So there is this city. We don't know what to call it, since it's the only city where most of its citizens have ever been before.It is a city where things come and go,yet it stays the same.
The layout of the city is the same as any other cities. The city has a beach at the east and a mountain range at the west. At the north, a forest and the snowland is located, while at the south, there's a desert and a swamp. At the center, a bustling city.
A city where all the citizens are shapeshifters, just like the citizens of other cities.You might wonder how this works. I mean, who wouldn't? Have a glimpse of daily life in the city.

It was the beginning of summer and I was spendingmy time in the room, playing video games.
I was in a human form, my hair black and my eyes brown. I'm male and my skin tone's medium.
I heard somebody knock on my door.
"Kyle,"a female voice called, "Open the door." I paused my game and walked over to the door. When I opened it, a 180-cm human-like snakewas standing in front of it.Her crop top shows off her C-size breasts.She looked mad.
"What is it, Mom?" I asked.
"Your other mother and I are concerned about your life,"my birth mother said. Since sex is interchangeable, it's possible to have two mothers or fathers by blood. And that you could have a sibling with the same parents as you, butwith a different mother. That also means having to use two mother/father terms.
"What? I'm doing fine in IT,"I said, "I don't do drugs, I got decent work. What else can you expect from me?"
"A lover, perhaps?"Because of their shapeshifting abilities, many citizens are in animal form, either anthro or feral. Since the terms "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" are not practical in thiscity, we just use "lover".
I groaned, " You know I'm not interested."
"Nuh uh, you are getting someone in this house, introduce them to us, have sex with them then marry them."
"Can you tell me again how I did not come out a nutjob because of you two?"
She giggled, "That's a secret between me and your other mother, kid." She patted me inthe shoulder.
"Why would you want me to start dating, anyway?"
"We want to see you develop. You're... too devoted to work."
"I play video games everyday, Mom. Isn't that not working?"
"You still work on weekends. Youshould chilldown a little."
"I'm chill, alright."
She crossed her arms, "Why would you decide to take on a normal human form?"
"Because I don't want to show off as much as you, Mom. I won't be getting any dates, Mom. I'll head back inside." But I felt something pushed back as I tried to close the door. I looked and Momis pushing the door open.
"Too late,"Momsaid, "I already had you signed up on this dating site. And oh look," she brought out her phone, tapped a few times, then show it to me, "You got someone for tonight. Don't disappoint her."
I squinted, "But that's my email address..."Wecontinuedtostrugglewiththedoor,heropeningitandmeclosingit.
"I have my thief skills. Hacking, pickpocketing, picking locks..."Mom neared her face to me, "Picking pussies."
"Seriously, how are you not arrested for that attitude?"
"It's like what your mothersaid, it's a secret between us," a new voice said. Climbing up the stairs was a 200-cm tallwolf anthro. She has white fur and is wearing an apron.
"Hey, Dad,"I said, stopping to push.Sometimes, even if she's currently of the opposite sex, I call her "Dad" because that's whatIdid growing up. Other children do that, as well.
"Hey, Kyle," Dad greeted back, walking through the door and hugging me.
"Hey, dearie,"Momcalled, who stopped pushing, as well, "Could you help me convince Kyle to get a date?"
"Sure,"Dad said,"I'll do the best as I can,"she looked at me, "If you don't get a date, you're rejected from the family."
"Oh, cool,"I said, "Wanted myown place, anyway."
"Then I'll sell everything you own and I'll keep the money."
"Dad! Anything but that!"
Dad giggled, "Then go to the date. Don't worry, she'll be appearing as a human girl."
"Just one date, right?"
"Yeah, then you get to keep everything," Mom said, "Make sure you bang her, too."
"Mom."
"I'm just joking. Taking her home is enough for me." Iremained silent for a while.
I sighed, "It's a deal. CanI go back to playing again?"
Later that night,I was in a restaurant calledRosie's, which my date agreed to meet in. We also decided to hang out in human forms and her being female.
While I sat at my table, I managed to talk to a lion couple, one a golden lioness and the other a lion with a darker fur, who has a vertical scar on his left eye. I looked at my watch and it's already 8:25, five minutes before we were supposed to meet. So I decided to talk to the lion couple.
