... that currently fell to Stone to figure out how to treat. As such, Thunder was one of the forbidden ones. Fortunately, he was probably the only one out of the Derrieres who understood her well enough to not push her too much. Unfortunately, he also knew her well enough to know exactly what would make her howl like a lupine animan, a secret he appeared to guard jealously. Stone would have hated him for it were she not painfully aware of exactly how much the drugs she needed for his sister's treatment cost...

The femboy "thunder slut" smiled professionally as he waddled over with her drink order in hand. "Welcome to Club Derriere." He began with a practiced tone, presenting her drink to her before getting down on his fleshy knees. "My name is Thunder, is there anything else I can get you mistress?" He asked, accenting the last word with a sultry purr that sent chills down the other human's spine.

Thunder, fuck your girlfriend for helping you finally get in touch with your slutty side, fuck you for being so broke you sold your standards, and fuck me for being so fucking screwed up I'm actually enjoying this. Stone thought to herself as she gave into the urge to smile. "Dance." She ordered simply, pointing to the raised platform in front of her and taking a sip of her drink.

Her hired toy was only too happy to comply, giving his rump a playful wiggle as he crawled up against the dancing pole. Heels clicked as he rose to his feet before promptly dropping into a squat. Pinkish-white marshmallow cheeks bounced teasingly at the reclining medic as Thunder began to dance. She had to hand it to the thunder slut; it took skill to move in time with the "tribal" drums while still keeping up a slow, provocative belly dance routine. Caressing the pole with both hands, he initially kept his back to her, voluminous backside teasingly mooning her as his hips swayed like a metronome in time with the drums before he turned around and gently "rode" the pole between his cheeks. Throughout his dance there was a feeling of subservience, that he would offer no resistance if she were to jump up and do nasty things to him. It was a feeling both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. The power, the control... was this what Leo felt when he... did her? No... this was still different no matter how many ways the damn irrational part of her mind looked at it. There was no giving that time, only taking. Right now was a display of trust that she knew damn well only one other person in this city received. Somewhere in her subconscious a flame of jealously formed for a certain panda working for PanAsia.

The pole was soon abandoned, a trigger somewhere Stone couldn't see caused it to sink down into the table. Meanwhile Thunder had gotten back on his hands and knees, coyly and slowly waving his camo-clad rump just out of her reach. Once again he looked back at her, regarding the relaxing medic with a slow lick of his black lips. Stone smiled, knowing exactly what to bring out next.

I think the people who predicted the dark cyberpunk future would be full of hyper-masculine male gunslingers would be rolling over in their graves if they could see what I was doing right now. To hell with them, I met their ideal hero; his name was Leo. Rebecca thought grimly as she played with the controls built into her chair.

Pressing a button in her armrest, a long rubber hose with a feeding mask on the end descended from somewhere in the ceiling. "Put that on, keep dancing." She commanded with a sip of her drink. Once Thunder complied she turned on the food pump. A slurry of mudslide pudding began to churn down into his eager mouth as the effeminate dancer continued flaunting his hips like an Al Ain belly dancer. His stomach began to bulge and stretch tight as a solid lump of pudding grew inside of it while his face registered a brief flicker of discomfort as his limit was in sight. But he didn't plead with her, trusting her to stop before... Stone's fingers had pressed the button before she even registered the sensation. No, she didn't have it in her to let someone get hurt for her own pleasure, at least not someone like Thunder at any rate.

Keeping her expression neutral, something that became more difficult every passing minute, she leaned back into the padded leather sofa and set her drink into a convenient cup holder. Hands free, she patted her lap with a sly smile. Thunder obliged her, sitting and slowly dancing in her lap as she gently caressed and rubbed his swollen abdomen. "Our time's almost up, do you want to recommend another toy for me?"

Her entertainment suppressed a belch as he quietly contemplated her question, rubbing against her pelvis. Soft flesh pressed against her lap as the dancer went through the motions, burying her legs beneath two warm, soft balls of supple flab. "I have someone who has wanted to get in contact with you. If you want I can send him to your clinic, what time will you be back?"

"I was going to head back there after our time was up. Who is it?" Stone asked, somewhat suspicious.

For someone who was so shy, Thunder could look positively devilish if he wanted to. "It's a surprise." He answered coyly as their time ended, giving her a small peck on the cheek before waddling off to tend to another patron's order, hips swaying to the beat of a heavy drum. Stone grinned despite herself, now to see what that mystery person was....

Stone realized should have known Thunder somehow knew Daisy Dukes, should have known it was going to work out something like this. But as the vulpine femboy waddled into her clinic, she realized the fox had come somewhat prepared. Dressed in a mesh shirt, elastic booty shorts, and heeled boots, DeeDee walked up the front desk holding a bouquet of synthetic flowers. Nervously chewing on his lip, he looked at Rebecca for a moment while silently working out what he wanted to say.

"Hi sugs... Is it too late for me to ask you out to dinner?" The Burger World Big Tool asked with a nervous giggle as he brushed his hair back.

Stone thought about it for a moment, then shrugged and smiled. "It is tonight but I still have a block free if you'd like to sit and talk upstairs." She offered, taking the flowers and setting them aside in a convenient vase.

Upstairs in her living room, the two of them found themselves sitting on Stone's reinforced sofa, talking until late in the evening. Gradually, the freelance Druggist found herself a friend if not a lover, her initial uncertainty about the corporate techie changing towards a more positive opinion. Maybe this overstuffed fox was one she could trust herself to open up with. In any case he was certainly quite the charmer, perhaps some further examination was in order....
