A few weeks had past since the last chapter. Everything seemed to be fine between Ty and Terry, at least they thought. I'm not giving any more away here.

Love, Life, and Everything in Between

Chapter 2: Summer School Starts

A couple of weeks had gone by since freshman year had ended for Ty. He and Terry had spent almost every day together, their bond had grown really strong but, Ty still felt that there was still something missing, something unsettling. As usual when it came to this feeling, he just brushed it off and ignored it, telling himself everything was fine between them.

"Hey Ty, what's goin on in that head of yours now? You're thinkin about us again?"

"No, not really.......Yeah, but I'm also thinking about tomorrow."

"Dude at least its only one class, it could have been two."

"Yeah I know but, I still have to go, and I'm totally bummed out about it. Do you know when that class starts? Seven in the morning! Normal school doesn't even start that early."

"Yeah I know, but look at it this way, it's only a couple hours and then you can do whatever you want. Hey there might even be a cute guy that thinks you're like totally hot or something."

"Terry, why are you doing this to me? Do you really hate me or are you just cruel."

"Come on Ty, I thought we're past this, it didn't feel wrong did it? The last couple of times we did it, you were okay right?"

"Yeah, I suppose so, but its you, I'm okay with you. You're my best friend. I don't know what I'd be like with someone else."

"Then try to let it go Ty, please? At least for now okay? If you're only comfortable being with me, that's fine but stop lying to yourself, I can't stand to watch you crack like you did before. You don't deserve that."

Terry sat there silently for a moment, when he noticed some gum stuck on his tail. "I know we both agreed to this and we should be okay, I've been trying to make this work but you really don't seem into it."

Ty stared at the television blank faced and drifted back into thought. Meanwhile, Terry was trying to pull the gum out of his tail. Ty's cousin was at his house earlier and left gum on the steps where they were sitting.

"Ty, I hate your cousin." Terry was getting frustrated because he couldn't remove the gum. He had already hacked off so much fur just in one spot, that he had a bald spot on the side, where everyone would be able to see it.

"Ty seriously, this is frickin' ridiculous already!"

"Geez, hold on a minute, let me get some ice."

"What do you need ice for?"

"To freeze the gum, it'll come out easier."

"Huh? Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Because, you didn't ask."

Ty got up out of his chair and walked into the kitchen to get some ice from the freezer. His mom gave him a smile as he walked past her, he gave a small smile back and made his way to the fridge. He opened the freezer door and went back into his thoughts. "Its not you and me I'm worried about any more".

Ty walked back into the living room with a few cubes of ice.

"Here, put this on the gum and hold it there till it gets hard. Then, you can cut it out without it spreading."

Terry did as Tyler said and put the ice on the gum. He sat impatiently on the couch holding the ice. As he held it on his tail it continued to melt, and run down the bald spot he had cut out.

"Ty I swear, the next time I see your cousin, I'm gonna hit him."

"Its not that bad Terry, you'll be able to hide that spot without a problem. Hurry up and get rid of the gum, I don't wanna be cooped up in the house all day."

Terry felt the gum was hard enough that it wouldn't stick to his paws. "Alright, say bye-bye sticky goo."

The little dog cut the frozen gum out of his tail and threw it in the trash. "So, uh, Ty where'd you want to go then?"

"Not really sure, I just don't want to be in the house."

The two furs said goodbye to Zeta and walked out of the house and made their way down the street. As the boys walked, they noticed a new face coming out of an apartment where another old friend used to live. It was a teenage pit-bull, muscular but thin, and wearing a basketball uniform. His fur was predominately white with brown spots in miscellaneous areas. As the dog proceeded to lock up his apartment and walk down his front steps, the two furs continued to watch him. The pit-bull opened the front gate and walked out. As he turned to go down the street, Terry and Tyler started to walk past him.

"Hey" the pit-bull said lightly with a smile.

"H-Hi" came from the other two.

The two boys continued walking down the street towards the video store, "Hey Terry, who was he? I've never seen him before, wasn't that Cole's old apartment?"

"Yeah it was and, no I haven't"

Cole was an old friend of theirs they had met in summer camp years ago and had been friends since. But he had to move to Michigan to live with his grandma when his parents died in a car wreck. The incident didn't happen that long ago, less than six months.

"Hey Ty, I know that Cole moved but, when did he get all his stuff out of there. I don't even remember seeing a moving van."

"I don't know pup, your guess is as good as mine."

The two furs made it to the video store and decided they would go in to see if anything new had been released.

"Hey Ty, you don't want to go to the park do you?"

"Why would I want to go to the park, there's nothing to do there."

"I don't know, I thought maybe we might see someone we knew."

"I know where I want to go, I'm gonna go to the Art Oasis. You can come if you want."

"Ty it's always boring there, there's nothing to do."

That's because you suck at drawing. Besides, I want to talk to Kelly anyway. I'm having trouble with a technique."

Terry huffed and puffed but he didn't want to go home, and he didn't really want to leave Ty alone the last day before summer school. Ty had promised that they would hang out everyday until then, and Terry was going to make sure he did. The two furs walked around the video store looking at movies and games but neither of them decided there was anything they wanted to rent, so they left the store and made their way to the wolf's destination of choice.

As they walked down the street, they took a look at some new stores that had recently popped up in the neighborhood. The block was adorned with new wave stores: snowboard and skateboard, internet cafes, special interest shops. The block had really taken a new turn and was built so quickly. "Hey Tyler, can we go in to some of these places on the way back?"

"Haven't you been in any of them yet?"

"No, I've only window shopped, been afraid I'd stick out in a place like this."

"It's not that big of a deal. The people who run these stores are cool."

"You mean you've been in them before?"

"Yep."

"That is so not fair Tyler."

The wolf gave the Sheppard a fake evil eye and stuck his tongue out, teasing him. Terry didn't like to be teased, but never griped about the wolf doing it him.

The two furs continued their way down the street to make their way to the oasis. The Art Oasis was a place Ty's mother took him for the first time when he was twelve. He wanted to learn how to draw comic books and other cool things but outside from drawing a picture from a magazine or comic, he had trouble with is own work. Ever since the start of his classes, he and his instructor Kelly have been great friends. They finally got to the oasis but, it was closed. "Oh man!! What the...... They're never closed this early today."

"I don't know Ty, maybe something happened, or maybe they saw you coming."

Terry gave a little giggle as Ty fumed. "That's real funny smart-ass. Lets just go back home."

"Hey....... I thought we were gonna check out those stores."

Terry could see that there was still something on the wolf's mind and this was probably the way he was going to escape it for a while. "Hey Ty, why don't we go back to your house and you can take a little nap, it might be good for ya you know."

Ty just nodded his head and continued walking depressed with his ears pressed against his head. He was really disappointed and everyone that passed him could see it. The lupine just took in the Sheppard's words. He walked down the street slouched over carrying a grimace on his muzzle.

"Ty................ what's wrong pup?"

Tyler wasn't quick to respond to Terry's question, instead he just kept to himself not wanting to further burden his friend with anymore problems.

"Ty, its okay you can tell me, anything that's on your mind, you know that don't you?"

Still, the depressed wolf didn't utter a word. Terry felt some form of mistrust but, he knew it wasn't the case. He knew that there was something on Ty's mind but, he didn't know what.

