CHAPTER 4: Stronghold events unfold!
Lazz stood there in disbelief because what had just happened. Rio just caught a bullet just fired at him by Wild Horn and caught it with his bare hand or in this case his two bare fingers. As Rio lowered his hand to his side and dropped the bullet on the ground, the cling sound it made as the bullet hit the floor echoed in Lazz's ears as he thought to himself what just happened. Lazz didn't have time to think though, Lazz felt a slight discomfort on his chest. He knew he could not take his eyes off of the enemy, not even for one second. So he figured he would check to see what it was later. Lazz stared at Wild Horn. He was a moose like Minotaur. He stood tall on two legs, and brought a new meaning to the word hairy. Wild Horn then slowly turned his head toward Rio and Lazz.
"Step away from Takeshi Obata right now Wild Horn!" Rio yelled.
"Lazz....... long time no see old pal!" Wild Horn said.
" If I never saw you again it would have been to soon Wild Horn." Lazz said sarcastilly.
"What? Is that any way to welcome someone you haven't seen in over six years?" Wild Horn questioned while keeping his gun pointed at Rio and Lazz.
Lazz kept his eyes on Wild Horn and examined his over all out look. He was well equipped for someone who was just supposed to ask questions. Wild Horn was holding a Revolver. The color of the gun was black and silver, which matched his spiked shoulder pads that held his brown short cape up. He also had on spiked armlets as well as two large golden horns on his head that shined brightly thanks to the lighting of the room. His eyes were a dark red color, which matched some of the designs on his fur.
"I hate being ignored!!" Rio screamed and with that he pulled out his smith and Wesson 9mm semi automatic handgun and fired two bullets at Wild Horn.
Wild Horn was surprised at how fast Rio fired his handgun. He quickly pointed his revolver at the first incoming bullet and fired one shot at it. The two bullets canceled each other out and Rio's second bullet was headed right for Wild Horn with no detours. Rio smiled because he knew he had won this little battle. Revolvers are old and have to be reloaded after every shot, which is its weakness. Rio knew that since he just fired once already he could not use the same trick to cancel it out again.
"It's over Wild Horn!! Rio shouted.
Just then, Wild Horn shot a second bullet from his revolver with out reloading at all. The two bullets clashed and fell to the floor leaving a cling sound that filled the room. Rio was shocked. He had heard stories, but never actually seen it. That was no ordinary revolver Wild Horn was holding. Rio looked to his side to see that Lazz had already used his camo-abitiliy and was hiding for an ambush. Rio knew Lazz was confused at what had just happened, so he began to explain.
"Nice move." Rio said.
"You look a little too young to know anything about what just happened." Wild Horn said.
"There is a hybrid form of the revolver, known as the automatic revolver, which combines the revolving chamber concept of the conventional revolver with the recoil harnessing, self cycling ability of the semiautomatic pistol. Weapons of this type are rare, as the technology was quickly rendered obsolete by a combination of the double action revolver and the semiautomatic pistol." Rio said.
"I see your well informed about handguns." Wild Horn said.
"Yes. They are my preferred weapons of choice when it comes to guns. I know what just happened. The revolver you're holding is not just a revolver, but a Webley_Fosbery Automatic Revolver. The Webley_Fosbery Automatic Revolver was the first commercial example, introduced in 1901. It was recoil operated, and the cylinder and barrel recoiled backwards to cock the hammer and revolve the cylinder. It was distinctive in that cam grooves were milled on the outside of the cylinder to provide a means of advancing to the next chamber__half a turn as the cylinder moved back, and half a turn as it moved forward. .38 caliber versions held 8 shots, .455 caliber versions 6.Which looks to me like you are holding a .455 caliber, which means you only have six shots max with four shots remaining. At the time, the few available automatic pistols were larger, less reliable, and more expensive. The automatic revolver was popular when it first came out, but was quickly superseded by the creation of reliable, inexpensive semiautomatic pistols. Kind of like what I'm holding right now." Rio explained.
"So in other words he can fire that thing without reloading up to six times in a row before stopping." Lazz whispered.
"It seems that our knowledge of handguns is evenly matched, what do you say to a weaponless fight then?" Wild Horn asked.
"I'm one step ahead of you!!" Rio yelled as he appeared suddenly behind Wild Horn and punched him.
Wild Horn was sent flying across the room past where Lazz was standing from Rio's punch and landed on the ground with a huge impact. Wild Horn got up and tried to think what just happened, but he had no time as Rio was already in front of him aiming his foot at him to kick him. Wild Horn blocked the kick however, and tried to foot sweep Rio. Rio quickly jumped over the foot sweep and kicked Wild Horn in the face. The force from the kick sent him skidding across the room past where Lazz was standing again and into the next room. Rio quickly dashed after him.
