It had happened faster, and sooner than anyone had anticipated. One day, the residence of earth had been enjoying the blissful ignorance of thinking they were alone in the galaxy. The next they had been invaded by aliens, who acted much like horrible tourists. They did whatever they wanted, went wherever they wanted and dumped their waste randomly, sometimes injuring people or the environment.
However what distressed the humans of earth most, was what they took. They didn't take any plants, or technology, or water, or rare resources. What they decided to take had confused, and greatly upset the denizens of earth.
They took the pets.
Over the centuries, the pets of earth had undergone some changes. While normal cats and dogs still existed, a new designer species had been created in the genetic labs of earth. Anthropomorphic versions of many of earths mammalian creatures had been created as a kind of pet species. They had started as an experiment, and as nothing more exotic then cats and dogs. But as the popularity of the creatures increased, so to expanded the demand for more exotic species.
Their size varied depending on the species they were based on. All of them stood on two legs with their fore-paws having been altered to be more like hands. The breeds ranged greatly from chihuahua's and tabby cats to wolves and tigers. Obviously, they had been genetically tinkered with removing aggressive tendencies and instincts. It left them docile, friendly, loving and very loyal towards their owners.
Trading pets once they had fully bonded was rare and usually detrimental to their mental state. Usually they wanted for little, and lived for thirty to forty years. Their owners pandered to them and loved them like family members, giving them their own bedrooms, clothing, toys and more.
As time passed from when they had first been created, they gained more and more freedoms. Eventually able to be out and about on their own, to go shopping if they needed or wanted to, have their own bank accounts and even trade shares if they were particularly adept. They could even get piercings, drink alcohol and smoke if they so desired, of course they were still limited: couldn't work a job, couldn't purchase alcohol or piercings without their owner present and couldn't vote in political elections.
Most wore nothing more than a loincloth or simple underwear at their owners discretion and request. However while they did have some awareness of public decency and were usually dressed, it wasn't uncommon to see them out and about in just their fur with a collar around their neck or a bracelet or ankle cuff with their pet tag on it.
Since humanity had improved in their developments of various goods, things like cigarettes and alcohol had lost almost all of the harmful effects and the chemicals they once contained. While still containing synthesised chemicals, which gave the same side effects, but weren't dangerous to the body. They had even moved away from fossil fuels and cleaned up quite a bit of the damage past generations had done to Earth.
V'ykar (pronounced V-eye-kar, sounding much like 'my car' but with a V), was a snow-leopard pet breed. Standing at roughly six foot tall, covered head to toe in the thick, plush white and grey fur with black rosettes that was common to his species. The only clothing he wore was a purple loincloth with gold edges on it, and a leather cuff on his wrist, his identity tags embedded into the leather. He had large paws on the end of his digitigrade legs, claws, while sharp, clipped neatly and expertly so he wouldn't be a threat to anyone unless he needed to defend himself.
He had been returning home after being out shopping at the local delicatessen. His supply of smokes and the various snacks he enjoyed most had run out. After sending his master a message on his phone, he was given permission to go buy more. His loving master had given him a decent allowance, wanting to give him as much freedom as he legally could. Despite being one of the larger wild breeds, a Primal as they had been nicknamed, V'ykar was given quite a bit of freedom. In return he was loyal, loving, and helped around the house, always looking forward to when his master returned home from work.
One minute he had been walking down the street, hurrying home to clean the dishes he had neglected that morning in favour of going shopping and enjoying the warm sunshine and cool breeze. The next large shadow appeared over him. He had paused mid step to look up, seeing a strange craft hovering overhead.
Next thing he knew he was waking up on the floor in some strange room. The shopping he had gotten sitting not far away, tossed there like an after thought. He had been stripped of the loincloth and cuff his owner had lovingly chosen for him. Only the piercings in his ears left on his body. He gave a whimper and sat up, looking around the room in a mild panic.
There were no windows and no furniture of any description. The walls smooth and a stark white. He couldn't even see the seam for a door. It was disconcerting, he had just been outside hadn't he? How had he gotten inside? And especially in this bizarre space. The only scent he could pick up was his own and the smell of oddly synthetic smelling air.