"Ty, I want to be an ear for you, just talk to me."

Finally, Ty looked at his friend, as if he was ready to say something. "Terry, I just wanted to get things off my mind and sometimes I feel that drawing is the only way to do that. I was really hoping to do some drawing with Kelly, It usually helps."

Terry looked softly at the wolf. "Ty its okay, you know that you can draw at home too. I may not be able to draw well, but if it helps you out, I'd be glad to sit down with you and we could do it together."

Ty's ears pressed back against his head. "I appreciate that Terry but, this is kinda the issue in the first place. You've been on my mind ever since that night and, we're cool, well, at least I think we are but, when I think of us, I think about, what if our parents found out, what would they do? Would we still be able to be friends, or would they separate us? Terry, I don't want to worry you anymore, let's just go home, kay?"

Terry was fine for a moment before the wolf's words kicked in, then he started thinking the same thoughts. "What if they do find out, what happens then?" The two boys continued their walk back home in total silence. Terry never really thought far enough ahead to the aftermath of outing himself to his parents, and they were laid back but, to what extent?

Looking at the wolf with a troubled look on his face, the Sheppard finally let the thought sink in. "Um.....hey....Ty, uh........I think I figured it out, why you've been so depressed lately. I mean, I must be stupid or something, cause I just got it. You're right........ we should be worried and, I'm sorry for not getting it."

Ty looked back at the dog. "You see? I'd rather have you as my closest friend and be around you all the time than not be around you at all. You know Pup, you were right the entire time, we shouldn't have let this be a serious thing between us."

The little dog was shocked and a little upset at the gesture but, those were his words and it was the best path to go down now. He didn't want to lose Ty as a friend either. Reluctant to agree, he finally gave the wolf a slow, unsure nod. The two pups started their walk home completely forgetting about the rest of their afternoon agenda and walked back home in an awful funk.

As they got back to Tyler's apartment, Zeta opened the kitchen door, looking at the two downtrodden youths. "What is the matter with you two? You seemed in a much better mood when you left, what happened to you while you were out?"

The little wolf couldn't bear to tell his mother what was going on in fear that she would lose it and the two boys would never see each other again. His eyes told truth while his mouth told lies. "Nothing's wrong mom, we're fine.......really."

"Tyler, you're my son I can tell when something isn't right. Now I want you to tell me what happened."

Tyler looked at his mom but only tears came out, he just couldn't bring himself to say what he really wanted to. "Mom I.... I c-can't, I want to but, I can't.......... not now.

Zeta was thrown by her son's demeanor, she didn't know why the pup was so disheartened and she couldn't get the reason to come out of him. All she could do was, give him a hug, and tell him that things were going to be okay. "Terry, what's wrong with him, you know better than me, you're always with him? What happened to him?"

Now the little Sheppard started getting edgy, his once free-swinging tail, now straight as a stick and, just as stiff. His muzzle pointed down toward his feet, and his right foot started to get jittery. Zeta knew something was definitely wrong now. "Alright you two, what's going on? Neither of you are leaving unless you talk."

Both canids felt their hearts jump out of their chests. Ty looked at Terry with a face that exuded nothing but utter fear and sorrow, while Terry returned the same stare. Both boys new that this was the end of their friendship, the just didn't think it was going to happen so soon. "I shouldn't have come back to the house, we should've just went to the fuckin park" Ty thought to himself knowing now that he couldn't avoid this situation, his mother tapping her foot on the floor, waiting for the answer.

"Tyler, I promise I won't get angry with you, just tell me what's wrong."

The wolf couldn't choke on his tongue any more, and when it came out, he felt like fireworks were exploding inside of him. He felt immense pressure on his chest, and his ears were burning. "It's me and Terry mom, we..........did some things a couple of weeks ago. We didn't exactly think about it before we did them. Things just kinda happened an........."

Zeta cut off the young wolf, now relieved to know what's been tormenting him for the last few weeks. "Sweetie, is that what you were worried about all this time? I thought it was something way worse, Not that that's really a good thing either but."

"Do you mean you knew about us? How?"

I checked on you the night I came home from Jonathan's birthday, and saw you two "Roped" together so to speak wrapped in each other's arms. At the time, I thought it was kind of precious. At the same time I wanted to say something about it too. I'm not exactly thrilled about it but, every kid goes through this stage, a stage of sheer curiosity. They want to know what it feels like, what they look like, which one is bigger. It's a totally normal thing.

"S-So...... y-you're not mad at me then?"

"I told you that I wasn't, didn't I?"

Terry decided to add his part, since they were both found out anyway. "D-Did you know that we've done it a few other time's after that as well?"

Zeta looked a little confused but she started to get the picture. She was worried that maybe things were a little more serious than she thought and maybe she should really listen to what these pups were saying. "No, I didn't know that. Are you boys telling me that you've made a decision here?"

Terry spoke once more. "K-Kinda, it's my fault, I told Ty that I had "those" feelings for him and things just seemed to happen this way. I felt a lot closer to him then before when we were just friends. Just..... If you're not gonna ever let me come over here again I have to say that, I really do love him but, I'd rather be just a friend to him then nothing at all."

Tyler didn't say a word, his stomach was speaking enough for him already. The other two could hear the grumbles coming from him.

"Well, Tyler do you feel the same way about Terry?"

The wolf got choked up once more and couldn't speak a word but, he padded over to the little Sheppard and wrapped his arms around his friend, burying his muzzle in the little dog's neck.

"I see" came from the captivated she-wolf as she watched her only son find affection in the arms of another male. She knew now that this was definitely a serious decision made by the two, and not just an adolescent "stage".

"I said it before boys, I'm not happy about this but, if this the road you were truly meant to go down, then I'll support you but you have to come clean............... with everyone."

The wolf weakly shook his head as he whispered into Terry's ear and the two walked into his room. "Terry, do you still feel the same about earlier, even though all this happened the way it did?"

"I still feel it would be a good idea, at least that way, we always will have each other. I'm gonna go home, you get some sleep, and try to have a good day tomorrow. We'll still hang out after school for sure." The wolf just nodded and crawled into bed, the Sheppard waited. Once his friend went to lie down, he leaned over and gave him a small lick in the ear. Tyler rolled over and grabbed Terry's paw. He pulled him down into the bed, just far enough that he could return the display of affection.

As Terry walked out of Tyler's bedroom, he saw Zeta still standing in the same place she was earlier. She had her arms crossed the same way as before, tapping her foot on the floor. "Come here Terry."

The little dog gulped, and his ears pressed against his head. "Oh, come here, I'm not gonna beat you. I just want to say, the same thing goes for you okay. I'm not happy about the situation but, you're like a son to me too so, I will support your decision but, you too, have to come clean." The she-wolf gave the little dog a hug and sent him on his way home.

The dim, earlier morning light crept into Tyler's room shining onto his still closed eye lids. 5:30 A.M. flashed on his alarm clock and the buzzer sounded. He rolled over to shut off the alarm, stretching as he did so. As he wiped his groggy eyes clean, he looked at the clock, his mortal enemy for the next few weeks. "Mom probably isn't up yet, even she doesn't have to be up his early."