Meanwhile the president of Dragons tech Takeshi Obata took the chance to make a run for it. He ran into the previous room Rio and Lazz were in and took the stairs down to the next level. Lazz ran after him after grabbing the rest of his gear that he took off. Lazz felt that slight discomfort on his chest again and this time looked down to see what was bothering him. It was a small wound. The dark-red blood that was running down his chest was proof of that. Lazz tried to think why he was bleeding, but came up with nothing. By the time he had put on all his gear and equipment, he finally figured out why he has a wound. It was the bullet that Wild Horn just shot at him. If Rio were just one second later he could have been killed as the wound was where his heart is. It did not have enough time to hit the heart however. Lazz jumped onto the railing and slid down it like grinding it with a skateboard and before he reached the end of the railing he jumped off and made a mad dash down the only pathway there was in attempts to catch up to Takeshi Obata.
Meanwhile Wild Horn stopped skidding by using his hands to halt himself. He then fired four shots at Rio. Rio quickly jumped up over the bullets and was heading right toward Wild Horn from above, when all of all sudden Wild Horn revealed a second automatic revolver and took aim and fired it twice. At such a close range Rio could do nothing but watch as the bullets sped right at him. Rio reached behind him and grabbed his backpack and used it as a shield to protect him from the bullets and landed on top of Wild Horn. His gun was sent sliding across the floor then came to a stop.
"You said no weapons!" Rio yelled.
" I lied can't you tell!" Wild Horn yelled back. Then kicked Rio off of him.
Wild Horn got up and walked to where his revolver was and picked it up and pointed it at Rio.
"Your pretty good. However your luck just ran out I'm afraid." Wild Horn said.
"What makes you say that?" Rio questioned.
"Because from this range there is nothing you can do. I will hit you the next time I fire this gun. Before I shoot you though........ Do you think you can tell me why you are killing our soldiers like there lives are not important." Wild Horn asked.
"Because you're the bad guys duh!" Rio said sarcastically.
" Why so many though? What do you have to gain by taking so many lives?" Wild Horn asked.
"What are you talking about? I only killed one griffin!" Rio exclaimed.
Wild Horn thought to himself before speaking again. Was Rio just bluffing in order to fool him into letting him go, or was he telling him the truth. Wild Horn was confused because he had heard reports from his griffin soldiers that over one hundred griffin soldiers had been killed already, yet Rio claims he had only killed one. Wild Horn tired to figure out where the other ninety-nine deaths could have come from. He thought Lazz might have done it, but the area they were in had less then forty-griffin soldiers on patrol. Wild Horn finally decided to ask Rio something.
"Only one?" Wild Horn asked.
"Yes. When did these killings start might I ask." Rio asked.
"About three hours ago." Wild Horn said.
Rio laughed because suddenly it all made sense to him now. Wild Horn tightened his grip on his revolver and growled at Rio while having a puzzled look on his face. Rio stopped laughing and pointed his handgun at Wild Horn and started to explain.
"That's impossible. I only got here about an hour ago. Which means it couldn't have been Lazz or myself. As for who it is.... Well, if you ask me I say there is another intruder besides me and Lazz." Rio said.
"Looks like I will be taking care of him soon enough." Wild Horn said.
Rio took this time during their little talk to look around the room they now stood in. It was a huge room with a narrow walk way and looked like it had no bottom. If anyone were to fall down off of this walk way they would fall for what would seem like days. This room was too big to not be important. Rio didn't understand why a stronghold would need or use a room this big for, but he focused at the matter at hand for the time being.
"Think fast!" Rio screamed.
Rio threw his backpack at Wild Horn and expected him to catch it. Sure enough, Wild Horn indeed caught it with ease. Suddenly Rio's hand emerged from the backpack and scratched Wild Horn deeply. Wild Horn let out a scream of pain as he began bleeding heavily. Wild Horn didn't expect Rio to claw right through all his equipment just to land a hit. The backpack tore open and all the supplies fell down the large bottomless pit. Rio tried to scratch Wild Horn again, but Wild Horn blocked it with his spiked armlet and grabbed him and tossed him across the room near the support beam that held up the center platform the two narrow walkways connected into from south and north. Rio hid behind the support beam as Wild Horn walked carefully closer.
"It's....... no use....... hiding." Wild Horn said out of breath.
