The sun shined a deep and bright orange on this long Sundaria day, the shadows danced in the midday, all around were people and creatures of various sizes and appearances going about their business not a care in the world, commerce, romances, political meetings. It all happened in the crown jewel of the Dragonstone Empire, the city of Dragon’s Crown. Among the people doing their jobs was a lowly guard. He stood vigil over a section of the street and watched as the various groups did their business, vigilant of any wrongdoings. At least he would if he could give much of a damn. As it turns out being a guard was not the most glamorous position as his father had convinced him all those years. Roland was doing his usual job: making rounds and keeping a watchful eye.

“Ugh, gods above, this is so boring.” Roland said to no one in particular, he was standing in the mid-day sun as it beaded down upon him harshly, he was hot and he was bored out of his mind standing in the middle of a crowded city and doing nothing of note or worth, besides watching out for any miscreants: thieves, brigands etc. Though normally he’d just give directions to people walking around the capitol. Taking another deep sigh, he continued his usual patrol when he heard something in an alleyway. Curious he took a detour from his route and stepped into the alleyway to investigate what the noise was.

“Come on! You stupid lock!” A raspy yet distinctly feminine voice said, this piqued Roland’s interests, creeping up upon the nearby wall he peeked his head out slightly to get a better look at whoever it was that was complaining about a lock. Standing on a footstool, a hood above their head (with holes cut out for two diminutive horns,) wearing brown leather armor was a small creature. They were fiddling with a lock, a lockpick in hand: aka a Thief.

“Can I help you?” Roland asked, this made the thief in question jump a good few feet into the air in surprise, they immediately stashed away the lockpick and turned around to see who it was, it was then that Roland was able to get a much better look at who this mystery thief was. She had ruby red scales, with small splotches of white dotting around her face, a pair of silver coloured eyes and of course the two horns: A kobold if Roland had ever seen one (and he’d seen quite a few since many of them lived in Dragon’s Crown.)

“Who are you?!” The kobold said in an accusatory voice, Roland rolled his eyes as he walked towards the kobold.

“Private Roland Syn, City Guard, and I take it you’re a thief?” Roland said, throwing the same accusatory tone back at her.

“Hah! Like I’d let you catch me!” The thief kobold said as she reached into her satchel and pulled out a small black orb, Roland stopped for a moment wondering what on Elhiem it was. Then the kobold threw it onto the ground and a cloud of smoke ruptured from it. Said smoke was immediately blown clean away when a sudden gust of wind happened. And so, for a few moments Roland and the kobold were staring at one another, Roland a look of utter annoyance at the situation and the kobold a wide eyed expression of shock that her escape attempt was thwarted by something as simple as the wind.

“I-I-I…” The kobold stuttered out not sure what to say, Roland did know what to say walking up to her and taking out a pair of handcuffs, the guard had equipped him with cuffs made for any and all creatures; imbued with magic they would change size to accommodate a criminal, from the smallest kobold to a large and boisterous minotaur.

“Alright, let’s head down to the town jail and I’ll turn you in, ” Roland said much to the annoyance of the kobold, “And don’t bother picking these, they’re magic.” Roland added, the kobold let out an annoyed huff dropping the hidden lockpick she had in her palm, Roland picked it up, and stowed it in his own bag for later. It would take a few minutes to get to the city jail, so Roland did what he did best: strike up a conversation with the thief.

“So, what’s your name?” Roland asked, the kobold glared at him, it was the kind of glare that one would get from someone that basically said ‘If I weren’t in handcuffs, I’d gut you and laugh about it,’ Roland was used to those looks quite a lot from people he dealt with in his day-to-day life and strived to make sure he never got on the end of someone who would follow through with that threat., “Come on, you can tell me not like it’ll do anything worse for you at this point.” Roland added. The kobold rolled her eyes and spoke up.

“Prekas.” The kobold curtly answered, standard kobold name, though Roland didn’t really know many kobolds, they tended to keep to themselves or stick around with the other lizardfolk in the kingdom.

“Pretty name.” Roland said, Prekas glared at him again he paid it no mind as he continued to escort her.

“So. Why thievery?” Roland asked, still trying to make small talk with Prekas.

“Because it’s easy.” She replied with a sharp and biting tone, Roland was include to disagree with her that theft was easy, he’d caught many a petty thief in his time as town guard, ranging from kids who were quickly sent to the parent’s and told of what they did (no use getting a kid thrown in jail for something that dumb,) to jewel thieves and poor beggars looking for food (he’d often turn a blind eye to them if he could recoup the person they stole from.)