He padded his way to the bathroom like he usually did to get ready in the morning. "Looking a little grubby this mornin', oh well." The only thing that the young wolf was looking forward to summer school for was that he didn't have to dress up. There was no dress code so he could wear whatever he wanted including his earrings and collar. He had four hoops, two in each ear and a thick chain-link collar, which he wore every day. They were a birthday present from Terry so he never took them off, except for school.

He finished up in the bathroom and went back into his room to get dressed. He stuck his head out of his bedroom window to see how hot it was. Only at almost six in the morning, and it felt like it was ninety degrees outside. He went into his dresser and pulled out a black tank top and a black pair of cargo short. He finished dressing and started looking around for his wallet and keys. He picked his belongings up off of his dresser and made his way out of the house.

He made his routine walk to the train the way he always did, down the alley and cutting through the yards. As he padded down the street he realized that someone was behind him. As he kept walking he could hear the steps behind him getting closer and closer. Finally the steps were right beside him, and as he turned his head, he could see the face a teenage Pit-bull speeding right past him, half asleep.

Now being behind him, Tyler continued to follow the dog down into the subway, pulling out his transit card. He walked up to the turn-style and put his card in but there was no money on the card. He quickly ran to the card machine to load more money onto it, hoping he wasn't going to miss his train. He ran back to the turn-styles to get down to the platform, as he heard a train coming. As he quickened his step to a run, he flew down the stairs only to find out that it wasn't his train. Feeling relieved, he slowed down to catch his breath. Many people got on the train, many got off. He never saw this many people up this early in the morning during the week before. He didn't know how they all could do it. As the sea of people cleared off of the platform, he once again saw a familiar face. He walked toward the Pit-bull sitting on the only bench available. He walked past the dog and sat on the end of the bench. As he sat waiting for his train, he felt a pair of eyes staring at him. He turned his head to see the dog looking at him. The Pit had very light brown eyes that were at the moment, squinting due to the light. Ty offered a smile to the dog. The Pit retuned the gesture, only, in a weak and tired manner. "Early morning isn't it?" asked the dog.

"Yeah, it sure is. So, where are you headed off to so early?"

The dog politely answered back. "I'm going to take a guess it's the same place your going. Summer school right?"

The train finally arrived at the end of the tunnel, slowing down to almost a crawl as it approached the platform. The two boys reluctantly got up to wait for the doors to open. The train crawled to the platform and stopped. As the doors opened, the two shuffled on to the train looking for somewhere to sit. Ty saw an open row of seats all the way at the back of the car, and started padding towards it. He took a seat and looked behind him to see if the Pit-bull had followed. He saw him still standing next to the door and signaled him to come over. "You want to sit with me? It's okay, I don't bite."

"That's too bad" lowly spoke the Pit as he smiled and padded over to slide into the seat. Looking at the dog, Ty had a bewildered look on his face. He thought he was being played with.

"Thank you, my name is Alex, Alex Meade, how ‘bout you?" Ty only sat there blank-faced staring at the dog.

"How's your jaw, is it hurt or something?" Alex asked the question while extending his paw to shake Ty's.

"N- No, my jaw is fine. My name is Tyler Dennison. Most people just call me Ty."

"Well, it's very nice to meet you Ty, but I have to ask, you seem to be like totally freaked out to me."

"No, it's nothing....... Really, I'm okay."

"Has anybody ever told you that you're a bad liar? It was the biting, comment wasn't it?"

"Yeah, kind of, are........are you......uh, you know."

"Am I.......what?"

"You know....... do you like..... get into? Are you playing with me or something?"

"Am I gay?"

"I didn't want to ask that but......."

"Yeah, I am, and I'm cool with it, my parents are too. They opened their horizons with my brother Shaun. He came out of the closet a long while back, apparently it's in our bloodline so when I came out at fifteen they were a little shocked but truthfully, they knew it was coming."

"Wow! You're really open about this stuff. I mean its cool and all but, do you usually share this much with guys you don't know?"

"Not really but, you have a gentle face and, there's something about you. I figure since we're both gonna be making this trip every morning, maybe we could get to know each other. Uh, you are going to Wyatt Tech right?"

"Uh, yeah I am, are you gonna be a new student there or something?"

"No, no.... I go to "Near North" right on the corner. This'll be my sophomore year."

"That's funny, when did you start going there, I think I would have remembered seeing you in the neighbor hood."

"I just moved in, well, you know where. We passed each other yesterday. You were walking with a friend weren't you?"

"Y-y-yeah, hey that was you! I thought it was but, I wasn't sure. You look so different from yesterday."

"Early mornings will do that to you. So, I heard you and your friend talking as you walked past me. You had a friend that lived in that place before?"

"It's a long story but to make it short, we met in summer camp, been friends since, and then there was a tragedy. His parents were killed and well, he kinda got forced to move out of state with family. We both miss him, he was really cool."

"Well I'm sorry to hear about your loss but, I hope you'd like to gain a new friend."

"I have a question...........Did you know about me............. or something?"

"I had a guess. I think it was they way your friend kept looking at you"

The train "dinged" for their stop. "We should get going" came from the wolf. The dog only nodded in agreement. Neither of them wanted to go to their destination. Summer school was such a drag, especially with weather like this. They could be at the beach, or watching movies, but, they were stuck coming here.

As they got to the main street level, they started crossing the street, making their way to the bus stop. "Do you know where we're going cause', I've never been here before."

The wolf gave a little giggle. "Well, this was my old school. I don't know where I'm gonna be going next year. My mom wasn't too happy about any of this, especially about what happened earlier in the year."

"W-What happened earlier this year?"

"I walked into the restroom to find two boys going at each other if you know what I mean."

The Pit-bull nervously giggle and rubbed his head. "heh-heh-heh-heh, uh, yeah, I know what you mean. Did it bother you seeing that?"

"No, not really, it's just that there's a time and place for everything and, in school, in the toilet, that's just not the time and place."

"I know what you mean. Uh, I have a question, so uh, do you have a........ uh, someone special?"

Ty looked at the dog with misbelieve. "Are you offering?"

"Well no, I was just curious....................Hey...........wait a sec."

The two stopped talking for a second while the bus pulled up. As they got on the bus and grabbed a seat, Alex' curiosity was definitely peaked. "I wonder if.....no, probably not. Every time I find a cute guy he's either straight or taken." Meanwhile, Ty sat next to Alex, returning the curious stare pointed at him.

"You're trying to figure me out aren't you?" The wolf asked.

"N-No, I was just thinking, it's always my luck to............"

Before he could finish his sentence, the wolf cut him off. "Fall for someone you probably can't have?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm sorry Ty, I'm probably making you a little uncomfortable huh?"

"No, not really, actually, I think it's kinda cute. I've never had anyone look at me the way you do."

"Uh.........Ty, I was wondering if you would be willing to answer that question I asked earlier."

The wolf took a breath and deeply exhaled." Sure, I suppose I could do that. To answer your question, I don't have a significant other. I did for a few weeks but very recently, had to break up."

"W-Why did you do that?"

