Lucynda was finally back at home. Instead of living in a dusty wrecked home like most of the people imagined, her house was a nice modern styled human apartment, composed of white walls but the eastern ones of the structure, which was entirely made of glass with special anti-uv properties and the floor was made of finely oak parquet. The main room was composed of a kitchen built in the western wall, openly connected to the living room. It had a black island crafted in okite with stainless steel on the top. The rest of the furniture was in similar fashion except for the fridge, which had a vivid red color. On the opposite side, a nice semi-transparent black round table of Plexiglas, adorned with four modern styled chairs of the same material, but with an orange reddish color on it. The living room was mainly occupied by a big red squared couch with orange pillows. In front of it, a coffee table of the same material of the table in the kitchen area, which on top of it had a rectangular wicker basket with two sockets on the side, where squared candles could be placed. Under the coffee table lied a false tiger skin; she didn't like the idea to use animals as simple decorative furniture. At the end, attached to the wall, was a nice flat TV screen with four hovering speakers around the area, and on the left side of the wall, oaken stairs led to the second floor of the house. While Lucynda took the stairs, she thought about the object of her new thoughts. She wasn't sure she'd done the right thing with that human, that Lucas, but, she didn't know why, deep within her she felt that he was someone that could be trusted. After climbing the stairs to the second floor, composed of two separated rooms, she took the door on the left and entered the bathroom. The floor was of white marble, on the left an oaken cupboard with a porcelain washbasin on it, a big and wide mirror attached on the wall. She took off her clothes and put them on the washbasin. She looked herself into the mirror to see if she had any dull scales and admired her shapes.

She had dark scales that helped her blend in the night curtains, and a strange yet colorful underbelly. From the tail tip to her... um... treasure, was blood red that turned more vivid around her nether region, then from her abdomen to her bosom was of a purple shade that faded into a soft light blue when it reached into the under tip of her chin, though the tip of her nuzzle was of the most candid white. Her long hair, which reached the base of her tail, was of a similar shade of her underbelly, but brighter, and had a pair of silver like horns that sinuously curved down then up her head, emerging delicately from her hairs. She had eyes that looked like amethyst and, if that wasn't enough, she had ample breasts and just the right amount of fat to give her a more curvaceous looking body.

But despise her beauty and her friendly manners, her social life was arid like the American deserts. The vampires emitted certain hormones that, when inhaled by other non-vampires, turned on their survival instinct, even more so if they were of the same species and, if the vampire wanted, it could direct said hormones specifically towards the desired target and instill them with unnatural fear. Although there were some species that weren't affected, such as dragons, that were used to capture vampire criminals. Tough she was the first and only known dragon vampire of the Parallel Society, when she was around many avoided her, except some idiots that tried to fool her and use her to gain some sort of status or to just boast around that they managed to hook in the no less than mysterious Lucynda, the vampire dragoness. The fact of being both a dragon and a vampire marked her as possibly one of the biggest threats to ever walk the city of Nirahj. Many called her demoness, walking plague and other cruel names without ever trying to know her. The only ones that didn't out rightly think of her has the manifestation of death itself were her vampire friends, Caly and Jensen, but even with them she couldn't be sure of the realness of their feelings, not with being backstabbed so many times. But she just didn't want to be alone, and a fake friendship, if that was the case, was better than nothing. She shrugged her head, wiping these thoughts. Then she went to the Jacuzzi that was installed at the end of the room, and turned the water on. She waited for some minutes for the water to fill the basin and, once full, she added some special "scale cleaner" and laid inside, starting the bubble program, relaxing while the idromassage did its magic. "Man, did I need this" thought Lucynda as she relaxed. She took a soap especially made for dragons and started brushing her muzzle, going down her neck, reaching her bosom and playing a bit with them, imagining that it was a handsome drake that was massaging her. Then she brushed down her belly, massaging it with circular motions, and final arriving at her nether region. She kneaded her outer lips slowly with the soap, releasing a little moan of pleasure, her toes curling and uncurling. Always taking her time, she started to play with her clit, purring out of pleasure. After some minutes of self-pleasuring, she finished her cleaning by tending at her tail and brushing her legs with the soap. She got out of the bath, taking a towel and wrapping it around her waist, after drying herself with it. Then she took the clothes that she previously threw in the washbasin and dropped them into a basket. Looking at the glass wall from her bedroom, she could see that the sun would soon rise and decided to assist the dawn of the new day. She opened the glass door that was placed on the glass wall that connected her room to the balcony. Once outside, she laid down on the wicker beach chair that was there and waited for sun to wake from its slumber. The humans thought, like many other races, that vampires were vaporized if hit the sunrays. How wrong they were. It's true that vampires avoided sunlight but simply because the UV rays left vampires as weak as a newly born pup, even lifting an arm would take much energy, not to mention the nullification of other advantages the vampires had, like the hormones being ineffective. The dragoness yawned as the sun began to leave mother Earth's tender embrace. She didn't know why, but the dawn was particularly beautiful this day. How the sunrays hit the clouds and how they made a sort of circle around the sun that was slowly fading away, like curtains moving to let the protagonist take the stage, and the show of a new day began. Before the light of the sun became too much for her body to resist, she retired to her bedroom. Here too the floor was made of oak parquet, a big white wardrobe in modern style like the kitchen on the left as she entered, and, on the opposite site, a round bed with red blankets and pillows. She finally went under the sheets, resting her head on the pillows while giving some final thoughts over Lucas before going to sleep, hoping that she may have found a friend genuinely fond of her.

