Guardian Without Direction Chapter 8: To Soon to Retire.
I had finally some time to write Again. I am afraid it isn`t much trough. Just over a thousand words (and no smut either). I tried to use a more complicated syntax while writing this time. Bet there should be a lot more grammar issues now than in the previous Chapters. I also tried to speed up my narration time, scratching unnecessary details. I promisse that the next chapter will come out quicker and feature longer (and more explicit) content.
Stay tuned!
And of course, feedback is always welcome!
Guardian Without direction Chapter 8: To Soon to Retire.
I watched as two figures emerged from the parked van. A young man and a young woman.
Alas, woman would be the wrong entitlement, considering the person in question looked more like a teenager. The man that accompanied her seemed to be more around my age, spotting a rather beefy build and black, unkempt hair. They booth wore matching uniforms, indicating that they were here on business.
“Al- Master, is everything alright?"
I let go of the dusty curtain, not sure what I should answer him.
The sound of a sliding door falling into lock finally broke the silence. Cyn just strolled past me and comically pressed his snout at the dusty window.
As his eyes finally caught a glimpse of the parking car, his body got limb with shock.
“This can`t... be." he nearly wailed while his fur started to bristle.
I could already hear my inner debate playing out:
“He is going to do something stupid, isn't he?"
“You can bet he is!"
“So... shouldn't you try to stop him?"
“I am but your Voice of Reason. Don't ask me how to solve your petty problems."
“You are not helping myself at the sightliest here!"
“Well, what do you ex..."
My inner conflict was broken the moment my arse hit the concrete floor. The bulky Typhlosion had made one fluid, mad dash towards the parking site, tackling me over in the process.
See? What did I tell you?
I just groaned at myself as I stood up and hurried after Cyn, hoping that I could (somehow) solve the trouble he had gotten himself into before things would start to escalate.
My hopes turned out to be in vain.
A high pitched scream could be heard from the parking lot, motivating me enough to change my jog into a full blown sprint. Since the moment I had met the strange Typhlosion, I've had more bodily exercises than in my last three bloody years here at Art School combined! My panting sounded like an old train running low on coal as I finally reached the lot.
At the first glimpse, the Art School's parking space was relatively empty, save the two to three old parked cars, a small trailer and a poor couple, pressing themselves as hard as they probably can at a closed, white van. Oh, and there was also an out-of-control looking, oversized Typhlosion with bristling fur, currently facing said couple while growl-wailing some sort unintelligible gibberish at them.
Details!
It would seem that the interesting, little companion I had picked yesterday was a far more handful than I had anticipated. And I wasn't even alluding to the fact that Cyn was a large breed Fire Pokemon. Specifiably, a Typhlosion.
A species so unpredictable that even most veteran trainers dare to use in actual combat. No, it would seem that poor Cyn possessed a trait which is rare among Pokemon, but not unheard of.
He is downright impulsive.
And maybe even aggravated to the point where it could be called a control disorder. But this was no more than a mere assumption.
“Say, Cyn is a fully grown Typhlosion, isn`t he?"
“Well, duh?!"
“Then, where the heck is his neck blaze?"
“His what?"
“The flame around his neck! The one that burns whenever his species is tensed or stressed!"
“Arceus sake, you're right where is it?! Thanks for noticing, Voice of Reason!"
“Wait a second! Aren`t you supposed to be my Voice of Reason?"
Guess we both are now...
While my mind seemed to have developed an existential crisis on his own, I continued to approach the still whaling Typhlosion. Tears where straining down on his muzzle while he tortured the still terrified retirement resort staff with his incomprehensible outburst.
To me, it almost looked comically.
I knew by now that Cyn couldn't hurt a Caterpie, even if he had to. His missing neck blaze was proof enough.
I slowly and passionately stroked trough his headfur, right between his ears. The silky fur, which now glided trough my fingertips had an an almost divine texture.
“It`s Okay Cyn. Calm down. Nobody is going anywhere."
I repeated over and over. Even trough you can't really talk with most Pokemon (or people) if they are in that kind of state, the use of calming words can always be used to give someone much needed solace, be it person or Pokemon.
No matter the language.
And Cyn looked like he was desperately needing some reassuranceat the moment. I couldn`t even guess what must have happened to Cyn in that retirement Resort. What kind of yearning triggered his reaction .
I had all the knowledge a breeder should have, but I am by far no counselor for Pokemon like my sister. When it comes to mending a Pokemon`s psyche, all I can do is give them “first aid", reassuring him that the world around him still cares...
I saw white.
Truly, it was the purest white that I had ever seen in my entire live. It was a white that held no other purpose, no other deeper meaning than occupying my vision for the fraction of a second. Then, I felt pain. And not just any pain, it was a dull, throbbing ache. Intensifying exponentially with every beat my heart took. Fractions of seconds felt like minutes of argony.
And yet, I didn't scream, couldn't even register what has happened. It was the girl who screamed, louder than the first time. I registered a crunchy noise. It sounded just like someone biting of a freshly harvested carrot. The only problem was, nobody was eating a carrot. I looked at my left had and counted from one to three, then looked at Cyn as he spat out my two remaining fingers on the dirt, looking in my direction with glazed, expressionless Eyes. It didn't look like he was aware of anything. His expression held no meaning.
Then, it seemed like someone had stabbed Cyn with a hot needle. His former lifeless eyes became wide with shock and fixed on my hand, then on the ground where he had spat my pinky and my middlefinger just a moment ago. He started to hyperventilate. His muzzle was slightly agape, as if to show me more of the gory spectacle he just hosted. “I..." be began, but dashed off before I could doe even more than to blink at him. I also noticed a puddle of liquid where he stood a second ago. The Typhlosion seemed to have lost control over his bladder when he snapped back.
Out of fear, I guess.
Then I looked down on myself and realized that the same shit had happened to me.
Details like these are the ones nobody truly prepares you for!