They just moved to the city from the south after getting married. Their families had a feud, but they managed to resolve it. The couple decided to move northward to the city to start a family. We talked for ten minutes and it was nice.
My date arrived five minutes after that, making her ten minutes late.
She came in as a blue-haired human with a fair complexion. She was wearing a blue dress that matches her hair. Her eyes are yellow, highlighting it among her blue. She wascarrying a black purse that she hung on her left shoulder.
"Sorry I'm late," she said as she sat down.
"Nah, it's okay.I talked to that couple over there,"I said, pointing at the couple at the table beside us, "They just got married."
"Oh, congratulations," she said smiling at the lion couple. The couple smiled back.
She looked back at me, "So, black hair, brown eyes, medium color. What's the deal?"
"I just like it simple,"Isaid, placing my arms on the table, "You like blue?"
"Yeah, it's my favorite,"she placed her arms on the table, as well,"What will you be doing for the summer?"
"Playing games, mostly. Then I will work at the office at the weekends as IT support."
"Ooh, a hard worker."
"Yeah, my parents forced me into thisdate. What will you be doing for the summer?"
"Looking for someone to hang out with for the summer," she removes her arms from the table and leaned on her chair, "think you can fulfill that role?"
"Are you fine with gaming, then?"
"Needed a hobby for the summer."
"Cool. What's your name?"
"Hannah. Yours?"
"Kyle."
"Wanna hang out next Friday?"
"Cool. Same place?"
"That's agreeable,"she raised her hand,"Waiter,"then Hannah looked back at me,"What should we eat?" Awolfanthro in a red tuxedo approached us.
I looked atthe waiter, "Burgers and fries,"I looked at Hannah, "How about you?"
She looked at the waiter, "A salad." The waiter wrote down the orders and left.
"You like vegetables?"
She looked at me, "Yeah, I'm a vegetarian. My parents raised me to eatgreens."When shapeshifting, your preference switches to whatever the race you chose eat. Which means that if you shift to a taur form based on the lion, you will have the food preference of a lion. This is the same when you switch to a cow or a snake.
"I wouldn't mind hanging out with a vegetarian."
"Thanks."Later, our food arrived. As we ate, we talked about our interests.
"Wait, you want me to go home with you?" Hannah asked me after I told her of my deal with Mom.
"Please?"I pleaded, "They'll kick me out and sell my gaming stuff if I don't."
"I'm sure they're just joking."
"Would you think they're joking if they called you before this date and tell you that a prospective buyer is on the way?
"Hmm... Alright, I'll do that," I smiled, "But under one condition."
"What condition?"
"I'll come to your house as a dragon anthro."
"Deal."
She stood up, "Just let me go to the restroom and change." The restroom here is used for literal changing. Changing forms, in many cultures, is considered a private process that must notbe seen by anybody except the person youare gonna marry.
Shapeshifting uses up excessenergy in addition towhat is needed, and while shapeshifting, you will be left defenseless and in the mercy of anyone watching.
It's because shapeshifting is all about using your current body mass and turning them to different parts of your body. For example, if you want to have wings, you might have to reduce your size, unless you have excess mass. This makes gaining weight a thing among fashion models.Shapeshifting is an ability that requires energy. It requires the most energy inyour body, so after shifting, you will feel hungry, thirsty, or tired.
This is why shapeshifting must only be performed when you're alone or with seone dear to you.
"Let me come with you,"I said.
Hannah scoffed, "Why?"
"Because I don't want you escaping me."
"The changing room's got no stalls."
"Exactly. But it's wide enough for the two of us to be in there."
"What makes you think I'll run away from you?"
"BecauseI just told you to shift for me in a room where I could see you."
"Right," she turned away from me, "Let's go."
"Hold on.You're willing to do this?"
She looked at me, "Yeah, why?"
"Because normal people would be creeped out and would run screaming."
She smiled, "Well, I'm not a normal person," she turned again, "Let's go." We headed to the changing room, which is three meter in length andwidth.
"So here's the deal,"Hannah said aswe entered the bathroom and locked the door, "I'll come to the house, but I get to go as a dragon anthro and you will be a female."
"Why are you okay with this? You're only supposed to shapeshift alone or with someone you're gonna marry."
"Well, I'll be okay about it if I get to see you shift first."