"Man what the hell did I do yesterday!?"

thought Lucas to himself. As he woke up, he felt sore all over his body, a big headache storming trough his brain. He tried to remember what happened the last day, but the more he tried, the more his memories would fog.

"Jeez, I hope I didn't drink. A hangover the last thing I need now."

He slowly got up, trying not to make his headache worse. Going into the bathroom he turned on the taps, adjusting the water temperature to his likings. He sank into the tub, letting the warm water sooth his body and mind, washing himself with a soap, soaking away the aches and dirt. Once he had finished, he took a towel and dried himself. Going over to the mirror, he checked to see if he needed to trim his beard and while looking at his reflection, he noticed two small holes on his neck. He touched the holes with his fingers and then, like a flooding river, all his memories came at once into his mind. It took a while for his brain to process all the memories and the events of the previous day. Finally, he remembered the last night and whom he had been with. He was excited and, at the same time, troubled by the idea of meeting a vampire, a dragoness none the less, but he was so damn curious about her, besides, how many people could say they had an opportunity to meet a mystical creature? Though there was one small, yet critical point. How da hell would she contact him?! Still bothering about it, he went to the kitchen/living room and heard a strange buzzing noise. He looked at the door ad spotted a small piece of paper attached to some sort of shadow disk. Once he took the note, the strange disk dissolved in front of his eyes. The piece of paper took his attention again. There was just a time written on it, 9:30 P.M, and an arrow pointing downwards. Well that was kind of a relief; he now knew that she would come herself. He then remembered that he was still stark naked, and went to his bedroom to solve that problem. There wasn't furniture there so he had to sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. But at least here was an old wardrobe. He took some casual clothes and went to the kitchen. He looked on the calendar that was attached on the wall to see if he had something to do that day. Thankfully there was nothing marked, so he picked up his cell phone and called his friend Kamaru. He didn't have to wait too much for his friend to respond,

"Hoy Lucas, how are you?"

"I'm fine. I've got nothing to do today, what about you?"

"Same here. Actually I'm going with some other friends to do some paintball shooting, would you like to join us?"

"Ok, but you have to pick me up. My car is at the mechanic."

"No problem dude. Can you be ready in the next 30 minutes?"

"Yes. See ya here."

"Later."