"Well, it wasn't really a choice. My best friend Terry, who you saw me walking with that day, and I kind of "found" ourselves on night and things seemed to be okay, except that we, well, were afraid that if our parents found out, we'd never see each other again. So, we did the only thing we thought would work and broke up. We found out later that our parents knew about our "activities" and weren't happy about it, but they were okay. Even after everything was put out in the open, we decided that it would still be better to just be friends. Now even though we're closer than we've ever been, I just constantly feel so........... alone."

Alex felt a little embarrassed for prying into the wolf's life after hearing that, He gently grabbed one of Ty's paws and turned to face him. Before the wolf could say anything, Alex gave him a small lick on the cheek. Not expecting this to happen, Ty's eyes popped open in disbelief. "Oh my God Ty, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have done that. If you want to hit me I understand."

Ty came back down to earth and looked the Pit in the eyes. "No, no, it's okay. I don't want to hit you. I just wasn't expecting that."

"Ty, I just...............Nobody should have to feel alone like that all the time. I th......" Right before Alex finished his sentence, Tyler returned the lick. Alex sat in his seat with his paw lightly pressed on his neck where Ty had licked him. With the dog sitting motionless and speechless, the wolf tried to get Alex's attention.

"Are you okay?" asked the wolf, shaking a paw in front of the dog's eyes.

"Yeah, yeah......I'm okay, it was just unexpected. I know I've only known you for about forty-five minutes but........ I think that maybe........ I really uh.....kinda like you. I had this "feeling" when I walked past you yesterday and then meeting you today, it's............."

"Well, if it helps, I think I kinda like you too."

As the two furs finished their current conversation, the bus rolled to a stop. "Hey, come one, this is our exit" Ty said quietly.

"So this is your school huh? I was expecting it to be a little bigger." The furs made their way off of the bus and started padding their way across the street.

"Alex, we can finish this conversation later on the way home. Since you don't know where you're going, would you like a quick tour so you know how to get to your classes?"

"Really? That would be great, you're so sweet."

The boys made their way into the school and stopped when they got to the middle of the lobby. Tyler looked at the dog, "So, what classes do you have to take?"

"Just algebra, isn't that stupid? It makes no sense. I don't even know why they make us learn this stuff."

The wolf giggled, "You know I've thought the same thing all year. The funny thing is I failed the same class, maybe its fate huh?"

The dog looked at the wolf like he was mocking him. "You're pulling my tail right? It's just a ploy to get my hopes up?"

The wolf pulled out his class assignment. "Nope, see? I swear it's the truth. I almost had two classes for flunking a computer class too. Well, I didn't exactly fail. I was gonna be failed for cheating but, that was cleared up. Well, since we are in the same class, do you want to sit together?"

Alex's tail started wagging, "Of course I do silly, what do you think?"

The two furs made their way down the hall and up the stairs. Their class was on the second floor. It was the same room Ty's algebra class was in during the normal school year. The halls were filled with furs and humans alike from all over the area. Neither one of the furs had ever had to go to summer school before. It was like a maiden voyage on a cruise ship. It was like the first day of school all over again. As they walked down the hall, there were many youths, most likely from public schools from the way they were dressed. Dyed hair and dyed fur, many earrings, nose rings, and lip piercings were worn by many of the students. Only in public school were the kids allowed to express themselves like this. Ty and Alex made their way through the sea of culture, into their classroom. Looking around, the wolf saw there were some familiar faces but, a lot of unfamiliar faces as well. "Think it would be safe to sit in the front of the class?" came from the dog.

The wolf turned to speak. "I'd bet money. I don't know about you but I only want to be here once." The dog just shook his head in agreement.

About seven minutes had passed by before the morning bell rang. A lanky Hispanic man walked through the door, closing it as he entered. "Good morning class, my name is Edward Vargas." He was fairly thin but tall, wearing loose blue jeans and a denim shirt. He had long straight black hair with a soul patch on his face surrounded by a little bit of stubble. He wore a pair of glasses with circular lenses wire-framed, slightly loose, hanging down on his face.

As Mr. Vargas began to speak, he pushed the glasses up toward his eyes. "Alright guys, we all know why we're here right? So, let's try a little harder during round two huh? I know what you're all thinking. "Algebra sucks" right? Well that maybe true, unfortunately, it's a critical part of you're high school curriculum so you need this credit to graduate. You do want to graduate don't you?" Some of the class spoke out in agreement. Some of the class made cocky comments. Some of the class said nothing at all.

As their instructor finally started the morning's lesson, Ty sat blank-faced thinking about the events of the morning. He thought about going places doing things, but most importantly to him. Doing them all with Alex. He knew he was getting ahead of himself but, it almost seemed like divine intervention with all that happened between him and his best friend. Maybe this all happened for a reason, he didn't know, but at the moment he didn't care. He sat in his daydream until he heard a faint voice. "Hey.....Ty, wake up, we gotta go."

"We gotta go where?"

"We gotta get out of here silly. Didn't you hear the bell ring? Class is out!"

They made their way back down the hall to the stairwell. Walking around, there were many new things that Tyler noticed, that weren't there during the school year. There were many photos on the wall. There were many ads, decorations and event memos. The walls had a new color on them. The floors were polished to a brilliant luster. The hallways in general had a different smell. They got to the stairwell and walked down, making their way to the main lobby. As the two furs got to the main doors, Ty felt an arm wrap around his neck. He turned and smiled, "Hey, you couldn't wait till we, w- why- what? Huh?" thinking it was Alex, but then seeing the face of someone else.

"Hey there D-Wolf, what're you guys up to? I see Terry's put on a few pounds and got a......Hey wait...... that's a not ........Terry is it?"

The two furs giggled as Tyler realized it was Nolan on his shoulders. "No, it's not Terry. Besides, I thought he was a German Sheppard. He's a new friend. I met him this morning on the train. His name is Alex. Anyway what are you doing here, I thought you had to pass your classes to stay on the team."

The Doberman chuckled, "I'm not in summer school. We practice during the summer too, gotta stay on top of the game ya know. I got plans to get a scholarship to Notre Dame if all goes well."

"Wow Nolan, that's awesome, I had now idea you wanted to go pro." In the midst of their conversations Alex stood next to Ty with a smile on his muzzle, rubbing his arm nervously. He didn't know much about his new friend so he just stood and watched, listening to him interact with the other fur, until the conversation was finally brought in his direction.

"So yeah, like I was saying, Alex, this is Nolan, he uh....helped me out a bit this year. He's a real good friend to have, and a pretty nice guy, for a junior. And well Alex, I met him this morning on the way to the train. He actually just moved into my neighborhood where my old friend Cole used to live. Funny how things work out some times huh?"

"Alex huh, well it's real nice to meet ya bud."

"Yup, you too."

Nolan stirred around anxiously looking at his watch. "Well, it's been great talking to you guys but ah... I gotta get goin' cause' I'm already late. I got a summer job."

Ty grabbed Nolan's wrist as he was turning away to leave. "Hey Nol, wait a sec. I know you're late but I have to say something really quick. I just wanted to say thanks again for everything, especially with Tony. I'm not coming back next year so I figured I should probably say something before you left."

"Hey man, not a problem. Sorry to hear you won't be back but, you got my cell. Take care of your self D-Wolf. Al, again, nice ta meet you. See you guys later. With that, the Doberman ran out of the school and the other two canids shortly followed.

