“Get your head down!" One of the other dragons roared out, as he fired back at the attack, as reality came crashing back down. I looked around for my weapon, but couldn't seem to find it, as another round pinked off the scout vehicle I was near. I flattened out on the ground, as I crawled through the rough gravel back to our scout vehicle, as I looked inside for my weapon. trying to not look at the driver's position.

I looked around for my weapon, but no luck, as i was about to turn around and leave when I heard a groan from my left, in the back of the vehicle. I flinched back, awaiting a blow or a round to the head ending it, but nothing came.

It was Brisk, and he was clutching his head, laying on the roof of the overturned vehicle. I pulled my mask back up, as I crawled inside, coughing a bit. “Brinsk?' I called out, moving closer to him, as he did not respond, other than soft groans. Of course the massive dragon was out cold.

I sighed, shaking my head as I tore a bit of my uniform off, wrapping around a nasty cut on his head as I tried to figure out how I was going to get him out of the smoking vehicle. I slipped his arm over my shoulder, as I heaved with everything I had, and he hardly moved. This was going to be a slow process, and most likely would get them both killed. Just my luck.

I managed to get him out of the vehicle, as I panted heavily, sweating in my uniform despite the cool day, as I moved him behind the engine block, hoping it provided enough cover. “Hey! I need help!" I yelled over to the others, as they looked over to me.

“Bring him here!" They yelled, as I shook my head. “He is fucking heavy, and bigger than me goddamnit! You get your ass over here and help me damnit!"

But they didn't move. They sat behind their vehicle, cowering as they fired off the occasional shot, and hoped it would all go away. I motioned them over, yet they found themselves as they couldnt and wouldnt move.

I grumbled at this, grinding my teeth together as I picked him up, grunting under my breath; “Hold on big guy, this is going to get rough…" Moving quickly to my feet, I began the slow process of dragging him. I don't know if they were horrid shots, more the fact that they were kind enough to let me drag him out of the line of fire.

What felt like hours later which was more like 10 minutes I managed to get the huge anthro behind cover. Covered in sweat I quickly shed my top and looked over at the remaining dragons. Placing my top quickly underneath his head, I looked over the top of the vehicle as and other round spanged off it.

I felt myself grabbed and pulled down, letting out an oomph.

“Keep your head down meat bag!" one of the other dragons growled, as he fired off a few rounds from his rifle.

Grumbling I looked around, spotting the Navy cowering behind one of the massive offroad tires as I reached over, grabbing his m4 and two mags from his rig and shoving them into the cargo pocket on my left.

Shuffling down to the end of the vehicle I saw that the convoy was pretty well fucked, the front vehicle little more than a mangled wreck, and the truck I had gotten out of was the last. They had us pinned, as I poked my head out, snapping two shots before ducking back in.

“We gotta push up!" The dragon whom yelled at me grunted, checking his mags over quickly before looking over at me. “Skinbag you better not get me killed." He warned as I moved over past him, unhooking the navy guys rig and shuffling it onto myself fast as I could.

“Yeah yeah, same to you zippo." I grunted back, as I saw him grin wryly.

“Remind me to bite you when we get through with this." he grunted as we got to either end of the vehicle.

“Kinky fucker aint ya?" I teased, before nodding. “Now cover me!" I yelled as he popped up, me launching from my position with heavy boot thuds as I crossed the dirt gravel road and landed heavily into a swell on the other side.

Fighting through the stupid weeds to get into a fire position I popped off a few rounds toward where the firing was and motioned the drake to run. Covering him he quickly landed next to me with a heavy thud.

“Jesus causing an earthquake wont fuckin help!" I laughed as I shimmied up, trying to look around the corner as he grumbled something.

“Ready?" I asked and he grunted, firing to cover me as I charged up the embankment and got to the crest of the hill, stopping just short and hid behind a stone wall. Keeping down for a moment, I noted that no rounds were being aimed at me as I popped my head over to see a few humans all in black with a red armband around their right thigh and an assortment of weapons. Motioning the drake forward but just keeping an eye rather than firing on them; I needed his extra firepower.