While he was waiting, he turned on the TV to watch the latest news. There was the usual gossip, with some politician again making false promises to the people to rebuild Italy. Hearing the intercom, he turned off the television and went downstairs to meet his friend. Kamaru was a tall African man, 1 meter and 95 centimeters with deep black skin, born in Nigeria and then adopted by a couple while he was still an infant and was 27 years old now. Tough the most recognizable features were his uncommon grey eyes that gave him quite the spectral look. He wore simple blue jeans and a t-shirt with an open sweater of his favorite football team A.S. Roma. As they saw each other, they greeted with a simple bro-fist,

"Always nice to see ya."

"Same here. Now we are going to kick some ass at the paintball arena. Paolo and Gianni will also be coming with us."

"Then it's better that we don't keep Gianni waiting for too long. You know how he is."

"I know, I know. Let's go then."

Off they went to Paintball arena, listening to some hard rock groups on the way. He currently worked for a small shop regarding art utensils, and thanks to his hard work and shrewdness and passion for any kind of art, be it traditional or digital, his store was now one of the most visited shops in Rome, and quite the beacon for anyone who wanted some hint for a certain art work as well for those who discovered a bit late their art spot.

Though one thing was truly horrible at Rome: the traffic. It wasn't easy to carve new streets in the city, and there were always some construction at hand, resulting in the street signage being wrong and pretty confusing. And let us say that a pissed off roman in a car is quite the troublemaker. After many shouts, swearing, giving the middle finger and a near car crash, they finally arrived at the arena. Kamaru parked his car and then got out with Lucas, taking the armor and the guns. As they went to the arena, they met Gianni and Paolo, and greeted them. Gianni was student and the Sapienza University just like Lucas; he came from a little town in Tuscany which he always forgot the name. He was tall like him but had blonde hair with trimmed beard with no mustache, brown eyes and sort of natural tan on his body thanks to him helping the grandma and grandpa during the grape harvest season. He was a bit shy but, after breaking the ice, he was quite the talkative guy. Paolo instead was the average roman concerning the build.1,77 cm and a bit broad on the shoulders with short brown hair as well for his eyes and well-formed mustache adorning the upper lips. He was 25 and worked as a bus driver. It wasn't easy to get on his good side, but once befriended, he would easily take a bullet for you. After a little chat they went to the till and paid the entrance ticket and once in the locker-room, they exchanged their clothes for military styled protective gear. They had to wait 5 minutes for a group coming from Ciampino. When they finally arrived, they used a coin to choose which squad would be the assault team and which was the defending team. The squad from Ciampino was the attacker. After choosing the position to defend, the game had begun.

Lucynda was awakened from his slumber by a buzzing noise. She moved her right arm, trying to find the clock and after reaching it, she turned it off slowly, standing up and yawning. Looking at the time, she saw it was 7:30 P.M. Time to prepare herself.

Going into the bathroom, she washed herself again, concentrating on her hair, which was a real mess. After washing herself, she looked for a special perfume and sprayed it on her neck. Then she went to the wardrobe in her bedroom and took quite the time to decide which clothes to put on. In that regard, females of all species were the same. In the end, she choose a pair of black pants and a simple white shirt with long sleeves which let a bit of her collarbone and cleavage exposed. Once everything was done she looked again at the clock. It now said '8:00 P.M'.

"Well, I have half an hour. Maybe I should start preparing dinner."

She decided to cook an Italian dish for the first time: fettuccine with ragù. She saw a couple of shows explaining how to prepare it. Thankfully she had all she needed. She went to the kitchen and took a clove of garlic, a bit of onion, a carrot, celery, tomato sauce, some basil and minced meat. She took a small saucepan and spread olive oil in it. Then she sliced thinly the onion, the garlic, the carrot and the celery all in equal proportion but the garlic. She put everything in the saucepan and started to brown them. Once browned, she put the minced meat with some salt and flavored it with just a little red wine. After all was cooked, she poured the tomato sauce and added the basil as well as a tiny drop of sugar to take off some off the natural acidity of the tomato. While the sauce finished cooking itself, she looked at the clock. It was still a bit early so she waited a while, leaving the sauce to cook with low fire and mixing the sauce with a wooden spoon, to not let it so it wouldn't burn. When it was around 9:15, she threw the fettuccine in a pan with boiling water and waited until they were "al dente". Then she poured the sauce on the fettuccine, after she poured pouring the water out of the pan. She cleaned everything and set the table with a candle, a pair of glass plates, two wine glasses and an Italian wine she bought in Italy when she disguised herself as a human. It was all prepared and it was almost time to go to take Lucas