“M...Master?” he called out to the empty room before giving a whimper when it echoed around back to him. He crawled over to his bags of shopping and curled up into a ball next to them, knees pressed to his chest and tail wrapped around his legs. He gave another distressed whimper as he tried to think of what was going, of what he may have done wrong.
A few minutes passed before a door opened, appearing seamlessly from the wall. A tall, rotund creature entered, stepping in silently and held her head aloft with and air of arrogant aloofness. V'ykar could only assume it was female from the voluptuous breasts and the near hourglass figure despite it being, by earth standards, overweight. She wore a tight, expensive looking dress that covered her smooth, green skin. Hey eyes looked composite, like an insects, although the composite parts were set as a distinct pupil in the centre of her eyes.
She didn't wear shoes, having four toes on each foot, three that faced forward and a fourth that extended from her heal downwards giving the appearance of wearing high heel shoes and making her slightly taller. Her hands likewise had only three fingers and a thumb, which were currently holding a device she looked at disinterestedly. When she saw that he was awake she gave a joyful squeal which hurt the felines ears.
“Gotta go girls! My new pet is awake!” she exclaimed before putting the device away.
“N...New pet? Wh...what? Who are you!? Where am I!? Where is my Master!?” V'ykar asked with confusion, fear, desperation and growing anger.
“I'm your owner now! And this is your new home!” she replied ecstatically.
“W...w..What? No! M...Master wouldn't sell me!” He exclaimed his anger starting to grow stronger and stronger within him “Take me back! TAKE ME BACK RIGHT NOW!”
“Silly thing, this is your home now,” she returned without batting an eye at his angry outburst.
For the two years V'ykar tried to escape from his captor. From his first attempt to escape, he had discovered he was not on earth any more. The home of his jailer was inside some huge dome, with several other homes as well. Outside of that was a waste land. Dead rock and what once had been plants as far as the eye could see. Rivers of some, green sludge that bubbled, oozed and steamed. Yet it never stopped him from trying to find a way, nor did it stop any of the others from trying.
Every chance he could find, he tried to get away from his new 'owner' but couldn't get very far. Usually he was found as little as a few hundred meters away and others as far as a few kilometres. They used a strange device that seemed designed for torture. That was what V'ykar and the other stolen thought of it anyway.
When activated it felt like they were being electrocuted, every nerve in their bodies screaming in agony till they collapsed from the pain. He and the others never gave up their attempts, but had started to resign themselves to being stuck on that planet, away from their loving owners till the day they died. Possibly at the neglectful hands of their captors.
The worst time it had gone off for V'ykar, he had been bed bound for days. Barely able to move, unable to draw a deep breath without pain. The device had left burn marks where it had been pressed against him.
The strange alien never gave V'ykar her name, insisting that he call her mistress or master. He never did, always finding some way to call her anything and everything he could think of. That was until he had heard her actual name from one of her friends who visited one day.
She had called her Nor'ail, and V'ykar used it as often as he could despite the fact, and more than likely because, it angered her to no end. V'ykar even found it entertaining to do it in front of her guests, finding every way he could to embarrass or defy her whenever he could.
The feline eventually worked out she was someone who, in their society, was high class and in a high social standing. All of which meant very little to the snow-leopard. As time passed he learned more and more about the strange aliens. Not that it had been hard to find out, they were almost boastful about their race.
They were a species that was pathologically lazy and self interested. Forced to live in towns and cities that were isolated from the wider environment of the planet around them they called home. Beyond the protective walls of their shelter cities was a noxious, toxic wasteland, polluted beyond any chance of rescue. Often they would go out on 'space cruises' to random planets with better environments than their own like tourists. Although it would be better described as tourists from hell, and they rarely revisited a planet they had already been to.
Damage, destruction, and pollution followed in their wake. They would take anything they wanted with no regard to how it effected others. That was how they had come into possession of a large quantity of pets like himself from earth. They had no concept of pets on their world, but had liked the idea of creatures that lived at home, didn't need to be paid, and did all the housework enough, that they wanted them.
However it was primarily the upper classes that now owned them, and they used them more like jewellery. Something to show off to the others as a status symbol rather than as the living, loving companion they had been created to be.
This however gave the pets, like V'ykar, even more chances to embarrass and and anger their alien captors. Whenever they went to a high class and or even a public social event, they would act like hoodlums. Throwing food around, swearing, breaking anything that they could and insulting their 'owners' when they got the chance.