“If you say so.” Roland replied.

“Why’d you become a guard?” Prekas asked, only fair she did.

“My dad was one, followed in his footsteps.” Roland said. The rest of the walk was silent, upon reaching the jail, Roland turned Prekas into his superior who processed her and put her in the cells they have for thieves. And after guarding for a few more hours, Roland turned in his armor and went back to being a civilian for the rest of the night. Which meant he got a chance to indulge in his favorite pastime: a night at the local tavern. The Wayward Dragon was a tavern that many of the townspeople in Dragon's Crown frequented, or at least in the part of the city that Roland lived in. Taking a seat at the bar Roland ordered some Julonesian Ale and allowed himself to enjoy a quiet night at the tavern.

“You have weird taste in ale.” Roland heard a voice say, a voice that was too familiar, he turned to his side and in her leather armor, sans the hood was Prekas sipping from a tankard.

“Ho-Wh-How’d you get out of jail?!” Roland asked trying to think of the logistics of her getting out, especially since as part of processing they searched her for any other lockpicks and thieves’ tools she might have had.

“I picked the lock with my claws.” Prekas said as she showed her claws Roland slammed his face onto the counter of the bar just as his drink arrived.

“Oh, cheer up Roland, buddy-least you caught me.” Prekas said as she patted Roland on the back he let out a muffled cry of annoyance, especially since he’d probably get in trouble for Prekas escaping. Pulling his head up, he took a hold of his ale and downed it in one gulp and then left not wanting to stay out much.

The next day Roland was doing his rounds again (he luckily wasn’t chewed out by his commanding officer, so that was a plus.) when he heard someone shout at the top of their lungs.

“Stop them! Thief!” A person yelled as a blur ran past him, Roland sighed knowing that he’d have to take care of this, so he chased after the blur until he came up to an alleyway flanked by a wall.

“Let’s see, really only fifteen Dominions, the worst mark ever.” Roland heard the same voice from yesterday, and he knew almost immediately who it was. And indeed, it was who he thought it was, in a different set of leather armor judging by the coloring was Prekas holding a coin purse in her hands.

“Wow, I thought you’d wait a few days before committing another act of theft.” Roland said approaching her, his hands shown to show he wasn’t armed in case she might do something.

“Oh, hey Roland!” The kobold said in a chipper tone.

“You seem way too happy for a person about to get arrested…again.” Roland deadpanned. Prekas smiled at him and reached into her satchel and pulled out a grappling hook tied to a rope.

“Mmm, not likely.” Prekas said as she threw the hook into the air and it latched onto a building, she then rapidly began climbing it taking the rope with her as she went. Roland was a bit dumbfounded at first then shook his head and looked up to see Prekas on the rooftop.

“Later!” she yelled as she jumped from roof to roof. Roland let out a tired sigh, he was not paid far enough to deal with this crap. After returning to the person who got their coins stolen and telling them the thief got away, he continued his patrol as if nothing else happened. And as usual the night he ended his day at the tavern, where again he was greeted by the thing that had been annoying him.

“So, I take it this is your usual haunt?” Prekas asked as she took a drink of some mead and he had his ale like last time.

“Do you have anyone else to bother?” Roland asked, trying to not pay any mind to the annoying kobold next to him. Undeterred by this Prekas asked the question again, and Roland continued to try to ignore her and after a few more drinks and continued badgering by an all to persistent kobold Roland called it a night. The next few days would be filled with Roland having many run-ins with the ruby red kobold called Prekas, sometimes he’d catch her and throw her in jail only for her to again escape and show up on the streets doing some other theft the next day, or she’d escape (almost as if to make sure she’d never have a repeat of when they first met.) Day in and day out, this was becoming his new normal. One of those days, after a particularly hard day of work Sleeping off a day’s work where thanks to Prekas deciding she wanted to commit a coordinated series of burglaries he was chasing her all around his section of the city, upon arriving home he fell right into his bed and went to sleep.

A few hours into his slumber, the sound of something fiddling with his window woke him up, sitting up in bed he looked at the figure, he could barely make out the silhouette of whoever it was. Taking out a match and lighting the lamp on his nightstand Roland then let out an annoyed groan as he saw who it was, one ruby red kobold thief, who was sitting in his windowsill. This was the final straw for that day.

“Goddess damn it! Now you’re breaking into my fucking house!” Roland yelled at the kobold who was climbing through his window, this jolted the kobold who almost feel out of the window, Roland reacted quickly by grabbing her arm and pulling her in, last thing he wanted to happen was for her to fall two stories to the ground and break something then he’d feel like an ass.

