Defending Iann (Chapter 2)
#2 of Defending Iann
This is the second chapter in my "Defending Iann" series. I know it's kind of short, but I think it's good. Thank you for reading, and check out my other stuff.
I woke up to a lot of shouting and arguing.
"You can trust me! Don't tie me up!" "Nope." "Please!" "Nope." "What have I ever done to you!" "Nope."
Rae and Zach were getting ready to leave. Rae was in the middle of tieing up Zach's paws, his legs were already tied up. The fire had been put out and behind the log Rae was sitting on was a wagon that I didn't see last night.
I got up and walked over to the wagon. It was packed with stuff, only about one person could fit. "Hey," I asked, "how are we all going to get in here?" Rae walked over and threw a gagged, tied-up wolf on the roof. "One down," she said. She ended up letting me sit inside while she hung out the back.
We started moving down the path, and the day was pretty boring. We just rolled down the countryside. Rae eventually set up another camp, one similar to the first. We ate and slept there for the night. We decided to wake up early so we could make it to Jarren's Outpost by tommorow.

The next day I was the first to wake up. I put out the fire and woke Rae up. She was pretty slow at first but quickly adjusted and set up the wagon. We cleared it out some, knowing Zach wasn't going to be gagged and tied-up today. We woke up Zach at the last second and let him in. We started up the wagon and Zach soon fell asleep.
"So, why did you come out here?" I asked. Rae checked to see if the wagon was still headed in the right direction the replied, "My hometown, Gwynneth, was destroyed by the invading force. They left to Ayrith, but I was long gone by then. I went to Farwater for a while, then left to Fort Hellen." I nodded. "So, you called me an amatuer, and I've noticed you're pretty impressive, so do you want to spar or something at the lunch break?" I asked. She grinned at me in a way that almost made me regret my offer.
A few hours later we stopped for lunch. Zach had been awake for a while now, and was the first to leave the wagon. He took some food out and started to prepare a meal while we sparred. Rae gave me a one-handed axe that was in the wagon for backup, and we went out to a small field.
For the first time, I saw her weapon. She unsheathed a dagger and absolutely whipped me in the first match. I was on the ground, dagger to my neck in about a second. She stood, and helped me up. Instead of attacking me, she actually started telling me what to do. We practiced for about an hour and then Zach remembered we also had to eat.
Zach started packing up the wagon while Rae and I ate. She was still pretty mad that he ate without us, but I didn't mind. It gave us time to practice and him time to pack. While he was putting some stuff in I asked him, "Why did you come here? And why were you raiding those travelers?" Zach looked at me like I was interrogating him and ignored me. Something was off-putting about him.
Rae and I finished our meals and started moving again. Today was pretty short and was a blur, but we were closer to Jarren's from moving all day. In fact, Rae said she could see Jarren's when we stopped for the night. I didn't believe her.

I woke up early again. I got up and started to wake Rae, but I then heard something. I froze. Something was moving in the wagon. I walked over to the opening, and just as I saw a bandit, another panther came up behind me and grabbed me by my mouth. He pulled me back, and I tried to get someone's attention. I desperately searched myself for anything I could throw, and pulled out a rabbit bone. I threw it at Rae, and there was a sword to my neck immediately. Everyone tensed as they watched my last resort sail towards the camp. It missed Rae, leaving the bandits to continue. I couldn't fight back or the person holding me would decapitate me before I could take anyone out. I saw two bandits walk over to Rae and Zach, and grab both of them. Well, now they were awake.
I knew I had to do something or else one of them would get us all killed. I used what strength I had to burn the man holding me to death, and roll out of the way. Everyone turned to look at the bandit's screams. He fell to the ground, and Rae took advantage of everyone's attention on the bandit. She twisted around, wreching the sword out of her captors hand, and used it to stab him. She pulled it out and threw it at Zach, hitting the bandit behind him. Now everyone was freaking out.
It was chaos, every single person killing everyone around them. But now that we were free, our magic skills were used to our advantage. All three of us were massacring the panthers, and I kind of felt bad for them. And then I felt bad for a different reason. After a while I had gotten my axe back, so I didn't have to drain my magic. Zach was about to shock someone, but right before he did, I got in the way and killed the bandit. In trying not to hit me, Zach just directed his lighting behind him by turning around. What he didn't realize, was the wagon was right behind him.
When all of the bandits were gone, we got ready to leave. Except this time, Rae didn't have a wagon to put her tied-up wolf on.