They at least had the technology to replicate any items that it was given. As a result, V'ykar hadn't needed to go without his smokes or any of the treats he had gotten the day he was taken, much like a large portion of the taken pets. They stuck mainly to these over the foods provided by their captors. Thankfully there was a wide enough variety that they weren't suffering from too many health issues.
However as time passed, she paid attention to him less and less, and he ended up being tended to more by her servants. Yet she still dragged him out to social events like he was something to show off. He was surprised that she did, seeing as each time he would find new and inventive ways to disgrace himself or her.
He sat in the back seat of one of their vehicles, puffing on a smoke which he knew she hated. Sadly, in his opinion at least, it was nearly finished. They were headed to the one of the largest social events that they had on this planet. It was something that happened at least once a year, some times twice. A kind of sport that the aliens enjoyed greatly, yet he never paid enough attention to figure out how it was played.
The high classes would always attend, usually betting stupid amounts on the outcome of the event. Like many of their structures, it was set up purely for this one spectacle, which held no interest to V'ykar, or the others in any way shape or form. It sat in an old meteor crater, a large dome built over it to protect those inside. The reason was simple really. Less construction required, and it was already the perfect shape for all those attending to be able to watch what was going on.
“I just don't see why he keeps trying to escape.” Nor'ail complained to her friend who was driving the craft. V'ykar barely paid any attention to them, instead watching as the usual scenery flew by outside the window: Rivers of green glowing ooze, dead foliage, bones of long extinct creatures, mounds discarded technology or simple garbage was everywhere. It made him long to return home more as he looked out upon the landscape that made up a signifficant percentage of the world.
“He has food, water, a wonderful home with me,” She continued on with a huff, wafting the smoke away from her face with a look of irritation and aggravation “He just keeps trying.”
“It seems to be a running theme with a lot of them, they just won't stay where they are told.” her friend, another female named Druqols, replied. The feline gave a huff and fully tuned out their conversation which continued along that theme. They complained about it every time he tried to get away. At first they had told them over and over again that they wanted to go home, every time they had just taken them back to the place they had tried to escape from.
He snuffed out his smoke on the upholstery around the window as their destination came into view. His ear flicked when Nor'ail admonished him for the action. His response was a middle finger salute and a hiss. He didn't even bother to look at her, simply dropping the butt to the floor. He made sure to embed the message more by grinding it into the carpeting with his paw.
They pulled into parking area of the destination a few minutes later. Once the vehicle stopped they all climbed out, the snow leopard moving faster than the other two. He was already intent on heading to the designated pet area. Retrieving his pack of smokes from the back of the car, he pulled one out and placed it in his maw. Lighting it quickly before looking over his shoulder at the two females, both looking at him with irritation as he exhaled a large cloud of smoke in their direction.
“Maybe it's because we want to go back to our original homes,” he remarked grumpily, harping back to their conversation finally and confusing the pair for a moment “You... people... are terrible pet owners. You may think we are living in luxury, but to us, this is all a just a prison... with hidious prison wardens.”
“V'ykar! Mind your mann...” Nor'ail started only for him to cut her off, eyes narrowing and a deep, angry growl echoing from his throat. He rarely spoke at any length with them, choosing instead to avoid them as much as possible. When he did choose to speak to them however, it was usually in an angry, displeased tone and he meant everything he said.
“You couldn't even take care of your own planet,” he exclaimed with a scowl and gestured back the way they had come in “If you can't even look after that, what the hell made you think you could take care of any of us? We have needs that you can't even begin to fathom or replicate, taking us just showed that you are greedy, selfish creatures. Manners? That's rich coming from you! Where were your precious manners when you STOLE us from our home!? Why do you think we would respect you in any way after that?!”
He didn't wait for a reply, turning sharply away from them and walked off as quickly as he could. He tried not to appear to be in a rush, wanting it to appear like they mattered so little to him that he didn't need to. He could hear her screeching for him to come back but ignored her demands. She wasn't his mistress, and never would be. Even if he was to be stuck there for the rest of his life, he would NEVER call any of them his master.
The pet area was a barely maintained field of what could be considered grass. It was on the back side of the deep crater that made up the field for their event. Faced away from the proceedings going on, its view was entirely out through the huge protective dome to the inhospitable wilderness beyond.