Just then, Wild Horn shot one bullet at the railing and it bounced off of it and hit Rio from behind. Rio let out a horrorifyed scream of pain and confusion. Rio didn't think getting shot would hurt this much. The bullet even pierced his chain mail he was wearing underneath his griffin out fit. He couldn't move, his body felt so heavy. He was losing a lot of blood and fast. He didn't know what to do. This room lacked cover or any kind of hiding spots for that matter. Wild Horn could hit him almost anywhere now. To make matters worse Rio just lost all his equipment from that last attack.
"Didn't I tell you the next time I shoot this gun I will hit you." Wild Horn said and pulled a lever to force the ascension of the platform making it rise higher, and higher into the room.
The more the platform raised the more unbalanced Rio got. He didn't know what other moves he had left. Suddenly griffin soldiers from almost every level of the stronghold lined up far away from the far side of the large room and took aim and started to open fire on Rio. Also the platform began to spin counter clockwise slowly. The griffin soldiers missed a lot of the shots and nothing but clinging could be heard from all directions. Rio was afraid he was going to die. He began to panic and sweat heavily. The dark-red blood was everywhere and stained his griffin uniform. Rio began to feel a little lightheaded and his vision got a little fuzzy.
"I'm not going to make it........." Rio whispered to himself.
Meanwhile Lazz was still high tailing it down the seemingly endless pathway when all of a sudden it ended. He was now standing in a dimly lit room. It looked like a normal room that was used for storage. Lazz took a few minutes to catch his breath. While he did so he looked down at his wound again and smiled. Thank goodness Rio was a speed demon or otherwise Lazz would not be doing so good right. Lazz noticed his dog tags he almost never ever takes off no matter what happens. He was wearing two of them around his neck and both of them were cover in his blood. He looked at his that read Lazz His last name was hard to read because of the blood and the dog tag itself was so old and torn that it was basically unreadable anyway. He then looked at the second bloody dog tag. As it read, Ly Freemen. Lazz stood there out of breath and with a tear running down his face from the memories he had with Ly. From out of nowhere Takeshi Obata, the president of dragon's tech emerged from the back of the room and stared at Lazz blankly.
"There you are! Why did you run from us you could have gotten killed!" Lazz shouted.
Takeshi Obata stood there in his professional business tuxedo and ignored what Lazz said completely. Instead he played with his hair on his head and combed it to one side and then to another after about eighteen seconds. His hair was well taken care of for a dragon such as himself. His brown scales however, were not looking so good. They were dirty and looked like they haven't been washed in weeks.
"Anyway, come on we'll go this way so we don't run into anyone else." Lazz said.
They both proceeded to the back of the storage room and with caution proceeded on ward. They now stood in a room that was no longer part of the same building or foundation. It was a under ground cavern and it looked abounded for the most part. It was dark and wet and water dripped off of the stalactites that hung from the cavern's ceiling. There was nothing but storage and extra equipment down here. Most likely to be transferred to the stronghold whenever they needed it.
"This might be where the BLACK FANG unit is keeping the nuclear warheads." Lazz said.
Takeshi Obata grinned and rose up his hand and clawed Lazz in the back. This sent Dark-red blood everywhere as Lazz let out a scream of pain. The blood erupted like a volcano and was sent sky high from Takeshi Obata's attack. Lazz fell to the ground in pain as he tried to slowly turn around and see what just happened. However, before he could he got shocked with 12,000 volts of electricity. This gave Lazz first-degree burns all over his body and steam raised from him like he had caught on fire and got splashed with water. Lazz, completely confused looked up to see Takeshi Obata with a huge smile on his face as lighting formed in his hands and sparked a few times.
"I.....should .........have............known........it wouldn't.............be .........that.........easy." Lazz said weakened from the attack.
"How foolish you are to believe you could complete your mission that easily." Takeshi Obata said happily.
Takeshi Obata laughed evilly and didn't stop for a while. Lazz looked around but found nothing near him to help him out. He instead took cover behind a large rock. He wasn't sure what he should do next. However, he had to complete his mission. It meant everything to him. He took a deep breath and with that he pulled out a R.P.G launcher and smiled.
"I'm sorry to end this so quickly, but I'm kind of in a rush!" Lazz shouted.
Just then Takeshi Obata reached his hand out and a long stream of lightning appeared to jet out from his hand, which shocked Lazz before he could fire his R.P.G. launcher, and instead made him pull the trigger while it was pointed at the large rock. This caused a huge explosion and large chunks of rock fell and piled on top of Lazz crushing him to no end. Takeshi Obata laughed even more as he knew there was nothing Lazz could do but slowly die under more than 4300 pounds of rock.