"Lucas we need covering fire, Gianni give him some help. We'll try to surround them by the side!"

said Kamaru. Lucas' team was blocked behind a horizontal obstruction. The arena was mainly composed of inflatable obstacles and the other squad had divided in two teams, each behind a pillar, shooting at them. The idea was having Lucas' team's quick shooters make a cover so that Kamaru and Paolo could take the team on the right on the right that had worse aim respect to the other one. Has Kamaru and Gianni sprinted. Lucas aimed at the opposite team, shooting everything he got while Gianni assisted the other two. The plan worked. As Gianni made the enemy team cover, they couldn't see Kamaru and Paolo out maneuver them and, before they could notice, they were hit by a full barrage of the two friends. Once done, the table was reverted but with the enemy team having lost half of their members. Then, while Lucas and Paolo gave cover, Kamaru and Gianni made a pincer maneuver and busted their opponents. The two teams went to the locker room and started washing. After a friendly chat, the guys from Ciampino suggested a gathering at the local inn. Speaking of gathering, Lucas looked at his cellphone and noticed that it was almost time for Lucynda to come to his home.

"Hey Kamaru, can you please give me a lift home?"

"What? Aren't you coming with us at the pub?"

"I'm sorry but I already have something to do."

"Aaahhhhh, and let me guess... is there a girl involved?"

"And what if one is?"

"Well nothing, I only hope that she doesn't break your heart, that's all."

So after bidding farewell to Paolo and Gianni and the lads from Ciampino, Kamaru drove to Lucas' home. He was sweating bullets by now due to nerves, hoping that he had interpreted the piece of paper correctly. What if it had another meaning? How was she coming back? Would she drink his blood again? These thoughts, added to another billion similar ideas that were storming through his skull, gave him a headache, made worse by the fact he hadn't any bought any headache tablets yet. He looked at his watch. 8:59 P.M.

"How long until we are home?"

"Relax man, we are almost there."

"Yeah, sorry."

"You're really up to meet her, aren't you?"

"Well... it's kinda complicated."

"That's why they're women."

"In a certain sense."

"Well here we are buddy, hope you'll have a nice evening with the gal."

"Thank you Kam, see ya next time."

He sprinted towards his apartment, running the stairs step two at the time. Once at his apartment, he went straight to change with some less casual clothes. First his best jeans, then he took a white shirt with short sleeves and a pair of classic Italian shoes, Pantafola D'Oro. As he went to the kitchen/living room, suddenly the light went out, just like the last time, and again he could feel that strange sensation, when a paw touched his shoulder.

"Hi Lucas, how are you tonight?"

"I'm fine...thanks."

"So you read the sheet. What would you like to do?"

"I don't know."

"Mmhhh... Would you like to come visit my home? I swear I'll bring you back alive."

"Well eeemmhh ok."

"Ok, now stay close to me."

She hugged him tenderly and started to turn into a shadow, Lucas changing as well. He couldn't see anything to begin with, then, suddenly, sparkles of light were coming towards him, turning into some sort of a warp tunnel. Again it all turned black and slowly another light showed, and then he emerged into Lucynda's house.

"Whhooaa, is this your house?"

"Yep."

As his eyes looked down he could see, for the first time, her ebony scaled arms and hands. He gulped as he saw her sharp claws, they could easily tear his body to shreds. She let him go, and Lucas turned his body to see what his 'new' friend was like. He remained shocked, his body paralyzed. He couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing. Those shiny scales, those purple penetrating eyes, her beautiful muzzle and hair, and the spectacular colors of her under belly added to her gorgeous form. She was one of the most beautiful things his eyes have ever laid upon.

