A man receives a card in the mail, which begins an unexpected... though perhaps not entirely unplanned, change. ^^

This story was written for Catprog as part of my patreon request days for March. It contains transformation and gender shifting.

Jon stared down at the envelope in confusion, turning it over and over as though that might somehow reveal some additional information as to how it had ended up being delivered not simply to his address, but to him by name. Even the card inside offered no more clues. It didn't have a brand name or anything with which to identify whatever weird marketing company had obviously sent it out, just a plain rectangle of rather high quality white cardboard with a single set of a word and a number written upon it.

'Version 2.0'

He turned the card flat on its edge as though seeking to understand whether there was perhaps some sticker-type fold he had to peel back or a glued down interior which he could open up, but there seemed to be absolutely nothing. With a frown and a murmur of slight discomfort he shifted in his seat. No matter how he moved though he couldn't get settled comfortably again, thus rose from the chair with a grunt of frustration and tossed the card down onto it.

The human male strode into the kitchen to grab a glass of water, feeling oddly on edge due to something so silly and innocuous as a piece of random junk mail. Indeed even as he poured the water and raised it to his lips he chuckled softly, realising that it was probably meant to have something more printed on it and there'd been a fuck up somewhere in processing. He wondered how many other homes and families right now were looking similarly confused, and...

"Ugh, what the fuck..."

He pulled the cup back from his mouth and stuck out his tongue, scraping at it with the tips of his fingers and staring down at what rested upon them. A small clump of hairs, a few black, a few snowy white. He looked at the cup, spotlessly clean, then at the sink's tap. Once more he began to run the water, peering into the stream for any sign of any unwanted detritus. It appeared perfectly clean though, and once again he frowned in frustration. Whatever the cause of these little annoyances, today was most definitely not going his way. But, despite that, he was determined to make the most of this weekend. To relax. To enjoy the next couple of days to himself, and of course, to...

"...w-what...?"

His thoughts trailed off into nothing, confusion, shock and more than a little fear replacing them as he caught sight of something out of the corner of his eye. The kitchen window, or rather, his reflection within it. He set the glass down in the sink once more and moved towards the window, reaching up slowly, nervously to touch his face at the same time.

There was a layer of fine, soft black and white fur upon his face. Little hairs, a few of which came away when he brushed a nervous hand across them, only to be replaced by longer, thicker hairs.

"What the fuck?!"

He rushed to the downstairs bathroom, to the nearest mirror.

"Oh god. W-what..."

His face was changing. Not just growing a coat of lush fur, but shifting in shape. He couldn't feel it, there was no pain, barely any sensation at all, but he could see visibly his own mouth stretching outward as he groaned in horror, a muzzle protruding forth as his short dark hair began to sprout longer and longer. His ears began to push upward, through the flowing tide of hair to rise towards the top of his head, and as his muzzle formed, the tip of his nose became a lighter, more pastel shade of pink. Jon tugged at his shirt collar, hoping, silently begging to see that the change was merely contained to his facial region. To his horror though he saw his fingernails growing slightly, turning more rounded and claw-like as more dark fur began to sprout across his fingers and the back of his hands. Beyond that though, beneath the collar of his shirt, dark fur was already sprouting.

"I can't... t-this... it's not possible..."

Tearing off his clothes to stare at his whole body in dismay, Jon wailed in confusion as he watched his genitalia shrinking and shrivelling, drawing back up into his body even as his hips began to widen, as his belly rounded out slightly and his chest was suddenly swelling like a pair of balloons. With a strange popping sound he yelped and span around, almost chasing himself like a dog as he watched a long, bushy tail spread and sprout from the base of his spine, just above his buttocks. He cried out, tugging at it, yanking hard and yelping in pain. It wouldn't come off. It wouldn't stop, because it wasn't some trick or illusion. It was real. This was him now.

No.

No, it wasn't him.

He looked at himself again in the mirror, and as she did so, all the fear, all the horror began to melt away.

Indeed, while she was a little nervous, the more she changed, the more she began to transform into herself, the more settled and contented she felt.

Joanna watched herself become... well, herself, with baited breath. She gasped, she murmured, she even giggled softly as she looked into the mirror and turned upon the spot, delighting at her striped back and the still growing bushiness of her tail. She watched her feet changing into broader, more sturdy paws, and took great pride in having to lean over before long just to see down over her ample breasts.

Less than five minutes later the skunk wandered out of the bathroom, naked as a jaybird, and into the living room. She plucked the card off the chair where it had been set down, flopped down into the chair, and grabbed her phone from where she'd set it down a short while ago.

Instinctively, fingers flying across the touch-pad, she dialled a number. She waited, and when a strange whirring, clicking sound answered at the other end, she spoke calmly and casually as thought it was the most natural thing in the world.

"Version 2.0 now active at this address. Thank you."
