Welcome back to "The Gift", readers! This is the third post of Chapter 1 for Daniel. Daniel chose to go ahead and press his luck with the Yokai and it looks as though he ended up getting the jackpot... or at least the intimate interest of the Fox spirit. At this point readers are going to decide on how Daniel 'handles things' from here!

Head on over to FA and vote on how Daniel responds to Kon's advances.

Daniel's Storyline, Chapter 1.3

With my shift almost over and four spirits sitting and arguing at the concessions stand I realized that they were going to make my last hour difficult. Setting down the glass cleaner I looked at the four of them and I decided to test the Accord and took Kon up on his offer to clean 'through' him. It didn't really turn out as I expected.

I slid my hand across the counter and, predictably, it and the rag within it went right through Kon. His tail swished left and right and he wore that strange vulpine grin as he stated. "See? I told you I could take it."

Rolling my eyes (but still getting a little hard knowing where my hand was) I continued wiping down the glass with him right in front of me. I'd almost managed to start ignoring his presence until he gasped, then let out a muffled moan as he bit his finger, toes clenching when my hand slid forward between his legs. I let go of the rag immediately, face turning red. Talapus chuckled faintly and Aiden gazed at us over the top of his shades. "Okay... I gotta be honest: that's a little hot."

Herne scowled, crossing his arms over his chest as he remained perched on the bench. "It is foolish... that's what it is."

Giggling, Kon waved me back over. "Okay... okay... Alright, Daniel-- I'm done. I promise... just had to do that once."

I tried to adjust myself inconspicuously as I returned and reached for the rag. My hand gripped it readily but was immediately pinned by the weight of a fox atop it. The fox, rather than being a five-foot-something humanoid man-fox, was a full on red fox, just like I'd seen back at the garbage bin at my apartment. It took a second for me to realize what had happened, and once I did I tried pulling my arm back, to no avail. "Kon!"

The fox's tail swished atop the counter as he ground his hindquarters against my hand; his fuzzy sac nestled in my palm with my middle finger poking up beneath his tail. He wriggled his ears, eyes still perked in a wide grin. "So... are you happier with where your finger is, or what's in your hand?"

Talapus was no longer smiling. "You broke the Accord."

Kon didn't miss a beat. "Yeah, Daniel... way to go."

I froze at that. "Wait. What?"

The sudden opening of the door to the movie room caught my attention and I didn't get an answer, suddenly falling away from the counter when I realized that a live fox standing on the concession stand was probably a major health code violation. I impacted the back counter right below the popcorn machine which, if I had to be honest, was a piece of crap so it was no wonder the door opened and I got showered with hot salty goodness... and not in the good way.

Although I got a few snickers from the movie-goers as they passed by the real embarrassment didn't start until Troy came over and stated in no uncertain terms "I'm not cleaning that up, Dan."

I spoke up immediately. "That fox isn't mine."

Troy looked around and just shook his head as he walked off. "You're such a weirdo, Dan. Just pick up your shit-- I wanna be outta here before three."

Kon, who was once again a spirit Fox-man rather than a solid animal fox sat down on the floor next to me; I realized pretty quick he was completely naked again. "Relax, Daniel... I'm not about to let myself be seen by anyone but you."

Sighing, I grabbed an empty mop bucket and began collecting spilled popcorn. "Great-- so people will think I'm crazy when I tell them I keep getting sabotaged by a fox."

Kon reached out and began to pick up kernels one at a time, tossing them into the bucket. "I'm not sabotaging you... I like you. It's like a school boy crush, you know. Hee hee."

Talapus called from the other side of the counter. "You just want to cause trouble, Yokai. He doesn't know what he's getting himself into."

The Fox called over his shoulder "He hasn't gotten himself into anything YET, but I can tell he wants to!"

I fidgeted, knocking over the bucket as I did so. Frustrated, I began picking up the popcorn anew as I stated "Right now I just want to finish up my shift and go home."

Kon leaned closer and I could almost feel his warm breath against my ear. "You know... I could be wrong. Maybe you want something to get into you..."

It was hard to tell if he was flirting, or offering an open invitation. As such, the best I could respond with was a shaky breath as I hissed out "F-f-fuuuck."

The Fox winked. "If you like."

My shift had never felt like it took that long but, once I FINALLY had the popcorn dealt with I finished up wiping down the counters. By that point Lisa was back in the lobby and, after a quick inspection of my job, confirmed that I was free. I practically bolted out to the bus stop, my spiritual followers trailing after.

The four spirits followed me back home and, despite taking the bus, the trip was still way too long. Although I usually ate right after I got off work I didn't really find myself that hungry. The moment we all stepped into the parking lot of my apartment Kon pushed himself right up against me; I swore I could feel the soft wisps of his fur tickle my arms. "You can tell everyone they're not welcome inside, you know... give us a little quiet time to... you know... figure things out."

Herne objected immediately. "Daniel, nothing good will come of being alone with a Yokai. This is not an opinion-- this is fact."

Kon, still hanging from my arm, glanced back at the other spirits. "Oh just give it a rest... it's not like he won't be here in the morning. I just want some alone time with Daniel so I don't have to keep up with how loud and bossy you are."

Talapus picked right up where Herne left off. "Everyone knows Yokai can't be trusted. You want him all to yourself and have no intention of letting us near him."

I fumbled with my keys, still mind blown that there were three sexy man-beast-spirits arguing over me... and Aiden, who was also a kinda sexy man-beast-spirit, but he looked more like he was along for the show and didn't seem as interested in throwing his hat into the ring. Oh well, I figured, easier to make a decision without a fourth option. I was so focused on figuring out the next step that I'd completely missed Kon's rebuttal... but not his kiss.

Despite the spirit being pretty much vapor there was still something so very HOT about feeling his muzzle on my lips and I could have sworn I felt and even TASTED his tongue. After that I didn't find myself caring that I didn't hear what he'd had to say in response to the Coyote. Talapus, after all, hadn't really been invited into my apartment in the first place.

Herne came to a stop, lingering on the asphalt rather than stepping up onto the sidewalk. "Daniel, you are making a mistake if you plan on sending us away. You may think you know what you want, but you still do not know what it is you need."

I felt my work pants unzip themselves or, more specifically, Kon's intangible fingers do it. "Oh shush, you stupid Elk... I know exactly what Daniel wants, and it's exactly what I think he needs about now. Am I wrong?"

His question was directed at me so I--
