A Little Glimpse
After a few moments of silence, Malcolm looks up at you then shakes his head. "Like I said, it's a little complicated," he pauses and looks up at you.
"We don't have to discuss it, if you don't want," you say.
"No, it's not like that. You ever been in one of those situations where what you want is just out of reach, and then you miss the opportunity?"
"I think that has happened to everyone," you reply.
"The worst part is thinking about it; what you could have done different, you know?"
You nod softly and look at Malcolm's solemn expression. "They say hindsight is 20/20. What can you do but move on?"
"Dwell on it," Malcolm replies and then looks up at you with a smile. "But that never seems to help. Never know who's going to walk in the door and try and strike up a conversation to distract you from the climax of a good book."
You feel your cheeks heat a little and then you shake your head. "Or who you're going to see sitting at a table, beckoning you over with a come-hither glance."
"What?" he exclaims in feigned surprise. "I would never."
You and Malcolm both chuckle a bit then the tiger shoots you a smile. You feel the blush creeping back into your cheeks and shy your glance away.
"Say," he says to pull your attention back. "What do you like to do for fun?"
You reply with a flirty response to test the waters.