As he landed beside me I motioned him to be silent and mimed pulling the pin on a grenade, and pointed over the wall. Giving me a grin that scared the hell out of me for being so toothy, he slowly did and gave it a soft toss into the center of them all.

A muffled explosion was heard, but the screams were anything but muffled. Grimacing I popped my head up, popping off a few rounds and watched as one of them tumbled down, another slumping over the stone wall as all of them looked over in surprise.

The drake popped off his own few rounds and nailed another as they finally got their wits and began to fire back, both of us ducking behind the wall. He beamed over to me, clutching his rifle tightly.

“Has anyone ever told you your grin is terrifying?" I asked with a grin as he laughed and just shook his head. THough we quickly heard screams coming from seemingly the other side of them as we bother perked a brow.

Sticking my head up I saw two dragons on the other side firing into the red banded raiders as I popped up and began firing into the humans as well. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw one of the other drakes aim directly at me, firing as I tried to get out of the way.

I felt a searin pain as I fell back with a grunt, looking at my right arm to see it had been grazed pretty bad. Huffing morely to myself I grabbed the IFAQ attached to the navy rig, pulling out the gauze and trying to quickly wrap it up. I thought about a turniquet, but decided it wasnt that bad as I tied off the gauze.

“One of them get you?" the black drake across from me yelled, it dawning on me I hadnt got his name as the firing tapered off.

“No one of your guys fucking shot me!" I said crossly, trying to wipe a bit of blood off my hand as it had collected dirt.

Shaking his head he just snorted. “Keep your head down, too many new guys." He grunted as he popped back up and fired two rounds, before crouching down. “Looks like they are running anyway." He said, looking down at me with a smirk. “Good job on not getting me killed skinbag."

“No problem Zippo." I said with a partial grin, arm kinda hurting but I would be fine as he just shook his head, standing up and resting a foot on the stone wall, watching the rest run off into the woodline.

He brought me down to a medic much to my argument, and waited there for me to make sure i didn't sneak off as the medic looked at the wound.

“This looks like one of our rounds." He said, looking at my arm as he cleaned it.

“It fucking was." I grunted, leaning against one of the vehicles as I looked around. “Hey, do you have any water by the way?" I asked hopefully, the black drake I had been fighting with, nicknamed 'Bull' I had found out on the way over, handed me over a canteen.

Careful not to drown myself on the massive thing I capped it, and handed it back. “Thanks Zi- er, Bull." I said with a sly grin. He just rolled his eyes, the medic looking at me with a weird look.

“I don't think I ever got your name ya little bastard." He chuckled, though there was no malice in his voice.

I reached an arm out and offered him a shake which he roughly accepted though thankfully didn't tear off my left arm with it, “Name is Russo." I said as I took another swig of water before handing back the canteen.

The medics head swiveled as he looked at me, slightly cocking his head. “Wait… Why do I know that name?" He mumbled mostly to himself as leaned inside of his own vehicle where more grumbling could be heard.

I hopped up quick as a sinking feeling about what the medic was getting up to. Slinging my weapon quickly I nodded to Bull, “Let's get a ride back shall we?" I asked hopefully.

But hopefulness be crushed as he snorted and gently grabbed my good shoulder. “What are you hiding Russo?" He grunted, though he did look serious and that he could help.

“I um, miiiight have been told I needed bed rest." I chuckled nervously as I slowly tried to slink around him. The grip on my shoulder tightened to prevent me from going anywhere as the medic popped his head out of the truck, looking white as a ghost.

“U-uh, lord Hrothgar wants to see you…" He said in a stuttered and shaky voice. Bull's jaw dropped as I sighed.

“Fuck. Alright let me go piss and we will go back," I said, slinging my m4 after making sure it was on safe for the millionth time and headed for the treeline.

As soon as I hit the treeline, I ran.