"Why does he call you "D-Wolf"? It sounds like kind of a weird nickname."

"You know, I really don't know. I did kick a couple of jock's asses last year. Maybe it's because of that. All I know is it caught on quick, cause' all of my friends here call me that now." The Pit-bull just gave the wolf a little giggle and a wink about the explanation as they continued to walk down the street to the corner.

The bus stopped at the light, opening the doors so the two youths could get on. Both paid their fair and made their way into the bus. Alex found a couple empty seats, far at the back of the bus. Alex let Ty sit down near the window, while he sat in the aisle. As the bus started to move, Ty closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them to focus on the moving scenery outside. Alex looked at the daydreaming wolf, asking him what he was thinking about. (Snap-snap) "Hello, are you there?" The Pit snapped his fingers in the wolf's ear trying to get his attention.

"Sorry" the wolf replied. "I was just kind of taking everything in, ya know?"

"Uh-huh........Hey Ty? I just wanted to know if you thought about us at all yet as maybe a "definitely" yet."

Tyler looked at the Pit-bull and put a big smile on. "Absolutely, are you kidding? You're all I've been thing about since I met you this morning. You just kinda seem to be stuck in my head."

"Okay well, what about your friend then?"

"The feeling was mutual to move on. He'd be happy for me, maybe even a little jealous."

"Then do you think maybe we could hang out together today?"

"You don't mind meeting new people do you? My friend Terry is waiting for me to call him. We were supposed to be doing something today. Do you wanna come?"

The Pit bull was excited, his tail wagging in a rather quick pace. He grabbed the wolf's paw and held on to it tightly. "I'd love to, if it's okay with your friend."

"Ah, don't worry about it. He loves people, and attention. You'll be fine."

The bus sounded for their exit. "This is our stop" came from the wolf as he grabbed the dog and pulled him out of the bus. They could see the train loading on the platform. Knowing that if they didn't get down to the platform right now, they would have to wait another fifteen minutes. Ty gripped the dog's paw tightly and yanked him as he ran down the stairs. They flew through the turn-styles and down yet another set of stairs, finally reaching the platform. As they approached the train, the doors started to close on them. The two furs just kept running until they got to the doors. Tyler slid between the doors pulling Alex with him. The Pit-bull made it through the doors just as they closed.

"Yelp!!!!" came from the dog, as the tip of his tail got caught in the door. "Owweeeee.......That really hurts."

"I'm really sorry Alex. I just hate waiting for the train."

"No, it's not your fault. They just don't make these things "Fur Friendly", do they?"

Alex and Tyler finally caught their breath and looked for a couple of seats to crawl into. The train felt good, the air conditioning running at the maximum settings, cool wind hitting them in every direction. It was a nice little break from the hellish heat of the early afternoon. The train ride was ridiculously long on the way back to their neighborhood. There were several stops on the way, and the train travelled much slower than their morning ride. There were much more people on the train now, and looking as much as they, could failed to find a place to sit. Ty and Alex both really wanted to finish their conversation, but with so many people on the train, they didn't really say anything to each other.

With no seating, the two furs stood in front of the doors. Alex was standing in front of Tyler, both of them holding onto a handrail. Alex was feeling slightly flirty. He turned around to see the wolf's face, looking at him. Alex gave out a little giggle, Tyler smiled in return. Alex turned back around and stared at the window. "Are you okay Alex?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks"

After the brief words, Ty moved closer to Alex. The dog could feel the wolf's stomach pressing up against his back. Alex turned to look back at Tyler once more, "It's okay, really" came from the Lupine's muzzle, before Alex rested his head on Ty's shoulder.

The number of people on the train kept growing larger in numbers. Ty and Alex knew they would be getting off soon, just not soon enough. "Is it getting warm in here? Or is it just me?" asked the dog.

"No, it's getting warm."

"Do you want me to stop laying on you?"

"No it's okay."

Alex turned back around, finding his eyes set on an old man giving them a snide glare. His eyes moved down to the floor, while Tyler's were staring right back at the man. The wolf nuzzled into the Pit's neck and closed his eyes. Alex fell back onto Ty's shoulder, feeling a little more at ease now. As the train slowed down, a loud voice came over the intercom, "Division is the next stop, Division". The train finally pulled to a halt, and the doors finally opened releasing the enormous amount of heat from the overstocked train car. Ty and Alex found their way off the train. "Sick, disgusting" came from the old man staring at them.

"Just let it go Alex" came from the wolf, watching the dog's hackles raise and his teeth grit.

"I really wish people would stop being so close-minded. I don't think, they think before they open their mouths."

"Yeah, I know but, we made a choice and we have to live with it."

The two furs made their way out of the subway and up the steps to the street. This wasn't the first time someone made a remark to Alex before, it probably wouldn't be the last. Either way for some reason, this time it stung, it really hurt. Why was his affection toward a male, any different than a male's affection toward a female? This feeling was like a mosquito bite, sinking just beneath the skin, itching, irritating and, the more it was scratched, the more it burned. "See, how cruel people can be sometimes. That probably hasn't happened to you yet, has it?"

"No, I can't say it has."

"Well, that's pretty much the norm when you show a public display of affection."

"Fuck'em. You know, my Grandma used to tell me that, "There's somebody for everybody and you can't help who you fall in love with". Those were her words, and I always believed her. Don't let this bother you. Just consider the.........."

"Source and ignore it, I know. My brother tells me that all the time."

"Just out of curiosity, how many times has that happened to you?"

"Short answer, enough. Hanging with my brother and his friends at clubs and stuff. He has some really "colorful" friends/ I mean, they're cool but, when you hang around them it's pretty much all eyes on you."

"How did you even get in to clubs, you're not old enough."

"Shaun owns them, he lets me in cause I'm family. He says that some day, he wants to make enough money over here to open a few clubs in Europe, where the real money's made."

"Wow, enthusiastic. Well, never mind all that, let's talk about the present. I mean what I said, and I mean what I did on the train. I think I really like being close to you, my mom knows about me now too, so it wouldn't be a shock to her. I'm a lot more comfortable with this situation now. With that said, let's get going so I can introduce you to Terry."

The furs made their way down Division, walking under awnings or store fronts if they could, any way to stay cool in the grueling summer heat. Walking past a bank there was a sign with a digital clock display, as well as a thermometer. Ty slowed down to see the temperature as they walked under it. The display read "104 degrees". They both knew it was hot out, but Ty really started to regret wearing black that day. Between the dark clothes and his dark, thick fur, he couldn't stop sweating. Alex was hot, but not as uncomfortable. Since he was a short-hair, and his fur was mostly white, it didn't absorb the heat like Tyler's coat. None the less, it was still unbearable. Tyler continued walking with Alex down the street, pulling and prodding at his shirt. It was completely wet, soaked by his sweat.

"I think I might need a shower and a change of clothes before I go anywhere else today."

Alex cocked his head to the right with one ear perked. He had a smile on his face and only turned his head enough to barely look at the wolf in the eyes. "I don't know. I kinda like what I'm seeing now." The Pit-bull kept combing over the wolf's body with his eyes, focusing on the definition beneath the fur. He knew one day he wouldn't have to sneak peeks at him. He just didn't know how long it would be. But at the moment, he was enjoying himself being playful with his friend.