Lucynda hoped that the human wouldn't freak out when he saw her. After letting him go he turned around to look at her and she could clearly see his total shock. Another one that thought she was a monster. Kaly and Jurad were right. It was already rare that one of the vampires didn't look at her as something to stay away like plague. The way he was staring at her was another knife in her heart.

"What have I done to deserve a treatment like this?" she asked to herself, looking away. She was already casting a memory spell when she heard something unexpected.

"You're beautiful."

She opened her eyes. Did he call her... beautiful? No, she heard it wrong, it couldn't be possible; the only think she heard about her was how she was a monster of the worst species.

"Sorry, what did you say?"

"Oohhh, I didn't mean to be impudent"

She blessed the fact that she had scales to hide her blush because she could see by his face that he wasn't lying. So at last finally someone 'normal' that found her cute.

"No, don't worry. Are you hungry?"

His stomach answered for him. Now he was the one blushing.

"I guess you already have the answer."

"Luckily I already prepared some pasta with ragù."

"Really? Then what are we waiting for?"

He looked around the beautiful house, Lucynda taking his hand and guiding him to the table. His eyes fell upon the table. It seems that the dragoness had already planned everything. They start to eat in an awkward silence, both not knowing what to say. Lucas plucked up some courage and asked,

"So, do you live here alone?"

"Yes."

He ate more of the fettuccine and had to say it was marvelous. The taste was very rich yet delicate and the wine itself wasn't something to shun upon. It was like being in a restaurant with the only difference of that company. The wine began to loosen his tongue and he asked,

"I... have to say that you have a beautiful home. It must have cost a fortune."

"Actually I built it."

"You're an architect?"

"No but... I can say I'm quite expert with alchemy and magic. The main problem was to get the raw materials tough."

"Wait, you're saying magic and alchemy actually exist?"

"How do you think I brought you here?"

"Well... you've got a point."

They finished their meal and she asked to Lucas if he would like to see a film and he agreed. She was really a good company despite the awkwardness that was filling the air. He had to say he really liked her company and didn't mind that she was a dragoness and a vampire. They sat on the couch, and with a word in a strange language from Lucynda the TV turned on.

"Quite useful when you don't where the remote is."

"It's just child's play."

"Mmhh I see. Actually I thought that it would be worse."

"What do you mean?"

"I only know what everybody knows about vampires. They like dark places, they suck blood and other things like that. I thought that I would be so scared that I couldn't even say something coherent and..."

"And?"

She looked at him a bit upset. Why did everybody look at vampires in such ways!

"And actually it's totally the opposite. Your cooking skills are really good, your house is fabulous and you're really beautiful and quite the good company... and I hope I can know you better if it's alright with you."

. She was deeply confused by these words. She didn't expect that he would be so gentle with her, she thought that at the first occasion, he would try to escape. He was really something new for her, she thought.

"Could I ask you something about your nature, or is that a sensitive subject?"

"You mean being a vampire?"

"Mainly, but also something about dragons."

"Well you're free to ask."

"I thought that you vampires could only feed on blood."

"Oh no, we just have to drink every few months. You see our body has agility, strength and other senses that normal creatures don't have. But, as alchemy teaches, there has to be an equivalent exchange. Our body can't produce enough blood to satisfy what our body needs, so that's why we drink other's blood. It enhances our inner blood production."

"Ahhh, and what do you mean by other senses?"

"Every vampire has two extra senses. Well actually, I should say power. One is defensive and the other is an offensive type."

"Mmmhhh and what are your extra skills?"

"My defensive skill is that my body can regenerate wounds in really short times and my offensive skill is that I can manipulate my blood."

"Manipulate your blood? And how?"