Multiple other pets stood or sat around looking bored and forlorn. Dogs, cats, rabbits, a goat and a few primals like V'ykar himself: a lion and a couple of wolves. Most of them knew one another from only really socialising with each other at the events they had been dragged to. Usually at said events it was only after they had raised hell that they were put somewhere away from the crowds.
V'ykar sat, eyes looking out at the disgusting world beyond as he puffed away on a new smoke. On earth, a pack of smokes would have lasted a week. Here however he chained them, and a pack would only last, at best, two days. He wasn't the only one there who was smoking, it had been his contribution to the others who had been captured.
The other pets, however, were mostly avoiding him. Having sensed his sour mood from his body language and the fact he had managed to get through a smoke in only four puffs. The only one who wasn't avoiding him was the lion, named Dander.
The felines sat side by side, the two of them leaning against each others for comfort. They had been silent since V'ykar had arrived, just content to sit to watch the dust blow about and the disgusting green ooze flow outside. A couple of large 'waterfalls' were within view outside, the strange ooze acting differently for each fall.
For one, it flowed like slime. A continuous sheet that folded on itself at the bottom before continuing on its way. The other it was like regular water, kicking up a mist and spray of the glowing substance. The two flows mingled into one river a little closer by, mixing and swirling till they combined and carried on their way.
“I hate it here.” V'ykal finally muttered softly as he exhaled his lungful of smoke away from the feline by his side.
“I know.” Dander replied, voice carrying a soft rumble, a sound to show sympathy and comfort.
“I miss Master... I miss his touch... his smell... his voice.”
“I know.”
“And I hate that they don't see it... that they think everything is perfect... that they haven't done anything wrong... that they think WE are the ones who are the problem, that we will ever stop wanting to go home.”
“I know.”
“I hate it here...” The snow-leopard gave a whimper, long, drawn out, full of longing and pain. The lion wrapped his tail around his, arm around his side and pulled him close against his side.
“We know.” One of the wolves, a male named Zamiel, said as the others all made their way over. It happened every time the pets were together like this. secluding themselves away from their alien captors, they would end up all pressed together to mourn what had been stolen from them.
They all whined and, in their own way, wept together. Due to being more feral than human, they couldn't shed tears, but that didnt mean that they couldn't cry in their own way. They found solace in each others company and misery. Those that smoked continued to do so, going through quite a few, flicking the buts towards the boundary wall as they listened to the cheers and cries behind them.
None of them asked the one question that was on all of their minds. That they had asked each other so many times it had started to lose any meaning to them. They never asked it any more because they would never be given the answer, 'When can we go home?'
“Hey guys... what's that?” The goat, Sebastian, asked after roughly an hour. He was pointing outside the boundary, and at first, V'ykar wanted to dismiss it was some weather phenomenon caused by the disgusting landscape outside. However when everyone looked in the direction he was pointing, they could see a sleek, shiny vessel flying in their direction at quite a speed.
They all moved quickly, the primal's moving to stand in front of the weaker, smaller pet breeds. It was an instinctive reaction, especially for the lion and wolves. They watched it suspiciously, unsure what to make of it as it came to a slow stop just the other side of the protective wall.
It wasn't huge, but wasn't tiny either, comparable size wise to a bus from Earth. A large tube extended from the side and latched onto the barrier. It burned through the protective dome quickly like a hot knife through butter. They watched, hesitantly as a door opened and a poodle stuck their head out and waved them over.
“C'mon! Par ici!” she urged, slipping into french and the others all looked at each other confused for a moment. V'ykar recognised Lucile from her accent instantly, she gave a soft growl and stamped a foot paw in irritation that they hadn't moved “Hurry up Before zey notice!”
V'ykar blinked and then felt his heart skip a beat, could this be it? If he was to be honest, in his mind, anywhere would be better than here. He looked to the others, then towards the lip of the crater, still hesitating for a moment before his eyes returned to the waiting poodle.
“Go...” a voice said aloud to those around him, and it took a moment for him to even realise it had been he who had spoken. There was a cheer from the event grounds behind them before his brain caught up with his now beating heart “GO!”
They all moved as one frantic unit, rushing towards the open hatch as an alarm suddenly sounded from behind them. He looked round as guards started to appear on the far edges of the field, pointing and began to rush in their direction. V'ykar pushed the bunny in front of him into the waiting ship before stepping on himself being the last to board.
