A Change in Plans

To enemies the figure was well known as the Devil's Serpent, the Silent Striker and even once compared to the half god Loki but none of which it dared to take as a name. The agent's designated number on file was 89DR but most call it Agent 89. Stepping out from the truck and into the shadows, 89DR took out a small circular device and pressed the only key on it. The phone rang once then a women's face appeared on a small hologram.
"Report?"
"Field report update 19," said 89, it's voice masked with a modulator, "no sign of the target but suspect H has just arrived at zone B34 where the other suspects A and E are currently positioned. Awaiting further instructions."
"Confirmed," said the women, "this changes things and Python won't be happy about it. Keep an eye on who he talks to and see if target is in the area. Check if he makes any contact with the suspects and record what you can. Hack into their phones if you have to but be careful, Python is about start phase one so we're on a clock."
"Understood," said 89, "backup will available if required?"
"KR8N and his crew will on stand by. After they have dealt with our lose ends in the bay."
89 ended the call. It never got into small talk and only said what would be necessary.
Ignoring the civilians in the parking lot the figure made it's way past the lupine's motorcycle and almost casually planted a small device to the vehicle. As it walked into the mall it crushed the device with one hand and threw it in a nearby trash can.
89 could always get another one, the Python just demanded secrecy and expected all of his agents to remove obstacles that would compromise this. This standard sometimes demanded the total destruction of all evidence and lose ends, even if it were considered murder.