"But I don't have female clothes."
"I'll lend you mine. I can go naked as a dragon."Since anthros are covered in fur or scales, clothing is optional to them.
"Here we go,"I took a breath, "Are you sure that you have to go as adragon? I could just bring you home as a human."
"No thanks."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I just want to shift after a date. It's a thing I do."
"Okay, then,"I took a breath, "Here we go." My body shimmered as I shift to a female.
My hair grew longer and reached my shoulders as my face became more round. My shoulders narrowed as my chest inflated, growing two B-size breasts. My arms became slender as my hands grew delicate. My waist narrowed, while my hips broadened to be curvier. My organ inverted into my body and became feminine, making me a "she". My legs grew curvier as my feet became smaller. Due to the masses accumulated in my chest and hips, I grew shorter. My parka felt tight on the chests and hips, although it felt loose on the waists and shoulders. My pants are longer than my legs now, so they felt baggy.
My shift ended with me as an embarrassed165-centimeter-tall girl.
"There we go,"Hannah said, "Now let me take off my clothes."
"W-w-what?" I said flustering, my voice higher.
"You're female now. You're allowed to see me naked," She took off her dress, revealing her black underwear,"Now take off your clothes." This is one of the few times I ever shifted to a girl, so taking off my clothes took slow as I studied my body. After a few minutes, I'm wearing Hannah's blue dress now.
"Okay, now it's my turn," Hannah said naked. Her body shimmered as she became a dragon.
Her hair shrank into her head as blue scales covered her face. Her ears became fin-like as her face pushed forward to have a snout. Hannah's neckand chest are covered in a light-blue underbelly. Her hands grew claws as they grew scales along her arms. Three appendages grew on her back, twoturning out to be wings and the other a tail. Her feet grew claws as scales covered them along her legs. She appears to have shrunk, as well, because of her wings and her tail.
Her shift ended with her being a blue 168-centimeter-tall dragon. She looked... pretty.
"Hey, Kyle?" Hannah said.
"Oh, yeah?" I asked. She waited for a while.
"Let's go now."
"Okay," I opened the door, outside it a line of five people waiting, "H-hey." Hannah and I walked out of the restroom, me embarrassed.
"Oh, I can't believe I shifted for someone,"I said as I walked out of the restaurant, covering my face, "A female, at that!"
"Hey, you wanted this, right?" Hannah said.
I looked at her, "Do you really have to shift to a dragon?"
She shrugged, "Well, we've seen each other already. There's nothing we could do about it," she raised her hand, "So where's your home?"
We've reached my home after fifteen minutes of an awkward taxi ride. I think both of us are blushing after seeing each other shift.
My home is a simple two-floor suburban home. I lived with my parents in here since I was a child. My parents met here in the city my mom being a male jaguar anthro from the countrysideand my dad being a feral male wolf who is from the city. They hanged out for a while, got married, moved here, thenMom turned to a female snake and had me. Then they entered their all-female phase and stayed that way until now.
My knock was answered by a male tiger. The tiger is lean and orange. He is wearing a towel over his organ. He seems to be breathing hard.
"Hey, Dad,"I said.
Dad looked behind him, "Dearie, Kyle shifted to a female." Afemale fox approached us. The fox is orange and has a thin build.
"Hey, Kyle," the fox said, "Good to see you as a female. What's the occasion?"
"Nothing, Mom,"I said. When a shapeshifterspends enough time with another shapeshifter, they will be able to recognoze each other with their auras. Aural recognition is one of our mysteries, although some people say it's something we got from evolution. If you hang out with a close person, like your family or a friend, you could recognize them via aura even if they shifted to another form.
"She will only come here if we see each other shift,"I continued.
"Ooh, interesting,"Dad said, "I just told you to get a lady home. Never thought you want to get married already." If you shift for someone, it's usuallyby accident, you don't care, orthat someone is one of the closest relations you have, usually someone you marry. Either way, if you see someone shift, it's like seeing them naked. Human naked.
"It was aone-time thing, okay?" I said, "It didn't happened, it will never happen again,"I looked at Hannah, "Right?" She seems to be staring blankly, "Hannah?"
"Yeah?" she asked, snapping out of her daydream.
"We will never see each other shift, right?"