"Hey Tyler, do you want to meet me at my house or do you just want to go together. I just want to change my shirt and drop my book bag."

"Well, why don't we go to your house, so you can drop off your stuff, and then we'll go back to mine?"

"Okay."

They walked down the street passing Tyler's house. As he passed his window, he could see his grandmother in the kitchen doing laundry. They made their way to the end of the block, crossing the street, and crossing the little store on the corner. Five houses down, and they finally got to Alex's gate. The Pit-bull started fishing for his keys in one of his pockets, and pulled out a ring with only one key. Tyler looked at the ring in a slightly curious manner. "You only have one key for everything? That must be nice."

"Yeah, it is pretty sweet but, easier to lose." The dog opened the gate and padded up the steps to the front door. Inserting the key in the door, he unlocked it and looked back at the wolf.

"I suppose this is going to bring back some memories huh?"

"Yeah, I suppose so."

"Sorry. Well, here we are.........Mom, mom!!!!!!Are you here?!!!!" The dog called for his mother but there was no answer. Ty walked in behind Alex, checking the place out. It looked so different but so familiar at the same time. The furniture was different, but laid out almost the same. The walls were now white instead of a jade green, and there were plants, everywhere. New carpet was laid. it was a light cream color, that seemed to match the walls well. The old carpet was a light brown but heavily worn and soiled. The carpet was ripped off of the stairs, leaving a newly refinished solid oak staircase. The old paint covered banister was replaced with a new modern oak banister, finished in the same tone as the stairs. Glass shelves adorned every wall, holding very unique, expensive looking knick knacks.

"So Ty, what do you think?"

"I.........like......what you guys did with the place. It looks a lot roomier."

"Well I'm glad you like it, considering your friend used to live here. Come on, I'll let you guess which room is mine." Tyler started making his way upstairs.

"Hey, how do you know it's not down here?"

"Just a hunch."

Tyler walked down the hall, all the doors were closed, even the bathroom door. He kept walking until he came to a wide door on the right, at the end of the hall. "This is it."

"Hey, did you find it?"

"I'm pretty sure I did"

Alex ran up the stairs to see if the wolf really found his room. When he got up there, he ran into the room to find the wolf sitting on his bed. "How did you know this one was mine? It doesn't even look like a typical teenager's room."

"Well, it's your scent, that's how I knew." The dog just smiled, folding his arms and blushing.

"Let me grab a new shirt. Then we can get out of here. My mom won't be back for a few days I guess, so that leaves me free clear through the weekend."

"How do you know she won't be back for a while?"

"She left a note on the fridge. A distant relative passed away, and she had to go help with arrangements."

Alex finished digging around in his closet for his shirt. He grabbed a white tank top and a White Sox baseball cap. The cap was all white, except for the insignia, and had signatures on the side of it. He walked back over to his bed and threw the cap next to Ty. He then placed the shirt next to the cap. Tyler sat and watched as the Pit-bull willingly exposed himself in front of the wolf. Alex started to remove his old shirt, pulling it far up over his head, exposing his physique. Tyler marveled at the sight of his chest. His definition looked to be chiseled like a Greek God. He had a washboard stomach, nicely toned pecks, and just enough rib exposure to be sexy, not scrawny. He had an over all athletic tone, but slightly muscular, do to his breed. The further Alex pulled his shirt up, the more Ty could see. By the time the dog got his shirt completely pulled off, he stretched so much that he had pulled his sheathe up from his boxers, giving the wolf a little eye candy. Thick white, straight fur, covered the wide sheathe, the penal opening was black, looking to be very soft, almost silk-like. Only a few seconds had gone by, but to the young wolf, it seemed like an eternity. When Tyler finally came to his senses he was face to face with Alex. The dog had straddled himself over Tyler's lap and he hadn't even noticed it. The wolf continued to sit on the bed awestruck with the dog on his lap. Alex leaned in so that his nose was touching Tyler's. Alex could feel the mass between Tyler's legs starting to swell. Alex gave a little smile to the wolf, and gave him the smallest little lick, right on the tip of his nose. "I'd ask you if you like what you saw, but I already know the answer to that."

Ty's eyes were now focused on the Pit's face. The dog gently stroked him behind the ears, running a single finger down the middle of his forehead, onto his muzzle, and stopping at his nose. "I want to give this to you, but, not......right now. I have a special day coming up and, I want to give myself to you then. The more I think about it, I think we just might be soul mates. Normal couples don't just "click" like this."Tyler only nodded at the dog.

Alex didn't want to be rude to his new mate. He grabbed the wolf's right paw and put it on his partially exposed sheathe, forcing him to slide it downward exposing a still-soft but thick, black shaft. The bulge in the wolf's pants grew bigger once he caught the strong scent of his Pit-bull. He was completely captured by the essence Alex released from his male hood. Ty's legs grew weak as the dog gently stroked the tip of his cock with the wolf's hand. Alex's tender black flesh started to expand in his sheathe. As he stroked himself with the wolf's gentle paw, Ty leaned in and lightly lapped at the dog's neck. Alex cocked his head to the side as if to give the lupine's tongue a little more room to move, but before Tyler could lick anymore, Alex grabbed his mouth. "Hold on a minute. I know we're both really enjoying this right now but, you still need a shower, and we have to meet your friend. The fourth of July is only in a couple days. We'll be together for my fifteenth won't we?"

The wolf was edgy now because he was sexually riled up. But, he also knew that this is what they both wanted right now. They wanted to wait, till Alex's special day. Then they'd be alone together uninterrupted. Alex grabbed the shirt from the bed and slipped it on over his now aroused body. As the shirt slid down his fur, it was like being embraced by soft, gentle arms. Shaking off the feeling, he called to the wolf. "Come on Ty, let's go."

"O-On second thought. Why don't we just go to Terry's house?"

"I thought you wanted to take a quick shower?"

"If I do that, I won't be in there alone."

"Uh, um.............Well, maybe we should just go. You can leave your stuff here if you want."

The two furs made their way downstairs and out of the house. Alex locked the door and followed Ty down the stairs. They made their way out of the gate and back down the street. The turned left at the corner and crossed the street. Making their way further down the block, they passed the park's swimming pool. There were many children in the pool, many adults as well. The day was so unpleasant. It seemed as if the entire neighborhood took off of work to cool off. Nearing the end of the block they came to Noble Street, Terry's block. Looking at the wolf, Alex started to speak. "So where does your friend live anyway?"

"He lives just a few houses down this street. See that brown house there? That's his."

As they approached the house, the wolf could see the little Sheppard sitting on the balcony, bored out of his mind. "You guys do live pretty close huh?"

The wolf gave a slight shrug, "Yeah, our parents said that we're tied at the hips. Now they know it was more than a joke."

The Pit looked at the wolf with a slightly disappointed gaze. "So you uh....... Went that far huh?"

Tyler knew that what he said was probably inappropriate and started to feel bad, considering the dog's feelings. "Uh, yeah. It kinda went that far but, you have to understa.........."

Alex slipped a finger over the wolf's mouth. "Shhh........It doesn't matter now, and I completely understand. You two were lucky enough to have each other in a situation like that. Now.... Hopefully, I'm lucky to have you."