The door slammed shut behind him, barely missing his tail and he felt the craft start to move. He staggered his way deeper in, finding even more pets aboard. They were all sitting or standing and looking out windows that couldn't be seen from the outside. At the front of the craft, sitting at a console was another strange alien.
It wasn't very tall, with long arms and legs. Its head had a short muzzle with large mandibles and huge horns atop its head. It wore a suit that hid most of its bodily structure, but when it looked up at him, its eyes looked like they were filled with a liquid metal which swirled and stirred as its eyes moved.
“I can't pronounce it's name, hell if it wasn't for the translator it has in here I wouldn't understand it at all,” a beagle, Clarence, said from close by “However it told me that once we are on their main ship in orbit, we will be put into a kind of slumber till we reach earth. Apparently they have been fighting against our abductors for a long time. Every now and then they come in and rescue any who have been kidnapped, like us. They have been working to rescue those that got captured all day. We're the last group.”
V'ykar nodded, giving a tired smile then made his way to the back of the ship and found a place to sit. He certainly hoped that these new aliens were going to keep their promise and take them home. Regardless there was little he could do about it if they did or not.
He slumped down, giving a tired sigh as he felt weight lift from his shoulders. The familiar presence of Dander appeared against his side and he couldn't stop the soft, rumbling purr that escaped his throat. As the adrenaline started to wear off and his heart race slowed, the snow-leopard didn't fight the urge to doze off. His eyes slowly closed, a nuzzle coming to his cheek from Dander as a reassurance that he would watch out for them.
V'ykar was woken by voices around him, and crying, but it sounded joyful. He questioned how crying could be happy, it had always been a sad thing as far as he remembered. He gave a soft groan as his eyes slowly opened and blinked against the bright lights glaring down on him from above. The ceiling he looked up at reminded him so much of the gymnasium on earth his master had taken him to when he was young.
He had still been a kitten, and had just wanted to play, so his master took him out to a 'play date'. That had been so long ago that he couldn't even remember it very clearly. Only the fond, fuzzy warm memory of the fun he had had that day. His gaze fell sideways, and for a moment he thought his mind was playing tricks on him. There, over another cot like bed with a doberman still sleeping upon it, was a human.
He blinked for a moment before his brain shook off its drowsiness. That WAS a human! He jolted up into a sitting position at that and looked around more urgently. He WAS in a gymnasium, and all around him were camp cot like beds. They either had still sleeping pets laying upon them, were empty, or had pets embracing a human of one shape or another.
“Where...?” he started, looking around the room more. Around the edges were police officers keeping a watchful gaze over the room. His ear flicked and his heart skipped a beat when a voice called out.
“V'ykar?” a male voice called. His eyes widened, ears rotating in the direction his name came from and tail giving a few twitches. Slowly the feline turned his head to see the familiar and much missed face of his owner, only a row of cots away. His tall frame had built out a bit more muscle, his blonde hair grown out bit longer than it had been, his green eyes now possessing bags below them from lack of sleep. But V'ykar did not miss the hopeful look and the growing smile on his face.
“Master?” he replied slowly, eyes going wide and hopeful. There was a subtle nod and he didn't waste time scrambling the distance. The human opened his arms wide for a hug, not expecting V'ykar to literally pounce at him. The two of them tumbling to the floor “MASTER!”
The human laughed as he held his pet close, grip nearly crushingly tight. The snow-leopard didn't care at the painfully tight embrace, nuzzling his cheek against the humans own and shoulders, tail wrapping around the two of them to lock them together.
“God's I've missed you kitten,” The human said, sniffling and gave V'ykar a soft kiss to the forehead “Not once. Not once did I gave up hope that you would come home. Tonight I'll give you a bath, fur a good brush just the way you like, cook your favourite dinner, and then, THEN, we can go to bed and sleep cuddled up together, like when you were a kitten and there was a thunder storm.”
“I'm really home,” V'ykar purred out, nuzzling more, his purr not stopping for a moment “I'm really home.”
“No V'ykar,” Came Dander's voice from close by, holding his own owner, a short male human with brown hair and blue eyes, against his side. He nuzzled lovingly into the humans hair, tail wrapping around his leg “We're all home.”