"Actually I don't know. It activated once, when I was nearly dead. Someone was trying to kill me and then it was like my blood had a mind of its own and protected me."

"Aahhh... wait, someone tried to kill you?"

"Yes, but she's already feeding the earth."

"But didn't you say that your defensive...power was quick regeneration?"

"Yes but the huntress had already took a huge toll on my body and I had lost lots f blood so I was in a state of shock. I went into a "kill or be killed" state of mind and, before I knew, the iron and other metallic compounds present into my blood sort of merged to make a sort of blood spear or blade and I kill the huntress"

"Remind me to never try to kill you."

"Well that's for sure."

And then she laughed a bit. Lucas thought that was a really beautiful laugh, her face when she smiled was really amazing. Though, the fact that she killed someone, even in self-defense, and that Lucynda didn't give much of a thought told him two things: that either she was so used to being attacked that it was a normal occurrence for her, or that she was someone who waged life on a very different scale. And he hoped it was the first case. And second, that she was still someone that could kill him easily. He shrugged this thoughts from his mind, not wanting to ruin the mood and said,

"Has anyone told you that you have a beautiful laugh?"

"It isn't the first time."

"Ok. So is it true that you dragons can breathe fire?"

"Not everyone can do it. It isn't rare but it's not that common either. About 43% of dragon population can breathe fire. And I'm not one of those."

"There are other hidden species?"

"More that you can ever image."

"And do they hate humans?"

"Some do, but generally most of us don't care, and there are also other humans in our society."

"That something I wouldn't expect. Do the governments know about this... parallel society?"

"No. Just a bunch of people on the outside knows about us. And now you're one of them."

Lucas started to yawn, and took a look to his watch

"Damn, is it already that late?"

"Have you to go somewhere tomorrow?"

"I have to take my final exam at the University."

"WHAT! Are you serious? And you didn't tell me that you have to do such an exam?"

"I didn't want to waste an opportunity to know you. It isn't every day that someone can talk to a dragon."

"Okay, but then it's better that I take you back at home."

" That's fine by me."

Lucynda wrapped her arms around the soft body of Lucas and warped him back to his home. He thanked her and started to prepare to go to bed, while she waited in the kitchen. She heard the water washing over her new friend in the bathroom and curiosity overcame her. She sneaked to door of the bathroom and slowly opened it, peeking through the door. She giggled as she looked at him, totally naked. He wasn't skinny or fat, just a bit muscled, exactly what she liked. Slowly her eyes fell upon his crotch, dreaming that one impossible day someone that the one she loved could finally take her as her mate. She had to say that he was well endowed for a human. When he finished cleaning himself, the dragoness crept back to the kitchen and waited for him, as if nothing had happened. Lucas took from the bag in the bathroom a pair of shorts and went into the kitchen where his bed was ready to take him to dreamland. He finds her found his friend sensually leaning on a pillow, waving him with a finger to come over to her. He did what she 'ordered' and leaned against her.

"You're quite affectionate, aren't you?"

"Only with my friends. It's better that you get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a special day for you."

"Please don't remind me. I'm already worried about what to say to the professors."

"Everything will be ok, just stay calm."

"Sigh... you're right...um could I ask you something?"

"Yes."

"Could you... could you... hug while I'm sleeping?"

That caught her by surprise.

"Well um...ok."

So the dragoness tenderly hugged the little human that was leaning against her. "God it's so good when she hugs me," he thought, and as time passed, he started to sleep, snoring lightly.

Lucynda was taken by surprise by the request from Lucas, but having him in her arms filled her with such a good sensation that surely she would stay with him until he woke up. She slowly curled her tail on the right leg of her friend while her wings fell upon the little human like a sheet, and then nuzzled him gently on his head. It was the first time that someone actually tried to know her without looking just the outside. Maybe she had finally found a true friend.

THANKS A LOT TO Ellard AND William2669 FOR THE WONDERFUL PROOFREADING AND THE BLUNT YET CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM THAT I SO VERY MUCH NEEDED! TY GUYS!