Tyler's stomach slid up into his throat for a moment as he looked for words to say, but could only give the dog a sincere smile and a wink. "I really hope so. As far as Terry goes though. Please don't make any mention of us yet. I want to talk to him alone, just to make sure that his feelings will be okay."

"But I thought you said."

"I know what I said. I also know him. Everything will be fine, just trust me. But I need to talk to him about this on my own."

The Pit-bull smiled at the wolf and put a paw on his shoulder. "Okay."

They got to Terry's house and stood under the balcony. The little dog was to busy staring at the clouds in the sky to notice them standing beneath him. "Hey pooch" came from the wolf as he tried to get the little dog's attention. It took a moment, but the Sheppard finally looked down to see his friend and another fur waiting at the door.

"I'll be right down" said Terry, as he jumped out of his chair to let the two furs in. On the way down the stairs, Alex and Tyler could hear a lot of noise moving through out the building. After a moment, the front door opened. "Hey, why didn't you call me mister? I've only been waiting for like "Ever"!" Hey, who's the new boy toy? He's cute.........He's........the guy we saw yesterday........isn't he?"

Alex stood there blushing slightly embarrassed at the little dog's straight forwardness, and Tyler's reaction was quite the same. "He's a new "friend". I met him this morning on the way to the train. His name is Alex. He moved into Cole's old place."

The little Sheppard put his fingers on his chin, raising an eye brow squinting, and put his free hand on his hip, stepping back. He started sizing up the Pit-bull. "Not bad Ty. See? What'd I tell you? You'd find some super hot guy that's totally into you."

"First off, how do you even know he's like that, and second, how do you know whether or not we're together?"

"Easy, I saw the way he looked at you yesterday, it wasn't the "Nice to meet you" smile. It was the "God your hot" smile. Secondly, I want you to be happy, and I know what a handful I can be, so you wouldn't just bring anybody over to hang with me. So he's gotta be your new squeeze."

"Well, that was easy. I was going to talk to you about him later, but, I guess now I don't have to."

"Uh, not true. I want details, and I mean Details!!!" Being in quite an awkward position, Alex felt just a little uncomfortable.

"Ahem, wow you're pretty uh.......frank aren't you?" The energetic dog just smiled, with his tail wagging in the super fast pace it always did. Ty could feel the stress being pressed on the Pit, so he stepped in to intervene.

"Alright Terry, calm down, calm down. Yes, he is my boyfriend. He's a really sweet guy. Yes, I'm extremely happy that I met him, and no, the only details your getting are how we met, that's all." The little Sheppard was a little disappointed, but at the same time, was understanding. He knew it wasn't right to be deep into someone's personal business, but at the same time, he was really excited for his best friend.

"I-I'm sorry Ty, it's just well......... I didn't really think that this would happen that fast. Oh well, I mean I'm happy for you but, I was really hoping that I'd be hooked up before you."

"Well you nailed that one on the head didn't you?" came from the Pit-bull.

Terry replied, "You mean that, you two were talking about this?"

"Well, I asked him about what you would think, and he said that you might be jealous." The little dog started to fume. It felt almost if he was being mocked.

"I can't believe you were making jokes about me Ty. I'd never do that to you."

The wolf was upset that the little dog was taking this the wrong way. "No no no, you don't understand Terry. I never made fun of you. It's just that, when we were talking I told him about us and what we went through together and, well He, wanted to make sure that you'd be alright. He was worried about your feelings. I said, knowing how you are, that you'd be happy for me, maybe even jealous. The little dog felt a little more at ease now knowing that he wasn't the butt of a joke. His tail, once again, started to wag in its usual fast manner.

Terry seemed to be really happy for his best friend. He grabbed both of then by the paw and pulled them into the house, pulling them through the living, through the kitchen and finally, out onto the rear patio. "I want to show you guys something." Came from the little dog as he drug them down the patio stairs. He pulled them all the way across the lawn to a pond of water surrounded by several plate sized, flat rocks. "I wanted to show you this. I made this for mom, it's a Koi pond. My mom hasn't been feeling good lately. She seems kind of depressed, so I made this so she has something to keep her mind off of whatever's bothering her. Do you think she'll like it?" Tyler looked at the work his little friend put into the pond. It was at least two feet deep, in the shape of some sort of flower petal design. There were flowers surrounding the entire pond, and an angel water fountain/ bird bath in the very center.

"Pup, it's beautiful. There's no way that she wouldn't like it, but, why is she feeling this way to begin with?"

"I don't really know, I mean, we had the "talk" last night and she seemed fine. I mean, she even hugged me and everything. Dad couldn't really care less. He thought we were actually doing things like that long before we actually did. All I know is that this morning when I came downstairs, she was just in an awful mood."

The couple felt bad for their friend. Alex wanted to cheer him up, but not knowing the little dog well, he wasn't sure what to do. The Pit-bull looked at the wolf with a raised brow. The wolf looked back at him and then wrapped an arm around the little Sheppard. "You know everything is going to be okay with your mom and you right?"

"Yeah.....well......at least I hope so."

"Come on Terry, let's get outta here. I know there's a movie that you've been dying to see, my treat."

"Is Alex gonna come?"

"I hope so, I want him to."

The Pit-bull looked at his friends, "I'd love to."

The little dog got excited. "Well let's get outta here then." With that, the three of them made their way back through the house and out the door.

(Later That Night)

The three furs made their way back to the neighborhood after the movie. Tyler insisted that they walk with Terry back to his house to drop him off. They got to Terry's front door and wished him a good night, after that, they took off back to Alex's house. As the little Sheppard opened the front door, there was his mother, sitting on the sofa with a box of tissue. He didn't understand what was going on but, he could smell the nervous tension in the air, and an unsafe, uneasy essence filled the room. Upstairs he heard slamming and banging, the occasional breaking of glass, and the familiar growl of a male that has lost his temper. Feeling extremely scared now. The little dog's tail slid between his legs. His ears pressed back against his head, and tears started to well up in his eyes. "Mama? W-What's going on? Is that dad? W-What's he doing up there?"

The mother Sheppard could see the immense fear in her son's eyes. Her only concern now was him. "Come here sweetie. Come and sit down by me. You know mama won't let anything happen to you right?" As the little Sheppard sat down next to his mother, she wrapped an arm around him. She could fell his scrawny little frame trembling terrified. As he sat lying in her lap, that's when they saw the door swing open. A very tall, male German Sheppard in a suit went flying through the door with three suitcases. As he made his way into the living room, he saw the pup sitting on the couch next to his mother, and dropped the luggage.

"You!!!!" he growled. "Get the FUCK out of my house!!!!!!" The pup now extremely terrified, buried himself into his mother.

"God Damn it Michael!!!!! He isn't going anywhere!"

"I didn't breed a tail raising, butt-plugging little bitch of a son! It was all that little faggot wolf he's been hanging around with all this time! See boy, see what happens when there aren't any men in your life?! You turn into a bitch! Bending over for other males to fuck you! I don't know what he did to you, but you're not my son any more! As far as I'm concerned, if you love him so FUCKING much, you can live with him!"