"Right." Hannah looked away blushing.
"Man, kids these days,"Mom said smiling, "Anyways, get inside, I got some cake left."
Hannah and I sat by the bar counter at the kitchen as Mom brought out chocolate cake.
"So," Mom faced me, "Who's the girl? Your girl, I mean." She placed two slices of cake before us.
"Hannah,"Hannah answered.
"Hannah. A sweet name. Eatso that my grandchild will be healthy."
"Mom, stop making jokes like that,"I said.
"Who says I'm joking? You already saw each other shift, so you should get married already."
"It's okay, really," Hannah said. Mom and I looked at her.
"Really?"both of us said.
"Yeah. You seem like a nice family. I'll be fine living here."
I groaned, "You too?"
She giggled, "I'm just kidding."
"Consider, yourself lucky, girl,"Mom said to Hannah,"Kyleis never seen as a female except for us herparents and a few close friends. He doesn't even bother to use her female name'Kim'."Most people have tried to be the opposite sex, many switching every week or so. That's why when named, people choose names that are switchable from male to female and vice versa.
"Oh, really?" Hannah said, looking at Mom, then to me.
"Yeah," Mom said, "She sticks to her boring, genericmale human."
"Not my fault,"I said raising both of my hands.
"Yeah, it is," Mom punched me in the shoulder, "You don't switch races, either."
Hannah looked at my mom, "She doesn't?"
"Well, she switches on special occasions, or if there is something up at work, but at home, she sticks to male human." Sometimes the president of the company is bored and had us go to work as a specific race and/or gender. Sometimes, our family goes to a race-specific celebration.
"Man, you are something," Hannah said smiling. Wow, her smile was pretty. Her golden eyes seemed to sparkle.
"Look who's getting married," Mom said in a sing-song voice.
"W-wha?"I said.Mom and Hannah laughed.
"Anyways, it's late now," Mom said,"You're free to sleep in Kyle's room."
"Why my room?" I asked her.
"Because your father and I are going to make your sibling in our room. And Hannah here can't sleep in the couch."
I stood up, "Let me get my stuff."
"Nuh uh. Both of you are sleeping in your bed tonight, Kyle."
"What are you gonna do about it?" Then I felt like I'm going to fall over, "What the--?" Beside me, Hannah is asleep.
"I slipped some drug in your cake, you see."
"Damn it, Mom. This isn't funny."
"It's okay, it'll only last for an hour." I fell to the ground, losing consciousness.
I woke up in my room at my bed. A dream? No, it isn't. I'm definitely female, and beside me, a blue dragoness is waking up.
"What happened?"Hannah asked me as she sat up.
"Mom drugged us,"I replied as I got off the bed."
"Why would she do that?"
"So that we will sleep together." I grabbed the doorknob.
"Your mom's... extreme."
"Yeah,she locked the door, too."
"So, what now?" I checked the windows. Barred.
"I guess we could talk." I sat next to Hannah.
"What can we talk about?"
"Your family."
"My family's pretty cold, actually. We are rich and we don't get into contact since both of my parents have work.I was abroad in a prestigous dragon school. I sticked to this dragon form until I moved out last January. Then I changed to a human, keeping my blue hair and yellow eyes.
"I never knew what a warm family felt until I met you. Tonight has been good, if not the best. Your family's warm, Kyle. It's something I want to feel again."
"Is there a reason you wanted to be a dragon right now?" I asked.
Hannah looked up at the ceiling, "Well, this is the form I had in the dragon school, which is most of my life. I guess this form is what represents me the most."
"Why take on a human form, then?"
"Well, this night was the first time I ever took human form. I'll never get used to it,"she looked at me, "When I met you, I felt something between us," Hannah looked back up again, "It might not be a big deal for you, but it kinda was for me. This is the first time I ever felt something like this. If I want to fall in love and marry someone, I want to do all of that as a dragon, which is what I was for most of my life."
Hannah looked at me, "Which I want to love you as."
Then something... happened. Everything about her changed. She looked prettier than before. I felt something new. I want her.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, I kissed the dragoness. Hannah's snout felt weird to kiss, but it doesn't matter, as Hannah kissed back. It felt good. I started to lie on her on the bed. We took off our clothes, and... well, you know the rest.