“Thanks.” Prekas said as she dusted herself off, Roland gave the kobold an angry look.

“Name one reason why I shouldn’t turn you in.” Roland said letting his anger ebb a bit now it was just a dull menace he had for the kobold who so far had caused him nothing but trouble that day.

“Um…because you think I’m cute?” Prekas said jokingly, Roland narrowed his eyes at her, while yes she was indeed cute, he wouldn’t admit that to her out right, and he sure as hell wouldn’t do it after she broke into his fucking house.

“Get. Out.” Roland said, punctuating each word to get his message across. Prekas rolled her eyes and left, allowing Roland to sleep in peace. The next day Roland went about his usual guard duties and was summerly interrupted again by one ruby red kobold who bumped into him as she was running away from someone she just stole from.

“Again! Seriously?” Roland said as he picked up the kobold by her armor, he reached into her satchel and pulled out a silver and gold brooch with a diamond studded bee as its base.

“Hey Roland.” Prekas said happily, again she was too blasé about someone who was again getting arrested, sure it was theft but still it was jail time.

“Oh, thank you sir, for catching this thieving rabble rouser.” A dragoness said, judging by her clothing she was a minor noblewoman, the noblewoman seemed a bit too interested in Roland as she was staying a lot closer to him then was absolutely necessary for the returning of stolen property, after returning her broach and receiving (and turning down,) a reward Roland slapped the cuffs on Prekas and walked her to the jail as before.

“You know I saw the way that noblewoman was looking at you.” Prekas said, and it was almost as if Roland could hear a hint of jealousy in her voice.

“What? Jealous that some noblewoman was giving me attention?” Roland jokes, the silence from Prekas indicated that indeed she was jealous, it was pretty adorable in a way.

“N-No! I’m not jealous!” Prekas said in a haughty tone, this made Roland laugh a bit, he imagined if kobolds could blush she’d probably be redder then her actual scales were at this point.

“Well you don’t have to worry, there’s only one lady in my life I care for.” Roland said, and his mind almost immediately wanted to slap himself, he was not supposed to say that out loud. Prekas turned to him and her face had a look of wide eyed incredulity, indicating that she knew the woman he was talking about.

“I um…I didn’t think you had those kinds of feelings.” Prekas said, Roland couldn’t really deny it, it wasn’t in his nature to do so, so he came clean.

“I kinda do.” Roland said he was not shy in the least, but he was not one to advertise his affections, especially not to the target of said affections.

“Are you going to make a ‘I stole your heart joke?’” Prekas said, Roland rolled his eyes.

“No, but I’ll wait for you to get out of jail to see you again, how about that?” Roland said as they arrived at the jail. Greeting his superior again, he locked Prekas back in the cell she was locked in when they first met. A few hours later and like clockwork Prekas was in the tavern, having again escaped from her jail cell like last time. She was sitting in their usual spot. Sitting down next to her, Roland ordered his usual order of ale.

“I see you escaped again.” Roland said, at this point he was used to Prekas’ escapades, they had an interesting relationship, he’d chase her doing some theft or the other, throw her in jail and she’d escape or she’d get away before he would catch her, like a game of cat and mouse.

“Yep, you know me,” Prekas said as she downed her drink, Roland didn’t know what she was drinking and didn’t much care, Prekas scooted her seat a bit closer to Roland and she rested her head on his torso, Roland wasn’t sure what to do at this point he’d only ever had one relationship before in his life, and it was with another human. And then there was the whole conflict of interest of the fact that he was a city guard, and she was a master thief.

“Um…Prekas I’m kinda new to this, it’s been a good decade since I last was in a relationship.” Roland said Prekas moved in closer to him. He could feel his heartbeat, her cold body was a gentle contrast to his warm one.

“It’s okay, I’m new to this too.” Prekas said happily, she hugged Roland’s torso, and he decided to hug her back. And so, the tenuous relationship between a guard and a thief began. Things were slow at first. The two of them were quite inexperienced in the field of love as any two could be.

It was a slow process, starting with the two seeing each other more, and not just during their regular working hours as a guard and a thief, but as a couple. It was something that the two of them would have to build up, slow and surely. Things started out slow, with Roland being the one to initiate their first kiss. The two were at the tavern they frequented drinking their usual orders when Roland got the idea, looking at his girlfriend who was sipping some wine. She turned to him wondering why he was staring a hole into her.