"He isn't going anywhere!!" growled from the female, as she gripped her son tight. The father seemed to disagree, moving closer to the pup trying to grab him. Terry had been too scared to notice at the time, that all the suitcases on the floor were his. His father raided his room and packed all his clothes, smashed and destroyed his things.

"Mama?!!" barked the terrified little Sheppard as his father closed in on him.

"Michael, don't you touch him! I swear to God if you hurt him!"

"I told you already! I'm not going to have a FAGGOT living under my roof Jeanette!!" The Large male got closer to the pup, extending his arm and reaching for the scruff of his neck. Terry felt the large paw grip the back of his neck and he started to panic.

"Michael let him go, please, that's my son!" came from the female. She was on her knees, pleading with her husband.

"I said NO!!!" The larger Sheppard yanked at the pup's neck, forcing a loud high-pitched yelp from his vocal cords. The pup now started thrashing and barking completely terrified. All of a sudden, Terry saw stars. His father had punched him in the back of the head. He started to black out, but refused to. His vision very blurry now, he saw his mother's figure jump off of the couch and run toward him.

"Terry!!! Terry sweetie, get up!!" His mother screamed as she grabbed on to her husbands arm. The pup started to come to as he felt himself hit the floor. As his vision became clearer, he saw his father push his mom onto the couch and advance toward her. The little Sheppard started to bring himself to his feet as he heard a slap, and saw his mother grab her face.

"I told you he's outta here! What part about that don't you understand?" Just as Michael withdrew his arm to slap his wife again, he felt the pup jump onto his back, knocking him off balance. Terry tried wrestling his father to the ground, but the poor little dog was just too small. His father weighed over a hundred and fifty pounds more than him. His father started to swing at him now, trying to get his son off of his back. Terry felt the fist hit his eye, when the second blow came. It hit him in the jaw. Terry opened his mouth and plunged down hard with his teeth, biting as hard as he could. Finally, his father's movement stopped. Terry came to after a second, only after he tasted blood on his palette. It was his father's blood. His canines were imbedded deep in his father's neck. A few seconds of silence past before, once again, he saw stars. His father had thrown an upward punch that landed right on his nose, knocking him unconscious. Michael grabbed his neck after he broke the pup loose from it. The bite seemed pretty severe. Terry's mother still laid there on the couch, looking at her son, now with blood all over his muzzle, and bleeding from the nose. Michael walked into the kitchen and grabbed a dish towel from the kitchen sink. He turned on the faucet and ran water over the towel, afterward, wringing it out and pressing it on his wound. He walked back into the living room and looked at his wife. He had a hurt look on his face, after looking at what he did to her. He then looked at his unconscious son, with a face full of blood, lying on the floor lifeless. He took one last look at his wife as a single tear fell from his eye, took a deep breathe, and moved to the door.

"Sorry" came from the male as he grabbed the door hand. "I'm so, so, sorry.......to both of you." After those few, simple words, he walked out of the house.

After the door closed, Jeanette got up off of the couch and walked slowly to the kitchen. She opened up a cupboard door and pulled out a fresh rag. She turned on the faucet and started to run the hot water, looking back at her broken son lying on the floor. The moment's events started sinking in deep, now taking control of her emotions. She stood there, letting the hot water soak into the rag. She started to tear as she thought about how hurt her child must be right now. She turned off the water, and rung out the rag. She slowly made her way back to the broken body on the floor, leaning down to pick up his small frame. She sat down and pulled him into her lap. She grabbed the rag and gently started to wipe the blood from her son's mouth. The slowly drying blood started to fade with each passing stroke. She moved the rag from his lips up to his still bleeding nose. As she continued to clean her son, he started to regain consciousness. "M-M-Mama!!" The little wolf shouted, tears flowing heavily down his bruised little face.

"Oh, my baby, I'm so, so sorry!"

"W-What did I do wrong mama?!"

"Nothing sweetheart, you did nothing wrong. Your dad's just having some trouble adjusting."

"H-He hates me now, doesn't he?"

"No baby boy. Your dad doesn't hate you. He loves you very much. This is just a little too much for him to deal with right now. I......I should have let you stay with Tyler for a few days. Give him some time to calm down. This is entirely my fault sweetie, and I'm so sorry. I should have handled things differently."

"No mama, this is my fault isn't it? It's because I like boys isn't it?"

"Oh....my precious, it's not your fault. When you fall in love, you can't help who it's with." Jeanette helped her son off of the floor. He was still hurt, his nose was still bleeding.

"Come on sweetie, we should take you to the hospital to make sure you're okay."

"No mom I'm fine. I just really need.......... I love you mama but, I.......can I go by Tyler? Please?"

The Sheppard grabbed her son and pulled him into a firm hug, stroking his head fur and wiping the tears from his eyes. "Sure baby boy, I could use a little break from this house too." The female grabbed her purse off of the table and walked back to her pup. She opened the door, letting him walk out of the house first. She closed the door and locked up behind her. Then they finally made their way down the block.

"Knock, Knock, Knock" came from the kitchen. Zeta was sitting in her living room watching T.V. "Who is it" The she-wolf spoke out, but no one answered. When she opened the door, there stood Jeanette and Terry, still with blood slowly dripping down his nose.

"Oh my God Jean! What happened? Who did this? Come on in. Let me get you a drink. Terry, Hun, do you want a wash cloth for you nose?"

The female Sheppard looked at her friend with hurt in her eyes as the wolf fixed her a drink. "It was Michael. Michael did this. Terry came home last night, saying he wanted to talk about something. By the end of the night, we knew everything, about our sons, all of it."

"Well was he pissed off last night?"

"No. When he went to bed, he seemed fine. When he got up this morning, he seemed a little grumpy, but he's like that every morning."

"I'm sorry Jean, I just found out about this last night myself, and insisted that he talk to you. I'm sorry though Terry. Ty's not here he said he was going to be by a friend's house for a while tonight yet." The little dog only shook his head and rubbed his elbows nervously like he always did when he was upset.

"I-It's okay. Mama, I know where he is. It's right down the street. Can I go?"

"Y-Yeah sweetie, that's fine. Just be careful, 'kay?"

The two mothers continued there conversation as the half-broken puppy made his way down the street to the Pit-bull's house. He came up to the gate and rang the buzzer. He waited a few moments before a familiar voice came over the intercom. "Hello?"

"I-It's Terry, Ty's friend. Is he here?"

"Just a sec. I'll buzz you in." About a half a second went by before the gate unlocked, and the little dog padded his way up the stairs. When he got to the door, the door opened and Tyler was standing in front of him.

"I-I don't mean to bother you guys I really don't but.........." Tyler and Alex looked at their friend. His sad eyes, beaten face, and the blood still slowly dripping from his nose. They could see the tear tracks imbedded in his face, and the hurt he was still suffering from.

"Oh my God puppy, who did this to you?" the wolf asked overly concerned.

"It....it....was my dad." The other two canids' eyes opened wide. No one ever thinks their own parent would do something like this. This had to be the ultimate betrayal for this poor pup.

"Oh my God Terry, please, please come in" Alex offered. As the Pit-bull gently pulled the little Sheppard into his house he closed the door behind them, looking to get some kind of comfort from his friends, the conversation started up for a long, long night.
