The Road: a poem
a poem that came to me in a moment of inspiration. I happen to like it, and the mistakes aren't all bad. I think.
As the full moon rises,
Over the well trodden road,
There is a pup,
A traveler,
Under the sky,
Under the stars,
Wondering where he is going,
As the road goes on and on.
The way,
Once clear as day,
Has forked and forked again,
On the road that goes on and on.
He is leaving some companions behind,
And gaining some new friends,
On the road that goes on and on.
Some travelers,
Some past companions,
Some never met,
Meet misfortune on the road,
Finding an end,
Never to return,
Or giving in to the darkness inside,
On the road that goes on and on.
The pup,
Gains companions,
Gains a family,
Gains wisdom,
And the road goes on and on.
Soon,
As the pup tires,
The dawn breaks,
Over the weary travelers,
Over the road,
The well-trodden road,
The road that goes ever on.