“Can I he-“ she was cut off when Roland took her lips into his, her eyes went wide for a moment, but soon they closed as she felt Roland’s hand cradle her left cheek, stroking Prekas’ soft leathery scales, they soon deepened the kiss enjoying the faint taste of the other’s alcohol on their tongues. When they parted finally to get some much needed air, they were panting and couldn’t keep their eyes of one another. Soon afterwards, one kiss turned to two then three, until the two were now more like a couple then anything else. Things would come to a head when the two were doing their respective jobs. Prekas had stolen some rather valuable jewelry from a minor nobleman and Roland was hunting her across the city until he cornered her in an alleyway much like every other time they’d done this song and dance.

“Hey dear,” Prekas said in a mock tone as she pulled out one of her many escape tools from her satchel, “Well I can’t stick around I gotta split!” Prekas said as she pulled out her grappling hook she didn’t have enough time to use them as Roland grabbed her by her wrists, he had an annoyed look on his face, no doubt from chasing her halfway across the city.

“Don’t count on it,” Roland said, staring his girlfriend down, her wrists now bound to her sides. Roland then pulled Prekas lips into hers and a small moan escaped the kobolds throat as he did, gripping her boyfriend’s chest Prekas pushed him away the two breathing heavily, then Prekas let out a gasp when she felt something hot and hard poking through her boyfriend’s pants, she then felt him prod her through his pants, a stifled moan escaping her mouth as he did, she could feel his hot erection poking through from him into her leather clad pussy.

“R-Roland,” Prekas hissed as she grounded her crotch against his, the friction caused by it eliciting another moan from her, she wanted more of him, she wanted him to fuck her here and now in this dingey alleyway, “Fuck me! Fuck me!” The kobold begged her lover, Roland kissed her neck as he began to undo the drawstring of his pants pulling them down a bit so that only his cock was free. It was pale and thick with dribbles of precum leaking from the tip. Prekas swallowed a lump that formed in her throat and smiled.

“Are you sure, this isn’t the most romantic place to have our first time?” Roland asked, wanting the final confirmation before things went too far, Prekas nodded kissing Roland again as she managed to wriggle her hands down to her pants, she then managed to undo the belt of her pants and allowed them to fall to the ground, leaving her only in her panties. Roland pulled the garment’s aside and lined his cock up with her slit. Looking Prekas in the eyes, she gave him one last kiss, and with a deep breath Roland plunged into her. It was slow at first, with his cock opening her entrance then slowly but surely sliding inside, until he reached his hilt and all the while Prekas was hissing with pleasure at the feeling. Taking a moment to get adjusted to the feeling of Prekas’ snatch Roland pulled out of her only to ram his cock back in.

“F-Fuck, you’re tight.” Roland complemented as he continued to thrust into his lover, the thrusts were short and quick, not too deep, and as he did the kobold moaned and groaned in pleasure with each thrust, clutching tightly at her boyfriend’s frame as he did. She didn’t care that she was being fucked up against a dirty alley wall, or that if someone were to walk down this alley they’d find the two fucking in broad daylight, actually part of that made it all the more exciting for Prekas.

“Faster!” Prekas demanded, Roland soon picked up his pace, thrusting deeper and harder as he did. Prekas was in absolute heaven, she’d never felt so full, Roland’s cock was just the right thickness and size to fill her completely without feeling too uncomfortable: in short he was the perfect lover for her size.

“Prekas, I’m close.” Roland grunted as his thrusts became sporadic and shorter, indicating how close he was to climax.

“Inside, I want you to cum inside me.” Prekas said as she wrapped her legs around Roland’s body making absolutely sure he didn’t cum anywhere but inside of her. With a long whine and gritted teeth, Roland came inside Prekas. The sensation was like nothing she’d felt before, the warmth was like the stones her kin used during the winter so warm and gooey. She could feel it permeating all around her cunny as more and more of Roland’s seed flooded into her, she’d need to get some aluin to make sure she didn’t end up with a clutch of eggs (she wasn’t ready for that, yet at least.) Collapsing onto the ground from his legs turning like jelly Roland hugged Prekas tightly as the two breathed heavily reveling in the afterglow.

“You know, you’re such a corrupting influence.” Roland said, Prekas kissed him on the cheeks and snuggled up to him, enjoying the warmth that resonated from his body. Roland wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back.

“You know you love it.” Prekas replied. And Roland couldn’t deny that indeed he loved her for how much of a miscreant she was, she’d probably cause him to enter an early grave, but hey he was in love and that was a problem for future Roland to deal with.

“I love you Prekas.” Roland said, Prekas snuggled just a bit closer at hearing those words from him.

“I love you too.” Prekas replied happily.