Once given a clean bill of health, although with the suggestion he have some calcium rich food. V'ykar and his Master returned home. The house was clean, although nowhere near as clean as it had been when V'ykar had been there two years prior. It hadn't ever been out of any command from his master, but simply because V'ykar liked to keep the house clean.
The feline wasn't able to get a job, but didn't want to feel like a dead weight on his masters resources or income. So he did the housework, and as a reward, he was given an allowance, food, love and his own room.
However his master waved off the mess when V'ykar noticed it. Instead he was ordered to sit at the table and wait, while the human cooked dinner for them. It may have been cliche for V'ykar, as a feline, to be a fan of fish. However in his opinion, his master was an expert at cooking a perfect seared salmon steak. Accompanied with a simple salad and a wedge of lemon or lime. It was his all time favourite, and was cooked as a special treat on occasion.
To say the smell left him drooling was an understatement, he was almost whimpering as he waited for it. Squirming in his seat as the human took his time to prepare and cook the dish, chuckling a little at the felines enthusiasm. When finally it was placed before him on the table, instead of wolfing it down, V'ykar took his time. Relishing in every bite and maw full with loud, happy purrs.
Once the food was finished, and dishes piled neatly on the sink, he was escorted V'ykar to the bathroom. After waiting for the tub to fill and sweet scented soaps and aromatics added to the water. The snow-leopard was gently guided into the tub and scrubbed from head to paw.
He hadn't had such a thorough cleaning since he was a kitten. Usually he was left to shower on his own, yet his master wouldn't accept a word of complaint. He seemed to be enjoying himself getting his pet clean and pampering him a little. He even dried him off and trimmed his claws with a smile on his face.
One in the bedroom, a new fur brush was brought out. Keeping to the promise made hours before, V'ykar was given a thorough and enjoyable grooming. Each stroke made him feel young and loved again. He stretched out and purred loudly, nuzzling into the pillows as his fur was brushed with long strokes. Things got interesting however when it came time to groom his belly.
“Heh, I see my kitten is enjoying the attention.” his master remarked and V'ykar gave a curious mewl and tilted his head before looking down his body. He gave a meep when he spotted his erection starting to poke free of his sheath. He moved to try to cover it up but was stopped by the human.
“Calm down V'ykar,” he was instructed simply and he gasped as a hand wrapped around his sheath, which then started to carefully stroke it back and forth “I didn't say it was not welcomed.”
This was a side of his master that V'ykar had not seen before, nor expected. Relationships between pets and owners wasn't unheard of, or illegal, but it was still a taboo area. Those thoughts rapidly left his mind as that soft hand, grip just right, continued stroking. His purr picked back up in an instant as his cock quickly slid free of his sheath.
“There we go... good boy, my big strong leopard.” came the simple praise as the hand continued along his shaft. Pre soon started to ooze from the tip of his rod and V'ykar was squirming a little as his master stroked him off. The feline did give a slight whine though, a hand coming out to stroke against his masters own crotch only for the human to shake his head at him and push it away.
“No kitten, tonight is all about you,” he said as his other hand came up to cup and massage the felines balls “next time, we will explore things more... but for now, for tonight, this is all I want and need.”
That oddly, sent a wave of excited pleasure through V'ykar, the feline giving a groan as his cock jerked and, all too quickly, he came, giving a yowl as he shot sticky string after sticky string of seed over his belly. It certainly wasn't the first time he had ejaculated in his life, but it was the fastest. It was also both the first time since he was kidnapped, and by his masters hand.
“Good boy,” His master praised as he grabbed a discarded rag by the bedside and used it to wipe his hand, and V'ykars fur clean “Such a good kitty, My good kitty. There definitely will be more of that in the future if you continue to be good and don't get kidnapped again.”
Purrs were the only reply V'ykar gave to that. His tail giving slow, languid wags as he basked in the afterglow. Once he was wiped mostly clean, his master climbed into the bed with him after turning off the lights. He let V'ykar get comfortable before he pulled the sheets over them, settling down to sleep.
V'ykar buried his face against his masters chest as the human hugged him close. The rumbling purrs never stopping as they started to doze off. Snuggled up closely to his beloved master, V'ykar could only think one thing: Finally, he felt he was home.
